  1. Um... excuse me... (ahem)... I don't want to be a bother, but could you move my vote from Ballblazer to Fractalus? That should tie it up with Centipede. And then, can you move my other vote from Aquatron to Fractalus? That should give Fractalus 6 votes vs the 5 for Centipede. Thank you for your attention.
  2. Whew! I finally beat orpheuswaking. 179,255 It was tricky, let me tell you. I could have kept going, but I got to a level that just wasn't fair.
  3. You're willing to "emu" them? That could get tricky.
  4. To quickly change the subject, does anybody have any Berzerk memories? The first time I ever saw a video game was in 1980. The local bowling alley had just replaced three pinball machines with new arcade video games. The games they got were Asteroids, Centipede and Berzerk. Never having seen a video game in my life, I was totally amazed. I loved the glowing super-crisp vector graphics of Asteroids and the trackball, laser sounds and colour changes of Centipede - but it was Berzerk that blew me away with the robotic voices. I always liked the Battlestar Galactica cylon robots (hated the show, but loved the robots and voices - are they robots? who cares. they were robots to me) and this game was like fighting them in real life. So, Asteroids started my lifelong love of glowing vector graphics, Centipede started my lifelong love of trackballs, and Berzerk started my lifelong hatred of smiley faces. (as well as getting me obsessed with 8-bit computers, game programming, mazes, and killing robots in whatever way possible)
  5. You made me shudder and cringe at the same time. Now I need some kind of brain cleanser. Please never again associate Berzerk with gay porn. (damn you - you just made me think of a high, lisping voice saying, "Sthop the intruder, you big hairy man you.")
  6. When I saw that, I said "What the f....?!" Here's a little something I like to call "riding smiley". (not faked) I don't know how I managed to avoid dying.
  7. I decided to try "non-violent Berzerk" - seeing how high I could get without shooting a single bullet. (it's like how Ghandi would play Berzerk)
  8. It seems my conclusion was inaccurate. (regardless of how hard I punched the couch) I just got 16710. I desperately wanted to beat Deteacher, but on the last screen I got killed so fast that I'm sure I got shot before the screen was drawn. See also my "hall of shame" screenshot of failed attempts. Edit: oops - I accidentally dragged a duplicate into the "hall of shame" image, so here's a replacement. You definitely don't get an extra life at 15,000. The last guy on the screen killed me, but got hit by my bullet - giving bonus points that pushed me over 15,000. I remained dead though.
  9. After much effort, swearing, and repeated punching of the couch in anger... I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible for me to get higher than my current 14,510. I've gotten between 10,000 to 14,000 around 50 times. It doesn't matter how much tea I drink (or coke I snort), quick reaction doesn't help when my frigging guy doesn't move nearly as fast as the bullets.
  10. If you like that, you're going to love this: (anybody had more than four guys in the box?)
  11. The gadget to go to parent folder takes up exactly 1 pixel. It's the entire left border of the left file list (entire right on right list). Not only does it not take up extra space, but it doesn't require accurate mouse movement - just quickly slam mouse to left (or right) and click. I missed the subtle link until you mentioned it. That's quite an impressive collection. I just wish I had that much desk space Notice that the desk is a Commodore brand desk. (sadly, Atari didn't make office furniture)
  12. Here's a quick B&W conversion to get the idea:
  13. If you're going to be taking ideas from Amiga filemanagers, you should check out ABCdir - not only the best Amiga filemanager I've ever used, but the best filemanager on any operating system I've ever used. What makes it so great is the efficient use of space and the lack of drag & drop.
  14. This is nice... but it's a "memorial" round? What - am I supposed to die at the end of it or something? Oh man, I knew I shouldn't have put Centipede in there. If that wins, I'm going to get crushed like a bug. (and that won't be a pretty sight) I really want to play Ballblazer or Fractalus. On which one should I place my futile vote?
  15. Thanks... and a Happy New Year to you! (apparently, Otto got the blonde on the right. "Got the humanoid. Got the bimbo.") That red glowing dot gives it a weird "Tron-like" look. I like it. I finally managed to get 5 lives: Didn't last too long, though. It gets too tough when you're getting shot at from all directions. I'm going to break 20K if it kills me. Very impressive. What joystick are you using? (...and are you sure that emulator is running at full speed? )
  16. Here are five games I want to play: Aquatron Ballblazer Seafox Centipede (5200 version) Rescue on Fractalus A Leaderboard golf competition might be fun. (and so would Pole Position without the damn "teams")
  17. How'd you guess? No, it's just the Christmas lights. I like the multi-coloured lighting. There's no tree, no presents and no carollers tied up in the basement, forced to sing endless Christmas songs. You know, I think therealbountybob adds these lame side games just so that he can be the winner of the one nobody wants to play.
  18. Has anybody ever gotten 5 lives in Berzerk (4 extra plus current life)? I was soooo close. I had three extra lives, 9850 points and only one robot left to kill. Bonus would have been 110 points, which, with the 50 for killing the robot would have put me over 10,000 for the bonus life. I moved over the top of the wall to kill the last guy, but stupidly went one pixel too high, allowing him to kill me. (yes, I swore very loudly when that happened) Sadly (or perhaps, thankfully) I can't see what Christmas music you're posting. I use BeOS for browsing and it doesn't do embedded flash.
  19. Sure - as long as whatever game wins is the game I want to win. Just give me time enough to hack into the AtariAge servers to modify the polls.
  20. I agree. Amiga is my next generation A8. Hopefully, Natami will be the next generation Amiga. (third generation A8)
  21. Ahhh.... now I can finally get that damn bonus point: 14510 (yes, I realise I could have gotten bonus points more easily by playing those lame Berzerk clones - but I refuse!)
  22. 13,380 I knew I only needed a couple hundred to get the bonus point, but on the next screen I died a few microseconds after the screen appeared (bad luck to start the screen surrounded by robots). The worst thing was that after I died, there were three groups of robots ready to walk into each other - but not one of them died before the game was over. Edit: those coloured dots in the screenshot are a reflection of my Christmas lights. (I like to leave Christmas lights up year round)
  23. I don't like this "theme" stuff. Can't we just compete in one game at a time? Multiple game competition is a confusing mess. I'd like to play Seafox, but the rest don't interest me at all.
