  1. If you could go back in time and change video game history, what would you change? This can be anything in any time at all. Me, I would save the platformer by making sure Jumping Flash got the popularity it deserved, and that Sonic Xtreme saw it's way to completion.
  2. That sounds a lot like something Random Terrain would say!
  3. Well personally, I thought the touch screen seemed tacked on. If both screens were touch screens, it wouldn't feel so gimmicky.
  4. Just last night I had a dream that there was a 3D Legend of Zelda game for Game Boy Color. I remember there being 2 types of graphics modes: a Voxel mode that looked just like the N64 version, and a polygon mode that looked like Bubsy 3D without the textures.
  5. So am I! Pleased to meet you! (After all, why else would I be on this fourm?)
  6. VESwiki is now UP! http://www.bingbangboom.us/productions/ves...title=Main_Page Yay! It's back! Let the good times roll again! But... where did F8 of Nations go?
  7. I seem to be having some problems ripping the movies from my Bubsy 3D disc. Everything I've tried does not seem to work. I've tried PsxMC 3.23 and STRPLAY to convert the video. Are there any converters\plugins capable of handling the Bubsy 3D videos? My goal is to rip the a version of the entire intro movie that doesn't skip like the one on currently on youtube.
  8. I'm taking my brother and parents to Funspot when I get my next paycheck. I actually live in New Hampshire.
  9. Basically, this is a spin off on the topic "PSX Was Crippled in the 2D area?". Ever noticed that there were next to no 2D games for the N64? Last time I counted, the amount was somewhere in the single digits! Looking back, it's a marvel that Yoshi's Story got as much recognition as it did. Apparently, Nintendo really meant it when they said that the N64 was going to be a console for 3D games. I challenge anyone to find more than 10 2D (2.5D allowed) games for the N64. I don't think it's possible! And, thomasholzer, I think I'm beginning to see why you think N64 is the worst console of all time: No 2D games! Am I right?
  10. How much does it cost to replace cartridge contacts? I'm assuming it's in the range of 1-300 dollars. By the way, my copy cost $19 (game plus shipping)
  11. Ok, I'm having a really big problem with this game. Whenever I try to start playing, it freezes up on me. I even have to tilt the cartridge toward the front of the N64 to get it to work at all. When I get to the title screen, everything seems a-ok. I press start, begin a new game, and all that mumbo jumbo. Now the trouble really starts coming. When I first got to the intro movie, I thought it was cute and set the tone for the game pretty well, but when I got to the part where the spaceship crashes into Flossy's now former husband-to-be, it locked up. So I reset the N64, thinking "This is probably just like my Rogue Squadren cart. That one's always randomly freezing up on me.", but no, this UNSKIPPABLE INTRO always froze in the EXACT SAME SPOT every time. So instead of enjoying myself playing as the great and mighty Evo, who has the power to posess all the animals of the land (provided that they're deceased), I'm blowing on the cartridge like a jet engine, cursing at my Nintendo 64, and feverishly entering cheat codes searching for some sort of back door into the game. Apparently, It wasn't like this when it got out of the factory. The four save spots that were there seemed to have logged some pretty good progress into this game before I deleted them. I compulsively delete save spots on cartridges, so as not to ruin the mystique. I checked the contacts, and they were a little dirty, so it might be a problem with those. Three ways I can think of to solve this problem would be to: 1. clean the cartridge (most inexpensive) 2. have the contacts replaced (probably very expensive, must wait for paycheck) 3. get a Game Shark or Action Replay to make a back door into the game (also must wait for paycheck) Please help me, I wanna posess me some animals!
  12. You need to put up bigger pictures and a video of this. I think most people would find this really cool. By the way, how do the buttons feel? Are they flimsy feeling like I would imagine wooden buttons to be, or do they feel really good to press down?
  13. I'm still searching for an Epoch Game Pocket Computer. That was the first truly programmable cartridge based handheld system.
  14. It's probably happened to most of us sometime or another (Twinsanityntranced1 and TwinsanityNT, anyone?). Any of you ever been what you would consider a "fanboy" of anything video or computer game related? I admit to being one on several occasions. (please forgive me) My first (and possibly worst) case of fanboyism was with Sonic. After I discovered him, I instantly hated Mario and found him "uncool". I sold all my Mario games, and then vigorously attacked Mario. This lasted for years until I eventually discovered Crash. Then I started liking both Mario and Sonic again. My second (arguably worse) case of fanboyism was with Nights. Me and my brother thought it was the absolute best game ever made and there could be no equal. We thought of all these twisted ways to deal with people who thought otherwise. Nowadays, I understand that there might be better games out there than that one, but I still think that Nights is the most fun game ever made. My third case of fanboyism was more like reckless evangelism than fanboyism. I thought the Nintendo Wii was the greatest thing since sliced bread and jumped around in the streets screaming the name at the top of my lungs. I even went so far as to post the message "Wii will rule all" on Youtube. Then I discovered Jumping Flash, figured it would be just as fun, and then forgot about all this Wii fanboy stuff. By the way, I've never actually played a Wii before.
  15. I have an original model Channel F with that game. I never thought much about it, but that's probably because my brother doesn't want to play it with me. I don't get to play multiplayer very often. That said, I think getting the game on cartridge so people with newer model Channel Fs could play it would be a fantastic start to spreading the word about this game. We need to get the homebrew scene on Channel F started again. I'll set to work resurrecting the VESwiki while you look for more F8 documentation. Another thing I'd like to have on the new VESwiki is documentation on the Videobrain and other F8 based devices. This would probably make the VESwiki's name have to change to the F8wiki, to reflect the broader spectrum of F8 based platforms we're covering.
  16. I certainly don't remember it with and children aged 10 to 12 doing the voiceovers!
  17. ...And another deal just slipped through my fingers. I knew I should have cashed that check yesterday.
  18. Megahertz, not Hegamertz! Sorry, that just popped into my head.
  19. That's OK, I have an iGo. I just thought the battery pack would be a nice bonus.
  20. After some scouring on eBay, I found a Lynx for $59 with 4 games: Klax, Chip's Challenge, Steel Talons, and Slime World. Linky. It also comes with a battery pack so I can play it for a very, very long time. (yay) I'm also trying to get another game for my PSP so I'll have something to play besides Lumines. My budget is $75. So what I want to know is this: Is the Lynx a good deal (although my answer will probably be a resounding YES), and what good games are available on the PSP for $10-15 (preferably $10, morbid curiosity got the cat and now I want a copy of Bubsy 3D. The cheapest copy on amazon is $4.88).
  21. Actually, the first true programmable cartridge based system was the Epoch Game Pocket Computer, released in 1984. It only came out in Japan and had just 5 games released for it. I guess everybody was too caught up in Famicom mania to pay attention to this jewel. Here's a picture.
  22. I believe you're referring to something completely different. Instead of a TV tuner, the Supervision had something called the TV Link. With the TV Link, you could play Supervision games on the TV and change the colors, like the Super Game Boy. Here's a picture of it.You know what, you're post got me to thinking about making a TV tuner for the original Game Boy. Too bad I don't know anything about electronics.
  23. Aren't you talking about torrents? The forum rules say pirating is not OK. However, I'm sure you can find some of the games you're looking for. Check out some of the arcade collections from Namco or Atari. You might find a few of the games you played from that collection.
  24. Oh, by the way, here are my specs for the Lynx VII (codenamed Stargazer) which could have been launched in 2011 or 2013.-Dual core MISC processors at 1.5 Ghz per core designed for low power consumption and maximum speed -3D OLED display with same res as the lynx VI and true multitouch capabilities -Holographic Disc drive (Because the discs don't spin, there's near zero chance of skipping. Plus, you get hundreds of GBs to work with ) -advanced graphics chip designed for real-time raytracing and raster-based photon mapping -sucky battery life (4-6 hours like the first lynx) Personally, I think this is a well rounded system. It provides the most photorealistic graphics possible while still providing lots of innovative possibilities for gaming. It's like the PSP and DS rolled into one unit. The only problem is the horrible battery life. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if a system like this could meet the expected release date of 2011 or 2013. Maybe it's just too advanced. Believe me, I've had some very crazy and outlandish ideas like this before, such as a Wii-like console with a controller made out of nanobots that could sense movement and light and transform into many different controllers. What was I ever thinking with that one?
