I think you're still assuming he'll ship priority - As I stated above, unless specific stated as such, 9/10 auctions that say "standard flat rate shipping" mean first class or parcel post or media mail. Look, judging by this guy's dealing with others here on the board, I would absolutely agree that he's most likely not trying to rip anyone off. However, I also don't think CPU should have jumped to conclusions and rolled his eyes at another member so quickly either. That's what prompted my reply here.

$500 ins adds $3.95 to the total. I see your point, but I hope you see mine as well. My personal opinion is $1-$2 (give or take) added to each item above actual shipping cost for handling/material cost is reasonable. Anything above that increasingly approaches excessive shipping. Again, that's my opinion, and many sellers do indeed apparently still get away with the ol' sell for a penny and add on $20 shipping scam (not saying this seller is doing that at all).

Here we go again. Priority Mail = $7.00 Insurance for $200.00 = $2.45 Delivery Confirmation = $0.65 TOTAL COST: $10.10 What a rip, right? Huh? Where did you come up with that price for priority? I don't think the package should weigh more than about 8 oz, including box and bubble wrap/peanuts. Also, his auction stated "Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service", which 9/10 times means it will *not* be shipped priority - more likely first class (some even try media mail). Even so, here is the actual price of shipping, assuming an 8 oz package... Shipped at the post office priority $4.60 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.65 = $7.70 first class $2.32 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.65 = $5.42 media mail $2.13 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.65 = $5.23 Ship via PayPal priority $4.60 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.18 = $7.23 first class $2.32 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.18 = $4.95 media mail $2.13 + Ins ($200) $2.45 + DC $0.18 = $4.76 So yes, if he in fact sends it as anything other than Priority then I'd agree that $10 is excessive. However, if he does intend to ship priority then $10 isn't too bad - but then he should also change his auction text to reflect the real shipping service ASAP.

Phantom I don't understand what your argument is here (sounds more like excuse-filled ranting), so how about answering this simple question: Did atarimania reply to the buyer within three days... Yes or No? If Yes, then the buyer was completely ignored for three days. If No, then perhaps I misunderstood the facts as I read them. It wouldn't matter even if he had worked a 72-hour shift over three days... a 30 second reassuring reply soon after an email is received is a reasonable thing to ask, don't you think? All I know is thank god I know youre ebay handle and I wish I knew some of your friends as well. You act as though 3 days is an eternity. It is clear by your ranting youve never worked a hard day in your life so how could you understand. No go catch butterflies or something, I have no intentions of you wasting anymore of my time. The buyer is a scammer and I bet if he ever returned it, the box would be missing among other shady crap. Fine' Atari 2600 E.T. cartridge - $0.01 A clue - $0.25 Proving to the Atari community what a complete and utter belligerent dolt you truly are - priceless -

Yes I for one can, read my quoted post again. Yes, I agree with you of course. I said in hindsight he was out of line, but I can't blame him for being pissed at the time over a seller who didn't even bother to send a 30 second reply to give him some reassurance that *he* wasn't the one getting scammed. I don't think I would have been so quick to give out a negative, nor send such a reply in only three days (I'm perfect, after all ), but it does appear that this guy let his emotions get the better of him. -

Bingo. And as far as I can tell Atarimania still hasn't admitted to being ultimately responsible for this mess. In fact, I've only heard excuses and finger pointing. "I was busy..." or "I wonder if he's a scammer". Christ what bullshit. Yes, in hindsight I believe the guy went a bit too far with his responses, but considering how he was treated (i.e. completely ignored because you were "busy" - how the f**k is he supposed to know that?!?), I can't say I really blame him. Can you? 3 Days is completely ignored? What a crock. How about 3 days, especially in the summer when people are busier and he stated he worked 12 hr shifts is very reasonable. who would expect such a letter after 3 days regardless? Utter nonsense. Ive had sellers take 2 whole weeks to get back to a letter Ive sent. i may have sent another one in the meantime but 3 days is completely ignoring someone? Get real. Thats absurd. What don't you understand? He was completely ignored... for three days. Let's see, what's it take to reply to someone? 30 seconds? Even if the reply is something like "Sorry man, I'm really busy right now working my '12 hour shift' (waa waa waa), but I'll reply with more detail ASAP" is better than yes, BEING COMPLETELY IGNORED. -

Crazy Climber I'm going to go out on a limb and make a bold prediction - you'll change your stance concerning providing feedback as a seller the very first time you get a negative rating from an ungrateful nutcase. I see you have a perfect 100% seller rating and excellent detailed FB ratings. Based on your replies here I also believe you are honest and have unquestionable integrity. You'd go out of your way to ensure customer satisfaction, even if it meant taking a loss or not receiving as much profit. Though your auctions don't explicitly state a return policy (you may want to reconsider that), I do believe you'd do what's right to make the customer happy. Now let's say you receive an email from a guy from outside the US who's interested in several titles you have for sale. Over the next couple of days you email back and forth with pricing and other info, answer all questions he has, and finally work out a "package deal" for him. You could have sold these titles for much more, but since he's buying quite a few of them, including some rare ones, you not only offer him an incredible deal on the price, but offer to ship them to him for free! Hearing the news the customer is very happy indeed and pays you right away. Once you receive payment, you eagerly give him stellar feedback for all 20 titles. You think "awesome, I've just earned myself another satisfied customer, who's sure to be happy to do so business with me again!" A couple of weeks go by, and the buyer receives the package, which you know only after reading the following feedback he sent you: ----------------------- Titles 1-18: positive feedback - "Excellent Transaction!" Titles 19, 20: NEGATIVE FEEDBACK - "IT DONT WORK! LIAR! THIEF!" ----------------------- At this point you're flabbergasted. This is the first NEGATIVE you've ever received, from the guy with whom you just arranged a killer package deal along with *free* shipping, and this is the thanks you get for your generosity??!!? Not only that, but he never once attempted to contact you before giving you the negatives, and worst of all, since you had already given him positive feedback for all 20 titles you have no recourse whatsoever! AHHHHH WTF!?!? This horror story (and others like it) is an unfortunate reality when it comes to dealing with others on eBay. You may go years with 100% feedback, and do everything within the realm of reasonable possibility to do what's right with all transactions, yet eventually you'll get some mouth-breathing dimwit who will ruin your faith on the generosity of all humans. And it generally only takes one to ruin it for all. Now with all of that being said, are you now going to continue with your blind faith in humanity, or do the prudent thing and give yourself just a little bit of protection by simply withholding feedback until the buyer indicates his satisfaction by giving you positive feedback first? Please learn from those of us who have lived through the nightmares of good transactions gone bad! -

What is your ebay ID? Here's what I left Made me leave feedback first but otherwise perfect! 5 stars all the way A+ This was a case where I even asked him to leave feedback first and he point blank refused. This was the response I got.... "I don't care about feedback" Everything else with the transaction was great though. Given the undeniable fact that eBay feedback is VOLUNTARY (you knew that, right?), why wouldn't you accept his response? Obviously you disagree with it, but he clearly stated his belief and his prerogative. You, in turn, chose to disregard it altogether and proceeded to leave the disparaging comment anyway. Do you think you have done nothing wrong here? -
Yeah, there are still people on eBay who fall for the .01 with outrageous shipping charge tactic, and plenty of dirtball sellers willing to shovel it out. Our friends at discountgames comes immediately to mind, though they aren't as bad on the shipping as others I've seen. I do think your quoted shipping rate is a bit low. Cheapest USPS rate I've found is $.80 - but that's for a 1oz. package, and loose carts in bubble envelope certainly weight more than 1 oz. And in all fairness to sellers, it's not all about the actual shipping rate, as there are certainly materials involved as well (padded envelope, box, tape, peanuts, etc.) that all add up.

"dumb"? Why, because he did the right thing by turning in the euro's to the authorities? Nope. It is because he decided having fingers, kneecaps, and a healthy family is more important than money. And how is that "dumb"? Maybe I need another dose of caffeine to stimulate my synapses because I'm just not understanding the logic here.

Seller topol777 is deliberately trying to sell a PAL Gas Hog cart as being NTSC. Even though the description states it's an NTSC cart, it is in fact PAL (will not work with US/Canadian Atari 2600 units). I know this is the case because I purchased and returned this exact cart a few weeks back - and now he's relisted it with no mentioned of it actually being PAL. Furthermore, the "NICE COSMETIC SHAPE AS SHOWN" as he described it in includes a hole in the label (somewhat hidden by the conveniently-out of focus auction image). Caveat Emptor! http://cgi.ebay.com/GAS-HOG-for-Atari-2600...1QQcmdZViewItem
