    I went into a local electronic store it see the latest HDTV's and couldn't believe that Quasar division from Panasonic is still around! My family had a Quasar VCR for over 20 years. Glad it see that brand.

      It used to be that big companies used multiple brand names to capture more of the market by making it seem like there was more competition than there really was. Today, these 'extra' brands are used to sell import stuff without tarnishing the main brand. It's sad, really. I miss the days when the brand told you something about the item's lineage.

      my first CD player was a Quasar. Really nice quality and had a wooden case.
