  1. Yeah the name thing was a typo, I type too fast and hit send too quick...Another words, pillock. I kind of guessed you would know who Dave was, and you being a fellow film person, I thought you would click on that. Neh mind, glad you found some other stuff from it...Happy new year.
  2. It's a film...David Byne is the guy from Pop group The Talking Heads.. Edit:Snap!
  3. I only wish more people offered a digital paid for version, I also don't buy real versions unless I have both the funds and the want to own it as a real item, I worry what will happen if my little amount of real hardware dies, simple stuff I can fix as long as someone tells me what to remove and replace. I'm ok with the electronics replacement but not the fault finding so much. So if emulation becomes my only play source then I'm more than fine with that as Altirra is simply, the best, but what happens to those carts that I have no digital version of, sell them and then what...Hence my love of digital versions. It's not like I can just dump the carts and patch them, my coding is not up to that level and I have no clue it there are any warezy type places for 8 bit Atari stuff to get a backup to go with the real cart. So a passionate wish, if you make a cart version of a game, think about selling a digital one as well....
  4. How very dare you!! I knew what the machine could do while I was with Atari User, I may not have known just what was out of reach of the machine but I knew how many sprites, graphic modes number of colours, what the hardware could do, ie fine scroll, display lists etc etc.. You have to remember, you are normally given a target word amount, invariably stuff would get cut by the editors and the normal target of cuts were anything classed as technical, it was deemed as something the reader would not understand, so as a game reviewer you were pushed to only talk about the game in the most non-convoluted way, ie they could sometimes treat the readers as kids.. I also felt the was too much advertising politics going on, I had 2 reviews altered where I'd been harsh but fair about a feature, I noticed that if it was from a big UK dev / release house, that words would be removed or toned right down which I was pretty sure it was done to keep them onside with advertising. I could be wrong.. So nerr...
  5. Yup, I think I want a little more time before my clogs pop
  6. I'm sort of in the same mindset as Gunstar, I was chatting to a mate called Albert, he's a homeless guy who a few of us help at the local supermarket. He's a really nice bloke, but sleeping rough had made him look older than me, so we try and make sure he gets a few nights in hostels when we can. But like Gunstar, he wonders how long he wants to be around this world the way it is. He's not looking to check out, but it's all very hard for him despite what help we give him. My take is that the world is getting harder to be in, and it seems harder to keep your health going.
  7. Sorry to hear you had a code loss, starting from an earlier base must be a pain. Hope you get back to speed as soon as you want to, lift and work first.. Paul..
  8. Same Bill Williams as Alley Cat? To Answer my own question, yes, from the Giant List of Programmers.. Salmon Run (1982, 800, APX) Necromancer (1982, 800, Synapse) Alley Cat (1984, 800, Synapse) [N] Relax, w/Kelly Jones (1984, 800, Synapse) Mind Walker (1986, AMI, Commodore) Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon, w/Steve Quinn, John Cutter (1987, AMI, Cinemaware) Pioneer Plague (1988, AMI, Terrific) Knights of the Crystallion (1991, AMI, US Gold) [P] Monopoly (1991, NES, PB) Bart's Nightmare (1992, SNES, Acclaim) Sad story indeed..
  9. Seems like Death is booking on for some overtime... Is there ever any good news now..
  10. Drive safely old man, with Glenn the 5200 man just being repost as dying last month, we don't need to lose people to mobile related accidents.. And yes, I still count hands free as a hazard, ANY thing that distracts the attention is a no-no in my book. The amount of people who just walk out in to the road these days is frightening, it's almost a craze now, the verbal rows I've had with these cretins, and lets not mention the knob heads who apparently have a license but drive like an idiot.
  11. Oh damn, another one... Thanks for passing on the news Kay, he sounded so full of life when you interviewed him, but heart attacks are pretty regular come my age, you really have to keep healthy. So sorry to hear he's gone, he did wonders with the ports, him and his work will be remembered.. Paul.. PS 29th, still 2 days to go, I hope we don't see another Atarian go...
  12. @Steril707 You too.. I wish I could remember their name, I know they are on the Best website, problem is that his website is a maze of years old style html. I'll try and find it on there and pass it on. Stiffness / stickyness could be a build up of dust / dead skin etc etc. On keys that seem stiff have you pulled the key top off and given the undersides a polish?
  13. Ha ha...Gilbert definitely would have liked that, As for Archer, from the little snippets of times I had chatting with him at various shows, he always had a big grin and we had a few laughs, I got the impression he was like it all the time.
  14. And look what it did for poor old Archer...Sorry, poor taste I know. By the time it comes out I may well be next to him..
  15. Actually, I'm quite big As Bebble said, for someone to think it was using a VBXE is stunning praise for your work.. Keep at it 3G... EDIT: Just an edit to say that from looking at the footage and hearing the music, it's a very polished production all around... (Don't want TIX's head to swell too much
  16. No using foul words like 'Spectrum' or 'Dragon 32', and most certainly not, 'Amstrad'.....Vulgar words all...
  17. No need for apologies, offence was not taken. I didn't realise that English was not your main language, to be honest, most of the folk whose first language isn't English, speak it better than I can, certainly in your case.. Careful about Bebblebrox, he might try and teach you some other English words that are not good And yes, I am joking.. You carry on enjoying the forum.. Paul..
  18. Ok, I must admit I didn't think of that.... I never criticise out dev's or posters unless they are rude to me first, this rarely ever happens, 3 times in all the time I've been on here, all not my fault in the slightest, I do however like a laugh and thought / hoped I had then, TIX's artwork has always been superb, I just thought I'd have a wee joke with him. Anyway, no harm done, just wanted to assure you that it was a joke and TIX's work (as with all our people doing stuff for us) IS appreciated.. Paul..
  19. If you are referring to my post then perhaps you might consider reading ALL the post before jumping
  20. If it's an XL then best does replacement custom key domes (forget what they are called, not the cap but the bit that does the contact beneath it.) and everyone who has tried them say it makes the keyboard so much better...Some with more knowledge could enlighten you more. As for VBXE, it's a choice between that and SophiaII which I can say has a superb picture, the question that remains is are any of these actually available with all this madness happening. The Sophia has the thing that if your Antic is in a socket, then it's a 2 min install (I don't think there was any soldering, a while ago though) The toughest part is deciding where to make the hole for the Video output (either a DVI plug or HDMI adaptor)
  21. I looked at it and thought it was from a ZX81 with coloured cellophane on the screen like the early invaders... Of course, I jest, with TIX, the 3G man on this, it's gonna look sexy..
  22. Archer Mcleans Pool is my fave for reasons clear above, loved it on the Amiga, a nice 68030 board in there just to smooth it more..Spent WAY too much time on this, oddly enough I liked Dropzone but I like the Defender arcade port more..
  23. Not the rarest game around...And untested...
