Sorry to be off topic as I'm sure there are threads to cover this, but I for one am tired of all the hate for E.T.! This was one of the first games I got with my Atari Christmas of '82. I was 11 years old, a huge fan of the movie, and I still like this game today! Unplayable? Hardly, but it was challanging. Was it the best game ever made? Of course not, but it was far from the worst I've ever played. I think the biggest problem was Atari's overly optimistic sales projections at a time when the industry was already heading for a slump. E.T. was a scapegoat, pure and simple.

NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!
SRGilbert replied to Jagasian's topic in Classic Console Discussion
As far as I can see, he's not using any Nintendo patented technology in this device, besides, how do you think those clone makers get away with it! -
Yes, and yes. I think these are the new Flashback2 sticks, right?

NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!

Hey, that's cool, when did you order yours? Do you know where they are shipping out of? -
will be putting up an auction with over 440 diffrent games
SRGilbert replied to revsdr's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Hmm, I am personally not too sure about that. There are a couple of things that are attractive about selling that many games at once. 1)An auction like that does not happen too often. So the person buying it would have a history making type of thing going on where the auction would be remembered for years to come. 2)The convience factor. Believe it or not there are actually some people who would like to get there collection in one swoop instead of waiting over a year to build up a collection of that magnitude. But to be honest I have to admit I am a little biased in arguing for a big auction like this. The reason being is that I have never seen an auction like this since I have been collecting. And it would be interesting just to see what would happen. It would be exciting because there is so much unknown when it comes to having an auction like this. I for one hopes he makes a killing, but as with any auction, it's sometimes the luck of the draw. Hopefully, he can get lots of attention to bring out potential bidders. I have no doubt this will go for a substantial amount, I just hope it's at least what it's worth. Even better would be getting more than he originally paid! -

Good luck man. Don't worry, games can easily be replace in the future, family can't. If you are trying to make the most money, wouldn't you be better off parting it out rather than one big auction? -

Boy am I glad I didn't hesitate on this one, it looks like they might be sold out already! Not that I'm surprised, but wow! -
NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!

So you are saying that Mike Tyson's Punch Out! won't work on the Powerpak at all? That sucks, it's probably my most played game. I mean, I have the cart, but I was hoping this would save wear and tear on the old toaster. -
FS or FT: Sega Dreamcast Package -SOLD
SRGilbert replied to RasterScan's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I don't know if this is still available, but I wanted to give Rasterscan a bump on this. I got his Sega Sarturn last week, and it arrived quickly, was packed carefully, and was in great condition. If I didn't already have 8 systems going right now, I'd consider this Dreamcast too! -
NES PowerPak: play ROMs on a real NES system!

Who knows, if this (or others like it eventually) goes big time, it could blow the homebrew market wide open! I wonder how long it will take to ship out? -

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread

Picked up CIB Colecovision today for $40 at a yard sale, not exactly a steal, but it was an impulse buy, and I've never had one before. Box is pretty rough, but it's a dual language (english/french) from Canada, so that's kinda cool I guess! Both controllers seem to work great, only a Donkey Kong with it though. EDIT: I just noticed that the writing on the console itself is also dual language! Pretty neat! Also from the same guy, a NES Mike Tyson's Punch Out, and NES Star Wars, $5 each. Again, not giving them away, but no worse than ebay. I must have went to 10-15 yard sales today, and that guy was the only one with ANYTHING game related, and I had to ask before he pulled it out. He also had a toaster model NES and a bunch of $5 games, but I'd spent enough already! Non-game related: Star Trek playing cards in collectable tin - $2 (I collect this kind of stuff, so I was pretty geeked. Star Trek: Generations movie poster in a really nice frame - $5 Some Trek comics including a 1989 first issue for $.50 each Nice JP1 programmable remote $3.00 oh, and a Pentax K1000 camera in pretty nice condition, only $15.00! -
I suppose what you are looking to build is what in the recording/live music field is called a "snake." You might look into that and see if there is anything you might be able to incorporate.
-
I don't have one, but didn't the Redemption already do exactly that? I'm not sure I understand, but redesigning the controller would be a MAJOR undertaking, and even then, you could never come up with one that would please everybody.
-
This may be obvious, but the first thing I'd suggest is to make sure you actually like playing your games on a 50" widescreen TV! That may sound odd, but none of those systems were designed to be played on a 16x9 hi-def display (I think the PS2 was the first that was.) That means that 4x3 games will have to have black bars on the sides, or stretched (uhg) to fit the screen. I went through this a few years ago when I got my 42" plasma, and eventually picked up a nice 32" tube TV to play my classic systems on. Honestly, it just looks better to me! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my plasma for watching hi-def TV and DVD movies, but I found the picture quality of games to be lacking. Something about trying to scale the low-res games to the screen just lost something. Now, if you have a PS2 or Xbox, that that would be fantastic! Just something to think about!

I like how he ends it: "No need to be shy or embarrased. We are all grown" Some more than others apparently!

Hmmm.....in chronological order... Atari 2600 (4 switch woody) Colecovision (as of today 6/9/07!) Atari 5200 (4 port with Svid mod) Nintendo NES Atari 7800 Super Nintendo Sega Genesis with the 32x Sega Saturn Nintendo 64 (as of 6/21/07) Sega Dreamcast (as of 6/17/07) Jakks Atari 2 player Paddle game Atari Flashback2 and The Omnicade (see my sig)

Anyone know if the Genesis controller works on the 7800 with both buttons supported? It can with some modifications from what I've heard, unmodified I believe it functions only as a one button stick. It seems like you might also be able to make an adapter that would do the same thing. If anyone has some step by step instruction on how to do this, that would be great!
-
Well, I know this is probably heresy, but I've been playing my 2600 for years with a standard Sega Genesis 3-button controller, my personal all time favorite controller.

Reminds me of the Simpson's Treehouse of Horror VIII that paradies The Fly. They are at Prof Frinks Yard sale: Homer: Hmm! Frink: I take it from that little impressed noise that you are interested in purchasing that matter transporter, sir. Homer: Emm… Two bucks… And… It only transports matter… Um… Well ah… I'll give you thirty five cents.

I see Tim Curry.

Space Invaders Many of the sports games Most of the paddle games are GREAT multi player fun, you can even do four players on some of them! Dark Cavern and Wizard of War maybe? I can't remember!

Sorry man, looks like they did neg you after all, that sucks. I'm in that boat right now because I bought a SNES off Ebay that was so filthy it was gross. I wrote the guy on a Tuesday, then on Friday night left him positive feedback with a note saying the shipping was fast but the item was dirty and gross. I get a message on Sat saying that he offered me a refund (never got that messege) and now he will have to think about the feedback he gives me. I paid the guy the instant the auction was over, gave him a positive and now he has to "think about it"? Total BS.....
