  1. So cool, and one of the last things on my must have list. Just waiting for that day like you had to find one in the wild, so much cooler that way.
  2. How do I get a casing? I want something about the size of a Wico, with a Suzo joystick, 2 buttons, all microswitched. Is there any casing that is handheld size? Some have had good luck with the larger project boxes like they sell at Radioshack. They are plastic, but easy to work with. I'm sorry, but what the hell is your avatar supposed to be? It's cool for some weird reason/ It's something that any child of the 70's should recognize. It's "Mr. S" from the Letter People, they were charachters used in kindergarden classrooms to teach kids the alphabet. Mostly they were just surreal. All the consonants were male, and the vowels were female, and they all had kooky traits.

  4. I'll say one thing for Basic Programming, for a R3, it's pretty hard to find! I've been collecting 2600 games for over 4 years pretty steady (up to over 300 titles this month) and I JUST found my first copy last week. I've even got three sets of keyboard controllers but this is my first copy of BP!
  5. Except he already said that he doesn't want a VCR or another TV. Are you sure what you found weren't the standard old RF modulators that let you hook up an AV source (like a DVD player) to an older TV? Those are cheap and everywhere. What he wants is totally different. Missed that he said he didn't want a tv / vcr. Mine is almost exactly like this one, maybe a little larger and has internal power supply. Note that it only has one audio out jack, maybe the stereo can't be split back out of the composite signal? No biggie. That was a sweet Goodwill find then, I imagine most folks would have no idea what that was ever for. I wonder why MCM stopped selling those?
  6. I can't see how. The modulator is like a little TV station for lack of a better description that "broadcasts" the input on the selected channel (3 or 4 usually) so the TV's tuner can receive it.

  8. If you are just using it to test systems, just pick up a little TV at Goodwill. I've got a couple of really small 9" Sony Trinitrons that have RF and av inputs that I use for bench testing systems and they work great. I've even tossed them in my car to demo systems that I sell on Craigslist with a little power inverter.
  9. Hmmm...I wonder if there would be an issue with my Battlestation II controller since it works as a 6 button controller on the Genesis?
  10. I'm not offended, but I do think that is a moronic comment on an Atari message board.
  11. Thanks, but I'm not sure you understand.... I paid $70 for the LOT of over 90 games (that also included some great sealed games and Supercharger games) , so really I only paid like $.75 for Rescue Terra!
  12. Oh, as an update, I can bump that number of new games from 13 to 14! Did a closer run through them and found another. Also, if that weren't enough, I went back through my collection and was able to swap out 62 carts for the MUCH improved labels in this lot, especially the Activision and Data Age labels.
  13. I got the lot for $70! If you haven't read the post I linked to, you should, there was a TON of great stuff in there, Rescue Terra was just the best part. I haven't been at this as long as some guys (I guess about 4 years of serious scrounge collecting) but I've managed to get some good stuff just at yard sales and flea markets. I try (if I can) to stick to collecting that way vs Ebay or game stores. It makes the hunt more fun for me, and also keeps my costs down.
  14. I'm not sure how the PS1 or Wii versions do it, but the main concern I would have is the screen size and speed of the puck. To feel like real air hockey, the puck would have to move pretty fast, otherwise you just have Pong. Problem is that the screen isn't very big, so I'm not sure you could return it! I'm not sure on the Trak-ball either. Like the paddles in the real thing, I think it would work better to hold on to the stick. Cool idea though!
  15. I won't go into all the details here, you can read about the rest of my crazy-ass flea market score in the thrift finds thread here: http://www.atariage....ost__p__2390191 The highlight for my (among an amazing lot already) was this 100% complete in box copy of Rescue Terra I, my first R9 and it's in amazing shape to boot! The other astounding thing about this lot was the fact that including the Starpath games, I was able to add 13 new titles to my collection at once, and this was after hovering just under 300 titles for what seems like a year! I had set a goal that I would like to hit 300 before the end of the year without going the Ebay route or spending retrogame store prices. It was starting to look like I wasn't going to make it, but wham, out of nowhere I blow past it. This must be what crack is like......
  16. Weird, I would have guessed they came from a hotel. Cool set up and those Trinitrons are without equal.
  17. Hey don't forget the Animal Crossing series lets you collect and play NES games! Or so my wife tells me........
  18. That is a Voodoo2 3D card with what looks like 12MB of video memory. It requires a cable to connect VGA output from the video card to the back of this card. The cable for the monitor then connects to the other VGA connector on the card. The card itself is not capable of 2d graphics and requires a standard video card for that. If you had a second card with the SLI (I think that's what it was called) connector, you could join them together to split the 3D workload. It's quite nice for older games that don't support Direct3D or OpenGL. It's been a while, but I thought the Voodoo2 was an OpenGL card, that's why the Quake guys were into them?
  19. Ok, so today was the last day for flea markets in my area. We had a 30% chance of rain, and generally crappy weather all weekend. I figured if it didn't look too bad when I woke up, I'd give it a shot. Alarm goes off at 8am, I get up and start the coffee. Look out the window, and yeah, it's crappy and I'm thinking of just going back to bed, but since the coffee is already going, I say screw it and get dressed and head out after a quick breakfast. Turns out the weather wasn't as bad as it looked, and boy am I glad I didn't go back to bed today because I hit the motherload! Almost as soon as I got to the flea, I could see there were hardly any venders and not nearly as many shoppers milling around. Practically the first table I walk up to, I see just a shit ton of Atari games, pretty much the first I've seen at this flea, and not a vender I've bought from before I'm pretty sure. The first thing that caught my eye were the Starpath games, but the more I looked, the more gold I discovered. Everything was in the tub or next to it, with a sign that read "Games $1 each." First I start picking, but then I quickly go for broke and ask what they would take for the whole lot. The guy counts the games (over 90 total) and tells me to make an offer. Well, given his pricing of $1 each, I figure I can get them down a bit, so I start with $60 for the lot. He was thinking $80, but we split at $70 for the lot. Thank GOD I stopped at the bank before we got there. The pics tell the story, but here are the highlights: Starpath games all 100% Complete in box: Dragonstomper (SEALED) Suicide Mission Fireball Escape from the Mindmaster Sega 2600 games - all SEALED as noted: Sub Scan (shrikwrapped) Tac-Scan (shrikwrapped) Star Trek SOS (Glued Shut) Thunderground (Glued Shut) Misc Loose 2600 games of interest: Tanks But No Tanks Cosmic Corridor Spacemaster X-7 Miner 2049er Steeple Chase Stellar Track Beaney Bopper All good right? Mere childs play compared to this: A 100% complete in box VentureVision Rescue Terra I! This is my first and only R9 and I am just thrilled! The box is a little worn, but the cart label and inserts are pristine. And of course, there were the other 75 or so games, and while most are pretty common stuff, they are nearly all in perfect condition, even most of the Activision labels are plaque free. This lot is one of my best finds ever, maybe up there with the sealed 2600 Promo set I got early this summer. This is going to sound crazy to some of you, but I'm strangely disappointed regarding the sealed games. I'm not a sealed collector, but I don't want to open them either. So that means I'll have to sell them to get open copies if I want the play them. I know, gotta complain about something right? While I'm dealing with this guy, my wife calls me and says there is a dealer with a bunch of stuff including a TG16 set. So as soon as I'm done I run over there and pick up this set for $15! TG16 Turbo Tap Turbo Stick joystick Splatterhouse (loose) At another dealer I got a loose copy of Yoshi's Cookie SNES for my wife for $3 (yawn) All in all, a pretty good day! (And a fitting end to what has been a pretty lackluster season, the previously mentioned sealed Atari not withstanding.)
  20. Why not just get an extention cable? Radiosack should have them cheap enough.
  21. The PS1 version of the Original Duke had an entire section devoted to other games. Levels that were knock offs of Tomb Raider & Residente Evil. The chapter is called "Plug & Pray." The original PC version of Duke 3D had a few references. Couple I remember: "That is one doomed space marine." "I ain't afraid of no quake!" Seems to me there might have been a stormtrooper somewhere too, a nod to Dark Forces.
  22. I'm guessing the audio must come out of that headphone looking jack.
  23. Nice to hear, although I'm kinda sad knowing you were having tough times. I think I take my own situation for granted, we are able to stay ahead only because we both work, otherwise it would be rough.
