Really? What about the Xbox Live arcade? Atari could have some of the classic arcade games on there. And you can't have an Atari game on a Nintendo console, my good man. That'd be like putting a diamond in a dog turd.

Or perhaps more consoles. (FB3?)

Those Super Joys are really popular with the portablization crowd as they make for really small NES portables. If you want to see some of that action, check out some of Ben Heckendorn's work over at benheck.com. Have you heard of NES-on-a-chip? If not, I suggest you read up on it.

If I'm not mistaken the PS3 has free online play, too. And while the 360's online costs money, It's a better setup than the Wii's.

I was just reading around on engadget and found this article: http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/23/total-w...-360-worldwide/ Apparently, the Wii has either outsold the 360 worldwide or soon will . And the article is three weeks old now which means the Wii may be further ahead. I personally find it irritating that a console that is, hardware-wise, a generation behind is winning. And I don't want to hear "Oh, but the Wii is more powerful than any last gen system!". Yea, it is, but when your competitors are offering 3.2 GHz processors, hard drives, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, cutting-edge graphics, and online play, and all you have is a 700 MHz processor, 512 megs of flash memory, and still lack the ability to play DVD's, you know you aren't exactly equal to them. Oh, and I just wanted to get my opinion out. I don't want to start any flame wars.

PSP vs DS (the thread to end it all...)
Cheez27 replied to EricDeLee's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Now For MY two cents: I own a PSP, my brother has a DS, and I play both systems frequently. I think the DS is incredibly child-oriented. The only games I've played for it are Pokemon, Avatar, and Spyro, and while I find them fun they really aren't what I'm into. I absolutely love the GTA games and have both PSP versions. And I can say without a doubt I have spent more time in GTA:LCS than any DS game. Games aside, though, the PSP just feels better. When I first played DS I got thumb cramps. And I don't like having to switch between using the stylus and the buttons. Not to mention the DS lacks an analog stick or nub. I love that on the PSP. The two screens are kind of convinient. It seems less cluttered. But even those two screens together aren't as good as the PSP screen. So anyway, that's my opinion on the subject. -
Wow, That article is riddled with BS. And the Lynx is estimated to have sold 750,000 consoles.

Okay, I fixed the problem. As it turns out, the positive ends of the rechargeable batteries are just a hair shorter than those of alkalines, and therefore weren't reaching the end of the terminal. I slid some aluminum foil in between the batteries and the metal they are supposed to connect to and it worked. Thanks for the help, anyway.

I have a Lynx I. I checked all six batteries with a multimeter and they all work. I'll try some of the things you said.

I'm using some off-brand I found at Walmart. Here is a pic of what they look like: Maybe I should use Energizers

I tried to put some rechargeable batteries (NiMh) in my Lynx I and found a few problems. The batteries were really hard to get in, and when I did get them in the Lynx wouldn't turn on. I know that the batteries were working. But they are 1.25V. Is the voltage too low? Need some help here.

When I play Yar's Return the whole screen is jittery and blurry. The further I get in the game, it seems to get worse and eventually almost unplayable. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just how the game is? I have a Rev. C board.

I'm not really sure where to put this post seeing as there isn't a general discussion atari forum. If someone knows where to put this then please tell me. I think I have a good plan for what Atari should start doing. How about becoming just a retro gaming company? The Flashback 2 is fine and all, but what if they recreated all the classic systems? I mean the 2600, 5200, 7800, Lynx, and Jaguar. They could be fully compatable with old games, but also with new ones. There are so many homebrew programmers out there and I'm sure at least some of them would love to have their games being sold in game stores all over the place. Think about it. How cool would it be if you could go down to your local game store and see the wall covered in brand new Atari cartridges? Or Jaguar Cds? I think it could be the Atari's second golden age. I don't know if someone else has posted something like this. If so, sorry for wasting everyone's time.
