  1. Not true, cause I have one and it also comes with a Tank Plus cart and Tetris. I'll be selling this system on ebay soon.
  2. Let's settle this right now. . . Higinbotham's Oscilloscope! 2600 edges out NES in my opinion.
  3. I believe that this is because the owners of the copyrights are still attempting to make money off the games. You notice that Activision games aren't available here for the same reason. No one feels any problem with distributing a game that is completely out-of-print and never going to be again. Such games should be in the public domain. However if the Starpath owners still want to make use of the programs, that changes the matter into pure copyright infringement. However, we also have the issue that most of us will never have a prayer of owning a Supercharger, and therefore can only play these games through an emulator. I really don't think that the Starpath guys would lose a single sale from distributing the ROMs. If I ever get a Supercharger then I will be begging for a "Stella" CD and collecting any reproduction tapes they might make, even though I obtained the ROMs years ago. We always argue that distributing ROMs won't hurt the sales of collector-worthy editions. Do we really believe that or not?
  4. I think he was actually referring to venereal disease.
  5. Interesting. I notice that "A Game of" was usually written in smaller letters. Maybe Atari realized that they could get away with the name that way? Kind of like making a quix videogame called "A Game of Jeopardy"
  6. You must have been young. I actually wasn't very interested in Pitfall until I playtested it, I was all excited about Megamania at the time. I was hooked on Pitfall immediately. Never got a perfect score.
  7. Our point: a contest will not make a game sell A good game doesn't need a contest. The name Swordquest will be forever linked with spoiled promises. Therefore, no one will ever do this idea again.
  8. I'll concede that point. Though I would compare Zeppelin to a moden-day Bach while KISS would be drunken minstrels wandering through the plague section. Man, I'm just bein too negative. I love AC-DC and they're not exactly intricate. I guess I just can't stand KISS. They are the biggests sell-outs around, that's what really offends me. But I can understand why people enjoy them. It is all relative, so I will admit that KISS is all right when compared to Andrew WK. As they say: opinions are like assholes, we all have one and they're all full of shit. What have we learned? There was no KISS game planned for Atari and I can be a real jerk.
  9. Ask Gene Simmons a question? How much do I have to pay him? Do I have to charge it to my KISS credit card? Do I have to wear a KISS shirt while I ask. Do I have to promise to buy a $70 ticket to their next pathetic reunion tour. Everyone has opinions, but KISS is blatant low-quality simple-minded headbanging bullshit. Compare them to real heavy musicians like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. They were great showmen and master marketers, but their music is made for retarded garage mechanics.
  10. "Concentration" was a popular 70s gameshow identical to this game. I believe that Atari tried to get away with borrowing the title, but later reconsidered and renamed it.

As Freud said: sometimes a dot is just a dot
  12. That's what I thought. Try these games on MAME. Both scores are possible, but very challenging and based on luck (you better have readily available flies to eat).
  13. Was he playing the arcade version or 2600? I only remember arcade games on Starcade. If he was playing the arcade game, you can't compare it to the 2600 at all.
  14. Save that Killer Instinct shirt for another 10 years. Right now, the 2600 fans are old enough to be hyper-nostalgic and have jobs to pay for overpriced memorabilla. In a few years the Nintendo kids will be in the same position. You'll make a fortune.
  15. I never cared about Pac Man in the old days, which is why I wasn't disappointed. I was a pure shooter fan. The first dot-eater that I got into was Lady Bug. I can now kick serious ass at Ms Pac Man as well. I cannot fathom why Tod Frye didn't at least program the colors correctly. I can see why arcade fans were let down. Don't you think this may have contributed to the rise of Colecovision? I'd say that PacMan and Swordquest were the real 2600 killers, not ET. Arcade and adventure fans were seriously burned and looking for something new. I need to add that I was expecting Tunnels and Trolls as well as Dracula for my new Colecovision. Damn you and your vaporware Coleco!
  16. I notice that you made sure to include two upskirt pictures of Princess. Nice touch. Remember kids, you can't have sex with a woman made of celluloid and paint. Believe me, I've tried.
  17. Very pathetic. Reminds me of how Axl Rose used to drink iced tea out of a Jack Daniels bottle. We'd respect these guys more if they didn't try to pretend. I always thought that KISS sucked. A bunch of money-hungry low-talent swine. Wait, for some reason im thinking about Metallica now.
  18. It's not made by Atari. Has no contest. Needs to hope that Atari doesn't suddenly get aggressive about protecting their copyrights. Not relevant here (but still really cool).
  19. I'm a bigtime Crumb fan. He would HATE the idea of a video game based on his characters. His experiences dealing with the Fritz mivies soured him on all forms of licensing. People should see the movie "Crumb" even if they're not cartoon fans.
  20. Bad idea all around. The Swordquest concept? Just a name and a contest. Why bring back the name Swordquest when it already has a bad reputation? Include a comic book with the game? That won't sell a game. The .hack idea is a multi-media marketing campaign from people with experience in the appropriate areas. Sure it can be done by someone else, but again why soil it with the name Swordquest? Why don't we see the contest concept these days? Because it doesn't sell a game. No one will buy a shitty game just to enter a contests, the sales figures for latter Swordquest games prove it. Other contests have been run to help sell a bad game and they weren't successful either.
  21. Okay, let's finish this off with some humor of the poorest taste: Let's convert Towering Inferno into the Great White:Escape game!!!
  22. I completely agree. However I think that he was led to believe that we all expect and demand all of these collector's editions. I'm sure that he is smart enough to know how to do a CGE release and make some cash if he wants to. He just wanted to know what we wanted. The answer was: everything and more.
  23. Come on, Room. You still need multiple editions of an UNFINISHED game? How about just asking the programmers to make the ROM available and offer assistance if they want to do anything more with it. There isn't enough money in this business to promote the profit margin. You know it will end up being packaged and sold anyway. Don't even tease us with the thought of a Fulop/Jentzsch collaboration.
  24. Let's stick to the R.Crumb characters here. Keep on truckin'.
  25. And the collection fetishists remain silent. I'm thinking that many people realized that they were being jerks and want it to let it drop. Can we agree that the next time such a game is offered, our number one concern should be making the ROM available to the masses. Let people get a chance to play it and if they want a cute cartridge box to stick on their shelf then they can pay for it themselves. Especially for an incomplete prototype like this one. Do any of you people really feel that deluxe packaging is what's important for an unplayable game? Convince the programmers to release it to everyone. Let the game be the most important thing.
