  1. I think a clock face style pic would rock, starting with the 2600 then 400 & 800 etc etc etc. You would have to have some good elevation to avoid shadows etc. That would be the ultimate wallpaper.
  2. I just had my Lie skill way up there and when she asked if I'd been there, I told her 'Yes' and she was like 'Great!!!'. The Moira character in megaton reminds me of Sarah Palin!!! Especially when she's talking potatoes! I find myself oddly attracted HAHAHAHA. And Nova.... Well I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the game is an easter egg to detail her being "part of the rent" for the night.
  3. Leave them a card and tell them you collect those "old dinosaurs"And you are looking to restore a Mr Do cab, indicating his is good for parts lol. Maybe a subliminal "put down" will give the owner food for though as times get tough! Damn! My halo fell off!
  4. Hands down, Fallout 3. I'll be stunned if this isn't the game of the year, decade and video game history so far. I don't recall any game in the past that stuck me to the seat to the point of deep vein thrombosis! LOL! I typically never liked RPGs either but this is definitely no typical RPG. No dragons, no swords and no wizards, well there are swords but they aren't a dominant thing.. A great simulation of the world post WW3. This future, 2077 and beyond, is based on the last known good civilization in the 50s. The comical part of it all is how goofy the world turned out. Cars, screens etc. some advancements were made but technology pretty much stuck to large 50's style cars (with atomic engines), huge tesla coils/transformers with a hint of "evil jetsons" and the huge national pride of the early space programs. As a seasonal prospector, I appreciated the "prospector pork n beans" found in most places and giggled like a grade 3 kid holding in a burp in a church. As a government IT guy, I appreciated the employee bulletins on some of the primitive computers (think old DEC VT 52 or old tandy all in one) terminals as well as the insane red tape / forms discussed on some. And as a radio nut/operator I really loved the inclusion of old time tube radio devices and sound. There's a heck of a lot more I like about it but it just seems that the game was tailor made for me. I've had a lot more fun than I thought I deserved and will have more over the holidays! If you have a deep phobia of nukes like I had all my life, then this game will make you chuckle in a sort of therapeutic sense . You can nuke a town and drop mini nukes from a satellite, fire mini nukes from a shoulder fired launcher and blow up cars you see around that contain highly volatile atomic engines(At least I think they are atomic since the explosion is much like the mini nuke). Some pains: There are aspects that are obvious oblivion objects but that's limited to some mushrooms, doors & rocks as far as I can tell. The giant ants are a pain in the ass when using VATS and going for the head. Be patient and you will select the head eventually and this might only be a problem on the consoles. You can't drive a motorcycle or a car even though there are plenty around.(as far as I know) I'm playing it on PS3 but I'm not sure I could fully enjoy it at a pc. You want to get VERY cozy for this one. Oblivion really took me in, too, but not 10% as much as fallout 3 has. I'm over 100 hours in and I'm speeding through it by way of force as an extremely evil character. The open world sandbox is stunning and as detailed / complex as you want it to be. Sticking to the main story line, this game can be finished in a day or two. But the beauty of it is that there are gazillions of things to do outside the main plot. I'd have to estimate that this is a 250 hour game at least-if you delay the main storyline till you complete other quests and explore the HUGE world. Get it and be entertained to death! Take frequent breaks, too! Out of 10, I give this a 20!
  5. I was looking for nice wallpaper to replace the stock SUN wallpaper on my Solaris desktop, this is it!!! What a GORGEOUS machine the 1200xl is and look ma! No fingerprints or hazy plastic! Nice job on the picture!
  6. Since I went to the dark side and killed everything in sight, I'm missing a lot of dialogue and quests. Once I kill everything in the fallout world I'm going to be reborn as a good guy. Maybe New Years I will resolve to turn a new leaf and be the good guy, first, in gameland!
  7. You should try to acquire the machine from the owner!!!
  8. I've got a power bar on every outlet I use in the house. When I turn something off I generally kill the power bar too. Though if I'm using something else plugged in to that bar I unplug the unused item -if it is adapter based. When I was a kid my next door neighbor left his 2600 plugged in overnight only to find the plastic case melted down the next morning. It was only a bubble of melted plastic on the bottom but they are lucky it didn't ignite! Funny thing is that the power supply worked after that though they did replace it anyway.
  9. I have never been seen doing it, but I've played PSP atari on the bowl!
  10. There should be an option in the menu to stretch the incoming signal to full screen. Though, from my experience, a 4:3 stretched to a 10 foot 16:9 screen feels like a poorly done port to play.
  11. I should get some 2.5 foot by 6 inch by 2.5 inch slabs, slap an atari logo on it and sell them as do it yourself stick stations for $11.95. Order now and get this handy router template for only an additional $9.95! Amazing... A slab of wood. Simplicity in design! LOL! I miss those days, though, when real wood was employed vs laminated saw dust.
  12. I've had problems shipping out stuff lately. This time of year is crazy for delays. Some bidders went with fast shipping only to get standard delivery. We have a middle management strike holding things up slightly with Canada post, but taking double time really looks bad on the seller. Thankfully, the buyers looked at the post marks in my case, too.
  13. My fav is my stock 130XE for general use. Though I just ordered a 600XL with the 64 K & composite AV mod. That could become my fav. For my sunday drivers, an original 800. Still in love with the old beast. She makes a fine 8-bit stew! The 1200xl is definitely worthy of a display case, however. What a piece of design art.
  14. WHOA! That cannot be real! If it is, consider this the best compliment ever. I want one! Err I mean two!
  15. Believe it or not I got stuck on the "asteroids" mini game where you have to man the turret. Thumbsticks are awful for that. At least with my thumbs! I, too, am playing fallout 3. That is the perfect game in my opinion. It's got it all and it's anything you want it to be. If that doesn't get game of the year I will be absolutely stunned. The one thing that bothers me is that there are hundreds of vehicles around and not one available to you. That could have made travel from town to town interesting. Dead Space is interesting but it lacks the huge open world sandbox that I enjoy in Fallout. In other words the frustration with my lack of thumb control translates into a teen-like "this sucks". LOL! Over Christmas holidays I will conquer my thumb's insubordination.
  16. The #1 rule now is "Don't drink and type"!
  17. They definitely deserve a merit badge or two. Heck they could spend a night with my mom if they like. I can call her to verify if you enquire nicely.
  18. "/|\ INSIDER" Though with a nice atari gradient on INSIDER and logo from whatever company to the left? When you mouseover a 5 or 10 word mini bio pops up.
  19. It's quite a nice Wii ripoff. I was shocked at just how much of a ripoff it was. Either way... Bring on the games and allow for a proper browser already! I've got a nice wireless media center keyboard that could definitely keep me on the couch with a nice browser!
  20. R8 could be blown as a result of something else or vice versa. I think it might be a symptom not a cause. I'd consider a new power supply just to be safe.
  21. That is AWESOME!!! Just a hypothetical question... Could you expand the memory of a 600XL to 64 or 128K with this cart? What I'm thinking that would be neat is have dos running from cart with the expanded memory all in one.
  22. Now that is some very cool stuff! Hey you could scale them up and make wooden ones! I must fire up the old calcomp plotter! LOL!
  23. In the past week: 400 with full stroke keyboard and expanded memory. 600XL AV modded (Composite, not S-Vid) and memory expanded. I've been on the look out for an expanded 600 for some time. 810 Drive (the old overhead door type) 1050 Drive
  24. Woolworth's, Sears, Consumer's Distributing, Zeller's, Piper's and I believe Kmart too for 2600. Pre-XL line computers could be found at Computerland. We never had a "toy's r us" or a Walmart back in the day. The most consistent source was definitely Sears. They really came through for the 2600 up to the 800xl. Thereafter, Woolco (A woolworth company) was the source for the XE line stuff. For the ST series, a music store, "Hutton's Music" carried the systems and had good relations with Atari suppliers but mainly games were via mail order.
