What is the first RPG you beat? Ever?
riffraff replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Epic, Epic game. That damned Lich near the end was hard as hell. I loved this game, you could fail a battle many times if you didn't use the right strategy/get lucky. Paralyze spell was the best. I hated not being able to level your characters past level 10 or whatever the max was. -
What is the first RPG you beat? Ever?
riffraff replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It's funny - I beat this game before the Sega call-in Hint team had any notes on it at all. I sent my contact there a walkthru and a videotape of the ending, she was kind enough to send me a huge stack of SMS hints/cheats. Wish I knew where this stuff went. As for first RPG beaten.. hmm. Does adventure count? Dragonstomper? I played Temple of Apshai but I'm sure I didn't beat it.. same with Oubliette. Wizardry 6 was a satisfying win. I put it as my favorite game of all time (at the time). I'd say it still resides in my top-10. There has to be one before Phantasy Star for me but my memory fails me. -
it's clearly the two point six kay.

Yet, after almost 15 years.. Ultima Online servers are still up & running =) I wonder why EA keeps them up. I guess there are still enough subscribers to pay for them.

The system itself is worth more than the games usually but it has to be working. Hook it up, test it out (do not place it on a carpet, the system can be damaged if it overheats). I haven't priced systems in some time but working machines are definitely in demand. -
10% off.. All right!

What is your favorite A8 SPORTS title? No Ballblazer! REAL
riffraff replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Did they ever make the "realsports baseball" game that was on the 5200 into an Atari 8 format? That's what I'd vote for If not then the star league baseball was ok. I never had an Atari 8 as a kid but it probably played the same as the c-64 version. -
It's probably not going to happen. There may be an "arcade" version down the road (not anytime soon) when we get carts larger than 8k. I had drawn art for the things that didn't make it like the "gorilla" "helicopter" etc. Some day...

Combined purchases on ePay not appreciated
riffraff replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Auction Central
In two cases like that I specifically uncombined the purchase and made sure to pay for one, wait for it to ship, then pay for the next. I order my Amazon items the same way since they charge you a ship fee for each item in the marketplace. If you are paying full price, you should certainly get each in its own package. Dang Ax, you are a crafty one =) Probably gets you some extra boxes to use for when you are shipping stuff out. -

riffraff replied to riffraff's topic in Auction Central
Yeah I usually open mine as well. The starpath collection was an exception tho as I figured I'd probably not hook up a tape recorder so never actually "play" the original games on the tape format. Some large "complete but open" auctions coming up in the next couple days. -
Final price $525. Why couldn't my SW'd startropics go for that much?

Since ebay started charging a fee on shipping charges I would think it's more important than ever to try and combine shipping. (If someone pays for items seperately and then wants combined shipping, you don't get reimbursed for fees lost to ebay.) Sounds like it will work out for you. I'm surprised this guy doesn't care more about his fb score. -
I'm not happy to sell it but times are really tough for me right now. <6 hours left.

A side-deal was made and the auction cancelled. This is something I have never done before or wish to do again. I had discussed selling this lot with the buyer back in 2009 and had forgotten about that conversation until I ran across it quite by accident while looking for another. I sincerely apologize.

I noticed the end-label of this Ballblazer does not match any of the descriptions here: http://www.atariage.com/system_labels.html?SystemID=7800 Anyone know about it?

My memories of 2-player intv fun was centered around the sports games. MLB, NFL, and NHL were all quite fun. I often did not have very good competition. I think I stole home 2 or 3 times in one game against my friend. I think Boxing was the best 2-player game. It was a mind game as much as anything, and probably the only boxing game I can remember that had a "feign" button I remember thinking how good the sports games were compared with the 2600 tho. Atari 5200's came after and blew them out of the water tho. Soccer, Realsports Baseball, etc. were quite a leap ahead.

Is Colecovision the best supported vintage format?
riffraff replied to gooner73's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Taking regular orders for Bally War now. Will be shipping in the next 3 weeks. The game was done in 2007, the first print was done in 2010. This is a 2nd print as the first one was only 20 copies. There won't be another run. Now I did not mean to derail this thread. It may be some time before we can claim that the Bally is the most supported vintage format I have a lot of games planned. -
War for the Bally Astrocade - 2nd print (30). SOLD OUT
riffraff replied to riffraff's topic in Bally Arcade/Astrocade
Just as a note, I should have mentioned, this includes Cart, DVD case (box), and Manual, just like the first print. The dumb-ai bug was fixed and 2012 is on the copyright, other than that it's the same game. Mike G.
