I've been doing a little bit of consolidation lately and I discovered that I have a few duplicates of some Higher Rarity stuff ... most of these carts have a label flaw, though. I'll try to describe the flaw but I've also uploaded a picture of the cart so you can see for yourself. I'm mainly looking for trades - particularly 8-bit stuff (Hardware, carts, disk-based stuff, whatever) but I'd consider swapping a bunch of these carts for a 7800. I've added a few prices - if you feel that I'm way off, just drop me a PM. Prices don't include shipping. Zellers Carts Farmer Dan - price tag sized tear in the top right corner - Gone Space Adventure - price tag sized tear in the middle - Gone Earth Attack - Price tag sized tear at the bottom $15 (For the record, I'm not responsible for the tears ... that's just how they came to me.) Pitfall II - Fine- $10 H.E.R.O. - One of the screw holes has been pushed in a little $15 River Raid II - Speckling near the bottom of the cart. It looks as though it might have been opened at one time. $12 Gremlins - Rectangular hole in the middle of the cart - $20 Demon Attack - Blue Label (Imagic) A tad "Actiplaqued" (Imag-i-plaqued?) -$10 Mr. Do - Fine - $10 - Gone Double Dragon - $15 Master Builder - Fine but it's a little "pressed in" over the rectangle in the center * I honestly don't know what to ask for this one. If you're interested, throw me a reasonable offer. - Gone Cheers. E.

What do you consider "good" pricing for a store?
Evad97 replied to Waterborn's topic in New England Classic Gaming (NECG)
[As I finished writing this, I realized that it wasn't exactly relevant to the discussion but, well, I typed it so I'm going to post it.] As I see it, a vintage gaming shop needs a couple of things. It needs quick turnover of inventory - if your shop is a museum, people will stop by to look but nobody will buy anything. Pricing needs to be reasonable - you need to make a profit but not in the "I'm going to hang on to this R7 until I get all that I can for it" but rather in the "I'm going to make a reasonable profit selling this because the person I'm selling it to will appreciate the deal and ultimately come back again." The "come back again" (obviously) is key. My sense of things is that coming back does not always have to be about buying something. A vintage game shop needs new inventory constantly and the person who just got the decent deal might think about bringing you his/her (fill in the blank) collection rather than put it on these boards - provided, again, the return was reasonable. Nobody bringing a collection into a bricks and mortar shop should expect to get top dollar but - some reasonable money and (perhaps) a trade or two, might - again - keep people coming back. The third thing I think a vintage game place should do is - without being pushy - guide the customer down some other avenues. I was recently given a Genesis - I've never had any relationship to the console nor any interest in collecting for it - until now. Admittedly, it will be a half-hearted attempt to collect for it but, I have had some good advice from my local game shop and know what to look out for at garage sales. I'll probably buy a few things from my local shop but ... well, I appreciate the genuine advice, too. Ultimately, I think it's moving consoles that makes the most sense. If you sell consoles, then you will ultimately sell games. If you can get them in and flip them for a reasonable amount, people will continue to buy. As for prices, I don't really know - but we all like to feel that we've had a deal. E. -
Decided to hang on to the stuff ...

That's what I figured ... thanks for the reference, Rom. Dave.

Hi there ... I picked up a label-less T-Handle cart at a yard sale today. I'm just wanting to know if there's a difference between Ultravision's Condor Attack and K-Tel's Vulture Attack. From the screen shots, they look like the same game. I have a labelled T-handle Vulture Attack and this label-less wonder looks like it's the same game. I'm in Ontario so my suspicion is that I've got a second copy of Vulture Attack - if that's the case, I'd be open to trade offers. If not, it's a doubly nice find. Thanks in advance Dave

I also bought a few carts from DDCecil. Very happy with the transaction

Quick Bump. I added a few 2600 things that I found lying around. E.

I recently picked up a nice little 8-bit collection that had some pieces I was looking for. It also had a few interesting things that I already had. Anyway, if you are interested in any of it, send me a PM. I would prefer to trade for more 8bit stuff. Carts: K-Razy Shootout (K*Byte edition) BC's Quest For Tires (label is faded) Speedway Blast In Home Baseball (Label is in rough condition) Track and Field Q*Bert Space Invaders Caverns of Mars Donkey Kong Ms. Pac-Man (and more of the usual commons) *** I started doing a little more organizing. I believe that all the 2600 carts below have a rating of 3 or higher and they may be of interest to somebody. Anyway, I'd probably be willing to do "the dollar per rarity" thing (plus shipping) for the 2600 stuff if enough of them were going to one place. (It's not really worth the energy to send - say - a single Commando cart). Bump 'N' Jump - Black M-Networks Donkey Kong Jr. (Coleco Version) California Games Commando Solar Storm Super Baseball Dark Chambers Alpha Beam with Ernie Omega Race Stargate Name This Game Desert Falcon Mash Entombed Q*bert (red) Midnight Magic If any of this is of interest, please send me a PM. Thanks E.

I was doing a little housekeeping today and stumbled upon a couple of things from parts of my gaming collection that I've long since moved away from. They are: A boxed (Canadian Edition - French / English cover) of Smurf Paint & Play workshop for Colecovision. The box is in reasonable condition. The manual is present & there is one overlay. The Quest for the Rings (Odyssey2) - Complete, I believe - all the game pieces are there (some have yet to be separated from the plastic), Board, Keyboard Cover and, of course, the cart are present. Box is in really good shape. I can provide pictures if anybody's interested. I'm mainly interested in collecting 8-bit stuff right now and will let these things go for a reasonable offer. Dave

I suspect that this sort of thing has been commented on before but today when my 800xl hit the ready prompt, the letter "a" decided to march across the screen. I blew some compressed air into the keyboard, reseated it and did a couple of other minor trouble-shooting things. No dice. The A continued to march across the screen. So, without bothering to look for helpful advice about taking apart an 800xl, I decided to take the keyboard apart and wipe down the plastic strips etc. I wasn't prepared for all the springs that would pop out. Man, there are a lot of springs in that keyboard. Fortunately I didn't lose any of them and the keyboard is now back safely in my machine. The marching A has been vanquished (at least for the moment.) I guess my points are: Wow - there are a lot of very small springs hiding under that keyboard. Be prepared for this if you ever take the keyboard apart. E.

Thanks for the help / thoughts, everyone. The trak-ball mod sounds promising as I have a spare. I also appreciate the advice re: modifying other mice. I think I'll start nosing around to see if I can find the info that I need. If anybody has any helpful sites / links or other advice, it would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just muddle through. Thanks again. Dave

I apologize if this has been covered somewhere else but I'm not having much luck using the search function. Anyway, I recently picked up a 1040stfm - unfortunately, it doesn't have a mouse. I've been able to get by with keyboard control but I would really like to start using a mouse. I have a couple of nine-pin mice (commodore & some kind of generic) and was wondering if anybody has ever tried to modify these mice to work with the Atari. Failing that, other than buying one of those PS/2 converters, are there any other options? (Naturally, if somebody has a spare mouse that they'd like to sell for a reasonable price / pass on, please send me a PM). Thanks Dave

I believe that you can use the Vic-20 / Atari 8-bit video out / monitor cables with the TI99. The colours, if I remember correctly, might not match up but they do work. E.

We did a simple 8-bit cart swap and everything worked out really well. Great person to deal with. E.

Just a quick bump - INTV idea doesn't seem to be happening. I'm open to other offers, if people are interested. I seem to be interested in 8-bit stuff these days. E.

Game arrived really quickly ... very happy with the deal. E.

I have duplicates of some of the less common Colecovision carts. Although it's something of a shot in the dark, I'm hoping to add a few pieces to my Intellivision collection. At this stage, I'm just looking to trade. Coleco carts (all are loose) Heist Pitfall II Star Trek Montezuma's Revenge Gateway to Apshai Evolution Defender Blockade Runner Moonsweeper Frogger II War Games Sewer Sam Fortune Builder Pitstop Congo Bongo Squish 'Em Sam BurgerTime Cabbage Patch Kids in the Park (or whatever it's called) Rock 'N Rope I also have the usual assortment of super-common carts, too. Here are the INTV bits and pieces that I'm looking for: Dig Dug Fathom Tower of Doom Mountain Madness Melody Blaster Turbo Pole Position I'm also looking for an ECS computer module ... Thanks E.

Thanks for all the helpful explanations / suggestions. I really appreciate the advice and will make good use of it. E.

Thanks for the reply - I'll do a little more digging. I was hoping that there would be an easy answer . Are there any compatibility issues with Sparta Dos? (I recognize that I'm opening another thread here but, if somebody could give me a quick answer, I'd appreciate it.) Can I simply use Sparta Dos as my day-to-day dos? Thanks E.
