In public, I introduce myself as "CPUWIZ"

It certainly seems like Atari and DC should have turned out more than one game. I wonder if there was some conflict between the two Warner divisions.

Humanoids From The Deep!
"They come not to kill . . . But to mate."

I was going to suggest that the Retro Rangers make a "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" sign for their clubhouse, but that probably isn't necessary.
I'll be here all week, folks. Two drink minimum.

My "Will To Live" power meter is now depleted.

I'm a classic gaming fanatic, yet if someone introduced himself as "the Atari Ranger" I still might have to slap him.
People already think that game players are nerdy. There's no need to amplify said nerdiness.

My Dinner With Andre (Mangia hack)

Atari is crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle.

When I think of "adventure" I think of Remo Williams.

Pitfall Harry would never have been created without inspiration from Indiana Jones. RT is right, older players knew immediately that Pitfall was a "Raiders" experience. Activision sure knew how to sell games.

It is 100% Ubi's fault no matter who their developer was. The publisher carries the ultimate responsibitlity of deciding which games are released. They can easily delay or cancel a bad game. When they release shit, it's because they want to make a quick buck at the expense of gamers.
If a bad show is on NBC, it's NBC's fault because they control the means of distribution. Same goes for a radio station or a book publisher or a video game publisher.

How about you guys getting a clue and realizing that a very small percent of the population gives a fuck about classic games? Why don't you go up and demand to see their covered wagon supplies while you're at it? Or bitch up a storm because they didn't understand your request for a replica Monkeemobile? Why the hell are you people so egotistical that you expect the whole world to share your devotion to a 30-year old game system? It's a specialty market. Get used to that fact.
You all sound like a buch of old women trying to get into a Sunday white sale.

In keeping with their current pricing strategy, Sony has announced that everyone who purchases a PS3 will be teabagged by a fat, sweaty naked man. According to Sony, "The Blu-Ray is a fabulous device for repurchasing the movies that people already own. We believe that Playstation fans will be thrilled to take a face full of hairy nutsack if we tell them to. In order to get the fully loaded version, gamers will be required to drink a cup of Howard Stringer's urine. We're number one and we can't be stopped. Ha ha ha."

That article says that Lieberman is virtually guaranteed a victory this fall running as an independent. The Democratic Party doesn't like him, but most of Connecticut does.
The poster didn't even RTFA? What is this, Slashdot?

What about those disclaimers for Pac-Man and Defender? It's clear that they knew that they were going to take shit.
That catalog also proves that everyone had plenty of warning about Pac-Man

A Hot Topic? I don't see any teenage girls in fishnet and too much eye makeup.
Dammit.

Let's here it, List the ones you have not rolled and wecan assume the number of games you have rolled VS the number of known unique 2600 titles.
I would have if you'd have spelled "hear" correctly.
-
It would be easier to list the games that I haven't turned over.

Fall Guy was supposed to be out in 82, so it was probably listed in an earlier catalog. Nobody ever told the catalog people that it never showed up.
Cosmic Avenger and Turbo made many catalog appearances. It's interesting that the 82 Imagic titles were on clearance, while the older Coleco and Parker games were not.
-
That's fantastic because this is a post-crash clearance sale. They probably had a prior catalog which announced Fall Guy before the cancellation. The new designer just copied the list to promoted the Fox liquidation.
The best are the G.A.M.E.S. ads from that era, they offered every game that had ever been announced. There are some real shockers to be found on their lists.
It just shows how far in advance this stuff had to be printed in the days before Kinkos. The Hulk and Octopussy were heavily advertised in many comics and magazines.

Do you think that the ship was "venetian blinded" at one time? That seems like a strange thing to make up.
And, as always, atariprotos.com kicks ass in a major way.
-
The early catalog pics of Defender looked quite a bit different.
http://www.atariage.com/catalog_page.html?...;currentPage=16
On atariprotos I saw that an early version has been found in which the colors are different, but still looks like the final version. What was the story with the venetian blind ship seen in that first catalog? Could it have been an attempt to avoid flicker? Or is it just a horrible artist rendering?
Also notice that in this catalog and this catalog alone, the blurns for Pac-Man and Defender include a disclaimer that the home versions differ from the original. They must have had a couple of nervous lawyers at the time.

Let he who does not have a bootlegged .bin on his PC cast the first stone.

Is anyone still making arcade games for the US market?

The only genres that make any money are sports, gaming, racing and fighting games. A manufacturer would be foolish to make anything else right now. Arcades are not what they once were. I feel sorry for those who didn't get to hang out in the classic darkly-lit, Pepsi-soaked drug dens of 1980.
