Advice on receiving damaged goods from Ebay please
riffraff replied to Chickybaby's topic in Auction Central
Sorry to hear that chicky. I know you were looking forward to getting that LP. Hopefully with the new ebay feedback system coming in place it will be easier to spot the ebay boneheads and those who can't be bothered to ship stuff properly. -

Yeha I saw the $499 starting bid. I think that was a product of .20 auction day =) -
very nice looking boxes.

price values of gunfight and space treat Hozer editions...?
riffraff replied to lucifershalo's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Most famous ones were Road Runner's Death Valley Rally and Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions both for SNES. I did some games for Turbografx-16, c64, and Sega Saturn (the Saturn game didn't get finished). CPUWIZ worked at the same company as I did in the early 90's. I got kinda sidetracked lately doing web pages, cell phone games, and playing stupid online games while CPUWIZ continues to enjoy working on leading edge consoles. Grrr! =) -

I couldn't help to notice the font seemed familliar.. =) Any relationship to EPYX? besides the same font and it's XYPE backwards =) I had an Epyx artist work on my first game. Her name was Jenny if any of you guys remember her.. she did art for California Games too. I remember her telling me about the amazing Handy handheld game machine Epyx was working on (which most know came out as the Atari Lynx). -
Yep.. to my knowledge I don't have a source of free ones, and it is about 35% of the cost of buying them 1 small bag at a time. I try and pack everything very well and so far I haven't heard anyone complain about the extra .50 or so to do it.

Okie Dokie #95/100 Original Run, Kevtris #30/100
riffraff replied to riffraff's topic in Auction Central
There's something about Kevtris. Not many have come up for sale since it's original run. I've been told that 2 were sold on ebay, the first one went for $100 or so, the one before this one went for $300. Maybe it's because okie dokie had at least 1 other run after the original 100. Not sure why the difference but I'm very happy with the final prices. -
Some more treasures unearthed from boxes of stuff unopened for a decade. This time, what appears to be a combination of original and copies of every Arcadian newsletter ever made. Included are some photos of some pages contained within. This stuff is amazing to me! If it hasn't been done before, I'd like to work on preserving this history. If anyone is an expert and wants to help with this, let me know. I don't have a scanner at the moment but they aren't very expensive to get. Some of the pages have ink transferred from one page to another but all the pages are still legible and in one piece. I'd say about 50% of the newsletters are not copies, and have original stamps on (going back to 15 cent stamp in some cases!). Also I've got this strange BASIC cartridge that has no port to interface with a tape recorder. I love old Bally Astrocade stuff. I pulled out my white Bally last night and will see if it works tonight. No dust cover and it's kinda banged up, I wouldn't mind getting a better one if any come for sale. Also I'm looking for any Bally games or hardware that I don't have yet. The viper shown in some of these pages seems pretty sick

Worst game trade you've ever made?
riffraff replied to Scumdogg's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I traded away an original die cast Starship Yamato complete in the box for a loose 2600 crazy climber with some writing on the label. I sold my Boba Fett as a kid for $1 or so. Those stick out -
You got that right. Me, I just buy a whole bunch of stuff from Jibbajaba's famous sales posts! He packs your box with enough peanuts and packing that you won't have to buy any packing materials for quite a while! Oh, and he's got great stuff to boot! Thanks again Chris! Ok, call me the SUPER SUCKER!! I bought this bad boy from UPS Store for $30 =)
-
If you are going to send stuff priority mail, the post office (and ebay too) will send you boxes for free. They have 6x6x6 boxes which are the smallest "free" ones I've seen. Of course if you are sending overseas you can't use priority mail boxes.. I go to the UPS store to buy these in this case. For ebay auctions I add the cost of the box into the handling charge.

2600 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs #62/250
riffraff replied to riffraff's topic in Auction Central
Yeah that must have been my 2nd trip to that booth. The other copy I have has a lower number. For not wanting to spend a lot of money at that show I did a poor job =) At the time I was really not sure which games were homebrews and which were "unreleased protos". It was kinda crazy having so many classic games for sale in one place. The old phrase "kid in a candy store" certainly applied! Only a few more months for this year's. -
If this is interesting, here ya go: Atari 2600 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs #62/250 Nice looking artwork.

Thinking of buying some homebrews finally

I actually haven't played too many HB's yet. Some on my list to try: Midevil Mayhem, Ladybug. -

Thrust is better than 99% of the production games. -
I'd pull Mystery House for Lemonade Stand or Oregon Trail. This list is so retarded I'm not discussing it anymore =)

The Atari 2600 collector Hall of Fame (2007)
riffraff replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
Yeah .. very few people here remember what anyone did 10+ years ago tho. I thought I'd show up on someone's list but nobody really remembers anything I did either lol. Oh well it could be like DP's forums where nobody remembers anything past when the Sega Genesis came out. -
Very dissapointing situation! What can i do in a case like this?
riffraff replied to Atarimania75's topic in Auction Central
This sounds like a crime of opportunity. He meant to start the bidding at $20, made it a BIN of $20 and oops. 1 neg is worth fixing it up I'm sure is what he's thinking. Maybe also he didn't think you would neg him because of your 100%. As much as I'd like some boxes here I'll not bid. He probably is a trustworthy seller in general, just didn't want to eat the loss on his mistake. Because of the community here and Atarimania75 bringing his cheap shot into the light, I think it will have a larger impact in his future sales than he may have realized. -
Why do I think my copy is going to be lost in the mail for a couple weeks now for that joke?? =)
-
Al, sorry to report.. while you were building the pyramid the testing department found a fatal crash on the title screen.

Most of the ID'ing has been done. And they're being treated really nice, my bed is very comfortable. I've actually let them share the bed with some NTSC carts during this ID'ing/sorting process. The physical contact between PAL and NTSC is illegal in 47 states, thank god I live in Nevada. At some point I'm going to have to get them out of there and take care of this sleep deprevation tho.
-
Thanks Rom Hunter. I'm a little cranky because I didn't sleep last night.. I have these damn pal carts all over my bed trying to fit them into some slot in my database. I looked over many different sites for any picture of this cart but couldn't find one. I think if the cart scan collections that were on the web were a bit more complete I'd have less stress with these. Atarimania's resource has been a great help and so far saved these pal carts from a very painful death. =) I still don't have a scanner but will try a decent picture if I can get some good lighting going. (last bulb just died when I was taking the pic of this cart, hence the flash..)
-
why did they choose 52? Are they making a deck of cards? Instead of Saddam as the ace of spades it's Mario?
-
I'm mad because there are pal carts in the world. And I've spent FAR too much time trying to identify which company made this garbage.
