In just about every Atari, there is always that wire coil wrapped around a peice of plastic that sticks straight up from the board. What are these things? Are they needed? Also, when some a/v mod instructions say to remove the rf modulator, what does the rf modulator all consist of? Do you remove everything under the RF shield, or just a certain component?

I like the boot rom mod. I may have to perform this. Would you need to mod the rom in order to use the Compact flash card? What about Homebrew games? Do they all pass the encryption? With the rom mod, I understand you could send a rom from your computer to your jaguar. Is that correct? That compact flash cart sounds awesome though. The analog/digital circuit...Does any Jag software even support analog controllers? What would be the benefit?

Ya thats what I was thinking. If I was only allowed in the USA this would be worth the road trip. Hope it goes to a good home and I tip my hat to the topic starter as being very selfless in giving away such a nice peice (and an expensive one at that). Not allowed in the USA.. That's funny. That is really cool to give away. I wish I could pick it up. I hope the new owner never sells it like the current owner requests.

Hm, what can you do with the rom switched??? Sounds interesting, but unsure what can be done with that mod. But the best one will arrive??? What would that be? Any clue?

I know there has to be some cool mods for Jaguar. Preferably mods that actually perform some task. What are they?

Oh man, now is definatly the wrong time to buy a jag.. the last ones are going for extreme prices! I sold one to a buddy with the composite cables for $20 a few years ago...Now I regret that sale. I never thought the prices would get that extreme. Now I kind of have to buy one, cos I bought AvP off shawn sr. I wanted to play that game when I still had a jag, but the ebay prices were always out of my price range. Now I have the game, but no Jag. Thanks for the heads-up with the Sweetstuff4u guy! He sounds like a real prick. I will avoid his ebay presence at all costs.

I was thinking about putting a trimpot in, until I saw that the certain colors got reversed. I'll try it out anyway, anything is worth a shot. Ill have to take a pic of the TV screen, so you can see for your self what I am talking about. It's just too weird to not see.

its kinda hard to describe... It seems when I hook the Chroma up, all the luminance dissapears. When the chroma is disconnected, there is a nice picture that is monochrome. everything seems to be as it should until the chroma is connected. then the bright whites seem to dissapear. And when the blimp goes by the colours on the blimp seem to be inversed. The blues, greens and etc are correct, though.

Ok, so I modded the 7800 for a/v out according to the F.A.Q. When I booted up the system with Pole Position II, there is no white. Every other color is there, but I have no white? White is the Luminence, Correct? I tore the wires off from the circuit to the 7800 and resoldered them back on, but same results. I went over the circuit once, but im going to go over it again. Any suggestions? When I put a 2600 game in, it looks a little dark, but the colors are right. Maybe the 7800 FAQ has errors, The 5200 Faq has the chroma in the wrong spot. **update** I took the 7800 Chroma lead off the circuit, and the picture looks good except its black and white.. The "prepare to qualify" blimp would be white with black text. When I reconnect the chroma, the blimp turns black with white text. I dont get it. Im using the method found Here.

My 5200 4-port RF switch blew out several years ago. I was using the correct power supply. I was wondering if anyone knows what pin 6 of the IC goes to. If anyone can tell me what Pin 6 goes to, please tell me!!! When the RF switch blew out, it fried the board immediently around the pin, And I cant tell what is supposed to connect there. I would at least attempt to restore this thing. I have adventure II comming soon, and I would like my 5200 back. I went to Radio Ball Sack to do the 5200 power mod, but they did not have the diode the project required. If I order it online, they make you order at least $10 worth of stuff, and I am running low on cash.d I need this thing running one way or another. Here is a pic of the fried modulator. Anyone know what would cause this?

Depends on the mod. From what I understand, not all Dreamcast imports can be loaded with the Utopia bootloader disc. Some require a mod chip. Another popular mod is to increase the power to the drive so that it can read CD-RW discs rather than just CD-Rs. My guess is that he's done the former. You can pretty much boot any disc off a dreamcast, without the need for modification. Imports included. The CD-RW mod I guess I could understand. Hmm. I guess you're right. It would'nt boot original import discs though. I guess if you use official discs you might want this. I was thinking more along the lines of games that are dumped off the GD-Rom and burned on a CD.

I really like the defender art they wound up using. Its one of my favorite cart arts.
