  3. So, I picked up a FujiNet a few months ago and finally got the time to play around with it. I didn't get very far. It just doesn't boot. Things I've tried so far: Every conceivable button combination. The serial logs when booting while connected to the latest flash utility tell me nothing. I successfully flashed it to the latest firmware with no impact on booting. I tried it with a 5v USB power supply attached even though I read it's not necessary on the 130XE's. I get the same results on two different 130XE's. I tried it on a 1200XL (with the 5v SIO fix) with the same results. I know it's probably something simple. What the heck am I doing wrong? Video attached. Pay no attention to the portly shiny-headed reflection in the monitor.? FujiNet.mp4
  4. This is what I paid for two shipped to NY. Ouch!
  5. Well, that was it. I was typing "Uflash" instead of "Uflash.xex". Who would've thought it would fire up some old version of Uflash when called without the xex extension? Definitely a learning experience. Anyway, everything detected and flashed perfectly when I used the proper version of the flasher. Many thanks to all who helped. FJC, you really are an amazing programmer. This new BIOS is a thing of beauty.
  6. Hey FJC. I was upgrading from your previous 2nd gen release not from the original 1st gen BIOS. That's why I'm so baffled. Uflash managed to flash all three roms perfectly just a couple months ago. Not sure what to do now.
  7. So I attempted flashing my Incognito's three roms with FJC's latest release but I always get an invalid file signature error when I do the bios. Also, the OS rom names are garbled in the display. I'm using the Uflash that is included with his latest December release. The other two roms flashed fine. It's just the bios that's giving me a hard time. Any ideas?
  8. My 1040STE has left & right RCA audio ports on the back so I used an RCA to 3.5mm headphone adapter/cable and ran it to some amplified computer speakers.
  9. No speakers in the NEC. It would've been nice though. Saves some desktop space.
  10. When using a Best VGA cable, I can verify the NEC LCD1970NX supports all three resolutions nicely on my 1040STE. Unfortunately, the earlier mentioned Mitsubishi E85LCD (Same panel?) only handles high resolution. The Mitsu does have a neat secondary VGA input which should work nicely with another Best cable, an Ambery box and a VGA switch for providing the low & medium resolutions. But unless I've missed something, it does not natively support all three resolutions like its NEC cousin.
  11. Well FJC, the diagnostics don't work, none of the four XL/XE slots work and when I try and flash them (latest version of Uflash) I get a garbled mess on my screen. Colleen modes work fine and I did successfully flash the latest Beta BIOS, PBI and SDX 4.47 but something wacky happened somewhere. Sorry about the glare from my shop lights in the pic...
  12. So after much playing with FJC's new Inconito BIOS/PBI releases as well as counless re-reflashing of various OS's, my Incognito is FUBAR. Time to fire up the new USB burner and flash it back to stock. Anybody have the most recent 512K (FULL) flash for it? Preferably the latest one Candle shipped? Lump

  15. I've already made a few disks with a Happy-modded 1050 and Atari8Warez's USB SIO2PC/10502PC device. From everything I've heard so far, this is still the best way of creating problem-free disks. I was just hoping to make use of the ST disk creating station for 8-bit disks as well. Thanks to all of you for the wealth of knowledge provided. Lump
  16. Hey Hias, So WriteATR will write ATR files to floppy using a 1.2MB internal floppy drive? Sweet! That's exactly what I need to do. Does the software need to be run in a pure MSDOS environment (for best hardware control) or will it work in a VM on Windows?
  17. I guess I was hoping to use the internal 1.2MB 5.25" drive in my PC for extracting 8-bit ATR image files back onto floppy for use in my 8-bit machines. Guess I'll keep using the SIO2PC... bleh. This is why I love this site. Lots of really smart people like Larry. Thanks for all the great info! Lump
  18. I'm throwing together a "Franken-PC" from older parts with an internal 1.44MB 3.5 floppy drive for archiving and/or creating floppy disks for my recently acquired 4MB 1040STE. As documented HERE. This made me think... Besides the popular 1050-2-PC process (SIO2PC interface attached to a Atari floppy drive), is there software out there similar to the ST world's FloImg that can make use of a PC with an internal 1.2MB 5.25" floppy for creating/archiving Atari 8-bit disks? Lump
  19. I definitely know I got a great deal on the hardware... Something I haven't experienced much in my 30+ years of Atari-ing. It's the MIDI software I'm wondering about. I can't find anything about it. I guess I'm hoping someone can let me know's what "Creator 2.2" is and if it's worth anything.
  20. Greeting Atari ST pros! I recently found a killer deal on Craig's list that I couldn't pass up. Vaguely advertised as a "Working Atari ST with disks" for $55. I ended up scoring a fully upgraded (4MB) Atari 1040STE, monochrome monitor, box of software disks and a MIDI sequencing software package called "Creator". As I know nothing about MIDI sequencing, I asked a co-worker friend who used to be a professional recording engineer. He said he used to have a similar Atari ST setup for his work and that they are still used in the industry today. Apparently, the real key to the machine was the feel of the timing clock. It wasn't rock solid so it felt a little more "human" than what newer more powerful systems offer today. Okay, that's cool. It looks like I just picked up somebody's professional setup for a "song". (Pun intended). As I am not a recording engineer and I don't plan on ever doing MIDI sequencing, I looked on Ebay so see if the software was still worth anything. I found absolutely nothing. So now I turn to you fine folks for advice. I have the manual, software disk and a cartridge that functions like a dongle of some sorts. Any idea if this is still worth anything? Many thanks! Lump Pic attached.
