It's got some good and bad things. On maps, go to "3D" and select "Hybrid" - looks awesome! Bad: Hate the new color for telephone dialing - I can hardly see the difference between the numbers and the buttons.

Yeah, I made a call after upgrading and was surprised by the keypad color. I like the old one better. I use the Maps app all the time, so hopefully it doesn't suck too much.

Performance is better than iOS 5. Still has slow moments, though not flaming-bamboo-under-finger-nails slow
