  1. Hi Spike!

:?: Which emulator do you mean, VCS32 or gp2600?

If it's the former, then I can help :)

Let's first say that "complete" is a vague status.. right now, it's "complete" in its 0.1 version :D

i guess i should have been a bit more clear, eh? :D

i just havn't seen anything from anyone with regards to the 2600 emu so i was just being a squeaky wheel! :D

    thanks for the update!!

  2. I think you'll have to wait a long time ;)

(the GP32 has dropped only one time, at the beginning in fact, and it will only drop again if it's released wordlwide at the end of the year)

200 or $150 is not much if you consider it plays games, MP3 and DivX, etc

i keep this thing with me all the time.

hell i would take it to work.....but that would be REALY distracting! :P

having a portable 2600 for under $400 is just too keen! :D

  3. i have a couple of 2600's with the Ben Heckendorn A/V mod.

generally my games look ok but i just pulled out Adventure and discovered a problem....

all of the backgrounds are black!

is there something i did wrong withthe A/V mod?

it's not easy to see the Black Castle on a black background!

kinda like playing Adventure if it was at night.

(i think i have a new game idea! ..."Night Adventure"):P

    anyways.........

i have two machines with the same mod and i have the same results.

    even tested two TV's.

(and please forgive me if this was answered elsewhere but i couldn't find it in a forum search.)

    thanks!!!!!

  4. Should this tutorial be tidied up, turned into a book and hawked to a publisher for release in hard-copy format?

i think it would be EXCELLENT.

i have been laying out the pages in Pagemaker.

    (i'm on a Mac)

    :)

i have an Atari binder i have been filling up with info from the web for quite sometime. (schematics, OpCodes, bankswitching, source code, mods, etc.)

your info is going in the front with the Stella Programmer's manual.

what would be REALLY nifty is if the book also feature Mods and hack info as well.

maybe a CD with code, tools, and other things.

a really nice compendium for the 2600 fanatic!!!

  5. * If you would be interested in participating, post a reply to this

    COUNT ME IN!!!!

    * What particular areas of progamming would you like to see covered

    starting from scratch.......

how to make any game idea a reality through the 2600.

(of course given the limitations of the 2600)

it would be nice if it started with only 2k and 4k size games.

    * what level of knowledge should be assumed

    no assumptions.:ponder:

    * any comments?

I AM REALLY HAPPY TO SEE THIS!

i have been struggling with the info on "How to Program" the 2600 that i have gathered for quite some time. i understand a lot but then it just becomes a mess after a while.

hacking games is one thing but making a game from scratch is the only TRUE personal endeavor in the Atari 2600 that i would REALLY like to pursue. :D

  6. You mean 0's and 1's, right ?  :ponder:

    heh heh!

    oh yeah....just binary.

    no replicants here....

    not yet.

What did you burn and what did you do with it ?  :)

    Wall Defender

    it's a great little game.

i think i am going to add it to my 'wanna hack' game list!

    :D

  7. This is a great idea.  I would ultimately like to create a 2600 Programming section on AA

    ..Al

    YAY!!!!!

it's always a bummer to find out a link you have been using for lot's o' 2600 info to be dead.

because of that i have printed out tons of stuff over the last couple of years for fear i couldn't find all that info again.

i found a great Atari binder to put it all in.
