License agreements that are rendered and agreed to AS A CONDITION OF SALE are solid. That means you don't get the software, nor do they take your money, until the contract is signed and in the can. Those are generally not transferable as the license agreement is between the buyer, named on the contract, and the vendor. Often the software is limited to a specific machine, region of the world, IP address, and even named users.
The little "click here to agree" EULA deals, that occur AFTER THE SALE, really aren't as enforceable. What they are trying to do is capture the ease of retail sale, without also having to bear the cost of real contracts in the transaction. These generally are transferable, meaning you can take your software, remove it from your running environment, then transfer it, and the authentication keys to somebody else with no worries.
Software vendors are generally moving to online authentication in an attempt to correct this with technology means, still dodging the cost of a real contractual obligation. These are not as transferable, because of the online activation feature. I tend to avoid these where possible, preferring to either just do a full on contract, or obtain a portable copy, with authentication.
The "right of first sale" essentially means, when you buy something, it becomes YOURS. There are no end user conditions on the product that extend past the initial sale. Companies generally employ lots of means to get around that, including online authentication, warranty support being linked to original buyer, etc... With things that do not include those things, it's simply yours! You may destroy it, allow another user to use it, sell it, keep it, whatever.
In ordinary terms, it means you can't sell something with conditions like, "I'll let you buy this, only if you don't let Bob use it." That's not generally legal in the US. We have rentals for that purpose, not sales.
On the topic of old software...
Look, it's all under copyright, and will stay under copyright, until most of us are long dead, and that's how it is. If that makes you unhappy, join the club! The truth is, we've been extending copyright every year that Disney is faced with Mickey Mouse entering the Public Domain, and that trend appears to be set for the foreseeable future. The SCOTUS has ruled that extending copyright doesn't break the intent of law, and so it's being done.
What that means is this ENTIRE hobby runs at the pleasure of those who own those works. This is true whether or not they know, or deserve it. It's simply true.
What it also means, is if we keep it a hobby, run under the radar, respect the property, and most importantly, don't personally benefit from those works, it's going to largely be ok.
Please think about that and how much fun this old stuff is, and respect it for those reasons. Also think about modern gaming, where they've advanced the tech to the point where this hobby may not even exist! That's a reality folks. We might be living in the best of retro times right now, and that is worth not rocking the boat.
Keep it low key, don't exploit it, have fun, learn, do, build, and for God's sake, don't go pissing the owners off, or a lot of us will lose, and that's just how it is. GAME ON people!

Is anyone up to speed on the copyright laws for old Atari 800 games? As a kid I cared less. We just made copied for everyone. BUT today, if I wanted to offer copies of these old floppy games, what laws apply?
Thanks!
All of the © Laws Apply Talk to a Laywer If they are in a good mood they will happily talk to you about © law Be shure to include a
Free cheesburger and fries and buy them a pop from nearest machine then they might just discuss for Free © law but dont mention the word Retianer!..
Once I got paid $3 an hour to play a demo version of a game for the atari 800 Mr TNT I should have just bought the prototype cart then.
As like crackpots giveaway at grocery store I never obtained the promo carts..
now © is weird cause some guy at hamventention once as a normal vendor said Donkey Kong® and NINTENDO® of america® will sue everyone any time even if its an old © they will re © it before sueing you! .. now since its been 17 years and there is no $ in Atari800 Atari400 and Warner Brothers no longer supports Atari © repair shops the computer is obsolete but the new games made HERE are©
ed games if you change the name of the game and the grapics you can get away w making youre own version . BUT i call it an atari cartridge not a VCS or game program. A original listing is © the .bin file is ©ed but since i modified it and changed the name and graphics to aw's and ©'s on my asteroids®©ATARI® Atari is a Registered Trade Mark® of ATARI INC.© 1972 type game then i can get away with it MY game is not endorsed or supported by Atari ® AtariAGE® or any Atari ENTITY IN ANY WAY its a prototype only cart and a one of a kind not intended to compete w old Asteroids® and is for informational and educational purposes only!.
now if you make a game from scratch its ok NINTENDO had some weird © © settelment w Atari ® for there propritery type NES DOS so you could not run a bootleg game on the NES w out paying to have the NINTENDO ® SEAL of QUALITY ® on the label witch ATARI®
TENGEN® could have just opted not to use the NINTENDO ® seal of quality witch is why i hate TREMAIL he runied Atari ® on purpose and may he rest in peace but He probably had a heart attack he killed Atari® and COMMODORE too!!!!! My atari survived lightining the disc drive blew up the 850 blew up but the computer sat there and said READY_ witch means Atari knew what they were doing. all the atari needed was a PCI sio connection like the emulation . I wish Atari would Sell Cd roms w atari800.exe.
Here is there address
Atari
417 5th Ave # 7
New York, NY 10016-2204
There current Phone number is.
Phone Number (212) 726-6500
This is avalible when they are Hiring.
Good luck.
ALl © laws still apply.
If i make a PAcman®'namco' {[(Midway)(Licenced form )]} © Namco© inc.
If I take a Pacman rom and modify it its ok but if i make a FAKE Midway like pacman pcb thats ILLEGAL so i s copying a rom but if youre
fixing a rom for a actual board and its only for that board its ok as long as the Marquee is not FAKE on the cabinet and you use a original pcb.
if you make a crapload of fake 20th reunion or 25th reunion pcbs and cabinets you would be in © law violation w NAMCO.
however you can take a original runion pcb and do what ever with it . you just cant make fake pcb;s bootleg type.
TAITO DID A LOT OF USING bootleg type pcbs and just sent out UNIVERSAL stamp like stickers to make them licenced! in JAPAN. the JAPANEESE are Differnt and take © law differntly than we do . A bootleg GALAG pcb could be a original GAME in japan cause there is so many games in japan they would tie up court for 30 years figuring out what was bootleg not to metion some of the bootleg games were in fact the original game like MAGNAVOX pong was STOLEN by Atari but a little unknown fact is its aVARIENT and they actually PAID Ralf off with a licence fee! so YES © laws still apply today.
WHAT was youre intent anyway most Atari 800 games became worthless when my dad © ed a eeprom for someone for a socalled happy drive Iwas like ok there is the end of copy protection for the planet my dad said WHO CARES I SAID I do he said youre the only one . I said what about WINDOWS He replyed I pay Microsoft $10,000 A year for MSDN subscriptions DONT WORRY ABOUT xp ! I said OK.
I still have all the Atari games and the ONE origianl game i got from WIZARDS WORK . they make hunting games for the pc now! I got some canyon climber game there and I liked it the ONLY GMAE I purchased was CARTS from TARGET notice there new return policy no returns on video games or music unless in original wrapper unless defective.. I purposely once mutleated a nintendo smb game once then replaced it w returning the new one as defective that was nintendo 's fault for price fixing TENGEN ® TETRIS® NINTEDNO OF AMERICA® anyway I told Target I can still buy a new one take the old one and return the new one to fix the old one and they said NOTHING.
a heat gun and some sticker swaping and viola original becomes new again.
So
back to pong I bought a Game called TAIL OF ß LYRA it was cool but the game got corupeted but i think i fixed it with ULTRA COPY the most
ILLEGAL Atari400/800 file out there but it is cool I circumvented the shareware version of APE ® with it.'
I just mirror drive2 as drive 1 then copy a disk from it self to it self twice using a blank atari disk or just use miror of drive 1 to drive2 as the destination then save the file as a ATR! it worked and now my original NON ILLEGAL ATARI BASIC programs i
TYPED in by hand are now online as whell as the Atari TWIN CITY INTRESEST GROUP TAIG disks some of them are now on cdrom! with means no wires no crap laying all arond the house exept more IMB format computers 1 dual core ATHALON® with MMX® INTEL 2000 cros lices pattent and my Compaq HP laptop! with Atari800.exe..
I can now play my old Atari ® basic game I can run Microsoft Mbasic Witch means Microsoft basic on my atari even thouugh it was a copy I never run it anyway cause i dont do ms basic as whell as ATARI basic.
Artillery Duel/Chuck Norris Superkicks Double Ender label witch i never saw anyway untill atari age! .
its like atryirary dual its fun i added an explosion my brother was using the atari instead of apple cause he needed to know math
he loaded the file for math class and told me to push POP then push return(enter).
the Tail of Beta LYRA was my fav game it used the speaker for the keyboard and used color bursting like missile command® witch i can get
over 1 mill on S option push S in Missile COMMAND and only smart bombs come if you have trackball push t or j for trackball or joystick.
Atari 800 Carts are easy to program just save the file as a .bin I bet there is a basic to bin converter somewhere out there.
My next project is to use DE RE Atari manual to program ASSEMBLER EDITOR cart® to type in checkers and learn assembly language witch is like grapple.c for quake1 or quake2!..
HAve fun and dont worry unless you make $ copyrighed stuff you have mostly nothing to worry about. EBAY is noted for being NIAVE about
© when it comes to video games bootleg games are worth twice as mutch as the original ones EXEPT for the NES ON A CHIP witch IS A CLEAR
© violation 7,999,999 YAHaw right there is 19 games when you remove the crock jumper anyway I destroyed that cart and the whole game too then thing was a total rip off on a nes i can see a cart with a weird version of smb but leave it at that one bunny game or cat. dont make multi carts unless you change all the graphics and game play! no wonder they got sued and lost I remember the guy at RIDGEDALE I bought a game from him for $10 just for the cool box witch had donkeys from shrek on it and the thing in side was crap the plastic broke and the thing raley boots I could have bought a REAL famicom! damn I dont consider it a collectors item and want to get rid of it but keep it just for the funny box..
I did like that i could post Christmas Tree on christmas from TAIG Ugene OREGON Atari inteest
group disk 14 or 13 I upoloaded so every one could enjoy the christmas tree.

Sorry for the long rant

(Apologies for the DP) Apparently, I wasn't the first who noticed:
Here is an interesting discussion of someone discovering the FB2+ at Costco.
They go on to reminisce about other old school gaming consoles; an interesting read from others' POV's.
That was an interesting read. We become so immersed in this community and our knowledge, it's interesting to hear "outsiders'" viewpoints and fuzzy recollections and incorrect assumptions. Also, most opinions were that no one would want to play these old games now. I guess that depends on what games they're remembering, and I doubt any of them know about all the incredible new games being released. Most sound incredulous that anyone would buy something like this in 2010.
Havent you ever worked Retail I worked at a OASIS market once and they are LUCKY to have flashbacks in
Canada YOu know when you fill out the warenty card FUN inc gets happy thoughts.

So I took my cartridge connector from a broken atari and wired it up to my FB2 rev.c and i'm pretty sure its all correct. I used the power switch from the same atari as the cartridge/built in games switch. I've tried every combination of J3/J9 I can and can't get either cartridge or built in menu to load. Can someone tell me which way i'm supposed to wire it?
Youre game/cart switch has one gnd and one side gnds the other out of three wires put the
gnd in the middle and the game/cart select switch jumpers on the outer of the 3 wires on the switch you can use both poless!! you know scratch all but gnd gnd too then run jumper to middle switch connection then on one way is one jumper and other off pos =color on =cart and b/w =built in memmory UNHOOK BOTH wires and short only one to gnd at a time! good luck then use ch3/4 switch for bw/color GOOD LUCK USE GND STRAP
. askothers on atari age and they will understand how i hooked my color/bw switch up.
NO
use bw/color just jumper color /bw on for now! then take old broken 2600 cabinet and use cart connector just scrape wire off pcb then use cart wires to new wires then power switch has only on off on new mini flashback cases! you see now here is switch you need
1 2
3 4
5 6
pin 1 and 4 are on and pin 3 and 6 are off
on old 2600 power swith or color/bw switch unsoldered and hanging off flashback is as follows
for cart/built in
gnd 5 gnd but seprate from each other use jumper wires keep them seprate!!!
1 2 no connection
scratch pcb solder mask off 2600 pcb!
ok now assuming you know what switch im talking about
a removed switch unsoldered is already not hooked to pcb or scratched all gnd connection to rest of pcb so all 6 connections on power switch from 2600 not fb2 is completly unhoked
ok pin 1 no connection
pin 2 no connection
pin
1 2
3 4
5 6
pin 5 no connection for now
pin 2 cart on wire to cart on
pin 4 built in memmory wire to jumper solder spot! to gnd
pin 6 to built in memory to turn on a10 from built in memmory module or line select
pin 4 gnd
now pin 1 can be to power 5v out and 3 not gnded but to cap 5v+ must unhook 2600 9v power pack till cap dies meaning do not hook transformer up w out a load

I found the disk I was looking for SPACE St Paul Atari Interest group disk #13 witch had merry christmas and christmastree on it
I will leave a .txt file witch in reality is actually a atr file you can run w atari800.exe
the disk image is 1.atr i renamed it to 1.txt
also i found a nother autoboot disk no basic needed witch as a nother merry christmas card to you all...
ALSO NOTE Happy holidays to all and to all a Happy NEW YEAR 2010!!!!! ☺ wow I wish good tideings to all in avery language.
there will be more images of user disks and more public domain images if you like this one..
LOAD UP atari800.exe w basic loaded then load up 1.txt you dont have to rename 1.txt to 1.atr i loaded it and it worked anyway!!! cool huh.
then pick merrych
then merry christmas then wait.. use joystick to place 25 lights on youre tree then listen to music then when its done it says push start
but you dont have to cause all that does is load menu so i just turn sound down and leave as screen saver.. also christree is a nother tree w music.. so enjoy star is a file i typed in from compute magazine (no i cant remember witch one).
you move w joystick left and right avoiding space chunks score is added to screen was very hard to add onscreen score!.
joytest is joystick testor. paddle is paddel music testr.
I also ound a nother christmas image boot w no basic its called copy of merry christmas 19xx demo.com i renamed it to .txt so i could post here. I assume its public domain..
DUAL is a basic game needs two players and two joysticks and is fun its a turret game where you pick volicty (power) and angle to lob bombs at enemy it was one of me and my brothers most liked basic games that somewhat dont suck I think he typed in most of it and i modified the
explosions and the sound .. I forgot how but i rememebr doing it.
Logo is Atari symbol. ballons is a basic game horse is a horse racing game wait for the special charactor set to load it will run but takes long time to load in basic.. slalom is ski game.
I have included some snaps of Merrychristmas running..
note it lets you put lights above triangle of bottom of tree in same line .
I have Now Included a snap of menu.
You can type dos then using atari.exe.
You can choose new disk image after pasting copy of this one and then use copy type dos then delete all but menu on copy of 1.atr then use copy as blank basic disk this is what i did.
I just figured out atari800.exe lets you actually load files or SAVE files to atr images so on real atari if i load a atr image using APE I can save"d1:menu"
then autorun.sys runs menu on basic load I have changed this before password is sa -=*+(atari symbol)+=-*/ then it askes you to push start for menu witch i renamed to dir all i did was make a new menu and saved it as menu.bas you can use autorun to run any basic game or file just make shure the file is named menu.bas or menu now the thing is I forgot how I made autorun.sys It could have been a txt file but i forget.. ill include a nother basic games crap atr image and password protected one use sa i shortened the password cause you cant seem to get atari symbol graphics to work w my password file.
USE sa for password !!!!!!!!!!!!! ☺ you have no idea how long it took me to TRAP basic get$() and other things I even made the menu reload when you pushed reset you had a hard time pushing break cause i trapped that to I found on atari800.exe when its loading on reset you can push pause break same as atari break button and it stopps.... I then deleted lines to make less password input..
it was part of funpack .
Here is a trick to bypass password use the ATARI disk swap trick.
just boot w 1.atr or 1.txt then swap disk to passworded then just push 0 on menu and it will reload menu to let you see whats on youre disk.
as long as you dont run any basic file you can see whats on all youre atari images..
Please Enjoy These images ..
here is where i got atari800.exe
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/atari800/atari800/2.1.0/atari800-2.1.0-windx.zip
dont click on url right click and save as otherwise it will close window
Also the roms
Release Name: Original XL ROM
Notes: Darek Mihocka got the permission from Atari corp. to distribute the images of Atari 800XL's OS and BASIC ROMs. The XFormer 2.5 package that contains these ROM images is free now so download and unpack it to get the ROM files needed for Atari800 run
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/atari800/atari800/2.1.0/atari800-2.1.0-windx.zip
same right click and save as the attachements work just not these old external links.
Then you can insert these atr files as .txt files or reame them to .atr but they will load as .txt too and still run

'Boot Error' usually means there is no DOS on the disk. Find a ATR image of a Atari Dos and put your program on it. Then load it from DOS with the L command.Allan
Thanks i thought that was True.
I tryed searching on Google for ATARI DOS DOWNLOAD or something.
Just didnt find what i wanted.
But i guess i somehow recall there was a DOS Disk u had to insert first in the drive and then the bootless Game u want to play.

I ran into this the other day w atari800 plus win and atari800.exe sometimes you have to turn off fast disk access or have basic loaded!!! then it should load.
-
I've tried both Atari800Win 4.0 and 4.1 and neither display properly in Windows 7 (I thought it was a Vista problem, too). The colors are "inverted" or just wrong no matter the settings.
Is this a known bug or do I have a bad setting somewhere? Works fine in XP...
Mabie you need to both share youre whole atari800 dir and security too all everyone then restart and mabie it will work AS sometimes i get sharing violations ..w xp

Why would an Atari Pong unit be rare?
I have only seen B/W units. I didn't think there were any colour systems out in the wild.
They are ALL color you just have to have a color tv hooked to the ch3!!!!....
PLUS that cement white chip looks to be valuable check the store on ebay and ask him about the serial # he would know weather its worth $200 or more and since my pong units have plastic black chips there not worth mutch I think all pong unints have the color burst crystal in them you must have hooked to color tv also you must adjust tv to recive color sometimes on newer tv's the adjustment is automatic aft TRY adjusting the tv or the brass screw in the pOng unit to get the color to work it should be rainbow like his picture!!>. GOOD luck.. my unit is orange cause its using an orange monitor!.

I Once got a homebrew cart from dream catcher that had a 2764 28 pin eeprom in it I wanted to play snoopy so he sent for a $ a cart w snoopy on it I played then ereased imeadatly then programmed my own 8k asteroids(awroids) see http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/152589-using-willem-eeprom-burner/page__fromsearch__1
and it worked so did hackem so mabie you could get him or albert to sell you a homebrew 8k cart w eeprom programmed or blank..
good luck..
I also figured out a 7404 and 4 wires and a 2732 can be used on a normal atari cart I ripped a apallo cart apart and found a 2732 and a 7404 so i copied it using a atari pacman cart and a my own 2732 and used beep mode of volt meter to pin out the exact way they hooked the 2732 and the 7404 to the cart and found only 4 wires need to be addrressed ok 5 on the traces but once i had a working model to work w it was easy..
what you need is a 8k homebrew cart to work with .. mabie you coud just purchase a 8k game from atariage and take the eeprom out and use your's .. I didnt have to swap the rom on my cart it said wilkson on the pcb.. the 4k ones are just normal atari carts and the apollo one is a space chase blue cart w built in 7404 the one i have copeied idea from is just pacman cart w blue tape and a 7404 and a hitachi 2732 from bking II ..
a good place to get 2732's is ebay get a arcade birdie KING II pcb and it has like 20 2732 chips on it!!!!!
-
1st off dont throw the insides away 1st get 6v dc and inside try to see if it comes on mabie the on off switch is bad.. you can solder to the GNd then pick on the on switch to see if it comes on otherwise please take pictures of pcb before you mode it incase i couold use some of the parts...
or mabie help you get one of them running..
I almost forgot there are some really cheap color lcd tv's now that tv went all digital you should beable to get small color lcd tv's off ebay cheap. then just put composite in..
and mabie use a noac nintendo on a chip or a nother plug play like a pacman one or mabie a asteroids keychain would be perfect since its so small I once soldered a keychain asteroids joystick to a REal atari joystick just to get the real responce of a joystick..
that mod should be easy all you would have to do is solder 4 connections to joystick then reset button on bottom and fire button but would have to have a game w fire button but a small radio shack button should work too also a new plug play system would give more games and a lcd tv would take up room in open area and be probably flush to make screen the tv screen.. good luck.

Just to let people know Mine only costed $15 plus $15 shipping from china on ebay..
it works great espically w 2732 chips..
I have got 2764 chips to program the 28 pin chips and the 2732 24 pin chips..
I dont have any 24 pin 2764 chips but would like to see if they would work w homebrew
7404 mod so i could load up a 8k rom I havent got a 27c128 to work yet nor a 27256 I have used older one to copy from a 2764 to a 27128 and a 27256 and they worked in the wilkson homebrew cart witch uses a pal and a 28 pin 2764 chip.. I must have sent a file to a 27c64 cause I got hackem on one and it worked and I dont have any 24 pin 2764 chips so i know I got it to work w the longer chips I just dont have luck w the bigger chips ereaseing them .
SO for the $ I spent i think i got my use out of it ..
I was also able to unconcatanate a file from a 4 game hack for ARCADE PACMAN PCB I didnt do but downloaded the .zip file and took the contence and used the 6f fastcheat.6f then used the pacfast6f.6f file from the zip and burned a 2732 then used older digelec burner to burn from a 2732 to a 2532 !! and it actually worked in ARCADE hardware. this means i could change pacman roms from mame and they would load...
-
This Topic Is Related to EEPROM burners and how to use them ...
I have a willem pcb3 .
Pictures below.
it costed about $15 plus $15 shipping on ebay and I love it I used it to make my own homebrew Carts..
its eady to use and is very nice..
97ja is the software i use.
I have one with all the attachments.
I have never been able to use it. I have tried all the different serial connection options but all I get is "cannot communicate with Hardware - check connections".
Frustrating as it cost me quite a lot of money.
Nearly threw it away last week - cant see any point in keeping it.
DONT throw it away use the 97ja software and REMEMBER to use the parralell port and use a power pack not usb I know the use plug is confusing and dumb since its only for power...
but the good thing is it accepts .bin files !!! ... it works great for 2732 chips I program 2732 chips using this then use older one to load in 2732 then change to 2532 and got a 2532 to run on original arcade pacman pcb!.

1st off PLUG IT INTO THE PARRALEL PORT NOT USB !!!! use power pack and change jumpers next to power plug to the bottom jumper setting it works good w PCB3 mode and use .97ja software ..
I have programmed 27c128
and lots and lots of 2732 chips ALSO Albert would be happy to know i finnaly understand how to make my own homebrew chip for a 2732 4K atari game using a old Atari pacman pcb and a 7404 a 74ls04 will work as its the same thing..
the idea came to me when i ripped apart a APOLLO space chase cart..
I have since burned 6 2732 chips and i have also programmed a 2716 5 of them ..
you have to change the jumpers and dip switches...
I just hoook using a 25 pin extention plug one male one female no special cable needed..
just remember to use 15v or 12v DC power pack and put jumpers to VCC
then make shure software says pcb3 then pcb 3 jumpers on pcb3 then jumper vpp down postition
j3 down j1 left up down down 3 to pin 5
j2 pin 1 to 2
j8 down 5v!
j6 up
for 2716 it shows picture also for 2732! I USE paper chart to adjust jumpers .
here is some pictures of chips i pro
gramed using the burner.
I got all of the 2732 chips from a birdie king II pcb i got off ebay for only $9.99!!!!
it has like 17 2732 chips !!! most hitachi and some toshiba ones all work in normal 2732 mode..
you can put 2 or 4k roms on the 2732 chip..
also here is apicture of all of my atari carts..
I treid an attempt at a panaroamic so put left center and right pictures of carts in succession..
ALso i took pictures of my aw space invaders hack.
and the blue tape blob is a pacman cart i removed prom and put a 2732 and a 7404 with all pins exept 4 chopped off.. it worked I used the apollo space chase cart to pin out where the 4 wires on 7404 goto the 2732 !!!..
I have used the 2732's to put gorf cause my freind likes gorf . then I put
my version if asteroids see the © and the ® (aw) rocks and the © screen took
3 days total to figure out the hackomatic II rows to put it into..
then i put indy500XE on cart then modified that w no walls its awesome to have two player chase tag indy 500 w no walls you literally roll around in 360 SH_TYS its awesome... it really makes it fun to play carts on real hardware especally if you dont have two STELLADAPTORS..
then i took the other cart I have and that uses bigger longer 2764 chips.. and got
aw asteroids combat rock hackem!!! it actually works on flashback exept for when you push select in certian modes it locks up and score just skyrockets and it rolls horizontally. otherwise it works great.. then i loaded hacked version of FB II adv II so dragons mouth dissapires when he bites you !!! easyer to play.. and i included a 4k rom of GIN FIGHT the one with the burning ring of fire music and combat rock 2 it worked on a 2732!! also did my coke invaders hack 2 I also kept the original space chaSE rom I also included a
crbx combat hack witch i changed some of the graphics just to see if it would work.
ALSO see the AW invaders pictures notice the BIGGER 0's I changed them to look bigger and changed the sheilds to look wavy and the laser base is a stick to make whole game easyer cause its skinner er... as far as the burner as long as you use a eraser for 33 minnutes they usually come out SUPER HOT it will erase sometimes it wont erase the 1st time..
also uncheck 0x=ff=off uncheck!!! on willem pcb3 0.97ja software leave unchecked..
then use blank check if it passes then try burning it should burn in red color then when
it gets done it should do a check in green and say OK when done then you can run and check rrom in atari !!!!.....
the dips switches go like this 1 2 3 4 5 6 down 7 8 9 up and 10 11 12 down for 2732 mode!!..
remember donot use usb to power device as you might blow youre motherboard up .. use a power pack and remember usb is only to provide 5v power and since some chips use 12v use a 12 to 15v power pack a 24 volt power pack would be better but a 15v one or 12v one should work use at least 1000Ma or 1amp 12 to 15v DC power pack then change jumper to VCC not vusb..
using a usb port to power a device like that is just dumb.. also remember the burner uses a parralel port 25 pin to hook to software not serial!!!! if you were using a serial cable it wont to crap..
ALSO the willem uses paralall the digelec burner in the other post uses serial.. THIS USES THE parallel port...
GOOD LUCK..

I just rememberd you need a null modem cable and use xmodem I think hyperterminal would work..
the realterm works better though..
I just blew my big computer motherboard NEVER PLUG IDE CABLES IN WHEN POWER IS ON unless you have the bottom of the motherboard taped off w electrical tape..
anyway use 7,1,none and use null modem cable and xmodem(crc) to send files to burner...
send them in hex format and use the bin2hex file to convert them then put burner into intel hex mode then once file loaded you can burn to chip.. remember to check if blank 1st..
-
Btw, if you want any other AtariAge homebrews while you're at it, just let me know and I'll be glad to help you out!
..Al
Q1 Can I Still purchase a stelladaptor ? .
Q2 can I purchase a blank 2600 8k w EEprom!? i can erase it!!.?
-
As i remember you have to click something to send files please give me copy of real term i lost mine..
I will run file and see if i cant use null modem and get it to send files...
-
-
Its all comming back to me now youre watching BOOM from cartoon network.
GRAPE APE grabe ape grabe ape..
I remember i used a motorla null modem cable from a old qualcom cell phone..
I forgot all about the null modem DAMn
anyway here is the address for the bin to hex file you need .
If i send you a self addressed stamped evnelope could you send me a cd-rom burn of the manual...
or mabie ill just send you a memmory stick!!!>...
here is logical devices bin2hex or hex2bin I wonder why the eeprom burner would suck a whole file up then not like it
it was cause of the null modem cable!.
please show me what youre 31 execute settings are...
oh before i lost the paste buffer
C2 SST 27SF512 Chip [C2] - Works fine as a drop-in replacement for the AT29C256
now if you need some generic 27256 chips i have a crap load of them I have
a whole stick 7 tms27c256 ok i only have 3 of them tms means texis instruaments...
if you need me to program something for you let me know and ill program and send it to you ...
thanks for reminding me about the null modem cable ill have to try my null modem adaptor ..
http://www.hex2bin.com/bin2hex/
then send that file to digelec !!!!!
just take combat.bin in dos and
be in same dir and
go bin2hex combat.bin and it will make a combat.hex file for you.

and vise versia./.

Lord almighty! I've never seen posts that long before! RH, that movie is great!

Whell The state of mind needed to remember how to program a EEPROM programmer requires me to
look into the past and that movie reminded me of 2000-2001 and 1999.
A story is in need of being explained.
ONCE a pon a time a long time ago in Mayfeild heights OHIO I was about 1 year old my mom said look
Watch the moon landing I cant remember weather I grabbed the vhf knob on the tv and rotated it to U cause
U always ment ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!! that I can remember.. The moon landing I know I cant remember.
Later as a kid I do remember We had a birthday party for my brothers freind and there were babys there
cause he is only 2 years older than me so if i was 1970 he was 3 or 4 and I was 2 we had a
baby toy a flanel tube in witch you could crawl into and out of it was about 3 to 4 feet long I cant remember wTF it was for exept I think it was some kind of baby crawl thing I loved it I would always goto sleep inside then my brother being mischef like he was and THE OLDER BROTHER MEAN always would roll it to make me dizzy then i would come out disorented then my mom watching the whole time would of course BITch at my brother who would start crying then I was already crying but 2 minnutes later we would on purpose push the crawl log around on purpose it was a blast..
then I remember crawling in in OHIO and my mom said WE have to go in side now I cant remember details of being 1 or 2
years old!!!!!!!!!!!!! but I do remember saying I dont like this party I dont want to move to Minnesota all my freinds are here now i cant remember if i could even talk but i bet i could as you can see i TALK A LOT,.
anyway I remember crawling out of same tube toy in Minnesota In new hope at a nother b day party I think it was 1970 and i was 2 I remember crying cause I had no freinds yet in Minnesota...
I know that was lame..
then in 1974 my dad got a Altair 8800 computer AS A KIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! '
it was a Digtial something brand... anyway it had switches
up up down up up down down down .....
run stop
then later in 1975 my dad got the 1st TAPE PLayer kit from someone else in MINNESOTA!!!!! yes minnesota is
technilogicly advanced as califorina ..
then in 1976 we got the 1st 8¼ or 8½ i cant remember 8 inch DISc drive unit it had two drives and wad cool as hell..
my dad had CPM on it .
brb need to load something to show example of software in 1976
here are some Adv.exe pictures It was the 1st non basic game written in c or assembly language ..
then I remember typing in ELIZA then my brother told me finnaly after he finished typing it in I think it was a sunday.
he said SHUT UP and pushed enter I mean RETURN!!!! then it stopped at line??
then said ok.'
then In 1978 cristmas we got an Atari 2600 for chanuka my dad got it on sale at targer witch we didnt know untill the next YEAR i mean two years later in witch he made a VERY DUMB MISTAKE ok i did..
we had the original atari 2600 but combat blew up !!!!!!!! gee i WONDER WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUH FLASHING THE ATARI and pulling
carts out when threr is shag carpet and static all around in the winter is not a good idea!! . any way I think i blew the whole atari up I think I had it apart and I guess flashing wasnt enough then I remember the WORST DAY OF MY LIFT..
the DAMN aztech RF modulator went bad!!!!! man that pissed me off it was a bad revision and the damn rf mosulators caused a BAR about 1 inch long to roll as interferance on the atari it was so damn annoying..
I told my dad since combat was blown up to send the whole atari back to Atari !! we even had the box in the closet..
we sent it back keeping the paddles!! and all the joysticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then Atari sent a new one back!!
complete in brown shipping cardboard and in a new box witch we should have just left in the shipping box and got a new one but we didnt we liked using the warrenty ..
anyway later next hannauka my dad decided it was time to Upgrade the electronic baby sitter by getting us a Atari400 from target he said he had to RETURN the Atari 2600 in order to afford the atari 400 At that time i had no clue about budjets or how mutch stuff costed...
he returned the atari 400 to Target it was $159.99 !!! retail but since Target HAD sold him the Atari ON sale on his credit card but it was NOT ON SALE at the time he retuerned it they HAD to give him the NON sale price!!!! he was like WTF and they said STORE POLICY he said OK and came back w atari 400 witch he hid from us untill the 1st night of hannuka
I cant even rememeber hannuka i can only remember MISSILE command ..
then in 1980 my dad got a eeprom burner for the cpm machine and was always updating the c-mos in his altair computer.
i remember it was an ICE MON he made a device called somthing w NWW MICROSYSTEMS ice 8080 or something like that anyway he use it as a built in modem and terminal it was a terminal DUMB TERMINAL W OUT SCREEN in witch you could use as a remote system to log on to a cpm terminal as a remote system .essentally exactly like the dominoes tos systems exept no screen.. before that he built the keyboard out of wood and a cherry switch keyboard he had to wire the keys every one singly each key was a cherry microswitch !!! could you amagine how loud it was . then we got new keyboards w silent keys
then he built a keybaord interface from scratch and made a nother wooded keyboard for the kitchen this was 1974 or 1975
or late 1975-early 1976 i cant remember but july 4th 1976 it was hotdogs adventure apple pie and chevyrolet..
anyway he hooked the keybaord to a video interface chip to the 1976 13 inch b/w panasonic tv witch he hooked a bnc connector to the back of the tv and hooked the keybaord into the composite video pin....
I used to watch SPECTUM a UHF ch 23 scrambled Zenith ssavi II tv station It had porn at night and was a pay scrambled
UHF over the AIR tv station..... lasted untill people figured out that you could short pins 10 and 11 together and it would circumvent the address decoder and just descramble even if you didnt pay for service...
anyway I just used the b/w tv and the keyboard bnc connector and would slightly unplug the keyboard connector from the
keybaord and the bnc on the tv wilst watching ch23 spectrum and it would stablize the keybaord signal and i could watch spectrum..
then the keyboard would hook to a stereo gutiar connector in the wall going down to the basement hooking into the
altair computer so we could use the computer in the kitchen witch would run gnd TX and recive wires upstairs my dad had a custom specail he rewote the c-mos to accept two keybaord inputs..
then the ice mon device gave two things my dad said he wanted to make the computer come on down stairs so he 1st made it have a password for the keybaord inorder to use it so after upstairs on the remote dumb terminal we would type
steve 1 otherewise the curser would blink in the left corner of the tv witch has burn in in 6 spots of the same size _
curser anyway the modem password terminal device would hook into the upstairs terminal down staird then into the
altair this wya we could push steve1 and the ice mon device would snap a relay and the computer downstairs would come on
then if a disk was in the drive we could do this
a:
b:
a:>
adv.exe
then it would run adventure.
also he made a new c-mos w users
you could do a user1
prompt $p$g
and that stuff
he once wirewrapped a clock for the altair and also we had a sound blaster it was called the sb talker..
some middle eastern guy he was cool he was the guy whoes voice was in the sb talker thats why the weather radio always sounds like a middle eastern guy he invented the sound blaster I think he is from saudi arabia .. anyway.
i always tried to make the sound blaster say shnaouze it cant say that word in can say snauze but not shnouwze it can say faw que but not the latter fu spelled correctly it sounds wrong...
Then I remember my dad got a new eeprom programmer about the time atari400 came out before we got one..
I remember he copied basket ball and his freind helped he long forgot BUT I remember he used a 7404 a ls7404 for the bank switch i long forgot what bank switch was and didnt even know what memmory location was about..
so i had to remember when i was a kid cause i remember my dad used a lot of intel 2716 chips 27 of them to be exact I counted 56 chips my dad still has the original chips cause i left them he said i could have what i wanted ''needed''
i kept his 2708 special c-mos chips he used to have his old altair stuff on cause i know he would want them for senitmental value.. I stole all the 7400 7404 and all the anything i needed for arcade pcb .
this is why i always have to be super tired when writeing these replys i have to remember being a kid cause when i was a kid i used to do a lot of serial port work using dumb terminals w modems to use the modem as a caller id device1!
I forgot all about null modem..

I like that You used the b/w switch as I needed it to change from built in and cart mode on flashback II rev D anyway I used the ch3/4 switch for b/w since
I used composite video OUT!!! witch is cool becuase I put my flashback into a old 2600 case and it looks cool .. I like that you need to push fire on every
level to start game in case you need to take a ''rest break'' or the phone rings right when pokey is on youre tail.
