      Savings account.  I know plenty of folks who don't have chequing accounts.

      That's a weird hair to split.  Yes to ATMs but no to checks?  I assume there is a min withdrawal?  If so then the account likely allows check writing with the same restrictions as the atm style withdrawal.

      I have to say that the last couple of rent cheques are the first cheques I've written in several years.

      Folks in Canada just don't do cheques anymore.
