  1. Just hack the taxi from Jammed into a Kissmobile and you're there!
  2. I'm laughing all right. Before you even think about coding, how about getting realistic about acquiring the rights. KISS would sue you for even proposing the idea. Do you really think KISS needs any help with their merchandising? If they want to do a video game don't you think they can acquire their own programmers? Don't you think that KISS know how to get thieir products into stores without your help? Much like making a Futurama game, you simply will not be allowed to do this. I don't want to hear all the "maybe and "I have a great plan" bullshit. Call them today and make your pitch. Don't even bring this subject up again until you've spoken to KISS management and they've gotten a laugh themselves.
  3. I'd rather play Atari Pac-Man for a solid week than play one game of Wizard.
  4. Do you want to publish a new game like AtariAge does? Do you just want a copy for yourself to play? Do you want the real designer to let you take all the credit? Why would you want to hire a programmer? You could never make the money back that you spent. The Andrews, Thomases, and Pauls of this world have their own ideas to make use of. I bet they can name you a price to make it worth their while though. But really, what would you expect to get out of this?
  5. I can't believe that Wizard didn't show up as a "Sears Exclusive"
  6. Astronomers can't decide between "your-in-us" and "Your-ay-nus" either I guess. Let's just pronouce it "SHAR-DAY"
  7. Ah, touche. I totally blanked on that game.
  8. That would be the problem, most of us were kids. I can't remember exactly when I bought my Super Nintendo let alone my Ataris.
  9. It may well be the date, I can't remember when we got this unit. An interesting note: we bought it from Sears and it is clearly labled as a VCS.
  10. Are you looking to get widespread attention or just among the classic game fans? I think you could get some great mainstream press over this. It makes a point of how with innovative usage, even supposedly anacrhonistic technology can stay competitive. It even ties into some senior citizen appeal, "Just because someone of something is old, that doesn't mean they can't show the young ones a trick or two." For some great press you could animate Katie Couric and go on the Today show. Right now the 80s fad is still smoldering and perhaps even the new Atari would be interested in promoting their label by showing off your work.
  11. Another thread got me looking for the serial number of my second Atari my family bought (the first Telegames being lost to the ages). The serial number is 70447L which is apparenly among the earliest systems around, but there are some other things i never noticed before. The label is stamped with a red RECONDITION and a black 1380. It is also initialed in blue ballpint by E-H-W. I didn't know that this was a reconditioned unit until now. I was wondering the meaning of the 1380 (maybe the 1380th they repaired) and who the hell EHW is.
  12. Ive got 70447L. Looks like that would put me at 27th.
  13. I can have my stripper friends make a short video featuring creative usage of Atari joysticks.
  14. Of course they didn't share code, I'm just asking if we should give him credit for figuring out how to do the first 2600 dot-eater. We don't condemn Indy 500 just because they would later do a much better racing game (Sprint). It's always been said that the first programmer to attempt a new trick has it the hardest. Of course Ms.Pac-Man was better, just like Stargate was a better translation than 2600 Defender. Don't we have to start somewhere? If Pac-Man had been released after games like Lock'N'Chase then I would be slamming him too because he already has examples of better code. I will believe you 2600 programming wizards if you say he was simply lazy but I've always wondered if we should give him the benefit of trying it first.
  15. Every time I've hears an astronomy professor refer to the Pleiades, it is always pronounced "play-uh-deez." The name is certainly named after that star cluster so I'm going with it.
  16. If you want some attention there's always Kournikova. That still of her you that made was sweet. Though maybe you won't want to use anything with a copyright.
  17. I first played the SNES in the Nintendo Championships at Ohio State. I bombed because I couldn't figure out Pilot Wings. Super Mario was also one of the competition games but I can't remember the third and final game. I want to say F-Zero but i gotta research this. I've always wondered why I only hear about the first Nintendo competition. I first started entering them in the year of Mario Bros 3/Pinbot/Dr.Mario as the games. If you could hit the 100,000 bonus target in Pinbot at the first shot then you could really clean up at Dr.Mario. I made the finals at Ohio State, in which I finally missed the money shot at Pinbot.
  18. I enjoyed the game when it first came out. I also thought that the Atari probably couldn't do better and I wasn't enough of an arcade fan to demand accuracy. After Jawbreaker and Ms.PacMan I never wanted to play the original again. Much like I stopped playing Breakaway IV (Sears version guys) when Super Breakout was released. (BTW, Super Breakout was a Sears exclusive over its first Xmas season). I say that if it wasn't called Pac-Man, it would be appreciated today for being the first Atari dot-eater. We all know it's easier to improve on an original than it is to make the first game. Would Ms.PacMan have been as ood without Tod Frye's game to build upon? There's still no excuse for using the wrong colors.
  19. I've never loved any videogame more than Tempest. I think that was the peak.
  20. The Earthbound series (called Mother in Japan) is really aimed at kids. Mother was for NES and unreleased here, Mother 2 became Earthbound. Nintendo of Japan is relasing both together on a GBA cart. Enjoy, or not.
  21. Check out this project, he even turned a Star Raiders cart into an optical mouse. http://members.cox.net/ofs_labs/atari.htm
  22. Yes, I thought that was the table of carts being sent out that day. I guess there aren't many Funky Fish arcade fans out there, although think this 2600 version is a lot of fun.
  23. Now I'm curious about what an AA "Top Ten" chart would look like. Looks like Pleaides was the top seller by one cart.
  24. X-Man. But it had nothing to do with Atari memories.
  25. I have all the games already running on my emulator, but I like the whole packaging of the Cyberpunks' disc. Between that, a Cuttle Cart, and those mouth-watering UA releases (damn you for tempting me AtariAge) I'm gonna blow a bundle on the hobby this summer.
