  1. For info about this, go to my other topic. It seems Nintendo has heard about my ideas and is trying to make game systems based on my first and third concepts. The systems, called the Nintendo OMG(pronounced awmg) and the Nintendo BS will be making their way to store shelves on march 12, 1895. Nintendo is currently trying to create and perfect a method of time travel in order to meet this release date. The games will come on cartridges that will come in boxes the size and shape of a pack of hanafuda cards. The OMG's launch titles will include Super Mario dimensions, Ultra Smash Bros. 66666666666667: The ultimate borenament, OMG pork, and Zelda: The return of the return of the etc. of Hyrule, while the BS' launch lineup will have Warioware: crap on a stick, Nintenergyballz, Wii megacollection part 314159.14159, and Yoshi: the day the developers ran out of ideas and put him on a black screen.

What do the masses have to say about these awesome systems?

For the OMG, Rick862879281 of Nolife online forums praises: OMG NANOBOTZ!!!!! THYS OP3NS up SO MANI NOO P0S1BILIT3S N CONS3PTS I KAN HARLY BEL3VE M1 EYEZ!!!!! THIS IZ SOO FUN 1 WANT 1T NOW!!!!!11!!!1111111!!!!!!!11

lamer3.784397945 of noobzorz.com has this to say about the BS: ZOMGZOMGZOMG U CAYN RECH INT00 TEH SCR33N N T1CH STUF!!!!! DIS IZ SOO KEWL ND S3W F0N ITZ FIKIN JENuS!!!!!!! THiS WiLL B3 T1H BAST KOMZOLE IN TEH UN1V3Rs3!!!!!

Edit: It seems that the release date has been pushed back to Never and will be available exclusively through The Mall at The End Of The Universe, which can be accessed through a conveniently placed wormhole leading to the universe of The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.

So, How did I do? Please tell me you're ROFLing right now.

  2. Err, anything w/ a screenshot? I don't have an emulator or burner.

Is your machine fast enough for Nemu64? That's one of the few Windows based emulators I could find that could run it.

Anyway, for screenshots, try these. Their not elegently small, but I was pressed for time in loading these.

  3. I'm not sure; I think I read somewhere that it was for sale.

Alternatively, you can get Blender3D for Linux PPC. It's primarily a 3D modeler/renderer, but it has features for game creation:

Graphical logic editor for defining interactive behavior without programming

Collision detection and dynamics simulation now support Bullet Physics Library. Bullet is an open source collision detection and rigid body dynamics library developed for Play Station 3

Shape types: Convex polyhedron, box, sphere, cone, cylinder, capsule, compound, and static triangle mesh with auto deactivation mode

Discrete collision detection for RigidBody simulation

Support for in-game activation of dynamic constraints

Full support for vehicle dynamics, including spring reactions, stiffness, damping, tyre friction etc

Python scripting API for sophisticated control and AI, fully defined advanced game logic

Support all OpenGLTM lighting modes, including transparencies, Animated and reflection-mapped textures

Support for multimaterials, multitexture and texture blending modes, per-pixel lighting, dynamic lighting, mapping modes, GLSL vertexPaint texture blending, toon shading, animated materials, support for Normal Maping and Parallax Mapping

Playback of games and interactive 3D content without compiling or preprocessing

    Audio, using the SDL toolkit

Multi-layering of Scenes for overlay interfaces

Thanks! Looks like I'll be dusting off my Ubuntu CD next week.

  4. errr... i see no where that this is a remake. this was even saying how the game was using masks and stuff.. and i mean there is even a new title.

and no offense.. but after Segataritensoftii's last thread about the "future of Nintendo consoles", im kinda skeptical he didnt pull this out of his ass.

have a link to support your claim?

Whoops. My bad. As for my "future of Nintendo consoles" thread, I didn't say Nintendo was going to go in that direction, it was just what I think might happen. And, you're right. Maybe I should stop being like that rumor guy on EGM and research my stuff further. Well, one thing's for sure. At least I'm just eccentric, and not a total loony like some.

  5. You know what? This has made me really want to code this emulator, if only to prove you guys wrong. I'll get right on learning R4300i assembly right away!

Sweet! Be sure to keep us posted on your progress!

Well, don't expect anything anytime soon. I'm a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to coding stuff. Heck, I don't even KNOW any programming outside of BASIC, and my skills in that language are pretty poor. Maybe I'll buy a Gameshark or Action Replay for my 64 so I can practice R4300i Assembly.

As for compatibility, don't expect this to play everything. All I want It to do is play Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and the Jumping Flash games. This emulator is not aimed at compatibility. I just want to show that it can be done.

Expect the first build in mid to late 2009. Maybe earlier if I stop procrastinating!

  6. Can we get Picard in the game with Mario and Sonic?

Heck, let's have Mothra, King Ghidora and a few transformers too.. Prowl, Ravage and Soundwave. And..and..Big Bird, and the Grafspiel, and that Toucan from the Froot Loops, and Boyles Law, and..ooh...ALL the dinosaurs.

We could see who was best out of ALL the things we like.

Not tempted with this lame Mario- Sonic sports tie in. You can tell, can't you? :)

The only mario game I'm interested in seeing Sonic guest in is Super Smash Bros.

    That'll settle it.

Shit, let's have Trevor McFur in it as well.

I wasn't too interested in this game either. It just doesn't seem like they can compete.

  7. Cool Ideas, huh? I wonder how Nintendo would react to this if they saw it.

They would probably laugh like I'm doing now. :D

Okay, so maybe I'm a little bit too far ahead of my time. :D I just thought they would be so awesome. At least the first idea, anyway. :| I thought the third idea seemed rather outlandish, myself. :ponder:

Heck, I don't even think it would ever work.

  8. Hardly anyone talks about what the next generation of game systems will be like. Here's how I see the future of Nintendo's. I suspect theat the next generation Wii will be up to speed with the technology of the generation, but will still innovate. Now for the cool part. I think the next generation Wii will be the first game console to use Nanotechnology, which will be in the form of a controller made out of nanobots. These can transform into any type of controller the developers want, and will open up incredible gaming possibilities. The future of the DS will just be a refinement of the original technology, with two touch screens and the ability to touch multiple quadrants on the screen at a time. The system after that will utilize holodeck like technology, enabling you to reach into the screen an interact with the game further.

Cool Ideas, huh? I wonder how Nintendo would react to this if they saw it.

  9. I wanna learn. I want to prove to Video that PSX emulation is possible on the little machine. I'll start with a simple pong game, then move on up to a chip-8 emulator, whth the hopes of eventually coding the proposed PS emulator.

  10. But if the games were made before ratings were even created I'm not sure if that would be included or what other loopholes are in there.

I went by what happened by a similar law that was passed in Germany for not allowing games that didn't have a rating. I remember Thomas mentioned not able to buy any 2600 games in the country he lives (aka Germany) due to 2600 not having a rating.

What!? That sucks! :x Germany knows nothing about the value of game collecting.

  11. Hmm... it seems they upped the requirements to OS X since I last saw it. On the bright side, there's a Linux version-- so you can just go download a popular distro.

The Torque Game Engine is $149 for indie devs, $749 for a commercial license.

That brings up another problem. Most commercial programs on linux are X86 only. I have PPC. Or is there source code to buy?

  12. My question is how do you get the disc image on a N64 cart in the first place.

I dunno, compression, split it into parts. Here's how I see it working: there are CD modules for the N64 called the CD64 (from UFO enterprises) and the Doctor V64(from Bung). The emulator (called PS64 or RealityStation, or whatever) could load into the N64's internal RAM (that said, an expansion pak would probably be required to fit it all in). Then, you would be asked to swap discs. Then, required data from the PS disc would be loaded into the CD64 or Doctor V64's internal memory, which would then be accessed by the N64's RAM. Then it would load up extra memory from the disc as needed into a separate cache on the CD64 or V64's internal memory, which would be transferred into the main cache to speed up loading times.

  13. I was just thinking about the N64's system specifications, and it got me to thinking, "What if there was a Playstation 1 emulator on the good ol' N64? N64 games haven't gotten any less blocky since the 2nd generation titles! I think that a PS1 emu would be a great showcase of the system's power.". Daedalus is an N64 emulator for the PSP, A system which typically runs at a little under 300 Mhz. That emulator is capable of emulating Mario 64 and a number of other games at full speed. Corn can do it in 233 Mhz, Which is less than twice as fast as the N64 itself. As for PSX emulators, Bleem can run at full speed on 133 Mhz pentium machines. Bleem also has relatively good compatibility with the majority of PSX titles. To give you a little comparison, here are the system specs of both machines:

    PSX:

    CPU: 32-bit RISC (33.9MHz)

    RAM: 2MB, 1MB Video RAM

Graphics: 3D Geometry Engine, with 2D rotation, scaling, transparency and fading and 3D texture mapping and shading

    Colors: 16.7 million

    Sprites: 4,000

    Polygons: 360,000 per second

    Resolution: 640x480

    Sound: 16-bit 24 channel PCM

    N64:

    CPU: 64-bit R4300i RISC (93.75MHz) / 64-bit data paths, registers with 5-stage pipelining

    Co-processor: 64-bit RISC (62.5MHz)

    RAM: 4MB (36Mb) upgradeable

Graphics: Pixel Drawing Processor (RDP) built into co-processor

Colors: 16.7 million (32,000 on screen)

    Polygons: 150,000 per second

    Resolution: 640x480 pixels

Sound: 16 to 24-channel 16-bit stereo (up to 100 PCM channels possible)

I think the only limitations for this emulator would be the lack of a CD-ROM drive for the 64, and a lack of flash carts for the system in general, which would make it very hard to test this on a real unit.

PS: Should this topic be in classic gaming or homebrew?

  14. There's this fangame that I want to make. It's going to be in 3D and based on the "Jumping Flash" series of games by Sony and Exact/Sugar & Rockets. I was wondering if there are any good 3D game making tools for Mac OS 9 that could help me with this. I'm going to get OS X in a few months so I can use the awesomeful Dim3, but I fear I will have lost interest in the project by then. Any OS 9 native suggestions for me to use for the time being?
