  4. Thanks - I'm sure that head-author "Blackbird" is as happy as I am to hear this. It's even better with Channel F II sound, the modified version of MESS can be downloaded from here: http://w5.nuinternet.com/s660100106/files/...th_debugger.zip As you can see from the file-name it also has the debugger (I think it needs to be turned on in one of the ini-files to be able to use it) and another special thing about it is the palette-file which lets you set the colors in a binary file - correcting the colors to look more natural. You can offend me all you want, after all, I was shooting to offend Wii owners who have begun acting all tough because MP3 is mildly successful. So you basically admit you are trolling here?
  6. Playing the first Metroid Prime i experienced heavy Motion Sickness. Anybody who has experienced that, who can tell if it's still the same effect on Corruption? I need some new stuff for my Wii, but i am not sure about this game. It's no fun, to have to take a break from a game every few minutes...

Little Update: * Title screen (still quite basic) * one more layer of bombs and platforms added * platforms work now (no walls yet though) * small spaceman enemy to be seen (not moving yet) * some animations added If you collect all bombs or touch the enemy, the game jumps back to the title screen. It does ocassionally jump back to the title screen as well, for my routine checking up the number of the remaining bombs is still stupid as hell (adds up all remaining bits in the Bombs variables, and executes if 0. Sometimes adding up all those bits ends up in a zero as well, even if you still have bombs remaining). Well, have fun.. Mike Bombjack_v0_11.bin
  9. @ Dennis: Hmm, somehow i don't get this whole thing together..I concentrated on other things though on my game. I still hope i can tackle this subject not too far in the future.. @Michael: I am using a 2lk, but i still have y being in the "true" scanline count, not the halfed one. just doing dey after every STA WSYNC. Else i couldn't update the background and foreground colors each row on Bombjack.

From what i have heard it's selling more than Bioshock on the 360. I wouldn't just call that "mildly" successful.

  12. I think the overlays have their own charm going with them.. I like the little coloured glow around objects you get with the overlays for instance. Looks awesome when you are playing in the dark. But the plain black and white can also be nice sometimes.

  14. I would even extend this to saying "ONLY people who aren't great at fighting games can have a blast playing SC." I loved Soulblade/Edge, but i abhore all of the buttonsmashing Soulcaliburs. Did someone mention REZ yet?

  16. Hello Dennis, thanks for your advice and code samples... Just one question: Can't i just change the Player color all the time...I guess it doesnt make any difference, if i do a playercolor-write and the player isnt being drawn this scanline anyway, isnt it? greets, Mike
  17. So, if somebody is kind enough to give me the playfield file of that, i can try out if it works, and show you. Hopefully i can finally get my coding computer connected to the internet around tuesday, so i can post my most recent .bin files. My girlfriend is already getting mad about me using her laptop all the time... Mike
  18. That might work, but if ithat's a visual advancement compared to the screen without a backdrop, i don't know...
  19. Using alternating scanlines, one showing walls, platforms and bombs and the other showing a backdrop would be possible without too much hassle. Someone here who wants to convert Nathans Sphinx into usable PF data for the experiment? edit/addendum: How are you getting pics into 1-bit mode (8 pixels = one byte) and reading the data out? I want to use that for my title screen, and the usual suspects (jpg, bmp, etc) don't seem to output the right data code. edit2: Okay, i found out about this: Photoshop->convert to Bitmap, load into Hexeditor, copy hex as string into clipboard, paste into asm editor program.

  21. If the reference is to Atari Pac Man, shouldn't the enemies appear one at a time on successive frames? Perhaps in the order 1-3-2-4 so it doesn't simply appear as left-right motion? I had the exactly same thought when seeing this...
