  1. oh my god godslabrat: will you read, i'm not saying they don't make good games at all, i'm saying they are not available at retail. for f**ks sake man. And every game you play on the DS, does it not say "licsensed by Nintendo", they're not babysitting 3rd parties, they are getting paid by 3rd parties to make their games for their systems.
  2. no, read. My problem is I can't find the games in retail for my tastes for Nintendo systems, but they're readily available for every other system. how many times do I have to post this? Why do my posts get taken out of context, I've said this so many times, the issue is what retail stores sale for the Nintendo systems than for the other systems. Maybe if i didn't own a PSP or 360, it would be different, that's what I'm getting at. Why can I go to retail find 18 Imagine Games, 2 Hanna Montana, every disney movie and cartoon show game, but you can't find Portrait of Ruin, or you can't find Resident Evil, Dimentia the Ward or whatever it is, I never saw in any store, not even Best Buy. Maybe if the DS had more software in the genres I prefer I would prefer my DS a little more, and I know, I KNOW , i'm not the only one, I can't be, I fail to believe that every other DS owner on Atari Age is the Imagine Crowd. Contra IV was in stores for a while, but hell you can't easily find that anymore. That's my problem, in which I've said many times before and I'll probably have to explain it again. Instead of spending money to rehash the same hardware, why not spend some money on expanding some licenses, that's all I'm saying. It seems like any game not a party game, movie license, Imagine or Petz game either has a very limited shelf life or none at all, or is it just the fact that the games are not being made?
  3. I myself am not a homebrewer, I chose a homebrew game for this months 7800 HSC and was going to do the same with the 5200 with Koffi, until I was asked about a dueling HSC. My choice of words was not good in the post, sorry for misleading post.
  4. As a spin off of a post on my last thread, I don't know what's really out there for the DS other than posts I read here and ads I see on Gamefaqs. Retail has totally blown it for DS software. Here's what I like and have for the PSP, can you recommend any similar style games on the DS God of War Socom NFS Carbon Untold Legends Outrun 2006 Sega Genesis collection GTA Liberty City Stories Madden 07 Star Wars Battlefront II Medal of Honor I am aware of Contra IV and Dimentium the Ward: I have for the DS Castlevania Portiat of Ruin Mario 64 Mario Kart Ridge Racers DS Nanostray Mario and Luigi Partners in Time (absolutely terrible game) Imagine Horsez j/k
  5. I'd like to find a store that carried a good line up of games. My problem is I have too many systems. I prefer the PSP over the DS because of my taste in games, I prefer my 360 over my Wii because of my taste in games. It's much easier for me to go into any given store in my area and find a game that I will enjoy for the PSP, but to find a good game for the DS is near impossible, and I am not going to buy the games I want online for a newer system, I don't know why, I'm just not going to do it, I like to go to the stores. I've yet to find a store that sells any Castlevania game. I got lucky and found one at a place that happens to sell used games, and not Gamestop. I refuse to shop at Gamestop. I don't think it's hard to justify my point when I can go to any given store and take pictures of the games. You'll have Conta IV, then 8 Imagine games, Metroid, then 5 pokemon games, hell you can't even get Resident Evil in stores anymore, Dementium the Ward...fuck if it wasn't for me knowing what games are available I wouldn't have known this game even exhisted, it's not for sale..it's crazy, Pittsburgh North must be one totally F'ed up game market.
  6. you must have been reading my mind, Koffi was going to be the next game, since I'm doing a homebrew for the 7800, but I was pm'd about a possible competition between 5200 and Colecovision, so I am going to wait a little bit to see what happens with that, but either way, the next 5200 specific game will be Koffi.
  7. the fact it's just a forum isn't helping anything. Take myself for example. Let me say one thing negative about the Wii, and I'll take shit from every corner of the forum, and everything positive I've ever said gets thrown out the window. #1. It's just a forum and mostly everything posted is opinion in threads discussing quality of games. Even the worst of games will have a fan somewhere. Then you have the fact that again this is a forum, so you can't hear the tone of the voice. The reader reads the post in whatever manner they have with not knowing how the post would actually be said. This is where people get wwwwaaaayyyy to bent out of shape on Atari Age.
  8. I'm with you 100% and I've seen it first hand, my little bro back in the day had 4 different gamebosy, same style, different colors, and I've known people with all 3 GBA variations, not the micro, and now people with 2 different DS styles soon to be a 3rd. Nintendo is not stupid, they know the same people will buy the same product over and over again. Let's not work on getting better software out, lets rehash our hardware. BTW speaking of DS software and off topic, how many F*cking Imagine games are out now? 20? it's like 7% of the entire DS library is Imagine games. pathetic.
  9. We may be having a special round coming up, so I'm going to hold off for a little bit on starting a new 5200 HSC Round. 5200 vs Colecovision HSC's.
  10. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6198286.html Only 4 more revisions left until Nintendo retires the system.
  11. Competition over..Congrats to phuzaxeman on hopping champion.
  12. ??? Spelling errors, when not pervasive, aren't that big a deal. It's a casual medium, as long as the meaning is clear without too much work or distraction on part of the reader, no big deal.d Yeah tell that to I think, Moycon? Who got blasted by Wii-fanboys for typo'ing a name of a game wrong. It was crazy how people reacted to a simple typo.
  13. I wouldn't say $299 to $250 is considerably lower, but that's my opinion. And again, I'm not saying the system isn't next gen, just for me it doesn't feel like it. Can you remember the first time you played Super Mario World after playing the NES for so long and being like..damn. And how the SNES just kicked the living shit out of the NES, how the Dreamcast kicked the living shit out of the Saturn, how the Gamecube kicked the living shit out of the N64. The Wii doesn't feel like it's kicking the shit out of anything, it feels like the same old. But again, that's just me and I'm going to leave it at that.
  14. well there's lol and then there's LOL, and for those crazy enough...ROFL.
  15. What has been the common factor between all generations until now? Has it been power and graphics?? As far as I can recall, I'm not aware of any other generation where there wasn't an enhancement in graphical and overall technical capabilities. It might be different if there was a game for the Wii that hands down could not be done just as well on the Gamecube, and I still believe that is more the developers fault than hardware. 2600-5200-7800-Jaguar Nes-SNES-N64-Gamecube-Wii SMS-Genesis-Saturn-Dreamcast Gameboy-GBA-DS I'm not disputing it's not a "next gen" or "current gen", It just doesn't feel like it, and it doesn't feel like it because of my experiences with the 360. The Wii feels like I'm playing a PS2 or Gamecube with a fancy controller.
  16. The one I got for $10 at a flea market came with 3 books. Some crayon book where some wizard steals all the colors and you have to color them back in, Richard Scary, which my kid loves. It has little mini games in it and the last pages are for drawing and coloring, and I have some muppets game, which is like a lot of mini games, for matching shapes, counting, and stuff like that. There really is a lot to do, and it's a fantastic piece of kit. The games are like books and you can use the pen to touch things on the book or the bottom thing to touch stuff on the screen, the pages of the book should correspond with the screen. I just got off ebay the Mickey Mouse one, he loves Mickey Mouse, so I'm excited to see how he does with that. I wonder why the Pico died off, comparing it to the V-smile baby, this thing is leaps and bounds better, even for how old it is.
  17. MM1 I was never able to beat, I beat 2 and 3 but takes a while. I've never been particularly good at MM games and will probably take a pass on this game just reading all the comments about the difficulty, I don't want to fight the game to play it.
  18. yeah I've mellowed a bit too, now I'm pretty much just limited to cursing and throwing controllers. The worst thing I can remember doing is renting Earthworm Jim back in the day and hating it so much that I poured water into it and then returned it back to the video store. lol.
  19. is it next generation, no it's current generation. It's current for Nintendo standards. personally is the Wii next gen? Not in the context of this thread, not in terms of graphics, not in terms of sound, not in terms of any kind of system ingenuity. I don't care what's under the hood. From what I've seen, I don't think any game could not be done on the Gamecube in terms of technical stuff. The only thing that makes the system and games different is the Wii-mote. It's a current gen system, there's no debate, it just that it's an extremely under whelming current gen system. And still, I think the fact that I had a 360 well over a year before getting a Wii has something to do with that. When you compare 360 games to Wii games, I just sit there scratching my head as to what Nintendo was thinking..but it's working for them, so oh well.
  20. i've punched doors off of cabinets, broken multiple controllers, broken systems, used profanities not even created yet, picked up random items to throw, etc. yeah I have anger issues with gaming.
  21. Developers now a days I think have a hard time determining the line between fun and difficult. Most games now have difficulty options so I don't really think it's that bad, and for me, At least I got really good at video games over the years or the games today are much easier than those of the 16-bit era, but I had a lot of difficulty, and still do, with more of the older games than newer. The thing I don't really get, and this comes down to the "fun and difficult" aspect, is shooters and realism. I understand a game is a game, and reality has to be skewed in order to make and complete the game. But with games like Call of Duty, you can take 150 bullets in ONE mission, and still live to fight another day, most shooters I play do not have health, you just sit there and you are fine after a few seconds. The games are fun....but there's really no challenge and I can breeze through most of these on standard difficulty pretty easily. So far, I think this generation is doing a pretty good job for the most part when it comes to games and impossible difficulties, I don't think I've ran into a game that I quit because it was impossible to proceed due to difficulty, even GTA IV, I will die numerous times on a certain mission, but I will eventually get through, or I just skip it altogether, if I can, but it does get frustrating taking 15 times to figure out a stupid mission.
  22. It's useful if you want to give people a chuckle. Ehh, I think it's bad karma, and not all high on the funny-o-meter, because it's just histrionics. Unless it was meant tongue in cheek, but I didn't get that feeling... How would that not be funny unless you actually do that or know people that do that and found it offensive??? I don't know, I thought that line was funny.
  23. I had got a Sega Pico from a yard sale and I had debated here on the forum if it would be considered an actual collectible system, and could I count it as part of my collection. Well regardless if you think it is a collector system or not, being that it was Sega, was why I thought it would be, this system is great for kids. My son is 30 months old and he loves it. He plays the Richard Scary game most, but it really is a fantastic system for small kids, I think it's better than his V-smile baby. I would recommend the Pico to anybody with small kids.
