  1. wow i was going to post a long rant and decided not to LOL 1st I dont know if i like emulated machines I like the flashback 2 cause it seems to sound real and the game play is exact exept the yars revenge does not work and i wonder if the game rom it self was bank switched lol and the flashback cant play it cause it locks up during play I think its because the game was written to show the actuall game code on the screen as colors but it cant since the thing is a different animal now if you wanted to make a Real atari 2600 retro device you would just take the original schamatics and the original chips and resitor per resitor including the 740t 5v regulator and that big cap and those 4 diodes and using the three original chips the 2600 had and a smaller footprint pcb then just licence the built in cart from flashback to put it on a blob on the pcb then switch the a10 line or pin 6 i cant remember the mod was so long ago on the flashback II anyway then using the original chips on a 2600 but make the board smaller and possibly those chips smaller you could make a real atari 2600 exactly the same but smaller pcb and smaller chips mabie one to to the work of all 3 using cad then just bank switch roms on a concatinated 1g stick or something like what they already have but exept the rom lines going into the 2600 would be going into a real 2600 not a emulation machine meaning game play would be exactly the same the only thing is you would have to change the RF mod section to compoisite video witch is why I like the flashback II with the cart mod now the crockrocks.bin game is actually on a weird chip cart i got from someone here on atariage cant remember and cant say anwyay but its a 27512 chip with 8k on it I for the life of me cant remember how i got it on the eeprom burner i can copy it with the super old eeprom burner at my dads house the 8 gang one will copy 8 chips from a master its awesome now the other eeprom burner can to cool things since i have the manual and can understand its menu i can change from say a 2732 to a 2532 to play real pac-man midway roms fast or cheat roms on real coin op pcb no checksum it dont care only mame cares about that .. now if you know the memory sticks chips on the flashback 4 please let me know if i can remove said chip and put it into a usb stick in place of the chip on the usb stick then change contence or is there a nother chip that aranges the 1's and zeros on the other chip and my idea wont work on the usb stick cause whell i understand but still want to know if its still shoving the a10 line and the other lines the original 2600 flashback II wanted cause if so you could still make a cart slot it would be way harder but if it worked i see no reason not to beable to do it that way .. this is the reason my original space invaders cabinet locks up the roms come loose rom there 3 socket mod to make a 2716 chip run in a tms2716 configuration using those 3 sockets makes them lose and its always reading rom info constantly I think the atari 2600 does that too otherwise you would not beable to change from my asteroid hack homebrew hackomatic III hack my rocks look like ® and (aw) for my name but if i start flashback II with built in asteroids vector type then swap to turn on cart if you use the double pole double throw switch correctly like a train reverse switch gnd in middle and turn one jumper on and the other off or that other one on and the other one off for each state the rocks if built in asteroids was started 1st then switch to external one wait for © page to load then swap back to built in game the only thing that changes on asteroids is the shape of the rocks witch is the only thing differnt...... this is WHy i was wondering about the nes on chip menu type thing is that just in the cart rom selection menu to PICK youre game from the china gui selection menu then once u pick a game does it send the a lines a10 line to the rom hole for the 2600 like the flashback II did or is it a completly differnt animal if so is there a line on the memory chip that changes so if you piggie backed a nother chip on top with other roms but with same names like you do to a nintendo player choice board would it load if you swapped the a10 line and does those new memory chips even have a equated a10 line? .. Also are the paddles 1meg ohm like the coloeco ones I got at axeman surplus and repaired my Atari ones witch now wont geek and have new grease and are tight and gitter free.... also last question the plug play paddle 1 player i found jumper for 2 player and added my own paddles and wondered why that was 500k or not 1meg ohm either do u think it was a $ issue... I know the law is the law but is that a SD slot on that u tube but not stuffed and if you stuff it with the slot and missing caps and resistors will it work?.... is there any prototype pcbs u used to protype we could learn about cause its more about learning about those memory sticks im interested than the actuall sd slot on the flashback 4 cause if i want to change roms i can swap a 2732 chip and use the usb willaim burner usb one to send .bin now the old eeprom burner i think u have to change from bin2hex.exe then send hex to the old eprom burner then once its in there it burns a .bin file to the chip but if you read it back its .hex the thing is i can always find the power pins and unhook from the usb burner and bend up and then connect to the correct power pins I did this to the tms2716 chips I also even read a REAL Midway Space invaders general instraments 9316 chip LOL hmm i bet i could have read a sattalite chip now that i know back to atari the 9316 chip needed nothing more than power in the right spots not hooked to the eeprom burner wrong then the a10 line i read it as a 2716 LOL and downloaded the rom then played it on space invaders in mame it worked... ok then i tried to see if the hack hackem pesco pacman hack would run on the flashback II it does using the bank switch 2764 long chip the board i got from albert Witch was Blank when i ereased what he sent me the cart with as not to get him in trouble I shreded the lable and ereased the chip but the cart pcb is cool it uses a pal chip to bank switch and works with hackem on the flashback so I dont know if its the cart or the bank switch keeping pitfall II off the flashback II I would think if you could figure out the bank switching it might work I could always drive to activision and ask but I dont work currier anymore so I would be very doubtfull i would do that lol .. I do how ever wonder if yars revenge the mod one on the flashback 4 would play or would the original one since it displayes the code on the screen it might not work if the machine was not wired the same because the memory address would have to be exactly the same as the original 2600 so in a sence the programmers of yars revenge copy proofed the game by the hardware arcitecture of the 2600 and knew we would try to emulate it on a plug play and probably figure HA it wont work on any other machine i wonder if they did that if they did and you know the person who programmed yars revenge did you predict plug play crap machines running atari roms or is it just coincidentlal and just happend that way. ok last questions lol .. is there a sequence you can input using the infra red joysticks to allow infra red programming to the SD slot thats not there I think this is what you would have to do to get into the menu to get games into the thing you would have to hold a sequence of buttons on the wireless joysticks to get into the SD mode and would have to synk with windows or just use the sd card would not that be cool if you could use the infra red joysticks to send data that would be a hack in it self you could do all sorts of arduino projects using the infra red and also the joysticks could be used for more than the flashback4 too since they just transmit codes you could make a reader .. now like the original 2600 there is 2 joystick ports and the wireless at same time so i assume they would both fight each other and the wired ones would override the wireless? and can u have 4 paddle breakout Good luck getting the 4 freinds over at the SAME time lol party mode high score contest .. on the 800 super break out lets you have 8 players cause 4 ports 8 paddles 4 sets w 2 paddles per paddle .. now when you put 1 9 7 2 code does it bring up paddle menu or are paddles included? or are paddles still in ? mode as i already see flashback 4 on ebay i was wondering if basic fun had anything to do with it or is that just the keychain ones.... ? thanks for reading a nother of my 333 to 606 am rants LOL sincerly awace Adam Weisbrod .. PS I DONT WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE... by my bitchy bitching i just needed to vent I love that there is a nother flashback and more games means more FUN and if youre getting some $ then even if its made in chine who cares if a american is getting $ from it then im going to buy one from wallmart and SHIP you the warenty card have u sign the warenty card and then Ill be happy lol..
  2. if i remember the modem string is at &fe0x1 this might make the atari work on modem w out hanging up.
  3. if you have a sticker keybaord you woud part with let me know..
  4. Last year I did purchase a 2600daptor Also I have a lot of carts I got off ebay Had this big plan to sell pacman and asteroid carts on ebay but then when i see them neatly stacked inside the blue rubber maid roughneck bin all neat and together witht the other carts I get senitmental and keep them lol. I did get some a 400's and got one working w 32K and almost good keybaord super small defect on D button just dented still works.. other a 400 has nother dent in d button but that works too normal 16k and the other one works but no keyboard... Both have new rf mods from the best ones of the rf mods in the 32k one and the other one is in my a800 so they now all have very good RF mods ... ALSO the Atari 2600 I have is the one i got in parts off ebay now has a flashback II with cart mod as b/w mode makes built in carts and color mode makes carts work then the ch3/ch4 switch now does the b/w mode since the flahsback II (2) has composite and sound out I used the ch3/ch4 switch for the black and white/ color switch.. I also scrapped all the cart wires off the pcb foil and soldered them all the the mod on the flahsback II I also rewired the b/w switch to have double pole double throw on each line so it worked to have the one jumper shorted wilst the other is open and in the other postition the 1st jumper os open and the other is closed so there both opposite connected to the switch .. and I saved the dioed and capacitor and the 740t or 7805 voltage regulator and used the 5v+ on the cap to supply the flahsback II so when you want to change carts you turn off unplug power pack then turn back on to kill cap then back off then insert power pack w power switch OFF then insert cart turn to built in games select a game the swithch insert cart should already be in befor epower LOL then switch to cart from started built in game .. I also have emulation on xp x64 bit I cant get 512x384 on my vizio but i can live w that .. I also have the puniter pc104 boot into ape and connected to a800 in room and have all my original atari disks on a dir i can load in atari dos 2 as H1: is directory of harddrive dir cause ape lets it do it. also i use telnet://thunderdome.homeip.net:471 remember to have firefox do this.. you all have fido mail from 1980 lol
  5. That happens all the time I try to explain something about car problems to my dad and he scoffes it off untill I SHOW him what the problem is then we fix it to gether or he goes online and explaines its way more complicated than it seemed . I always check for loose cart slots sometimes on my Arcade space invaders Cabinet i would check the board connector witch is a super huge cart slot for the audio board whell finnaly due to a actuall breakage on the other board side the finger board pin came off the (-) 5v line I was like yea because this is what was wrong it was comeing lose all the time making it reboot and act up all the time so i soldered it closer in to a nother hole thru but still reflowed the fingers on the pcb anyway with solder as in 1979 the only people who were gold plating finger boards were Atari LOL Also those GI General Instruments silver pins suck they break off all the time and corode.. most of the time you can pull up a super small amount and get an atari Cart even if its ram or rom to reconnect good.. PS .. Before my freind said you can jump in high caves with Pitfall II and catch a ballon witch comes after two bat passes and I did not know this and one day I was playing the 800 with a drywall screw in side it so the door could be open and i could unplug the cart leaving the left side on the pcb in but the right side slightly higher and then if i set it up correctly i could push on the cart making chunks and you could walk threw some walls then it would of course screw up the music untill you died of course and fixing it self but sometimes it would swim in places you cant swim lol also the music screws up the same every time and you cant get past the muskrat even if you use save states in emulation but i managed to open up level II a whole nother game inside the 1st game if you get all dudes and the diamond you can will open up a portal door to level II .. I just the other day noticed a ddr sitck of memory was making chunks on the screen for example virus looking ☺ smiley faces and coloered ansi graphics on the 1st boot screen and i was like hmm this memory stick seems lame I wiggled it and viola the chunks chagned then completly locked up reminds me of REV D atari Rom operating system after we exchanged An atari for a bad rf modulator they updated the 10k rom operating system to differnt version on 400... I took the DDR memory stick and used a green 3m scrubbie dish scrubbie on it and then blew it off removing the green chunks and viola it worked w out showing those chunks.. Also You might notice if you play PATHFINDER and do this ___________ go here \ ___________ _________ _________ \ then opposite so you end up inside the filled boxes you have to do opposite angle movements left down right up then left up right down total exact angle only opposite you need a 8 way joystick or normal atari joystick but slick sticks work the best for this then once you end up inside the blocks go out side the border of the game wall......!!!!!!!!!!! then you can go up allong the ones you fire to solid then once you go up keep going up w out touching anything exeprt for energy ones you can also get fire hydrent refills but why .. then keep going up or down and you will actually SEE the internal Atari memory working you can not touch this as instant death but you can watch the page frame video move and the memory move around as graphics its really cool to actually see the memory in action .... I have yet to get the atari 400 memory upgrade but do have the xp sp1 on a pc104 mini single board computer w ape and ape cable and ape shareware witch loads up to the atari ... I also fixed the tape recorder program recorder this was not easy nor fun as I only out of 3 1/2 units have one that works to rewind and fast forward also there is more than one spring to deal with on the take up wheel and there are more than one belt to replace also I needed to short the audio to the data on the head wilst adjusting the head azimuth but this was easy using music lynard skynard made alignment easy ... I also noticed if you leave frogger run all night long on xp or xp x64 bit it locks up if you dont use 320x200 mode.... also some of the new german party .atr files will amazingly load onto the atari800 witch is awesome .. I can if i get time take pictures of the schmatics from DE rE atari and the other internal Atari stuff my dad and his freind used to program emulation of disc drives using cpm loader ... my favourite thing to do now is burn 2732's with 8k atari 2600 roms i used hackomatic II to change graphics in ...
  6. The A10 line is the line switched in the flashback to the Real carts One time I actually Read a 9316 Spaceinvaders rom witch i thought was encrypted chip but once i had the correct voltages on the correct pins all i had to do is not connect the voltage pins to the eeprom burner and connect the voltages to external power supply then viola connect the a10 line to the a10 line on a 2716 configuration on eeprom burner and viola it read it they just switched around the pins and used differnt voltages back then Sattalite TV and cable boxes was General Instraments claim to fame but since i had done that the flashback to me was cool trying to get my own homebrew hackomatic iii carts to read was cool to I learned a 2732 makes a 8k atari rom.. Have Fun and Once i get a Harmnoy cart I will let you know Cause Ill probalbly need that FT232R Driver and info on it lol.
  7. Whell I think the problem is like my flashback Mod the capacitor keep that charge from the power pack so it dont spark when unplugging the power pack as my flashback I hooked to the output of the 7805 and the cap for the 5v output from the power switch This causes it to be charged .. **************************************THE SIMPLE WAY TO DISCHARGE the 5v cap in Atari2600************************* turn atari off unplug phono plug power pack plug connector from back of atari (the power going into the atari) turn off atari plug power back into atari w power switch OFF then unplug power pack phono plug power from atari turn on then back off then you can remove carts or insert carts then leaving power switch off plug power pack back into atari then turn on .. this is the proper way to keep a CART from flashing it self to death. *****************************************************************************************************************************************
  8. I it looks just Fine to me as its 4 bit graphics and on a machine thats 34 years old so it looks great and I think you should leave it alone as I am already used to it now! :
  9. like i said in previuos post you have to have the exact version for the version mame32 or mame youre running let me know pm me and i can run you threw my mame versions i have and the ones you have me know.. I probably can get you running again.
  10. sometimes if it says all files are missing for example it says a dkong file is missing or what not.. I have fixed rallyx this way I have a version that works with mame32 old version 029 but u have to unzip all rallyx files and when mame comes up with its error you push shift alt print screen and capture the error and write down the filename.??? they show as error not found then once you unzip rallyx.zip if this is the file w the load error then onc uzipped you change filename by filename to the ones its looking for as you notice sometimes the file wont have a . but sometimes it does so if it goes like mrdo says file 1.bin 2.bin up to say 9.bin missing then you unzip mrdo.zip and you see 1.c or just 1 or a nother file with a 1 in it and so on you just rename it to 1.bin to 9.bin 0.bin and viola it loads cause its filenames its looking for work now.. message me and i can explane mame32 i have lots of versions if you want some. let me know. I have roms but those are not avalible i can however tell you what the filenames unzipped are if you need one i also have a working set of dkong i have concatinated using winzip to have both the dkong game roms and the sound samples in the same dkong.zip file you u can put dkong.zip in the source directory samples and in the roms dir too same file has both soundsamples and roms in it works good so mabie thats the source youre taking about.. also be shure to uncheck show game disclaimer or warnings.. no most galaga roms will come up with some damn error warning message just ignore this and push left right on input.. good luck.. mame can be addictave
  11. the source is where its from the binary is like linux version or uncompiled version.. just get the mame32 versions and also source could be where you find the directory of the rom witch if unzipped its binary file like a 2600 emulation rom the real rom for example MR DO is a .bin file it dont have to be saved to the real chips in .bin you can name it anything you want cause when you save it back to windows machine or dos or linux it can be called anyname.bin but you dont have to name it .bin but it is a .bin file the source is in the description of the version they are compiling in machine language to make the mame32.exe file from as a uncompiled version of mame when youre downloading they have lots of olderversion avalible as source versions in binary as a file not compiled yet i would just stick with windows32.exe versions or .deb ubuntu or puppy linux versions.
  12. i have lots versions of mame if you message me ill explane i have 4 or 5 differnt ones and they all are spicific for differnt games for instance older ones work with asteroids atari new ones work w centipede and other ones work with gtgolf.zip and other one works with 20galpac pacma/galaga reunion and mose mames are updated to not work w out bitching about game info or warnigns I have 067 version and /130 version cause the differtnt versions do differt things with differnt versions of romsets i also have another version i use with dkong that lets you use cheats and works w ckong as i have a real ckong pcb.. there are also space invaders like super earth invasion with i had running on real arcade space invaders midway hardware and have deluxe running now and have original space invaders too but have a shortage of old 2716 chips.. using a 3 level socket system conversion sockets for using 2716's in tms2716 mode.... also my data east cabinet has ckong and 13 inch slot machine screen and sit down too I also have BKING II for that same cabinet witch is in side it now! have jamma harness now..wow 54 wires twice to solder 4 times including the finger boards to the pcbs to the jamma harness side of the finger board and the jamma plug on Data East cabinet .. just went over my space invaders cabinet again two weeks ago it had a bad connection some where i had to solder almost all connections exept the joystick buttons connections i have soldered all connections power and the right side duaghterboard sound board connections have all been soldered now to cause less reboots .. I also have a 386 at power supply 5v 5v 12v 12v -5v last three on right side are gnd gnd composite out the left side is 5v 5v 12v 12v -5v then the top of the sound board also have been soldered I have thrown out the original power supply and mounted the 386 power supply inside the place where the power supply went removed the fuse for the huge transformer and took the fuse out for the lights too no fuses in the fuse block just the one on the screen so the big transformer wont take electricty also I have had the braze kit witch is cool but if i get that again im going to just solder it to the socket..
  13. I have a extra 20 inch memorex tv i dont use but it has a hidden remote control mode using a hidden button I snipped unused rubber button from other function not used like stereo and used it for the button .. I also have a 19 inch rca flat screen 16:9 digital tube tv with new reciver decoder digital tuner in it and on ps3 it goes 16:9 composite also it has small speaker .. i like sonys my freind got a 22 or 21 inch sony tv when we did flyers this summer for free in free pile i was jellous intill i had to carry it and it was heavy i said no way to heavy to move
  14. I would probably keep the atari800 as i am trying to get a serial modem working with it now. also i have lots of games dkong pacman missile command space inveders and montazumas revenge and miner 2049er and also some other games.. I also just dont throw anything away I had borrowed my nes 8bit to my freind but got it back it has gama genie and smb1 gazuag szlivo AAEEZGPA SUPER MARIO 2 SUPER MOON JUMPS AND also has gun and dizzy 4 pak cart from galoob . I also have arcade space invaders sit down cabinet and a sit down data east cabinet got empty now has ckong board in it now.. I also have a p III with happauge tv tuner a dual core amd running for ape cable in my room and a core duo on my big machine I have a 13 inch monitor for atari800 and also use the tv in my room and use the atari800 on desk and put my windows keybaord ontop of the atari800 cart door and use ape cable . I also have a pong unit i got for $2 at good will I got a nother for $4 and left that orginal exept for bat holder i changed to new one.. the $2 pong unit i gutted and put inside a square target funiture box and put a plexiglass front on it with 9 inch orange composite monitor on it and also used vinyl sticker on front where the screen is not as big as hole so you see black then orange screen inside the plexiglass its cool and on the back I have no coin door just coin slot so you have to remove the plexiglass to get inside the box to get quarters it actually takes quarters and for a small second when the quarter hits the microswitch it normally closed opens the connection for a small time when the quarter goes in it unhooks it start button for a second as the start button needs to be only unhooked for a second to restart.. as its normaly closed as other start buttons are usually normally open.. I have extention rf cables from 2600's as paddle jacks and use paddles i got as surplus store witch use rca plugs to connect them they are 1meg ohm like atari paddles and i have used up 1/2 the barrol of the paddles they have at Axeman surplus store and have replaced pots in atari paddles and they work great now i have even used the grease in the new paddles in old ones and they wont geek now my paddles are now stable I also would not ever get rid of my 2600 either nor the flashback modded to take carts I also have about 6 or seven blue rubbermaid tubs some larger than other ones but mostly atari carts joysticks paddles and then 2 of them are just filled with atari800 related books de re atari internal atari schmatics information galore full atari 800 library 1st second book of atari assembler editor checkers listings atari400 schmatics atari800 schamtics full all 2 bins are super heavy then the other one has carts two layers high 2600 carts and the supercharger (modded to use wav files from stella gets a brain ) wav files or regular tapes witch i used once worked w panasonic tape recorder.... also have two working atari 410 cassette recorders program recorders now have new sink washer diverter rubber idelrs and take up reel spring have been nipped off w snipers to make them not as long and they rewind and fast forward and are stored with play and pause engaged to not have damage to idlers.. I also have 2 atari400's one over heats the one with the 32k and the other one works I have to switch the pcb boards and the 32k module and make the 32k one w the best keyboard have the 32k and the power baord from the non 32k one so just switch keyboards and 32k module w 16k at least the 32k module is plug play. I have a nother 32k module in my 800 working too but that over heats a lot so i am using 3 16k ones again.. I also have a 3 inch black and white tv see threw with buillt in keychain and zenith cable box rf mod and keychain paddle games...
  15. you have to take the cover off unplug for 5 days then get a long philips screwdriver then remove back cover then on the neck board there should be 4 wires and the neck pcb disregard these wires unless using screen for arcade space invaders also ignore the big sucktion cup wire unless you have winter gloves and a jumper cable to chicken stick the tube so you wont get zapped oh yea yeah all youre doing is convergence of the purity rings fridge magnets with knobs on them on the neck board.. if you flip the 4 wires on yoke coil the picture flips over like player two on space invaders.. now if you want to converge just ignore what i said about using as arcade screen and remember this warning once you get it right leave it alone if you dont leave the purity rings alone then just start over using the squares test pattern then get all the purity rings lose by adjusting the losener then get so you can still adjust them then start all aligned to knobs in same place purity rings then hold the 4rth one 1st one in place and move the other ones then all at same time leaving the 1st one to move the other 3 at the same time then start from there you have to move the 1st two sets together but not together w the other two move those outer ones at the same time away different direction than the 1st two then try every possible thing to get it the way you like it will be like 4 times then you will get good at knowing what is converged then also turn the contrast down enjoy try not to make it a habit of adjusting the purity rings but it can be fun because there also is a adjustment on flyback transformer focus and drive screen donot turn screen till you see the overscan lines turn it way down then focus if it hisses turn the contrast down .. good luck with youre tv's also if you need transistors use high speed switch ones
  16. whell the power supply has to come out and be external 1st off 2nd the square smaller chips need heatsink and fans ! then you can remove the copper and recycle it...I am glad i dont have one of those Ok i would love one of those but it would over heat at my house if i left it on but I do like that detailed picture... you should be fine w out fans unless you can burn youre finger on a chip its time to put a vga cooler on it!. have fun and remember NICE pictures... I tried to got onto telnet://thunderdome.homeip.ne using atari simulatort once
  17. ok at 2400 atari terminal simulator at 2400 bps
  18. cant Ask Steve JOBS to use APPLE emulation on the IPAD! may he REST in peace I loved Apple CATALOG LOAD RUN
