  1. In a sale flyer in 1997. At the time, I knew about Alien vs. Predator and Tempest 2000.
  2. I've asked that same question twice before. I never get any answers. I think MESS has one. I'm not sure if it runs with any games.
  3. I think many people skip the CV forum, which is a grave error! Anyway, don't know the pricing or quantity available as of yet. Also, while this is a great technical achievement from Atarimax, it's really not significantly different from his current USB cart. Granted you can now fit the entire CV library, but there aren't a large amount of prototypes/unreleased/homebrew ROMS out there. Which is no fault on classics. For instance, check the long list of unreleased (canceled) CV games, and to my knowledge, almost none have been released to rom. Which is surprising, for a system that was canceled early. Part of the reason for this, I think, is that it's just buried here in Classic Gaming General! This forum really needs to be more visible.
  4. I've officially made it my goal to pick up the 3DS no more than 2 months after launch. I'm just tired of not having a contemporary game system.
  5. Enter it into the 2010 Minigame Compo...
  6. I really hope you're not the only person with entries. Speaking of sizecoding competions, Did you ever hear about a web design competition called the 5K? It used to be a competition for creating websites that took up less than 5 kilobytes total. I'd really like to see something like that resurrected with observance of modern web standards and whatnot. That, and I just think web pages these days have lots of bloat and frivolous overuse of Javascript and HTML5 when it really doesn't need to be there and it just slows the page down. I guess I was just rambling again...
  7. Anything (barring unreliable magnetic media) that's not a download is an awesome format. CDs, however, are my favorite, if only because it's much easier and cheaper to find ones for putting homebrew on.
  8. I don't think there are any PSP emulators for it, if that's what you're wondering.
  9. It sounds very interesting. I would get it if I had an iPhone/iPod Touch, but I'm kind of against buying those kinds of devices out of principle. If there were a PC version of this game, I would be much more inclined to buy it.
  10. I think an all DD future would be OK, but only under these conditions: There must be some way for the average user to back up his or her games as many times as he or she needs A network connection should never be a requirement for any games that are not exclusively based around online multiplayer features Abandonware sites and/or services such as Good old Games should be able to redistribute a game after a set, reasonable period of time (less than ten years at the least) I know that some form of copy protection is necessary to prevent "zero day" cracking and piracy, but if there is, I think that it should expire after a set period of time.
  11. Since I don't want to be another victim of the "Sonic Cycle", I'm reserving judgement until this game is released. Sonic games have been getting better, though.
  12. Something like with a built-in level editor would be pretty cool, as would be Pitman/Catrap. And if it's not too much to ask, Some of the isometric classics like Head Over Heels and Monster Max would also be nice on the Lynx. Something like a longer, harder version of would be maniacally awesome. Another awesome one would be a Bomberman-style game that could take full advantage of Comlynx. Graphic adventures like Day of the Tentacle, the Indiana Jones series, Maniac Mansion and Zac McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders would be fun. Oh yeah, and scrolling shooters. If there's one thing the Lynx has a chronic deficiency in, it's scrolling shooters. Any good ones will do.
  13. Usually something from either Luke Vibert or a different game. I have a pretty substantial collection of both.
  14. Sorry if I'm being rude, but all of the embedded Youtube videos are really slowing down my browser. So, could everyone please just post links from now on? Also, could you please stop posting so much, 8th Lutz? I see your posts so much, and they're drowning out everyone else. Just a suggestion... Anyway, my personal favorites: NiGHTS Into Dreams - Mystic Forest (Gloom of the NHC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3vQ1hVW1Ks Jumping Flash! - World 5-1 (Slippery Ice Land): Sonic Unleashed - Cool Edge Night:
  15. Hearing the voice samples in Super Mario Advance. I'm a lot younger than most of you here...
  16. Being the first video game I ever owned and all, I used to play the crap out of Rocket Power: Gettin' Air on the GBC. Looking back at it now, I now know just how terrible it was. Still like it, though.
  17. The Incredible Machine for C64, like it was originally going to be on. A game adaption of the obscure John Korty film "Twice Upon a Time". I am hugely into that movie as of right now, and I'd be interested in seeing what a game version on the 2600 or NES would've been like if that somehow got made. Finally, Just for kicks, King's Quest VII on either the Apple IIGS or the SNES. A CD version for the IIGS would be especially awesome.
  18. 3D rage? I don't think you know what you're talking about. Now that right there is what true 3D rage looks like.
  19. Maybe somebody could port Microvision games to the Studio II? I would throw down some money for that right now! Seriously, I'd pay a pretty good price for any homebrew Studio II game. If you scroll to the bottom of this page there are 3 homebrews that you can play on an emulator: http://studio2.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ Combat, Space Invaders and Hockey. This thread actually inspired me to download their emulator out of curiosity, and I played some of the built-in games for a few minutes. Definitely as bad as people have described. Bowling was the first game I tried which was okay but it looked ugly as hell. The doodling game was pretty boring especially without any color! The racing game was weird in that when you hit the other car nothing happened, LOL. I couldn't get the sound to work but maybe that's a good thing? I believe the only homebrew that they had a ROM for on that site was Space Invaders, I think the Combat and Hockey links don't work any more but they do have screenshots. Space Invaders was definitely more fun compared to the built-in games that I played. Not sure if the homebrews were ever released on cart. Maybe someone should port Pac-Man? LOL. I played Combat on that sites WinSTEM emulator, and it looked like a fairly faithful conversion.
  20. The Game Boy Color. I may not have known much about video games back in 1998, but I knew that handheld systems could be better than that! Horribly outdated technology coupled with Nintendo's neigh unshakable dominance in handheld gaming, with a mediocre game library developed by people who clearly had no idea how to write a game for an 8 bit system. In my book, it was an even bigger fiasco than the Virtual Boy. Dubious mention goes to the RCA Studio II. So called "game" system that could barely play games and was behind the times before it was even released. To be fair, it was only the second digital cartridge based game system ever released.
  21. Maybe people would start to take these more seriously if these kinds of posts didn't read so much like advertisements? Just FYI.
  22. Could you please fix the link? It seems to have died almost as soon as you put it up.
  23. I would say that there are some things I think have gotten better nowadays, and other things that I think have gotten worse. For example, I think that electronic music today, at least the more obscure stuff anyway, has gotten better over the years. I find it to be more diverse and enjoyable, while I think personal computers have gotten a lot less interesting than they were in the 1980s, where we had all these different models using all kinds of exotic processor architectures, video modes, expansion buses, etc. Nowadays, nearly all of them are just minor variations of the same thing, which can be titanically boring. I think the reason I think of things this way is because I usually try to look at things as objectively as possible, and try very hard not to let nostalgia cloud my judgement. It seems to have worked well for me this far.
  24. Sonic Advance 2 can be summed up with just these two words: hold right. By the way, we really need to get a proper tongue-sticking-out emoticon here. The current one just doesn't work for the majority of cases.
  25. Are you tired of wimpy NES games? Had it with boring ol' Sega Genesis? Then you need the Turbolicious GrafXplosion.
