I like that it was owned by a VFW Post for a while. They probably paid like $400 bucks for it back in 46'

  8. The good old USPS got its three-cent rate hike approved, in a move aimed at stemming the $5 billion that the post office says it lost in the last fiscal year. The change—which brings the cost of a first-class stamp to 49 cents—goes into effect on Jan. 26 for no more than two years, notes the AP, and the Postal Service hopes it will allow it to recoup some $2.8 billion.

The USPS loses tons of money from internet bill pay, that's where the losses are mainly from. I don't feel bad for them, on the one hand the gov't wants us all to be as green as possible by paying bills online, but then feel bad for USPS gov't workers? Nope, no sympathy at all. They can cope along with the rest of the working class who don't get gov't bailouts

The real issue with their budget is their pension pre-funding. Losing Saturday delivery would help too--but see if the unions ever go for that!

I think this is exactly the kind of thing that Al Alcorn was talking about:

    2. Torr

      Torr

Technically he COULD be right, but not REALLY for the reasons he stated... Wasn't the NES test marketed in just a couple major cities before having a nationwide release? So yes, especially with Cable TV you could have seen ads and gone to a store that had no idea what you were asking for. And MAY have been test marketed only in certain areas because of the previous console crash.

    3. Torr

      Torr

And after re-reading the article he does specify 1985, during the test market phase, so if you lived in Oklahoma and wanted to buy an NES you would have to contact Nintendo themselves or one of the few out of state retailers who did get the test market units.

Check out the Kotaku Link and the Letter Scans. It all seems legit, and Nintendo themselves state the scarcity of it's availability, dated April 1986.

  16. The Nintendo Powerfest 94 SNES cartridge that only two exist in the world went on sell for $12,000. Four years ago, I knew the seller before he sold the cartridge. Unfortunately he wanted $40,000 at the time and I had to pass! Now I heard a Canadian gentleman purchased it!

  17. The nor'easter is in full swing. But one thing I hate the most is strong winds/wind gust. I have my car parked in a numbered private lot in my apartment complex. The car is parked next to a tree that's really big and old Everytime we have major storms like this one, I move my car out and park it onto the city streets. Why? Because I fear that it will fall onto my car and destroy it. So far, the tree never fell. But I rather not take the chance.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Smart not to take the chance.

@jd_1138. I thought about that. But It's a royal pain to file a claim and too long to collect for it when they will pay pennies on the dollar. So a few minutes of my time won't do any harm to move the car. Sorry about your wife's friend.
