  1. As in if I buy paddles sold in an NTSC territory, will they work on a PAL console?
  2. Killjoy BUt thanks for showing me this PAL database. I just might have something rare after all.
  3. Last week I found a Xonox Robin Hood/Sir Lancelot at a Cash Converters for $3AU. No idea AtariAge gave it an R8
  4. PAL SMS II: AV and S-Video output, 50/60Hz switch.
  5. Have you had a look inside the machine? Prehaps a dodge solder joint is the problem. Or it's the controller.
  6. Sorry to double-post but I found the problem and fixed it: After looking around the mod I based mine on, I then looked at the mod that was based on. Looking at the resistor ladder, I see that Luma0 is attentuated most, whereas in mine and the other one, it's the least attentuated. So I heat up the soldering iron and flip the resistors. Back at the TV I am greeted with this: Behold: perfect colour ! Here's the final circuit I ended up with: Thanks for all suggestions posted.
  7. Thanks, I'll give it a go when I get a chance.
  8. I only included the S-Video-composite in the diagram to show an external adaptor: ie they aren't combined unless I plug an adaptor in.
  9. If your TV handles NTSC DVDs and such OK, it shouldn't have a problem with an Atari. However, I've heard that some LCDs can be picky when it comes to connectiong an old console to it (probably doesn't like 240/288p.) But either way PAL/NTSC capable displays are common so you shoudn't have a problem finding somewhere to hook it up.
  10. A few weeks back I added S-Video to my PAL 2600Jr. Razor sharp video, except some of the colour is a bit off. This is the circuit I ended up using: I didn't solder directly to the TIA pins (except for luma 1, which I traced to the bottom-right leg of the CD4045, so I soldered to that chip) as usually recommended, though I think the luma signal is the problem. Here's some screen captures: Pacman'a colours are pretty good. Note these captures were taken from a DVD recorder. I had to connect the Atari with an S-Video to composite adapter. Then I took the captures from the PC. The video quality from these pics is nothing compared to the TV in terms of clarity, but they show the problem. Plus an emulator capture. Berzerk (second wave, they should be orange.) Chopper Command. The helicopter is too dark. Kung Fu Master. The guys are too dark. Winter Games. The snow is heaps off. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Thanks.
