  1. Stranger things have happened **cough N64 cartridges cough** **cough Virtual Boy cough** **cough no online for GameCube cough** **cough Wii not high def and no hard drive cough** yeah but no company is going to abandon millions upon millions of users in the hopes that they stick with said company to buy a new system, not for a re-design.
  2. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/wan/864007618.html same city... who else has competition this close? And if you're the person that posted this, pm me. I'd like to meet another collector in the area, maybe play some games.
  3. yep, same here. I won't even buy a PS3 because whats the point, other than blu-ray.
  4. that would be the biggest mistake that Nintendo could ever make, to force people to buy a new system to play new DS games. If that was the case they should totally re-design the system from scratch and just make it a totally new system and phase out the old DS stuff.
  5. think about it. Now you can pay again for GBA games on a DS Virtual Console.
  6. thanks. that's what happens to me. Now i gotta figure out why.
  7. Since I'm at work, I can't test this with someone else's computer. Can anybody please go to my site. www.brutallyhonestgaming.com, and are none of the pictures of the systems in the hardware and game review sections working? All of a sudden they stopped working on my computer, though the files are in tact. I didn't know if maybe it was just my computer. Thanks.
  8. i loved the combat in tales of Symphonia, which is the only Tales game I've ever played, so if it's similar, I'm sure I'll like this game as well. I'm going to look into it and probably play the demo.
  9. my fat is all i really need too. I don't play the DS that often and when I do, it's mostly GBA since my GBA is the first version. So lack of GBA is really a turn off for me as well.
  10. i have problems on every version of Pitfall I've ever played, but I have even more problems jumping over the fires and snakes.
  11. so the combat is basically a button mash fest.
  12. tv out I think is the main thing, you could use the system as console and a portable. The Nomad had TV out and controller port. But the thing was giant, hardly portable. The GP2X I believe is TV Out as well as the PSP Slim, but again, what do you expect? It will be to the point where a portable game system will cost as much as a lap top so why not just buy a lap top. Nintendo is getting eaten alive in handheld technology, the PSP and now the Ipod touch being a player. Both of which can provide better games, technologically. They need the most help in bringing something new to the handheld market in my opinion. Almost every portable available on the market is better technically than the DS with more options and more functionality.
  13. after seeing that pic, there's no way I'll get one. Are those really the analog sticks up at the top middle of the system? That's hand cramp central. or are those speakers? Also the D-pad looks like rubber??
  14. sounds like the DS is becoming more of a PSP, because the PSP is a threat now. I'll pass until I see software making the system worth owning, and I have my doubts about that.
  15. i guess that would explain it then.. Thanks. Yeah after last weeks purchases from Gamestop, I have no desire to go back there again. There's other places I can go for uses stuff where I don't have to peel 500 stickers off in order to make the game look regular, or the instructions will be included.
  16. The economic thing hasn't impacted my area either, but still, as much as I want to do it, I know it's not worth it to open up my own place, and I would rather not have a hybrid arcade, but those are the only arcades that do any good.
  17. Is the combat similar to Tales of Symphonia?
  18. i'll use that for best buy, thanks. I will never shop at Gamestop again. EDIT: Metal Slug isn't even on the web site, there's a shock.
  19. Thanks, there's a few there, especially MS7. I've never seen that at retail and I would've never known it existed had I not asked here. There's at least 3 games I would want to pick up. I want all the Castlevanias, but god, it took me months to find portrait of ruin in the wild. My biggest challenge will actually be finding the games to buy. thanks again.
  20. i don't see how. #1, there's no recession..yet. Recession is simply defined by 2 quarters of negative growth in the over all economy, last qtr the economy grew over 3% i believe. #2. Even if this was good times, the cost far exceeds the risk. Arcades are dead, the only places that survive, at least around me, are arcade + something else, like Dave & Busters, Chuck E Cheese, or even local places still have bars + arcade games or kid areas with a few games. Now more than ever people are going to save the cash because of fear. As much as I would love to open my own place and i've even got the ok from the wife, I know it would fail. I've thought about opening a place like The Exchange or Cash N Culture, selling other things and having an arcade section. But just an arcade is not going to happen.
  21. yeah some old pals from GP32x.com, I should stop over there, it's been over 3 years. Craig will probably help distribute it if he isn't already, from www.gbax.com, but I don't know. There's quite a few people with a lot of talent over there, the software will probably be amazing, and god only knows who has joined since I quit posting over there. The only thing I ever released for the home brew scene was a map pack for the Pac-man clone.
  22. Well I went looking for a cheap game to get for my 360, liking COD 2, I decided to go with COD 3. Here is my brief review so far. Call of Duty 3 is yet another WWII shooter, no surprise there. I have no clue how far I'm into the game, but it seems to be dragging on forever. From what I can tell, thank you shitty gamestop for no instructions, the main focus is on France and re-taking it from the Germans. You play through missions for different armies and as different people and I believe as you go you keep switching back and forth ultimately ending up at one focal location. Ok. Whatever, the entire concept is bland at best. I think it would've been better if every location didn't look exactly the same, which leads us to our first section. GRAPHICS: They are good I guess for the 360. I didn't think they were that much better than COD2, but there details and touches that make it better, the weapons are better, the tanks look better, the background detail, but not enough to make a significant impact. I understand the game takes place in France, but still, why do all the locations look the same or very similar? The great thing about COD II was fighting the multi front war, you had Europe, Africa, Russia. Here you have one stagnant location with boring environments. Yes it was fun at first, but after a while, I sit here wondering when will it end??? Now don't get me wrong, you will go through some factories and stuff, there is a change of scenery from time to time, but not near enough to hold your attention. And what the crap is up with the soldier garb? Why does it look like some of the soldiers are wearing plastic, the light shouldn't be glaring off the uniforms??? I don't remember any history lesson learning about the flashy plastic uniforms. SOUND: it's fine. When I game I focus mainly on the sound effects and they are good. I don't really need to go into detail here, it's basic war game sounds. GAMEPLAY: it's standard COD gameplay with a couple extras thrown in. Like how the German guard and his multiple twins every once in a while will pop up and you play like a mini game hand to hand combat thing. It doesn't happen very often, which is good, but again, it would've been nice if the troops looked different from each other. They are very similar if not the same only in different outfits. Then there's the jeep driving and tank driving. Tank driving was very fun and cool, but short, I've only had 1 mission and I think that's it. Jeep driving on the other hand was also very fun. This game desperately needed something like this thrown in otherwise this game would be too repetitive to hold anybodies attention. Other than that, it's the normal COD run and gun, duck and heal. Playing on normal, I've died a couple times. And am I the only one that thinks it's much harder to shoot germans? I swear to god I'll be shooting at one, 50 rounds later, the guy is still alive but yet my aim marker is red. It's like you have to be 20 feet or closer away to register a hit some of the times. The only gun I didn't have this problem with was the sniper rifle. OVERALL: I loved the game for maybe the first 30 minutes, then it went bland, then it was cool again driving the jeep, then it sucked, then it was fun driving the tank, then it went south again, but then it was cool driving the jeep again. Ok. The game is not what I expected especially after COD II. 3 doesn't seem like much of an upgrade or sequel at all, it seems almost like a step back, but added in driving sequences. I guess for $12 it's not that bad. But still, this isn't one of the best shooters I've played. Not terrible, but not that good either. It just all looks the same over and over again, if it wasn't for me wanting to see what happens next in the story, I probably would've stopped playing this game by now.
  23. there are 2700 released US DS games? Somehow I doubt that. edit: oh so you count region dupes and bad dumps as well? I was saying that in regards to retail releases, not rom images. Also, yes, another A5200 nintendo only bash, did I ever bash the system? Not really, at least in my opinion, I was only stating what I personally see at retail. not once mentioning that every DS game is crap. Why do I even bother, really, I guess I really just like the abuse. I guess every post where I say the DS is probably the most underated piece of hardware out there means nothing. Or how good this system could actually be if some developers would just try a little. All ignored and forgotten. I'm the evil Nintendo bashing troll. In reality, I think it's probably it's a 60/40 split. I am more than willing to give Nintendo credit when it's due and criticize them when making an arguement, doesn't everybody else on this site do the same thing? Is everybody 100% fanboy of this and that with no other objective opinions? Must be I guess. Or does it just further prove what I've always known about Nintendo fanboys.
  24. well, it looks like my old friends at gp32x.com actually did it. good job to them.
  25. Ok, there will not be a new round until the next one vs. the Colecovision crew, their current round ends on 10-08. So we'll rest up for the time being.
