  1. A remake/sequel of Sensible Soccer is being done. It's currently in developement for PC, Xbox and PS2. Once it's released I'll go check it out. I sort of liked the original so I wonder what things are similar, except for the camera :).

Sensible Soccer – it's all going to kick off again in 2006 on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC.

Codemasters announces return of legendary game that delivers the fastest fix of football fun, Jon Hare onboard for collaborative game design.

Get ready to run around with your footy shirt over your head in celebration as Codemasters today announces the revival of the legendary football game Sensible Soccer for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC.

The all-new Sensible Soccer will launch Q2 2006 and come complete with lightning fast football action, mesmerising dribbling, physics-defying sliding tackles and, most famously, a huge amount of unbelievable goals, that can go curling into the top corner, thanks to the outrageous levels of after-touch.

Renowned as the greatest multiplayer kick-about ever, Sensible Soccer will return with a modern take on its trademark zoomed out camera and truly intuitive control system, which delivers total 360-degree control over your players' kicks and movement.

Visually, the game will have a distinctive new graphical style, which includes cel-shaded players with the classic enlarged heads, designed to appeal both to fans of the series and appeal to a new generation of gamers.

The top-down view allows you to see the build up play better than you can in any current football game. This gives the player a huge degree of tactical awareness and control that has never been bettered.

And it's not just Sensible Soccer's playability-oozing action that's back: Jon Hare, designer and producer of the original Sensible Soccer, has been working with Codemasters' gameplay gurus, David and Richard Darling, on a collaborative game design. Kuju Entertainment, publishers of Tower Studios' Sensible Soccer for mobile phones, is managing development.

"Following the success of Sensible Soccer's recent mobile edition and the fantastic retro Plug 'n' Play TV version of the game, it's great to bring a truly new version out for the first time in over eight years on all of the major formats." says Jon Hare, now a director of Tower Studios and games design consultant,

"We are doing everything in our power to modernise and recreate the sheer playability, fun and footballing depth of the original and remind the playing public just what they have been missing out in the current market of slow, drab sims."

Sensible Soccer will come loaded with masses of teams and players, multiplayer games for up to four players, and 50 preset competitions from all over the world.

In addition to the pre-set tournaments, Sensible Soccer will feature a DIY Competition mode, which enables you to play cups, leagues and tournaments with your own competition rules.

You'll also be able to create your own Dream Team in the game's Custom Career Mode and play them in any of the competitions. As you clock up the wins for your squad, you'll be rewarded with over 100 unlocks and upgrades, both useful and comedic, to customise your players with including Five Star Skill Bonuses for players and Dinner Jacket football kits!

With further special content that will celebrate the series' 15-year anniversary yet to be revealed, Codemasters will publish Sensible Soccer for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC in Q2 2006. Codemasters Mobile will simultaneously release a Sensible Soccer spin-off game for mobile phones.

Prepare for the return of banana kicks and more online at the game's websites www.codemasters.co.uk/sensiblesoccer and hook up with your future Sensi teammates in the forum at www.codemasters.com/forum/

  2. Back in 1997, when I first got my Jaguar, I used to play this game all day long! The controls may seem bad, but I loved to beat my times and ride the perfect laps. It took a lot of practice to become real good and I used to score great times and I always drove perfect laps. This is one of the games that takes a lot of practice to master it. I don't think it's a bad game, it's a different game in it's genre.

  3. CF is great. I love it when you complete a mission, you see the survivers grief for the dead, after that they get rewarded by going up in rank. And the green hill, full of crosses and stones. roflmao. One of my favorite Jaguar games.

  4. I never finished Rayman. I got stuck at a level where I'm being chased by some big stony guy. Atleast that's the last thing I remember :). I will play the game soon again because I started with retro reviews for a Dutch gamesite. (Well, I haven't done anything yet :))

And I totaly agree with you about the graphical look of the game. It's highly detailed and the style and animations are just great. You know, I've always liked the 2d Mario games, but this game was so more prittyer and challanging than the Mario games I played (all NES versions).

  5. Yeah I've seen this one. I already have 2 units (only one is working though) and I think this guy is too expensive.

Anyway, I honestly don't understand why the CD Addon is so darn expensive... It hasn't given me a lot of yet :(. Maybe I don't have the right games yet?

Yeah I'd really like a cd addon for mine, but I just can't see spending that much money for one. Is it really worth it? I mean for the fun to money ration I could go out and buy a ps2 for less.

Well, in my eyes it aint worth the money. You wont get one for less then $75 I think. And the games aren't that great. BIWN is cool to see because it shows what the Jaguar is capable off. Blue Lightening is funny too, but it's not that I can play it all day long. Myst, it aint my genre so that's a no go for me too. American Hero... Well, it's funny for a short while but once again not worth getting the CD Addon for.

Maybe it's because I don't have the good games (yet) but for now, I'm glad I got 2 broken units for a fair price and was able to fix one up. But the games I have aren't that great at all :(.

  7. I have 2 units as well. But that was because I could get 2 broken units very cheap from Songbird. I managed to fix one, but it still has some spin problems. The other one spins my discs just fine, but doesn't read them.

  8. Do Dell HDD's in the laptops fail a lot then? Then I should think of a backup plan soon!

Starcat, I forget to say that the HDD I recovered was due to an issue in Windows removing it's format (NTFS). The drive did not crash. What applications are you using now to recover the data? Did you try the program I metioned?

  9. I've always had problems with Seagate, but not with Maxtor. Sorry to hear this Lars, but I hope you will backup your data more often now. A data loss like this must slow the progress of your projects down a lot I think. Too bad.

I've had somewhat the same with my brother's PC. Try this website: http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm . I've used it for my brother's HDD. I got back ALL the data, except some big RAR files. I hope it will help for you!

Edit: If you can get the data back with that program you need to buy a license to do it with a few clicks, else you just need to crack it. It worked for me, like a charm!

  10. I do not like the Firefox browser, I use the normal Mozilla browser.

About the format of the image. Wouldn't a iso file be better? If i'm correct both Linux and Mac OSX can use that format.

Anyway, I'll try to download it tommorow. But I just think it's strange to download something were you are not sure of what it's all about. Some more information would be nice.

  11. I'm not saying I could do it better. People could also use a specialized program for downloading files. These often give a higher download speed and you can resume.

Still, one question isn't answered: What kind of movies are on it?

  12. Thank you. What kind of movies are on it?

The file has been split into 5MB parts to make downloads easier, and is a Nero Disc Image (.nrg). You will also need a RAR tool to recombine and extract the image

I do not agree. I don't like to download 16 seperate files :)
