  1. If those were the only choices, I'd stick to one button games... ...but I voted for the europad.

  3. Some prize samples. Remember, if you don't want one for yourself, you can always have me anonymously mail it to some other address...
  4. UPDATE: Do you like free prizes with free shipping? This year, the top twenty participants will receive a 2 1/4" tall figurine from a Garbage Pail Kids advent calendar! Suitable for display, collecting dust, or as a replacement board game token- revitalize Monopoly with a "Smelly Shelly!" First place gets first pick. I'll post the list of characters once they're all opened. Why only 20, you ask? Because I bought it on clearance last year and there's missing pieces... We now return to round 2: It's getting a wee bit chilly up North. It's time to warm up with some Winter Games Settings: Speed Skating. 5. You made it in time, cutoff is Midnight, central time
  6. From 2003ish to 2021, it was 100% 7800. Recently, I got my hands on a Sears H6, and I wish I had done so sooner. There's just something about it- maybe the colors, maybe the mystique- that make it stand above the rest. I've tried light 6, modded vader, bog standard woody, jr, CV expansion module, stella, 5200 adapter, and flashbacks, but none feel the same.
  7. I'd look for a 4 switch woodgrain 2600. It's probably the most common model. There shouldn't be any compatibility issues with any 2600 games, and the chips are socketed. It will be RF output only (unles someone modded it) but that's true of all 2600 consoles.
  8. I usually start on cherries or banana. Pear throws me off a little, but I got lucky and had an excellent run this morning.
  9. I got some four-way action going with Warlords once, but that's another story.
  10. Coleco Chameleon prototype #2
  11. I have Saboteur and Aquaventure on Harmony. It would be nice to try Yars Return, and I'd like to see what a new cart looks like, but $50 is pretty steep. Plus they act like it's some unreleased sequel they created and own from 1983, which is ignorant. One step forward, two steps backward.
  12. Welcome all to another season of the 7800 high score club! All files are available in Trebor's 7800 ROM PROPack version 3_8, but you are also encouraged to use the physical cartridges when available. Trebors 7800 ROM PROPack - 8BitDev.org - Atari 7800 Development Wiki There will be ten rounds. Each round lasts three weeks. Top score earns at least ten points. If there are more than ten players, the botton score will get one point and the points will go up from there (in this round, there were 14 players, so the top score got 14 points) Get or break a high score to earn 2 extra points. High score records are located here: 7800 HSC Records - 7800 High Score Club - AtariAge Forums We go by the honor system, but pictures are encouraged. Emulation is fine, but no save states etc. There will be opportunities to vote on future games. There will be bonus challenges for bonus points. Let the games begin! 13. Thanks for the reminder I'll get it started November 16- that will give me a few days to plan it out.
  14. Resident Evil 2: I loved the first game, exploring an abandoned mansion infested with zombies. Game 2 starts with walking around an infested town and talking to people. Tomb Raider 2: The first game was exploration and 3D platforming. The second game starts out sliding down a hill with no control. I gave up on both after one day, and several years have passed, so it could be faulty memories, but both games left a bad first impression.
  15. I'm almost tempted to buy an Ataribox. This thread has provided value and entertainment over the years. To think that djmcdonald demanded all critical threads be locked a week ago, and there's been about a page of text every day since then. I wonder if ha had kept quiet, would there had been so much activity? The only things holding me back from purchase at this point is the price ($50 seems reasonable) the convenience (No in store units nearby because most chains won't carry it) and the fact that I have no need or desire for anything it offers (I play Dark Chambers on a real 7800).
  16. 2022 is very soon (weeks not months) can't wait to see the 50th anniversary marketing blitz
  17. Keep an eye on the order number thread, they just passed the 10k mark for all games sold. Some people likely bought multiple games, some people likely bought none, but it's the best estimate we have for gauging atari community engagement. 30-40 different games available, with a total of 10k sold makes an average around 300 copies of each game sold since launch. Not too shabby for a homebrew title, but this isn't a homebrew console.
  18. I love Demon Attack and Astroblast. I really like Adventures of Tron and Dark Cavern, but only kind of like Cosmic Ark and Atlantis. M Network wins by a hair.
  19. I bought a Concerto at the first opportunity, from someone who got the pre release at a convention iirc. I have a Harmony and used to have a 5200 flashcart. Concerto is closest to Harmony in that you can add games and subfolders without having to reflash the whole cart. More than 95% of the games work 100% for me. For the rare games that don't behave (Midnight Mutants iirc) I have the original cart so it's not a big deal. I love the convenience of having almost everything on one easy to use cart. I especially like being able to try wip homebrews. I usually wind up buying the finished games, but it's nice to be able to try them early. When the new features come to the Concerto with the updates, that's just icing on the cake.
  20. I leave them on, it's fun to remember the old stores- kmart, zayre, venture, toys r us, etc.
