I think it is funny that someone posted about their PS3 dying and the first response is someone trashing the 360, calling it names, and making sure to note their PS3 is working. It's okay! He wasn't dogging the PS3. He wanted to play it and he is sad it broke! I also didn't see anything in the OP in reference to the 360. To the OP, sorry your console broke. No matter the console it is a major disappointment when it fails. Is this the console PS3 vs. 360 flame wars I've heard about? I'm sorry if I touched a nerve. I think BOTH suck compared to my older consoles. No Sony Fanboy or Micro-softie here! My point was this generation consoles seem to overheat and die. I'm not thrilled to hear a fellow AtariAge member having his PS3 die as it doesn't bode well for me either. Again, didn't want to start a flame war. I realized it's a touchy subject and still posted my experiences anyway. Sorry. have you ever looked at the state of the thermal paste you know it dries up with in 1 year to 6 months the ps3 i got was almost comepletely dried up.. its completely worth removing the warrenty sticker to replace the thermal paste.. you know on youre IBM compatible machine you check the thermal paste when it locks up or the c-mos battery whell the ps3 has 2 cpus huge ones really big and they have HUGE heat sinks otherwise it looks like a laptop w lots of memmory sticks built in other than the thermal paste and the 2032 battery witch could short out and make it shluggish and over heat check the thermal paste.. on a OLD xbox i seen a n610c compaq type cpu used and was able to replace the heat synk sticker crap... i would have just wanted to use the white paste sony used on the ps3 I used up the last of my thermal paste on my ps3 and it hardly runs the fan I bet if youre ps3 over heats that mutch to run the fan full speed youre thermal paste is dried out.. USE PAPER towel remove all thermal paste from heat sink and cpus then use the white stuff try to get the biggest toothpaste tube type thermal paste avalible cause the more the better I ran out so now when my regular computer over heats I have to get more.. for $4.00 its better than sending it to sony and its always better to do preventive maintnence before you see a yellow death light.. I hope mine doesnt do that as it would suck no more linux.. oh I alsomost for got.. PS one day in 198? something 1985 i think I light ning storm came along and OF COURSE the atari was on my dad told me once the electric bill is on a budget $150 a month or something like that it stays the same so i could just leave the atari on all the time I forgot to unplug the disk drive the 850 interface module and the modem DAMN anyway lightning blew up the disk drive the 850 interface module and the satellite reciver the satellite splitter and the honeywell alarm panel all blew up but the good old ATARI800 said READY it took a nother 10 years for the power supply to finnaly take a crap it still works but it stinks really bad now so i just replaced the power supply but it just goes to show they dont make stuff like they used to... AT LEAST sony made it easy to get to the heat sink and didnt make it like MICROSOFT with those crappy bandaid crap heat stink stickers witch suck.. I like the huge fan they used too.. . also i remembered if you turn it on pushing both power and eject the fan runs full speed.. dont know what that is for.. probably to test the fan. anyway all good luck keeping youre stuff cool.. oh before I forget.. my n610c Compaq laptop is great EXEPT 1 the heatsynk is fan mounted UPSIDE DOWN lame 2 the harddrive is directly underneeth the ati chipset and the northgate witch DONOT HAVE HEATSINKS lame and stupid the only good thing is it actally has white heatsink paste 3 the lame thing is the thing if you put a 2.4 Ghz cpu in it forget it it will literally start a fire.. 4 i downgraded to a 1.7 Ghz cause a 2.0 is to hot.. 5 my harddrive used to show temprature in speed fan 6 speed fan could use a mod to make it change speeds by it self so you could run fan fullspeed 7 the harddrive temp seems to be stuck at 300'F wow whooly crap 8 i did get it up to 150'F once But i started to smell solder melting on the back side of the harddrive and said hmm time to let it cool down for a while.. 9 playing UT 2003 goty will only allow 1 hour of play time before getting to over 166'F . 10 at least you can just pull the harddrive out and put in freezer for 1½ hour.. 11 the only good thing about the n610c is its 1400x1050 screen its awesome i just wish i could find a nother laptop w same screen. 12 why is it that noone has a laptop w screen more than 720??? lame . 13 im now wondering if i should shut the ps3 off or is it like the laptop when not running ut2003 type games it probably wont matter 15 oh i forgot i think found a quake2 for power pc ps3 verison i think im going to try that. I did get atari2600 emulation working on ps3 and linux ubuntu 9.10 using piteteboot..

DID YOU rip it completely apart and replace the thermal paste!!!!!!!!!! there is cpu paste on both cpu's on the big black ones.. I replaced it on mine and it had to do good I cant belive someone would torch a ps3 using a hair drier that is the lamest thing i ever saw when i saw that on utube i started laughing rolling on the floor COME ON using heat to fix a heat related problem is so dumb... there also could be just a dead 2032 battery too! so try replacing heat sink thermal paste USE THE WHITE stuff and the battery and see if that helps .. it probably is just the battery but could be both I know i have two ps3's one didnt work when i got it and the other did so i stole the power supply from the one w the red screen and took the DVD/bluray drive from the red screen one and put it into the dead one and it now works but before i powered it up i replaced the thermal paste on the cpu's witch were almost completely dried up GOOD LUCK anyway.. I hope youre DVD/BLUE RAY drive is ok cause it seems that is expensive.. the good news is the one that works has 2.76 version UPDAT.PUP on it and it loads linux from pititeboot and linux works!!.. also I have tested both harddrives they both work in the 2.76 machine then other one made me update the firmware from 3.50 back to 3.50 witch i downloaded so i could see if it worked and it loaded fine then rebooted and started to work then came up w the red screen again I dont care i got one working ps3 .. so I guess both power supplies work now I wonder if the c-mos battery is dead or weather something elese was bad my freind sais he sees pop on the board.. I dont know I hope you can figure out what it is..

Whell I am afriad of using a jail break cause it might be wrong version or virus or just not the otheros.bld anyway I know you are going to say whimp but i dont want to ruin the ps3 I got it free I got two of them from relitive and one came up w red screen and is on version 3.50 witch is lame anyway and the blue ray in the other one didnt work so i stole the power supply and the working DVD blue ray player from the other one and have one new looking version 2.76 working ps3 I updated the photo thing and it worked w out having to update whole ps3 . also I GOT LINUX to load I USED PETEBOOT the otherversion he made and used linux power pc ps3 version 9.10 and it I USED THE OEM INSTALL OPTION ON LINUX that made it work with the pitete boot thing... I didn not use the graphical pitete boot I used this version http://ozlabs.org/~jk/projects/petitboot/downloads/bin-0.2/otheros-petitboot+network.bld i renamed it to otheros.bld and made a PS3/otheros dir and put it in there and burned a cdrom I didnt even close the cdrom it worked petitboot loaded and then i put the linux 9.10 ps3 boot disk in and used pitete boot to choose it after rebooting and then choose oem install (for manafactures only) who cares it loaded.. and now it works i can play 2600 emulation and play castles of camelot on facebook. I didnt get flash to work cause i dont think they have a version for ps3 power pc yet.. I was going to jailbreak the other ps3 but it still comes up w red screen ... I did replace the thermal paste before i powered either machine up. its kind of cool to use linux on a ps3 I think sony is stupid for removing linux cause you know full well its just going to make people want to hack it more now.. also i read on a google search there is some kind of v ram used for encrypting the harddrive and jailbreak already cracked it wow they could crack a government laptop drive encryption if they wanted the same way so DUMB SONY should have just changed the server where the thing logs onto and used a passsword logon instead but they are lame

use gdi for windows ? i have a older verison witch might work better also i found a zipped version i just loaded month ago witch emulates paddles as MOUSE!! .

i forgot goto 800x600 16bit color before starting and check use agp mode also get all directx SDK from microsoft to chomp video card drivers.. windows 7 is a nother milleinuim no video card open gl or directx drivers they expect on cdrom w video card manafacture. try downloading catalyst or detonator nvidia or ati drivers mabie it might work..

I know how to use an old atari cart like pacman since there is a lot in my collection i thought i could get 20 carts and sell for $1. more on ebay THAT FAILED miserably anyway with 7 extra pacman carts i decided to try burning my own hackomatic III modified atari roms onto a real atari cart. I got success I bought a homebrew copy of snoopy cause I couldnt find one and wanted to play then i used cart removed laBEL and 2764 chip copied it w old eeprom burner i got from hamvention in dayton ohio may 14-17 some weekend in may anyway copied to new chip I had erased for 30 minnutes it WORKED. then i used null modem cable and xmodem and burned my crockrocks asteroids changed rocks to look like aw and ®'s since my name is adam w anyway it worked i had my own cart .. then i modified the flashback II using the color b/w switch to switch between a10 and a10 on the built in memmory and since one disconnects and one connects I used the double pole double throw switch b/w switch I had to scrape all traces from board its like two switches in one. I discovered when i was making a space invaders test chip for arcade pcb that you need to switch up the a10 line pin to switch roms on the fly I disconvered this when i was playing regular asteroids on the FLASHback II and switched from built in memmory to actuall crockrocks cart and viola it was weird only the rocks went from clear to the aw/® ones I went hmm cool. so if you could figure out how to switch from a10 lines on a chip like mowerman's pacman 4 game menu you might beable to use a 270c10 or a 290c10 i just learned from my NAGASAKI single board pc104 computer i got for only $4.95 that a 290c10 ok ill get actuall chip number from manual lets you have 1meg on a eeprom type chip but its flash!! so you pick witch pin at witch address its not easy but you could make youre own multi cart.. ok back to making a sinlge cart you need only a regular atari cart a 8k rom and a 7404 chip w only 4 pins chop the rest off the 7404 flip over like dead bug and hook to cart you have to scrape some traCES AND rewire the cart but I was shopping at PAWN SHOP and got lucky they had all the ATARI carts in a drawer under the glass cases FULL OF ATARI carts sega carts and nes 8bit and snes carts I was like COOOL i bought A BLUE CART AND WHEN I RIPPED IT APART IT HAD A 2732 IN IT AND A 7404 ALREADY WIRED TO MY LIKING TO MAKE A HOMEBREW CART.. i BOUGHT A NEW WILLEIAM EEPROM BURNER OFF EBAY YES I SPELLED IT WRONG IT SHOULD NOT COST MORE THAN $20 i PAYED $15 3 YEARS AGO.. I have a 486 w 3 sockets to take 27c010 chips as disk on chip sockets the 4th chip is the c-mos this board looks like a arcade pcb but its a 486! only if my 5x86-p133 chip wasnt blown.. aparanetly i can format the chips like a floppy disk witch would be cool if i had the disk on chip flash type chips i could just load old dos stella.exe and some roms and gamemenu.exe witch is a front end that allows joystick loads.. otherwise using a flash drive w real atari would take some work. you might be better off using a super charger and a mp3 player . anyway good luck.

UHU glue stick i think is the brand also scotch makes a CRAFT stick too or you can goto target and get YELLOW package 3m double stick see threw scotch tape carefull not to rip label before using double sitck tape sticks to paper lables real good. the tape looks like gift wrap tape but has a yellow cardboard insert on the 3m holder to let you know its double stick I always pull more than i need then stick one end to desk then using sicsor cut thinner than normal and use small strips smaller not as WIDE AS LABEL im repairing to the label and then align then affix to cart the double stick tape works best but make shure its evenly applied to back side of label or it will look bumpy!.. here is my own label CROCKROCKS and end lable says ADAMw a paste from screen cap off stellax of my modded Asteroid©® Atari©Atari®( tm) type game..crockrocks I used HACKOMATIC II to remake graphics. i used glue stick 1st but it came off so i changed to double stick double sided scotch type tape. I think Atari 5200 ported to 400/800 or just on 5200 FROGGER has by far the best music befoe the advent of games using REAL wavs and mp3s in there games and before midi. atari had 4 channel sound and 4 traks going at same time for frogger i think it was 2 at same time and 2 game sounds at a time making total of 4 sounds simultinously meshing to gether at same time during game play not waiting for each sound to end before it could produce a nother note.. ALso pitfall II had great music on 2600 as whell as 800/400 the 400/800 music on pitfall II is better sounding and the game has a extra level if you get ballons and wait for them when you can jump higher wait for bats to change into ballons then get diamond guy and other guy on top then a new door opens harry jumps wildy non stop then goes into warp door grey door then next level starts so unless you have a UPS and a very good power connection or are using emulation and save state dont trip over atari power pack or youre going to have to start all over again ON THE 2600 it just ends game or does not goto next level but to beable to play a 2600 game that long is amazing to me in the 1st place.. I also like the music whell the sound effects in asteroids 1980 and 1981 they are slightly differnt in 1980 verision w out © wait screen 1981 verison has differnt thump thump sounds and shooting is slightly differnt they are not same animal as in game play as each other are play for 20 minnutes both versions of atari2600 asteroids and find out for youre self they are differnt sounding its so slight but you can tell the way the rocks blow up faster on the older version and the rocks are not on a pattern the same way.. ALSO I LIKE Preppie II and I on 800/400 I also like pathfinder I love to escape the maze in pathfinder if you get between two angled corners and between both corners go in oppoosite wrong directions trying to ' enter the corners graphics it WILL EVENTUELLY LET YOU INSIDE THE boarders and you can escape go UP because going down goes no where exept into empty RAM but going up will let you get power and warp back inside maze I LOVE THE LEVEL UP MUSIC IN pathfinder.. also like bounty bobs music and I love BOULDER DASH ENTRO MUSIC ITS AWESOME AND WAS WAY AH HEAD OF ITS TIME for 80's music it was awaesome.. DKONG 400/800 was better than arcade dkong w super BASS line and then dont forget super cobra as a matter of fact all atari800 games had cool music. POOYAN HAD ONE OF THE COOLEST GAME MUSIC backround music ever so addictive.. slime had good music too.. way to many to list.. the 2600 had frogger too! was not as good as 400/800 but the frogger fix worked good enough and if you pushed b difficulty you could goto threw walls!!! ..oh yes moon patrol push up left and fire on 800 and it will start push start demo mode!.. 400 too.. if you have 48k or 32k to run mon patrol.

cool I always wanted pacman and chomp chomp since i use chomp ans my alies on ebay chompaw I always liked pacman pac-n-pal it was cool better than super pacman.. I have a mini one it has galaixan pac-man lame version digdug and rallyx fast mode.. and some other game iforgot. its small and runs on aaa batteries but i chomped a power pack from a router so now it plug plays into any extention brown cord and a TV or vcr.

I wanted to make a disk only i could get into then relized no one cared but if you are interested in making a game for atari basic and dont want anyone pushing break then this autorun.sys file is for you you can always rewrite the file to youre liking I thought it would work good for a adventure type game using input from keyboard so some kid couldnt break out and cheat or chrash program as easylyi anyway it worked good then i decided to fix it once i got atari800.exe to SAVE AND WRITE FILES using the ape connector!! atarimax cable I was so happy i could write to a .atr file(s) using atari800.exe emulation I decided to shorten then password. to just s a and start button I also was dabbling in programing the start button and using the OPEN command to use disk files in Atari® basic it was fun BUt 20 30 years later i alsmost forgot every thing i learned in atari basic so my NEW YEARS RESOLOUTION IS TO relearn Atari 800 basic.. here are some more .txt files just rename them to .atr to run in atari800 emulation or on REAL atari. they are all public domain files and are ok to redristribue.. just if they have stubs leave them in please thanks. 1st file is going to be password disk the autorun.sys file loads menu.bas then i renamed menu.bas to dir.bas witch menu.bas loads if you get password right.. on this disk i shortened password from -=*+{atari symbol button inverse}+=-*/ then the start button can be pushed.. to this password simply using no caps put s a then push return then push start then dir.bas loads!.. a way around my password disks are as follows its simple just load a nother disk w menu.bas and dup dos on it. then load menu.bas run it then push 0 after you swap out disk to password disk and viola it shows menu.. 1 st disk is: rename to mrchtree.atr 2nd disk is going to be:basic1.txt rename to basic1.atr then you can run them if you leave as .txt it wont work. password should be just s a but you have to have caps off .. basic(paddle(0)).atr rename to basic(paddle(0)).txt the password is sa I just tested it. have fun whell since the link for atari800.exe does not work ill post it here you also have to rename to .exe from .txt atari800.exe rename to atari800.txt YOU have to get the roms youre self.. google search ATARIOSB.ROM and ATARIBAS.ROM on google to find the roms.. ok the atari81.txt rename to atari8000.exe. oh PS i also got A ps1 and Ricky C game for ps1 I have wanted for a long time my freind borrowed and finnaly gave my game back the ps1 I used channaku guelt to get the christmas stuff was at brothers house his wife still celebrates christmas so we have reason to eat HAM... we are reform not orthodox so its ok. **************************I almost forgot I got a unisonic pong off ebay recently it works and is cool the gun game works too.. ************************************************ I now have atari joystick plug play one play paddle plug play witch i got hooked to real atari paddles and found 2 player jumper and got it to work w 2 players even though lists one player in menus two still works w warlords and pong games and atari circus its cool.. I also have a mini pacman joystick namco and a mspacman one my broghter gave me but battery pack hole is coroded havent hooked up yet I also got the flashback II inside a old 2600 case using existing motherboard witch had two bad chips so i reused cart slot connections and b.w switch and ch3 switch for color/bw switch! got power AFTER CAPACITOR 5v regularo dioed and works great PITFALL II looks scrambled but i got two screens in and gave up otherwise the flashback project is now complete I also have 3 homebrew/homemade carts now .. one is my CROCKROCKS remake of ASTEROIDS® Atari® corp. 1981 in witch i made rocks look like ®'s and (aw)'s I reused a cart i got snoopy on and made my own lable and used a 2764 witch I erased the snoopy file and reprogrammed the HACKOMATIC III file a1.bin onto the cart 2764 it works great and always boots when flipping from built in flashback II to cart mode!! WHELL ALMOST EVERY TIME... one of my fav things to do it load flashback II up in flashback mode memmory mode then start Missile command from flashback then swap to asteroids on REAL cart mode and back to flashback mode its cool then go to missile command flashback mode then remove asteroids insert missile command and swap between them its weird nothing happens I guess the a10 lines on both cart and built in memory match line for line in code so 2600 sees no difference so nothing happens.. but if you start original adventure then swap to REAL missile command cart some weird things happen to missile command one time i got soncstant points and free citys every time even though every thing anilated then a nother time it was scary cool weird the smart bombs came from bottom up and got loud then just killed them selfs off points racking up .. a nother thing i like to do is change from b/w to color in flashback II advanture II cause in caves w no light in b/w mode you can see where youre going mabie a old original atari kid mode thing. basic1.txt mrchtree.txt ATARI81.txt

Here is a ansi terminal and the software for using 850 as serial device there is modem disk too all works for modem stuff. OH before I forget rename file from .txt back to .atr this site dont like atr files.. Most of these files are P domain but if there not Then this is my archival copy place just delete them if there not p domain I would guess they are since the system is not being manafactured althogh the (c )'s probably still hold .. CANYON CLIMBER WAS A DISK I bought from WIZARDS WORK A ACTUAL ATARI STORE in NEW HOPE MN I wanted the game on disk not tape cause my tape player was getting old and the 4 belts and 2 idlers in the tape recorder were going out SHE SAID i have it on disk I said ok you can keep the tape if you get it on disk for me I dont collect atari tapes so I got it home and my dad was using fix dump and noticed there was 4 more games on the disk and changed the d to a _ and the file was not deleted now the disk has more games on it ALSO frogger disk has music as the tape one does not?/ weird...also the canyon disk loads slower cause it was formated on a slow drive before my dad upgraded the cpm to atari sio emulation box witch has 2 disc drives and loaded cpm then a emulation to use box as atari disk drive it was cool. I am working on a way to use mp3 player and ake tape to fake atari tape this doesnt help loading from real tape..!!anyway enjoy if atari or emulation fails on basic games crap just load a nother basic game run menu then push 0 in basic menu to reload menu after inserting new image and viola since dos and dup are bad on some atari disks you can load menu and dos then swap disks after basic loaded menu this works on real atari too but its instant on emulation and you can have d2 on emulation and d2 as mirror on atari and have images live on real atari tis cool.. there are some weird verison s like cintipede w out fleas and you can put joystick under atari and hold fire and spider wont kill you some are internal atari prototype versions of games like slow packman untill 20 screens of keys then ghosts go FAST also there is a version of Missile command cart differnt versions you can push S on cart to load only SMART BOMBS I got to level brown 1 mill or more points and in dig dug you can get it stuck. if a ghost is comming from middle of screen you can get it stuck before it pops out of sub subspace it locks up game.. dkong is to spec as you can get on rivit board from right side you can get rivit w out going left across all the way you can switch back from left to right w out crossing gap and chomp a rivit also on top you can jump then push left or right before comming down next to DKONG ape and get points also you can on elevator board jump across the short way and its play like real version. there are more easter eggs But I cant rememebr them i will try to remember more I know if you have a cart in 800 or 400 you can flip on and off on pacman and get chunks on screen witch give points like keys .. on moon patrol if you push left up and fire at same time when pushing 1 for start it goes into demo mode or mabie its up and right fireing pusing 0 or some thing anywya there is a demo mode.. oh on galaxian start on level B but 100 levels later after flags flash then stop flashing rainbow colored then enymies who werent fireing at you will now all mad ... fire at you with vengance .. on miner 2049er somwhere you can push the phone number in the demo in to game and get level select . Official Atari home pong was always color. The ubiquitous pong consoles from other vendors were mostly B&W. The Pong that I have is from Tele-Games. Hook youre pong to youre tv on ch3 and see if you see color the color was not actual color just a color busrt rainbow color pattern witch is not actually color just a rainbow pattern on top of the graphics using the color burst crystal I dont know why they bothered but I guess they figured at least its color even though the game was one color.. anyway the system he has is somewhat rare cause the chip is CERAMIC its not old eeprom window but the pins look GOLD witch are expensive but its worth more as a pong look on ebay and check store w ceramic pins pong completed items and ask that guy h will tell you how mutch its worth. personally to me the BATTERY holder does not make a difference weather its beed replaced since MINE CAME FROM goodwill w corsion on b holder so i replaced the battery holder and the power pack plug witch was coroded too making no power I fixed it replaceing both parts and now it works It has battery cover but grey chip so its normal the ceramic chips are rareer because they are rare in the 70's thas all there was but now the chips mostly are plastic.. if the chip has a sticker over the erease window its SUPER SUPER RARE and probably a prototype that one looks early but defenantly subed out cause the window looks permanant.. it still is RARE er than most PONGS I would keep it.
