How Do You Store Your Boxed Games?
SRGilbert replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Personally, I don't have a lot of boxed games, but they seem to fit perfectly on shelves meant for DVD's. -

CED is a video format similar to laserdisc. But CED actually uses a needle to play the disc. I wonder if you could hear just the audio if you played a CED on a regular record player. Hmmm, I have a few CEDs I bought cheap just for the cover-art. Maybe I'll try them on my record player........ Wow, I really thought I'd head of everything, and now this? I was 10 years old in 1981 when that format came out, and this is seriously the first time I'd ever heard of it. There seems to be a surprisingly wide array of titles as well. Funky! -
Bump for edit.

Thanks, after checking out my local RatShaq it seems they don't carry the connector anymore so I just ordered the one you linked to. I figure $9.99 isn't too bad. Probably would have been at least $5 in parts anyway, and now I don't have to solder!

Amen, I like the stick too, but when you can't fire a shot, it makes it kinda pointless. I know I need the new improved firebuttons, so maybe that will make a difference. Also, personally, I find almost EVERY unusual controller uncomfortable at first. Just recently, I pulled out the old NES for the first time in years. Even after 15-20 minutes for the first week or so, my hands cramped up and hurt from the old game pads. After a while, you just get used to the hand position and it now it feels fine like it did in the old days.

Dual Language (Eng/French) Colecovision?
SRGilbert replied to SRGilbert's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oh sure, our prescription drugs you can't get enough of, but when it comes to consoles, everyone's a critic. Americans. Actually, it's funny that he said. I remember years ago growing up in a US/Canadian border town (Sault Ste. Marie) that things like electronic equipment from Canada could be potentially higher quality because Canada had higher standards requirements than we had in the US. Maybe this was just more Canuck lies, but that how I remember it! -
I picked up a TI-99/4A computer in the box today at a yard sale, but I didn't realize that it didn't have the AV cable with it. Any suggestions? It looked like an old Sega Genesis Model 1 av cable would work, but all I get is sound. Is it possible to mod one to do it? Thanks.

Hey, last week I picked up a CIB Colecovision at a yardsale. I didn't notice until I got home that it's a dual languge version from Canada. Not only is the box in English and French but all the wording on the console is also! Is this at all rare/interesting? Just curious, couldn't find one on the Ebay, so I thought I'd ask.

Nintendo Censorship (the old days were not always great)
SRGilbert replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The SNES Alladin isn't even the same game as the Genesis version, which only increases the lameness factor. What's even stranger, Capcom got the bid to do the SNES version. And Virgin Games did the Genesis one (which I feel is the better of the two). The Game Boy version was also done by Virgin Games, and from what I can tell from pictures seems to be the same as the Genesis game. I'm normally a Nintendo person but I think the Megadrive version of Aladdin was the better of the two games. I agree, the SNES version is just too blah to me. To be honest, I've yet to find a game that I prefer the SNES version to the Genesis, but then I've always been a pretty big Genesis fanboy. -

Nintendo Censorship (the old days were not always great)

It seemed to me that SNES versions of games were always tamer than their Genesis counterpart. Hell, even in Alladin for the SNES, he's missing the sword that's in the Sega version. Lame -

Funniest Atari Commercial EVER!

"HEYYYY, You look like a real jerk!" Awesome, simply awesome! -
Hi there! I just picked up both a Sega Saturn and a Sega Dreamcast recently and now I need some games. A have some good ones for the Saturn but nothing for the DC. I mostly like shooters, FPS's, and driving games are ok too. No sports games please! I'm looking for CHEAP here , so case condition is not an issue, manuals are nice but not a deal breaker. As long as the disc plays, I don't care if they're a little scratched. I could also use another Saturn gun if you have one lying around, and maybe a steering wheel. Also, wouldn't mind a Dreamcast Keyboard and Mouse, or a lightgun. Let me know what you have, I might even consider trades, I have some extra misc Atari carts for all the systems around. Thanks

NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!
SRGilbert replied to Jagasian's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know some of us have been on NesDev as well as here, but I thought I'd pass this along. Bunnyboy, the creator of the Powerpak just posted this LINK -
Ooo! Ooo! Maybe Conrad Hart, agent of the Galaxia Bureau of Investigation from Flashback: The Quest for Identity. Probably the best Sega Genesis game ever made.

Any fellow Michigan folks know where the closest flea markets are to Lansing? I can't seem to find anything less than an hour away. -

Went yard sailing again this weekend and picked up a filthy Sega Dreamcast for only $5.00. It only had one game with it, Airforce Delta, that was so scratched up it looked like someone had used it for a coaster. Good news is that everything actually works! Spent about a half hour cleaning it up and now it's as good as new. Now I gotta find me some cheap DC games...... -
NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!
SRGilbert replied to Jagasian's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well, I got mine today too! Bad news is there seems to be something wrong with it. Many games don't load at all, and the ones that do are doing something REALLY weird. Any moving sprites (like Mario in SMB) are all messed up like only half is rendering properly. Regular carts still work fine. I also tried loading everything onto a different CF card with no change. I'll have to sign up at nesdev to see if anyone there has an idea as well. One thing of note, all of my NES roms are from about 10 years ago in most cases. I wonder if that could make a difference? I guess I'll have to see if I can find some more recent copies if that's the case. Any other ideas? -

You just need to replace your cart connector. It's very easy, all you need is a screwdriver. -

That is strange, I ordered within the first few minutes of it being available, and I haven't received shipping confirmation...maybe I'll check my spam folder. Same here, but I usually just dump my spam every day. I did get charged by Paypal almost immediately however.
