PC Gaming - while REALLY COOL - has some downsides. I've been out of the loop for a while. Here's what I remember. Please correct if wrong:
(1) Never-ending upgrade cycle.
It's the same with today's consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Easier to use (if it will let you have joysticks and paddles always plugged in), easier to fix, cool new features, and no expensive modding necessary is the opposite of pointless.
Good points but you forgot the one huge downside of today's cheap ass electronics - durability. I can't imagine a 2600 clone manufactured today can last 20+ years like a real 2600. I doubt it would even last 3+ years so you would have to get it fixed or buy a new console every few years. And It's quite likely that it would be as cheaply manufactured as most NES/SNES clones i've seen. Another huge reason why i have zero interest in a new 2600 clone is compatibility. If it isn't 100% compatible with every 2600 game (quite unlikely IMO) like a modded FB 2 with cartridge port - NO THANKS!

I wouldn't mind another 2600 clone - to each his own. I just won't spend money for one as i prefer original hardware and my humble opinion is as (un)important as everyone else's.

For the average person who just wants to relive their childhood a little you have to understand that many people will stop trying to get it to work when they realise the little forks on the rf switcher have nowhere to connect on a modern tv.
Sure but wouldn't emulation be good enough for those people? It's easy enough to download and install Stella and grab a few roms from the web.
-
I would not support it. Everybody who wants to play 2600 games can pick up a real 2600 with a bunch of games for just a few bucks. So IMO another 2600 clone is absolutely pointless.

The Duck Attack! thread is here: http://www.atariage....mebrew-ntsc-pal
Man, I wanna make a Doom 2600 game...Like this one?

Is there an Evil Magician Returns game that preceded this? And please don't answer "Adventure".
Yep, here is the first EMR game: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/139348-evil-magician-returns-adventure-type-game/

There was a very interesting/unique game with a Panda (forgot the full name, it was a strange name...) but I think it's not available...
That's Panky the Panda. It's an awesome platformer and AFAIK it will be in the AA-Store eventually. You can grab the final/latest version from the programmer's site.

Someone was working on a Robot Finds Kitten port about 10 years ago. I don't remember how far he got, but if RFK is possible, Rogue (or Nethack, or Moria) should be, albeit with some extra RAM unless you're gonna have the same dungeon every time.
RFK 2600 hasn't been finished AFAIK - looks like it uses the same "technique" to display text as Dark Mage...
robotfindskitten 2600 (2003) (Jeremy Penner) (WIP).bin
And here's another neat "Rogue-like" RPG for the 2600: Radiant Force.

Would you mind if I include your collection in the PAL Rom Collection?
No, i don't mind at all. Go ahead and include those Roms in any collection you want.

-
PS: Silly question but do I just extract the zip in the previous collection to make it more up to date?
Yep, just extract the update-pack into the "Hacks and Homebrews V1.2b" folder.
-
Does it have profiles you can download? Or do you manually map each game?
You can download profiles but you'll have to search around for them, i don't know if there's a dedicated site with profiles. One example from the Steam Forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2151816

How about Rip Off...
John W. Champeau already started working on a 2600 version of Rip Off, i hope it will be finished one day...

I just played this game a bit and i think it could become a really nice platformer. The scrolling is already quite good IMO but the player should really fall slower after jumping. Looking forward to see how this one turns out.

YOU tell ME what to play!
