  1. On another note: Anyone order a Pandora? Still waiting on my refund and reorder.
  2. I, too, wish I was there to help. My hands are tied 1500 or so miles northeast of there. I can only imagine the logistics in firing out that sort of quantity. It would be easier to do tae bo for a few hours a day. If it's any consolation folks, I ordered 8 sticks. Some to give out for Christmas etc. But I will hand a few out as random gifts anyway, whenever they do arrive. It's not that big of a deal and I can't wait to see what Curt comes up with next for the Atari ecosystem when he's at optimal health. If gamestop/eb/bestbuy or the like was selling them and it took this long, yes I would be ill with grief. They have resources to get it done in days. Knowing Curt's past and present there's no doubt in my mind that he's trustworthy as any of us and probably more reliable than many of us. I'd have no doubts betting on him. It's a big job for a one man operation. A bigger job for someone pretty much ORDERED by doctors to relax and heal. Let's bite down on another chill pill and remember the humanity involved. PS: GET WELL CURT!!!!!!!!!
  3. What he said. Yellow ones are horrible, almost only good for parts. STE's are easier to upgrade in terms of TOS and RAM. STFMs are difficult to upgrade, but are more compatible with games. It's only a minority which have problems on an STE. I'd guess it's worth a look though. If they're grey and in good condition, then go for it. Certainly since the eBay hey-days all retro kit is getting harder to find. 2004/2005 seemed to be when people were selling anything add-ons everything whether they knew what it was or not. I certainly don't think that I'll find half of the kit that I picked up during those years again. If you're happy with what you see, and that $100 is affordable, and you have that good happy feeling, then buy. That's what it's all about. I couldn't agree more. Early 2000's were good times for ebaying. Now even charities/boot sales/thrifts are referring to ebay for pricing and end up asking a good bit of coin. It's hard to get anything on the cheap these days because of that. An STfm is plenty good if you don't need more than stock performance. Upgrading the ram is a major task.
  4. Those clocks are hellacool!!! :)

Sending some healing vibes your way dude! These things are up and down like a good first date. No worries. :)

  5. Yup Albert made an open call for news submissions. There are a few active projects right now for the various systems. Real news should start flowing again soon. On another note, it's hard to come up with new stories that haven't been covered already since the late 70's in some form. My BIGGEST fear is that one day the internet stops working and Atariage is no longer accessible. Let's be thankful for the ridiculous amount of reading material already here in user generated content alone! PS: Albert! How about a limited edition Atariage archive DVD / BluRay set?
  6. Perhaps I should have been more clear. This just in: Curt Vendel is still trying his best not to die. Subscribe to the free Curt Ain't Dead Yet newsletter and get hourly updates on his condition and how many USB joysticks he has finished, boxed, and labeled while still in bed. Sign him up! And he wants the optional 24/7 Curt webcam subscription for $24.95/mo. All in good fun. I signed up but I have a bit of a problem. When Curt goes to the kitchen to get a drink of water, the camera fails to follow him past the threshold. The strange thing is that it's a standard 30" threshold, at least it appears to be. I have to wonder if the camera trolley is non standard and cannot fit through it or is that really the access to the top secret atari skunkworks division. The bathroom cam, earlier, was funny. While it was fogged up from the shower, I heard a loud sputter sound and an "Awwwww! Get out intellivision!" followed by clapping!
  7. You guys are like the friggin Atari "Bloodhound Gang"!!! Nice info you guys found and likely theories. I wonder if there's a possibility that the data is coming down from satellite? I've got to get my hands on a couple more of these puppies. The plastic is still on the name plate of the 130 etc. And the cases are KICKASS for other projects! Not to mention the built in power supply/UPS! Just need a replacement battery.
  8. Mmmmmmm wonderwoman! You could probably dress oprah up in that costume and I'd still say Mmmmmmm. LOL! You managed to get the perfect shot of her. Now... How about a nice high res. LOL!
  9. I had the same thing happen, except it was a mouse. It got in a client's server, took a good dump and a wizz only to fry the system board. Amazing how tiny a space they can crawl into. One of the slot covers was missing, I assume, from a previous upgrade to a PCI vid card from an ISA one hehehe. As nasty a repair bill it was to the customer, we had a very good laugh about it. Too bad digital cameras weren't around back in those days.
  10. When I look at the AMAZING mods to date I wonder how it's even possible to find anything else to conquer in the 8 bit arena. The next giant leap forward is going to be convergence of all these mods/features maybe in a new retrofit board to squeeze into existing cases. "Atari 8-bit on a chip!" will likely open another can of worms altogether. I think every possible and feasible function has been explored already by someone, somewhere but when we see a single chip atari, with all mods converged on the one mini board, I think retrofitting is going to be [email protected]! Some of you people blow me away with your dedication. Innovation is far from over as I see it. I'd personally love to see a single chip (+ mem, ide, os) mods board that I could slap into an 130, 600 or 1200 case!
  11. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! Just for the wico sets alone. If you sold one of those wico stick & key combo right now on ebay, you'd make your money back, most probably. Great deal, but high for a thrift. I find that the thrifts are getting more expensive. And no doubt, they are using ebay for pricing.
  12. Yup it's all about the ponies!!! :)

One of these days I'm going to rent out a Lambo just for that one off experience at least... Next vacation will revolve around just that. Miami or Vegas, not sure which hehehehe.

  13. Nope (looks at calendar) not April 1st... I hope things work out or you get out of the jam soon. I only pray you are selling to make space.
  14. You could sell carts that contain a hardware emulator on board or a "chip formula" to modify a dedicated onboard FPGA to run any given classic system and maybe even allow for the use of the native classic system's controllers. I agree with you, but it doesn't fit the current Atari biz model. I think the Wii has proven you don't have to have the last hardware to be competitive, but you need games. And what model would that be? Still wanting to be something they are'nt? Come now. Dragon Ball Z? I expect this from Sony, not Atari. It certainly didn't seem to help things much now did it? I already said that the Jag II does not have to be as powerful but it will need games. Make the adapters as I said and you already have more titles than the competition from the get go. You'll draw a huge % of classic console fans immediately and the Jaguar's current library will not suffer from frame drops. Imagine Battle/CyberMorph at a constant 60fps. Or Doom with no netwroking errors as that part of the DSP is fixed. It would also run at a constant 60 FPS. I-war, the IS series, MC3D, HoverStrike would all run at 60 FPS. Then you have a RGPU processor specifically designed to handle high level languages like C so ports are now not only possible but practical. Imagine Alien Vs Preditor at a constant 60 FPS. NOw you get us developers to continue to pump out newer titles and 3D classic updates. If you guy saw some of the ideas I have for these updates, you'd definitely appreciate them. Plus, in a week or so, you'll have Mad Bodies to play on it too! ....its close anyway...
  15. Hi all, I noticed a few others in here like myself have bought a Acer One netbook. All was fine until this past week, when I left the machine in standby mode and left it a little too long. The battery was drained to a zero state. When I plugged it in to recharge, while I surfed, the battery light started blinking about 15 minutes into my session. It wasn't charging. What?! This thing is only a few months old! I DID get it to charge, eventually. In case you have this happen and before the panic sets in, try the following: With the machine OFF and plugged in, remove the battery and turn the machine on without it. After the machine is booted up and on for a few minutes, pop in the battery. Within a couple minutes the indicator in the task bar should reflect that it is in a charging state. If not, try again a couple times. (it took two tries for me) There was other things I tried all relating to the combination of power state and battery connected or not. As well, there is a new bios out now (ver 3309). You might want to get it. It seems to correct a few little irritations.
  16. I buy used on not so new and new "filler" titles but when something massive like Fallout 3, GTA4 comes out, I try to buy the collectors editions new.
  17. Yep Stelladaptor rules! I bought a couple of em, one for internal mounting inside a 1200xl with an x86 board. (Keeps the authentic feel nicely by using the actual joystick ports on the side.) And one for using with my apple machines. It's a Stellar'dapter!
  18. Ditto! Emulation has become a huge part of my Mac experience. Thanks for this awesome emulator.
  19. I had a little problem when I moved the files around (antic zips). It screwed up the seed I had going. The reason I moved the zips is that I saw the analog discs coming down into the same folder with the same names, I panicked thinking everything would be overwritten and moved the antics. Thankfully, the analogs are coming down in similarly named folders that include the zips, not just zips. Just then I fixed it so there should be another antic seed up. As for the Analogs, I'm about 42% done downloading. When that is done I'll be seeding that out a while too. A large storm system here now with transformers sparking up the night sky so a power outage is a real possibility.
  20. Steve: I agree, you definitely need a break. Stella has become a perfect emulator under your management and it would be a crime for you to succumb to burn out. I always used it on pcs but I've enjoyed it often on my macs as of late, too. Keeping things so congruent on all ports must really be tough. Thanks for the amazing emulation! Take a night out on george street willya!!!
  21. Thump: You rule. We should probably be paying for your vacation lol!!! Thanks for what you've done. Ultra cool.
  22. One thing I love about my fellow Atariians and this forum is how insanely in love you are with the community and keeping our common first love alive. This is one effort that should go down as one of the greatest / top 5 achievements / efforts in Atari user community history. Hats off to you guys. It's not just a labor of love it's philanthropy / charity on so many levels, too. THANK YOU!!! I'm going to seed till cows are extinct if it will help. I don't know how many times I've tried to win antic / analog lots on WePay. One time I went for a lot of 75 issues & won only to find the guy was a scammer. I've been pulling my hair out wanting to read some of the old mags and it's all possible now. Again, THANK YOU!!!
  23. Noelio

    LOCK!

Yup it's a nice lot of fairly rare titles.
  24. Thanks for the replies. So many factors, diet too yep, screwing people's heads up. Add on top of that the need to keep things bottled up. Perfect storm. It's sad for sure, especially when you feel you could have done something had you knew about it. Such a waste of a life, with more energy and a brighter spark of life than many. Tragic. Keep your chins up!
