  1. oh i almost forgot I have a old IPAc controler chip for mame its ps2 but still probably works if you want it i could part w it for cheap if you plan to make mame cabinet it has 13 inputs its made from ultimarc also if you make mame cabinet i still have some unbutcherd usb thumb mouse trackballs witch you could use as usb trackballs.

  2. CN brings up a good point... I'm building a Centipede style cabinet for my project. I found an actual Centipede cabinet on Craigslist yesterday, in excellent condition, for $350. I have $300 just into the computer to run my cabinet. If I just wanted to play Centipede, that would save a lot of time, money, and effort.

The computer is not an issue for me because I get retired machines that are earmarked for disposal at no cost. I have a machine in my basement running Dr. DOS - it's probably around 500 MHz or so.

remember dosbox 0.72 is a nother choice for dos witch works great for nesticle o43 complete w all sounds it buzzes a little but but it still works good.

to note you can gut a computer trackball into a arcade trackball by doing this

on trying to make a birdie king II board work w joystick inputs i got from mikes arcade as joystick inputs I found out they are actually trackball inputs not joystick inputs !! anyway scratch the up and down portains of the opto isolator wheel inputs from both sides up down left and right then the other single infra red led is the transmitter so its 5v+ on both wheels inputs then the output leds are up down left right I think if you scratch the +5v in to the wheel optoiso you can figure out witch ones to leave then the output ones are simple they are the ones not gnded to the chips on the mouse or trackball you can scratch the pcb traces then solder youre own wires so you would have

    1 5v+

    2 up

    3 down

    4 left

    5 right

6 pcb board ground or gnd..

i actually used a small usb trackball thumbwheel trackball mouse for my arcade cabinet and modifyed it to have the actuall arcade output instead of usb witch will never work again this is in p2's joystick hole and fits perfectly i mounted it w tie wraps and it seems to stay good. then the left joystick i replaced w new ms pacman joysick i got off ebay then i hooked up birdie king II 1st then mr do so if i change games i have to unplug jamma connectors witch i made from old broke arcade boards and made my own jamma finger boards witch work then i used original monitor plugs for bking II then used extra screen chasses video connectors for mr do so i can just unhook screen from each board not having to use the jamma connection for both games one game mr do uses almost the whole jamma connection the birdie king uses external amp cause i blew up 12v input and dont like using 12v on board in the 1st place luckally the mr do board uses its own amp but i can change from mr do and bking w jamma connector I guess i should change out so its totally jamma then i could leave the r g b sync and gnd hooked up for both games and just change jamma connector but im lazy .. I did however found a guy nammed chris on ebay in maplewood MN who can repair youre arcade monitor to new.

I had changed from bking II to mr do and had power on when flipping YOKE wires on screen cause mr do is upside down compared to bking II and blew motherboard on arcade monitor almost threw it out untill i asked him about a 13 inch screen he had and he said he repairs screens 19 inch k4600 series too mine is a 4600 series its not the exact same number but he had a new chassis motherboard witch looked like it had just been manafactured and cleaned it was tested and new and worked great SO now w the old cabinet being from a WIZ wor with burnin and klax burn in it now plays mr do and birdie king II . I also changed it from horizontal to veritical went to home depot and got some brackets and some screws and carrage bolt and nuts and lock washers and viola i changed it from horizontal to vertical I never hooked the degauss coil back up and dont need it anyway I can use my solder gun and wave it by to do that..

ALSO I also got a Data east cabinet off ebay had to drive from MN to boarder of Kansas iowa to pick it up got two for $70 it was worth it now i got screen 13 inch off ebay new from slot machine has 2 pits in glass but when inside cabinet you cant see and they dont look like scratches and you cant even see them then i finnally got the pacman pcb to fit into the cabinet this was a royal pain in the butt but i finnally got it to work had to remove a socket on board to make it fit

SO if i change roms in pacman i can get Miss packman PLUS © 1982/1983 Midway namco not for hire

ms pacman normal dut board and regular pacman the blunt fruit roms are in roms 5e and 5f the maze and ms pacman are in daughter board... I wish i could combine all roms to make 4 in one board w misspackman + ..

SO i have 3 arcade cabinets the 1st one being Space invaders PArt II deluxe Midway in cabinet shown in my avatar a data east cabinet runnning pacman and a wiz wor stand up w rare Mrdo marquee yellow.. GOOD LUCK if you need any tips or mame32 version 067 or old mame32 for asteroids or any of my mame versions that let you skip disclaimers let me know..

  3. Had another run. I'm still rusty, but now I remember why I don't like SI Deluxe.. it's too hard! I don't like that the invaders split on level 2, and the shots come down a lot faster on level 2 as well. SI Part 2 had a much more casual difficulty progression :)

Anyway.. I kept making dumb mistakes. 8900 is my score after 2 tries tonight.

    .INP file attached as well.

    post-31-1233301854_thumb.png

wow as far as i know the games were subposed to be the same exept for the color factor I will have to load up mame again.

  4. I just have a general question.

will it be a good idea to attach the rom with the original post? OR you are not allowed to do that.

OR maybe host it somewhere so everyone will have the same rom version

I do that with the 8-bit HSC... but I also have permission from one of the folks from Atarimania, where I get the ROMs. I don't know what the "legality" is of doing that... but it might not be a bad idea, if we could do that too.

unless you plan to SELL the roms you probably Wont have Taito on youre butt but they still own the © and Mikes arcade

sells multi invader rom boards but they are only for use on Real Midway invader boards since youre all playing for informational and educational purposesses and not selling the roms for use on Real Hardware witch comes to a thought about PAcman roms on Ebay witch are COPYS and are ONLY for use for REAL pacman Midway boards witch means unless you are making BOOTLEG original Midway pcb's I wouldnot worry a bit about posting mame roms for Space invaders BESIDES I if i ever get a usb burner could use some new games to play on my Real hardware the game play is totally differnt on a Midway pcb than mame cause when they go left they go slower than when they go right witch means when they go DOWN they go faster since Space invaders actually write sprites sideways on the tv meaning if you want to play correctly hook computer to youre tv then input mame.exe c:\invaders invaders -soundcard 1 -noscanlines -rol 1 -skip_gameinfo -skip_disclaimer -double and enjoy...

i actually hooked my arcade cabinet to my tv once to see what it looked like

    it was cool .

I also wonder why mame never implemented the PRESET MODE game witch i think is actually cheating so with preset mode shut off and chip b2 pin 5 a real tilt instead of shorting center tap of transformer to gnd all you have to do is gnd pin 6 on sound card on left side and it boots! so lets start A NOTHER high score contest.. starting w 2 credits NO TAX NEEDED its a 1 player game twice1!!! 2 credits best of both games 1 player then after 2 credits lets see how many more credits and what the high score is before we all get sleepy when someone responds and i respond to it then contest will start it will be unoficiall unless the mod of this contest wants to start a nother SI contest THEN onto SSI. but that would be harder cause in the Rainbow foods we always used to give player's quarters and get change for them to keep them going I remember at least 10 boards on SI on real game.. on SI DELUXE PART II MIDWAY version i played to past 5000 points just to get into high score table!!!!! also to fix sounds the 330pF caps and the 470pF caps require you to play wilst soldereing capacitors on to see sounds makes fixing a pain in the butt but remember pin 13 on main chip does a hold function I spent $400 on pcb boards on ebay to fix my machine had space encounter running once but sold off chips and fixed someone elses board once..

  5. Ok, after looking at the two different ROMsets, there is a rather large difference between the two:

Space Invaders Part II: The UFO is worth 500 points, whereas the UFO in S.I.D. is only worth 200. Since there is such a huge difference, and S.I.D. was the game suggested, I'm will only accept scores from the Space Invaders Deluxe ROM. You might need both ROMsets in order to play S.I.D. so search for both.

    Some other differences:

Part II is made by Taito and is in color. S.I.D. is made by Midway and is in B&W. Hope this clears up the confusion. More to come soon!

Part II is made by Midway and SID is made by Taito you have it backwards I have a MIDWAY cocktail II space invaders DELUXE motherboard it boots to Part II cause Tatio made Midway cause of a licencing issue make it say PART II although you are correct in that the game roms are swapped in what game you play lame huh..

also on my cocktail cabinet if you push p1 p2 start fire p1 p2 and left right at same time on p1 and p2 control panel the high score changes to made by TAITO! witch is cool ..

ALso i have a question can i just play the REAL thing and get into contest as it would be impossible to cheat..

I have roms D E F G H cause it is deluxe part II the cabinet is a original space invaders and has original glass I did how ever remove power supply and used a old 486 one and soldered it to MB and removed old power supply and use 12v only for the lights then 5v 5v 12v -5v and last 3 gnd and the last one is video composite out so i can unplug screen and hook to vcr if i want to watch tv on my arcade cabinet this is because space invaders uses a b/w sylvania wells gardner screen basicly a b/w tv w out tuner I actually played atari on it once it was cool. But since its a game youre playing here can you start a 2nd round so i can join up I always seem to miss the fun contests..

you can see a picture of it in my avatar..

  6. But the gum was used in an episode of Macgyver! That's gotta be worth a lot!

"Psst! Hey, buddy! I'll sell you a penny for $10! Come on, it's a once-in-a-lifetime offer; you won't see this kind of deal ever again! Whaddaya say? I'll even throw in this already-been-chewed piece of gum for no extra charge!"

    Michael

in witch memmory region do i program a 8k rom to on my burner

I see you all talking about $1000 if i wanted to burn a eeprom do i need to erase all rom spots on the eeprom burner to empty it to beable to send it new info instead of burning info from last copy.

$1000-$13FF mirrored at $1400-$17FF, $1800-$1BFF, and $1C00-$1FFF? It would be cool to have 1K carts (and even 512 byte carts

so if i wanted to burn a combat rock cart witch do i burn to $1000-$13FF and $1400-$17FF I dont even know what this means but i think when i got the eeprom burner it was empty thats why i was able to burn asteroids to it then once i tried to change rom after getting erased chip witch was blank but i dont think the rom in the eeprom burner where you store file before burning to eerpom was not erased properly then i burned a nother game not asteroids and it loaded asteroids for 2 seconds then stopped i was like wondering if i forgot to erase eeprom memmory in the burner and mabie it has asteroids stuck in $1000-$13FF so my question is this for combat rock into a 27?? chip what do i need for a blank eeprom and what address do i erase before i program and where do i program it to this might help me.

    thanks.

  7. Yours sounds like a Rev. B, or maybe Rev. C is similar. I posted a while ago about my Rev. B board mod with pictures.

Anyway, you need to short J3 and open J9, and J9 is actually a 0 ohm resistor that you need to remove, or solder on wires for a switch.

The cart pin pads are indicated by a combination of numbers and a white circle in silkscreen around the pad. I agree that #21 is confusing, but if you just look at pads with silkscreen around them, there is only one pad it could be (it's not right by the number, but use the process of elimination to figure it out.)

Thanks for getting back.I found #21, after correcting my pinout problem at the cartrige side.pin 1 is bottom right corner thru 12, going left.I had wired the bottom row left to right!I didn't refer to the pinout in the FAQ.thanks everything is working.

Why the 0 ohm resistor? do I need this with the switch mod?

    thanks again-"e"

the zero ohm resistor turns on the built in memmory so it probably turns the chip enable on and off so when you switch to cart it turns off the built in memmory anyway the switch used to switch between built in and carts is a single throw double pole meaning it has two switches built into one switch one on the right side and a nother on the left side I just scrapped the whole black and white and color switch completly off the motherboard on my cabinet i used a old 2600 witch was toast and scratched the cart slot too every pin on top and bottom so i could solder them to flashback II

I had to seperate the both sides of b/w switch but left the gnd then finnally figured out how to hook it up I had to swap one side to get it to work but it looks exactly like a normal 2600 from the outside but now has a built in flashback II I also decided to use the power switch differtnly than it was normaly wired so i scratched that too and made power always on then took 5v after the output of the lm340t(7805) voltage regulator after the capacitor so the power switch unhooked from the capacitor output so if you plugged it in the power pack would have a load as one time a zenith power pack blew up but i think that was cause it had a center tap! anyway i used the ch3 ch4 switch for b/w and color on the flashback II and also scrathced the whole joystick 1 and 2 controlers and dificulty switches off too at least those goto gnd so that was only one wire needed for difficlty a and b then the reset button and select button was easy too just one small wire to gnd then that works too. so i snipped then black and white sticker a little so it says b/m and cart not flipping the w over and using it as a m b/m means built in memmory and c means cart so only for a small amount of sticker missing from color/bw switch you cant tell the differnce its a 4 switcher so the ch3 switch is on back making it easyer to get to than if it was a old heavy sixer and the ch3 swtich was on bottom threw hole you needed a long screwdriver to change so this is easyer.

GOOD LUCK. I think you have the most impossible hard hack version Flashback II board I tried it once and got the switch screwed up I did however load up tank once but didnt know about the zero ohm reistor SO i couldnt turn off the built in memmory and had yars revenge like chunks on the screen I called electronic interferance witch was cause i didnt know the switch was double pole meaning two switched simultanously must be switched to change from built in d external I did get tank to work but never found out about the 2nd switched line to turn off built in memmory the other switch i guess i found must have been pin 6 on cart chip enable cause unless on the working rev c the one w the jumpers and markings easy to mod one i put into the 2600 the other one is toast I do have 2 extra cases for flashback II'2 one w sticker one w out both in pretty good condition. anyway when you play you can get the b/w switch just between the two outputs and get one to stick before it completly turns off and you can see that same interferance i saw also if you do switch it all the way off and goto built in memmory and leave cart in you can see a small amount of rf interferance from the file running in cart on game running in built in memmory this is like the left side anyway if you unplug cart it goes away more .. GOOD LUCK pleas post picture of finished product!   :D :D

  8. damn i typed a whole lot of stuff and it got deleted cause cookes expired .

anyway i used to flash atari all the time

    http://www.eeggs.com/tree/563.html

pinball machines are subposed to be nudged our 1936 kennys clover pinball machine w nickel slot and 5 balls no flippers had a tilt and the only way you could get it to do what you wanted was to nudge it since it didnt have flippers the tilt prevented it from being jostled to mutch..

Wow....People that don't know the difference between flipperless pinball (yeah, that's what they were called, and how they were played) and flippered pinball, and the fact that they are played differently are kinda interesting.

Bet your one of those who also doesn't know the difference between Football and Rugby, or Pool and Nine ball (or any number of other games that have the same roots but are different games)

CONFUSING skiming with using an automatic singer reading machine can fuck someone up

I did not mean to swaer but i had to get the grammer right.

When i was in grade school we had these tape recorders hooked to singer reading machines witch took film strips and had the tape recorder control frame advance of words but the rate at in witch the shutter blocked the word then

lifted to the right uncovering the word was controled by a pot you tuned making it move faster witch would advance faster.

Anyway i cant remember all but i confused skiming with reading so it still takes me 5 times to READ it then 5 more to actually let it sink in and comprehend the whole paragrah .

wow my grammer sucks and so does my PUNKT .

i just realized you gave me 7 times more crap cause i didnt even read youre reply before judgeing it im glad i re read it I relized you already stated ..

Wow....People that don't know the difference between flipperless pinball (yeah, that's what they were called, and how they were played) and flippered pinball, and the fact that they are played differently are kinda interesting.

    ..

whats even more interesting is i learned how to use the sidebar of side kick its a no brainer.

onto PLYMOUTH JR high to clean the Cassette tape heads on the cassette copyier hmm job posibility thats the job i wanted anyway was AV department cause thats always fun and easy for me plus i might learn something from the cable company about telecaptions I didnt know.

  9. A friend of mine was frying his Sears 6 switcher and lost the sound on it forever. I think it was the Frogger cart at the time. Pulled it out, then shoved it back in, wiggling the power switch to get goofy shapes and game states. Once the sound was gone, it was GONE. Not even a peep from the pins on the chip itself!

That is the only incident though.

Everybody knew the hold down reset and turn on the system trick for double shots.

A few times, I got very dark purple invaders by flicking the power switch. It's a cool color that I've not seen very often. Always wondered about that. Haven't the guts to try it on the machine I have now.

whell i learned something about c-mos the other day .

remember the differnce between c-mos and rom a rom is burned in and stays but c-mos can be updated.

whell shorting c-mos chip on laptop killed drive lock password and got it to detect new memmory and i figured out i blew a memmory chip dropping it on floor and getting static snap anway c-mos chip in laptop had nothing to do w memmory being bad but figuring out memmory was bad and i had 2 128M sticks and that it booted w only one made me happy cause c-mos chip was still GOOD the good news was that the square chip did what i thought it would since it was square it was made more like a cpu it was not c-mos fully only the part that took the boot sector and the stuff you changed were voiltile meaning if you short it out or turn it off it had a back up copy in a nother portion of it self and could have differnt sections if c-mos witch was safe more because only the part that was to be changed would courrupt that made me remember blowing up pitfall II trying to make it work on flashback II my 1st attempt.

I got it working I just had one of the sides of the select built in memmory and cart memmory backwards cause i could see tank but whole screen was full of interference like yars revenge now i know from next attempt the color/bw switch is what i used got stuck between on and off and part of the right or left dp dt double pole double single throw wow single throw means on off not off on up or on down thats a double throw hmm ok anyway one side was still connected so internal memmory was still on my working flashback II mod works backwards instead of shutting pin 6 off on built in it only shuts off the external cart anwyay i saw same interferance and said to my self damn i could have fixed flashback II but i didnt know about atari age yet I could have sent it to someone and had them show me witch wire i screwed up on I also didnt know pitfall II wasnt compatible w flashback II now its blown

hmm if someone could just bankswitch it to a single chip it might boot.

if i run snoopy in my bootleg board on flashback it always boots when going from flashback memmory back to cart hole even if flashback memmory gets stuck in nes on chip menu crock hmm i think that flashback ii is just a nintendo with a atari sound blaster (soundblaster meaning sound circutry) a soundblaster has to have a yamaha chip

with wav tables an atari has pokey and riot chips for sound not emulated but i wonder if thats why the keychains sound crappy is cause the sound wouldnt have fit every one complains about sound being crappy on keychain but did you ever think atari made those versions as collector versions and when playing on sutch small hardware w less memory the sound degrades I was playing atari on a toshiba someone gave me the other day it had harmen karden

speakers and is loud I finnaly realized the volume knob on the front of laptop cause playing mp3 then was trying to get snoopy using DOS stella the old version from my 1st cd rom burn disk i still have from old 6x 4x 2x rw cd rom burner the dos version of stella cant play bezerk voice enchanced but windows version stella x witch happens to work win 98 just fine so does avast so windows 98 is not dead !!!! anyway some games actually do have crappy sound w the old dos version of stella like some of those cool whamma type demos the sound is crappy so i wonder if the keychain is whimping on sound or is it a differnt version I know i wish worlords had more levels so you could be the guy who always gets the ball.

or that there could be a paddle/pot connection for player 2 and a player 2 jumper like the 1 player paddle i modded w real atari paddles , the funny thing my brother snapped a whole in paddle button 2nd night of hanukkah

be broke fire button on p1 paddle i had to flip the button but it still works i had to change out that whole paddle cause it was to brittle good thing my atari stuff is in rubbermaid tote!.

  10. Tilting, bumping, wiggling, etc... is part of the game of pinball. They have sensors on the machines so that you don't exceed the mechanical limits of the thing.

The reality is the physical element is there. I know if my ball is teetering on a pin, where one direction means lost ball, and the other keeps it in play, I'm gonna nudge! The best of the best when I was a kid all did it, and it is something to see.

Of course, nobody has to do it, and the sensor is there for those that get abusive. All good.

And, in other sports where the physical element is there, the good players use every bit of leverage they can, without running afoul of the rules. Either that is the way a person rolls, or it isn't, but it sure as heck isn't cheating.

Another analogy is poker. It's all about the cards right? WRONG! What is said at the table, how it is said, when, with what bets, etc... all is a factor. Get somebody pissed, or drunk, or nervous, then take their chips, while trying to make sure you don't end up in the same state!

I can think of lots of examples where that kind of thing comes into play. It just happens, and if somebody wants to compete, they've got to step up and be aware of it.

That said, nothing more than a simple nudge is all it takes. No slamming, no abuse, no nothing. Many sensors don't allow any more than that anyway, rendering the point moot. To me, playing a game for a bit of fun means PLAYING the game. All elements considered, maybe even figuring out new ones. Patterns, tilts, funky control combinations, bugs, etc... A game is a simple experience. It really is what you make of it. I never went for the high score board as much as I did just pulling off fun stuff, whatever it was.

Thats why he brought it up I must have been thinking about the anti cheat mech in the 1936 pinball machine.

whell 1936 was the 1st pattent stamped on the 5¢ coin slot slide...

that remind me def dumb blind kid shure plays a mean pinball now that i think about that machine i bet it was a bally cause the little notes inside the machine had the same fonts and were jagged like instruction cards found in my bally space invaders and wiz wor cabinet then one that says 110V had the same jagged edge and was labled the same way. I still love crimson and clover over and over I bet someone was smoking crimson clover and playing

kennys clover I love that song the delay lines are so cool .

want to hear a cool reverb like delay hook the tv tuner on your computer to stereo.

hook youre computer to youre home stereo using the tape IN then take the tape out and run it into the hauppauge or other tv tuner composite audio in then cause the tv tuner is software mode it delays audio unless you turn off the capture in regedit for pvr it makes a howling eccho select windows 98 dangerous creatures explantion point for windows default default sound then do the delay open tv tuner put it on composite in then hook to stereo tape out hook computer speaker out to CD in then click speaker by clock and push mouse and hear the crock bird echho and reverb its cool.

since there is a delay on the tv tuner and youre looking at same source the delay causes a audio delay its cool.

  11. flicking the on/off switch rapidly.

Yes, it's called "frying". This can often yield crazy benefits.

I was able to trick some arcade games' coin mechanisms by dropping in a slug, or foreign currency.

And Random, I gotta concur with the others.. bumping the table has always been a part of pinball playing.. you don't have to do it if you don't want to, of course.. it just adds a cool skill element where you try to bump but not too much, else the classic TILT sign comes up and you lose a ball. If bumping were really discouraged, your game should flat out end, not just result in the loss of one turn.

I thought that was cool that the Atari 2600 version of Atari Pinball let you guide the ball with the button and joystick to act as a bump, and if done too much the screen would go red (tilt) and the bumpers/flippers wouldn't work, and you would eventually lose a ball (you could still guide it around and avoid the hole(s), but you couldn't score any more points that turn).

OMG OMG when i was a kid my freind allen would always like pinball and we would have contests to see who could get high score I was pretty good w Atari 2600 flippers but one day he kept getting the atari symbol over and over again i was like WTF how did you do that he said i cheat i said how he said just push the button fire button and move i was like oh yea cool and every time I would screw around so mutch i would always tilt then i would REALLLY screw w the nudge and figured out the bumpers hidden in each side drain then one always gave free ball cause it was the plunger tube but the other one if on right side would bounce back out I finnaly a couple of years ago figured out how to train my brain to figure the timing out to not drain I usually just tap I no longer HOLD till turn red untill it tilts but its so fun.. after tilt you can really play w drain tube bumpers witch let it if its on right side of left tube to bounce back.

its like in quake 1 if you have a grapple hook witch normal game does not come with only online mods had grapple hooks there is a quad damage pentagram star witch gives health points for 10 seconds in witch w out grapple hook you would never reach.

quake 1 has been replaces w quake2 online as to desensitize you to entitys once we ganged up on a online monster

on quake1 we had teamfotress so we could shoot each other w no damage I didnt understand that at 1st good thing i leaned DUH get back to reality there are differnt versions to a video game you dont make a video game an alt reality anyway after a couple of games and someone said same team im just visiting other team no unfreandly fire i was like oH its a truce game but frendly fire kills anyway they left frendly fire disabled so we were all on same team then we went to entity a big ugly two headed smaller monster bigger than us but not the huge one and we all ganged up on it and finnally killed it after that i was like HMM those monsters in quake are just bots and anti cheat disabled people from using dogs as bots now a dog thats subposed to be youre bot or one that has god mode cause some dogs in some maps were like that unless you blew it up w greanade or rocket it just kept rollling over and getting back up it would yelp then roll over play dead then roll again recompost its stance and growl after that i was desence atized to playing quake by my self w out scaring my self surround sound with DOOM or will scare the hell out of you my mom came in and starteled the hell out of me after that i couldnt play doom anymore cause the surround sound would scare me this was cause it was 4am and my mom stays up late painting water color and watching tv she is a night owl like me and i didnt expect her to check to see what i was doing but she came in and said what are you doing in a interesed voice i jumped almost had a heart attack my heart was racing I said you cared the shit out of me she said why dont you goto bed I said now after you starteled me it will take me longer.

after that i finnaly got surround back when i played quake1 w the right priced cd of BOSTON I wish there was still quake 1 matches online using the original maps cause if you put boston in instead of quake the cd tracks control witch map comes next thats why nine inch nails has no label they made there own records! volume in drive d has no label.

OH once i was futzing w a lottery printer my boss from convience store threw away and said HEY ADAM want that old lottery printer w the scroll the paper is to expensive and they suck anyway I said yes it was either serial or parralell i cant remember but i got it to work by cutting fax paper in band saw in half to make it fit! I was futzing w shareware version of quake now you remember you just cant get to level 2 or 3 playing game on shareware by youre self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you were in online game you could do it anyway but had to be playing a network game I finnaly GOT it I got it free cause i actually bought the $9.99 version the shareware was that some share ware is not free only FREEWARE is FREE!!! this blew my mind i got a full verison of quake for free at least the online version witch i didnt relalize the full version was for playing those maps your self I was still desinsitizeing my self from sutpid alt reality crocks now i know the only alt reality is TV.

anyway i was listing dir /v on lotto printer and got chineese or japaneese charators but along with those it printed hidden information like a directory called PHLEM I was like wtf and my freind who downloaded the whole quake 1 before they sent him the cd cause zomax hadnt even released quake1 yet it was so new the cd's werent even printed and so he got one of the 1st copies in the box I lost my box and my cd has a crack in it so it wont play I need to go on ebay and get a nother shareware cd to keep in my collection.

so if you play cd 1 on music cd not shareware or regular quake I guess my new quake 1 quake 2 and quake3 cd might work cause it has the nin cause its quake but i want the original burn . when you play using a nother cd the cd who has the cd playing the maps change based on the cd I guess I figured that out by mistake or just realized when every one else kept bitching why does it keep going to that same level i said witch boston track and someone else on the internet in multi game said brb then the map changed and i was able to play listning to my cd w out having to worry about witch track it was on but the phlem dir must have been the quake shareware dir where if you gave credit card info it had a copy of pak1.pak or quake.exe i cant remember what locked it but that cd was cool it was exacly like sonic cd rom where the cd track 0 was not audio on quake but on normal cd players track 0 comes up as nothing hmm now i want to burn a music cd w track 0 as a .cda wav

  12. I still dont know flipperless pinball rules and reg please tell me and have you seen any flipperless pinall machines

that was the only one i ever saw .

also just a note the new pinball machines dont just tilt on the hanging tilt anymore they give you 3 chances electronicly 1st but more in likely if you get the hanging tilt going it will short 3 times anyway but at least you get a FEEL of the nudge factor espeiclay near the drain by the electronic bumbers on either side of flippers the outer drains on either side have posts witch decide weather ball drains or goes back to flipper path whell some operators move this post to make it easyer not to drain and some make it harder to make it not drain wow that statement was like we dont need no education back to my point sometimes they move the post to make it easyer or to let you nudge it to keep it from draining this would be a slide the whole machine to the left or the right I dont do that I usually pick machine up if my back is in a good mood and slide it to TEST tilt then if it is to hard then i leave nudgeing out of game if it is a loose tilt then i will pull machine when playing from left to right this is only if i miss ball w fliper and its not a agressive move to damage machine its a normal nudge .

how many are in favor of a bumber beneith the drain or some bumper that lets you bounce ball back from cirtain death I personally dont like magnasave I want three rows of buttons 1st flipper 2nd magnasave buttons 3rd buttons magnasave disable witch lights a light on score like a decimal point we all know pinball score dont have decimals anyway it would indicate during gameplay weather you have magnasave SENCE enabled this is cause I KNOW magnasave senses where ball is like traffic light hall effect sensors do whell a magnasave coil is a coil and a coil is a coil is a coil and a hall effect coil/metal detector is a coil so what if its powerfull enough to be a magnasave coil I want the ability to disable power to the coil right before i use it or right after i use it so it cant engage disenglage throw ball then reingage to see how far ball is away from where it let go somehow the damn things know exactly where the ball is or how mutch and how th throw it if you hold it down through full cycle I am amazed by this even though i know how it works i always screw up and almost let it drain the ball just to watch it sence now if you could disable power from magnasave but leave sence on wouldnt that be cool to have machine still sence ball w out magnasave i guess you would hold mag save button on then push desence button above it and hold desence then let go of magnasave and unless you let go of nudge desence button it would not resnag ball I cant wait till someone has a electronic nudge meaning you could choose normal or elctro nudge magnasave hmm lets call it elector nudge .

also hall effect sence on a pinball machine could run a really cool DEMO MODE it could snag ball right to where it wanted it of course that machine would cost a fortune to build w all those demo magnasave coils.

whoooly crap i need nap again but i am going to force my self to play pinball this week.

Im going to make off topic fav pinball machine made between 2005 and now.

  13. damn i typed a whole lot of stuff and it got deleted cause cookes expired .

anyway i used to flash atari all the time

    http://www.eeggs.com/tree/563.html

pinball machines are subposed to be nudged our 1936 kennys clover pinball machine w nickel slot and 5 balls no flippers had a tilt and the only way you could get it to do what you wanted was to nudge it since it didnt have flippers the tilt prevented it from being jostled to mutch..

I hope u wernt pointing that at me i was talking about nudging pinball is part of playing.

I was refering to the fact that flipperless pinball had a TILT the tilt was inventet to be nudged. you know even on a new machine there is a tolerance for tilt the hanging tilt no longer insta tilts it electronicly gives you three shorts of the tilt before actually tilting so in a sence there is MORE LEWAY in the way a pinball machine tilts I dont know why someone would bitch about a pinball machine tilting unless they were half joking like i am just to spark cool conversations about pinball witch I love I always played the ATARI Hurculese pinball at the state fair even though it was expensive I probably would have just handed TODD a $20 just to play 4 games of huge pinball and a couple of mrs pacman credits but i just paid the the normal way . I did spend $2 dollar coins on golden tee golf this was the last year that sumit amuzement ran the arcade this sucked cause the next year the arcade was almost empty and there were no more outside on the SAND pinball machines in a tent witch to me was the greatest pinball machine experince of my youth to goto the state fair and play pinball with some of the best players around plus those machines were so old but they were cool .

I also am confuzed about youre question about how to play flipperless pinball I had one machine ok my dad had it it was called KENNYS CLOVER it was cool my dad got rid of it cause he thought i was going to electrocde my self whell i was merely waiting to find a place to get the cloth wire to fix it WHELL HE THREW THE WHOLE THING AWAY we kept the back glass I wanted the whole machine .

to bad now i know i could have gone to a LAMP REPAIR shop to get the wire needed to rewire every single wire in it hmm I think i need PIZZA AND A solder gun a vom and some masking tape cause i think im going to fix that pinball machine in hopkins I know the place to get the jumper wire i need..

oh YES LAST NIGHT AGAIN i was up almost all night at least i got 4 hours the night before 2 hours but today is the 3rd day so ill be back to normal again had to work till 4am saturday again last week and this week it made me HYPER.

  14. WOW YOU CANT READ CAN U

'''I went to digital press and got flashback II adventure{{{ before they took it offline}}} thats because i wanted to hack it so the dragon couldnt get me I did it now its boreing and if i want to play games on flashback I just play on my laptop no wires no mess and no interferance to tv! anyway I think digital press took the roms offline lame cause even if the roms werent avalible to download i liked the comments they had .. anyway good luck.'''

if you read the post you would have SEEN I SAID before they took them off line I did not leave a link.

    an http:// url.url

would have been a link i mearly was stating something I had done .

  15. Also i was thinking the exact same thing for my now broke super joy pad III nes joystick I couldnt get the built in 79000 in one to work and pried it off the board thinking I could resolder it to the 72 in one cart replacing the 72 in one w the 79000 in one one built into the joystick but once i ripped it out the whole joystick stopped working so i guess it was more that a cart chip but it looked exactly like the flashback II memmory chip I dont know weather the 72 in one fake famicom cart still works or not cause the super games joystick now dosnt do squat but I do still have a game station looks like a ps1 but is not its a crappy nes famicom fake machine it does still work w the 19 in one cart it came with witch worked on the super joy before i blew it up but the 72 in one cart wont work on it I bet its still good so if i ever get a famicom to nes addaptor mabie ill try it on my nintendo to see if it works . also the 19 in one cart used to be a 9,999,999 in one cart untill i found a juper and made it correctly say 19 in one instead of 9,999,999 in one SO now im on the hunt for a super joy III fake famicom to see if my 72 in one cart still works the good thing is i only spent $5 ON IT AND STILL have the 72 in one cart the 2nd player joystick and the gun and the power pack and the 72 in one cart so it wasnt a total loss .. also i have the 9 pin extention cables i got at the hamfest witch still are compatible 100% with atari paddles and joysticks... one is a 6 foot and the other one is a 9 foot for 2nd player now i can actually sit on the couch and play atari UNtill i have to get up to push the reset button ..

I did however think the same exact thing as you did why not somehow hook that blob chip to the atari cart backwards I thought the exact same thing untill i read about curt vendals explanation of how the system worked and figured it would be eyser to I went to digital press and got flashback II adventure before the took it offline thats because i wanted to hack it so the dragon couldnt get me I did it now its boreing and if i want to play games on flashback I just play on my laptop no wires no mess and no interferance to tv! anyway I think digital press took the roms offline lame cause even if the roms werent avalible to download i liked the comments they had .. anyway good luck.

  16. I couldn't figure out exactly what a F6SC was. Searched the forums, all I found were mentions of settings in Stella used to make W.I.P. homebrews work. I dug around the AtariAge store also, thinking F6SC would be the name of one of the PCBs they sell? Nothing there.

F6 refers to the bank switching method on the 2600 where the hotspots are at $1FF6/$1FF7/$1FF8/$1FF9 which selects what 4K ROM bank to use. Th SC refers to the Super-Chip Atari put into some of it's cartridges, which adds another 128bytes of RAM into the address space (I believe it is mapped at $1000).

    --Selgus

is there a specail address you have to burn atari games to using a 1980's eeprom burner???

every time i try to burn one i get the same asteroids game i copyied once even though i thought i erased it it start for 4 seconds then stops or just doesnt work I was trying to keep asteroids running on a bootleg copy i burned a year ago but forgot how i did it now i wanted to put flashback II adventure on a cart I found it on a download site and hacked it now it wont burn to cart I bought online . mabie i dont know what address to burn to..

I would bet though that making a homebrew cart or multiple carts of youre flashback II games you want would solve youre problem or you could just use a super charger and a soundblaster or you could even use a mp3 player since its just audio.

but that would be esyer to do than trying to reverse engineer a nes on a chip that loads a atari game from a nes menu then runs a atari emulation program to run rom it would just be easer to burn youre own flashbackk II multi cart .

  17. damn i typed a whole lot of stuff and it got deleted cause cookes expired .

there were two tilts one hanging one witch we disabled and a nother w a ball that rolled up to hit tilt .

dkong could be chomped w a straw thats what probably was jammed in that bowling alley.

atari 400/800 dkong you could walk to edge of girder on 1st level and jump off and bounce back in.

on rivit level all dkong versions even 2600 version and all other ones I havent tried on nintendo .

but most even arcade dkong you can walk from right to left not crossing rivit and go back and steal girder..

atari800/400 pathfinder you can make pattern like this

    ------------------------/_____________________

    -----------------------/_____________________

and where the / is go the opposite angle and break out of boarder wall and see memmory in action its cool.

on some pinball machines BALLY like mr and mrs packman pinball and some eightball deluxe you could bend plunger into right flipper switch leaf switch causeing a spark witch would produce credits..

and on eight ball deluxe you coud push start button exactly to the same sound as match and sometimes 70% of the time make a match even if it wouldnt match it woud produce a credit. I think this screwed with the proccess of the match confusing the cpu.. giving false match., although you would never know because you matched! and started game witch starts game.

on g 13 on missile command atari 2600 you get an rf if you dont get points to show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Fulop

    programmer.

on frogger 2600 you can turn on and off dificulty switches and you wont die going threw wall but if you turn it on you hear a crack between wall.

here is easter egg for 20 reunion mspac galaga

The "start" screen will display, allowing you to choose Ms. Pac-Man or Galaga. ... UP, UP, UP; DOWN, DOWN, DOWN; LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT ... Press either 1 player or 2 player Ms. Pac-Man button to play regular Pac-Man

also if you watch galaga demo on any galaga and shoot down tracktor beam bee you can shoot all bees down..

  18. Wow, I forgot about slugs, I used to go buy light fixtures from the local hardware store for $1, and it would have about 8 slugs on it, which were apparently the exact proper size of a quarter,so you got $2 in slugs (of course, inflation happened, and ended that, but still, and I still got to sell the boxes to junk dealers for about a quarter or so so :P )

As for bumping a Pinball machine, I'm pretty sure that was NOT intended...at least, not in the original machines, heck, some of the older ones didn't even have tilt mechanisms or they were added to them later. And I haven't really seen to many machines that didn't have a big sticker somewhere warning about the tilt. In fact, most of the machines I see out and out say that is cheating on the same lable (of course, in an arcade, often the lable is covered up as it is useually on the side, between two machines so who sees it anyways?)

The reason the "tilt" was added, was in fact, because people were bumping the machines, and as that wasn't intended, the earlier machines were easier to knock over and damage, and it happened regularly enough, that those devices have become an everyday part of life these days. But like Steroids in baseball, it's not right, accepted, or necessary, in fact, it's not an intended part of the game.

Personally, I've never seen a Pinball machine I couldn't master givven a few days, in fact, most of the ones around here, I play till I get bored, or the store owner runse me out (apparently people thinkyour breaking it when it lets off that loud crack, which I tend to make them do quiet regularly) all without bumping. To me, haveing to bump/jimmy or whatever the machine isn't a play mechanic, it's s display of your lack of skill as a gamer (just like useing gameshark on a modern game to make the games easier than they already are)

  19. Speaking of bootlegs in controllers, I remember that during Christmas time, Walgreens around here(NJ) were advertising these items in their circulars and in the stores. It's funny that a national chain would take a risk like that since it is illegal.

Wow. That's by far the highest-profile I've heard yet for these things. I was surprised just to see them being sold by the

sheister vendors at major shopping malls. Now they're at Walgreens? What's next, Sears?

Yeah, it was a limited thing. The fuckers wanted 29 bucks for it and they claimed that it played all NES carts or as they said:

"Dust off your old carts and play"

It wasn't a controller per se, it looked like a Genesis 3 but had 1000 built in Nintendo games(of course with a modded title screen)

Last weekend i went to the HAMVENTION in ohio and saw a joystick box that looked exactly like that and it was but i got a DEAL I said how mutch is that and the guy said make offer so i said $5 and he bit I got the whole box witch i threw away to save room for luggage it has the power pack the cart the 2nd controler and a GUN too also the cart i got was a lucky find unlike the other crappy ps1 looking fake famicom this witch had a 9,999,999 in one cart that when i removed jumper found it really only had 19 games w a lot of them repeted at least w jumper removed it only shows the ones it actually has!! but the new green joystick i just got this weekend had a 72 in one cart this one actually has 72 games!!!!! the super mario game is not even close to mario supermario it says frogger but is a frog walking like super mario and you shoot chineese music symbols at other enymys and it has galaxian galaga real games and lots of other ones it has some stupid track and feild start points but not to many it is actully fun to play sometimes the cartridge gets loose and it locks up but i still like the 72 in one cart ALso I didnt try the other controlers from the crappy 1st bootleg system i got but will do that later now i need a 72 to 60 connector conveter also the joystick broke off the joystick in baggage from trip but that joystick sucked anyways . I still think for only $5 i got a deal espically on the 72 in one cart so if yo usee a 72 in one cart remember 79,000 in one is not tha same as 72 in one.

  20. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15524

They make them already, and I really don't know if it would be worth the hassle to save a few bucks on parts.

That's just me though. I like tackling things, but eh, this might be one of those where its best to just buy them.

It doesn't get much cheaper than that.

I would just get one of these I already have one!!! they say they only go 1024x768 but thats a LIE they actually go 2048x1536 any hz on the TV they send the tv a 53Hz signal but work in dos windows and any mode sometimes it takes a couple of seconds for it to adjust to mode but it works I always use the usb to power it! now you probably couldnt read more than 800x600 or 1152x864 on youre tv anyway and of course 640x480 works great I paid like $79 for mine wanting to make a mame cabinet out of a arcade space invaders cabinet but then deciding to rip the color tv out and put the space invaders cocktail cabinet back to gether and restore it to original now i still have the scanbox for somereason the external ones work better than the internal ones! SO I SUGGEST not getting the internal ones but this exact one! I use it to play unreal tournament(torment) on my tv I put windows in 1152x864 and it works great you donot need any software for this one

and the price was decent here is a amazon link

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00...p;condition=new

so instead of settling for a crappy 640x480 or 1024x768 one that takes a irq or trying to make one just get one of these they also can hook to the keyboard input but i strongly suggest using the usb one I already stepped on mine and broke the keybaord connector once on a motherboard but the usb one just flys out and doesnt cause damage.. for the price they are defeinantly worth it only once and a while you will see a kind of split in the screen no more than 1 half a centimeter go up across screen this i think is the box catching up w video it only does it once and a while when playing unreal tournament it never locks up though and its a rare occasion also one thing i like to do w it is use it for TV viewing I can push the zoom button on the tvview and then put a tv tuner window in the right corner of windows and zoom the letterbox out of the way! then zoom the tv box and postistion the zoom window so the letterbox is in the overscan area so you cant even see it! this makes the tv look normal size also you can do this with power dvd and make a dvd not keep aspect ratio then make window bigger than tvview window making letterbox look full screen this is where the chop line appeirs it dosent actually lose any information it just skews it to the left 1/8 inch then it goes up the screen and it catches up its still rare and i never notice it in full screen I have had mine for more than 4 years and love it its starting to show signs of ware the cords are not grey but turning brown and are not see threw anymore and one orange wire came off inside the vga connector but seems to be nothing important since it still works.. the only other noticable thing you might not like is when you connect youre computer monitor to it the computer monitor goes a little fuzzy and dimmer but when you remove device it goes back to normal.

also if you do get one remember to note the HZ mode youre computer monitor is in cause mine cant do some of the modes like

640x480 200HZ my computer monitor shuts off but the tv stays on!!! this is because the HZ in the tvview device is always at the 53Hz composite output level and never goes to 200Hz the video card does but this just converts it to composite ALSO IT does have svideo out too!!! SO IF I WAS you i would just pick up one of these devices you will be so mutch happy...

I have had years of enjoyment with mine and still like it... I hope this helps ..

ps just to let you know it does any mode from dos modes all the way to 2048x1536 I havent found a mode it wont do so i would think it would do that mode youre laptop does probably in more Hz than it can even do mabie even bigger modes!!!.

as my laptop is in 1400x1050 32bit and it does that mode just fine i never tried the mode you use but I bet it would do that mode i see no reason it wouldnt do it.

  21. I'm on about Home Pong, and I dunno about you, but the version I've played is B&W, the Home Pong I own was the first model, releaced in 1975.

Yes, the Sears Tele-games model which was OEM'd by Atari. That's a color console. Maybe you just happened to play it on a b&w tv.

whell i thought that original pong not super pong sears or not i thought that super pong had the 4 game selector switch

and original Atari pong and super pong has a color bursting crystal it dOES NOT DO COLOR JUST MAKES IT RAINBOW COLORED!!! NOT A BIG DEAL . thats why i used the orange monitor look here

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...659&hl=pong

I still think its cool were still talking about pong in witch we shouuld be talking about pong256k

  23. Gee, they keep putting out new sticks but the same games in a different combo.

And it seems like they never give you every pacman variant/decedent on one stick :(

    why didnt Namco make

''Pac & Pal / Pacman & Chomp Chomp''

instead of just Pac & Pal.. and why did they speed up the Rally x game and didnt just put both 1 and 2 in it they dont need a licence to steal Midway's versions of there games since they own the code anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..

  24. *sigh* Will Namco release any OTHER games on a dedicated stick and not just Pac Man, etc over and over again? There is way too much overlap on these dedicated consoles.

Yeah, whats the deal? Namco acts as if it only released 10 or so games with the way they produce plug-n-plays. Maybe if they made a joystick with games other than the ones they've already released atleast 3 times already they would get some new sales.

I wish i would have used that avatar!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment, and the bump to this thread. Twins really need to get playing some better ball... but thats a whole other forum.

So it looks like there isn't gonna be a new Namco 6 Plug-N-Play this year then? I thought the game-key they had to unlock other games on your joypad was a solid idea, but they stopped that project years ago with sadly no game-keys released for the most part. Wonder if going that venture would have proven to be too expensive for them or what the deal was?

Did you see the other day when cuddyer almost hit the SUBWAY sign banner!!!!

  25. Then you're thinking of the 3rd edition Pac-Man game shown here, that's been out for two years.

    http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/...es/236#more-236

I found this variant of the 4th edition stick however, but I've not seen it for sale --

    http://www.searchamateur.com/pictures/pac-...d-tv-game-1.jpg

oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh COOL that fire button looks and is exactly same size as arcade and its setup like Atari joy so its easy to use that looks cool w the ghosts too!!!! ...

    you got a keeper there.
