    Just go get a old remote control for a TV and snip one off!!! its the rubber thingie its just not CUT TO SIZE also windex it 1st so the cat wont eat it when installing it as windex makes cats run just point bottle at cat\

    DONOT SPRAY CAT With wINDEX thanks its pretty easy to steal one of those rubber contact things from a old remote control..

    hmm on my modded one when you flash between hombew cart external cart of asteroid(crockrocks) and MISSILE COMMAND or switch between real missile command and flashback one it screws up missile command and plays weird the smartbombs keep comming LOUDER AND LOUDER from the bottom UP and or from top down and score runs up all by it self.. I THINK THERE IS A LOOSE PIN !!

    I almost forgot

    yars revenge LOCKS UP WHEN I PLAY as I cant help but do what I do to lock it up... I dont how ever know what it is..

    that makes it lock up other than my diaganal joystick movments witch I always use my brother nor freinds can not figure out why I run faster in football cause diagnal movments like snoopy flight go faster A SLICK STICK IS AWESOME FOR THESE MOVEMENTS as its TRUE 8way never fail 8way!! when you goto the corner it shorts the corner not having to use switches...

    really good design exept for its interferance it creates.. static.

    Anyhow I wanted to create a handheld system completely from scratch. I have all the 2600 tech specs and I just downloaded the schematics. It'd be pretty easy to build except for that T.I.A. chip. That is going to be my major problem but I'll look around some and see what I can find. I've got some crazy ideas for some of the features of this system if I can make it and I'm pretty confident about all of it except for the chip.

     

    Should be a fun project though even if it takes me a long while to realize it.

    You...are...awesome. I had thought that since the TIA was a custom chip made for Atari that I wouldn't be able to find it without reverse engineering. I guess my question now is, "how legal is it to buy this?" I realize that Atari Inc is unlikely to prosecute me for buying this thing but I never like doing something illegal even if I probably won't be caught. Is this something where I put it in my own creation they could sue for me stealing their patented (one presumes) technology?

     

    I have no knowledge of the legalities of such things?

    I am thinking of using a mini TFT SCREEN ON A REAL ATARI 2600 since I got my burner to make carts using old carts and a 7404 I could just use a big chip and figure out how to burn at addresses on my burner and then just use switches to SELECT lines and have a multi cart then just put a screen on a real atari there is plenty of room for a battery and charger system a bike light headlamp charger system would work great lithium batteries would work great too.

    If I turned the charging system off and ran from battery w out charging system It probably would last longer..

    also I just figured out WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE THE ATARI FACING YOU I could just turn it around and the joystick ports would be facing front I already know the controls..

    I just thought about making a TV into a 2600 but NAW I bet I could repair that damn polaroid TV or get a smaller LCD TV and put it on top of the regular 2600 there would be lots of room for batteries and other mods like multiple carts hooked up at same time and a address select witch would make FCC interferance like my FB II does w cart plugged in but I could have all lines hooked to all carts then select the one I want w a10 that would be cool to have a multi cart then all I would need is a zero insertion socket..

    I keep wondering why someone just doesnt make a 2600 blank cart w usb and memory .. mabie its illegal to make Atari 2600 carts but blank ones ??.. you would think as a project build it youre self might work..

    THE ONLY way to repair a PADDLE IS to TAKE IT APART the Best way is what I did REPLACE THE 1MEG OHM POT any one or you who can solder can replace a POT..

    I got super lucky and found a BARREL of paddles THEY WERE SUPER TIGHT AND GREAT but they were not the same shaft on the paddle !!! so like you said night maire anyway I just reused the wiper from the old paddles and used the bottom metal case and the new resistor from the new one cause the new metal bottom was all filled with new grease TUNER GREASE witch youre TV REPAIR SHOP SHOULD Be able to easily repair a paddle by just cleaning the resistor and the wiper and adding new grease TUNER GREASE would be ideal cause its made for tuners EXEPT DO NOT USE THE RED stuff as it dries up the coleco ones I found ..

     

    anyway its not hard to repair a paddle the hardest thing is unsoldering it to remove the pot and bending the case off the pot w out breaking it then just use paper towel and very carefully clean the wiper then watch putting it back inside to see how it connects then gently bend it up a little then clean the reistor black ring w 3 connections on it w paper towel and some windex but be carefull ..

    THE HARDEST PART OF PADDLE REPAIR IS CLEANING THE WIPER OF ALL THE CARBON FROM THE REISITOR W OUT BENDING IT.. but if you do this it will work better than new.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have repaired all my paddles and I can tell witch ones I did last cause I got lazy. and they are not as good as the 1st one I did..

    there is no way to fix a gittering paddle w out whiping the wiper off cause it wont connect.. you can try pulling up whilst turning it and if it works better than you could see why cleaning and bending the wiper makes it work better..

     

    AFTER ALL Its just a 1meg ohm pot thats all a paddle is it charges a capacitor then the game measures the voltage..

    HAVE FUN.. now where is that paddle size jumper and (RED FORMAN WAS RIGHT THE FUTURE IS SOLDERING )

    hmm mabie youre tv has IRC HRC AND STANDARD CABLE SELECT TUNING or its just BAD my freinds sony tv has crap on ch11

    I would run it into a VCR on ch3 or ch2 and SEE what that looks like then you will know weather its the TV tuner or the Atari.

    there is a adjust for inside the Atari for channel witch might have got changed over years ...

     

    also DONT use batteries use 5v+ dc power pack or 6v DC power pack as batteries always DIE..

    also there is a channel select switch INSIDE

    dang it now i have to open mine to see whats inside again!! this will give me someting to do.

    More and likely its just +9v DC you could take the cover off and look to see if the TIP goes to + but you would think its normal why would they inverse something in 1979 ... SO I would assume it would just take a normal 9v power pack.

    i KNOW thats a PONG varient.

    WHY NOT JUST BUILD A CARTRIDGE THAT TAKES MEMORY STICKS AND EMULATES AN ATARI 2600 cart and has built in menu to select fat .bin files!!! like compact flash to 2600 cart that would be easyer to make than a FB3..

    It could come with a HOMEBREW GAME!!...

    A while ago I bought what was advertised on Ebay as a 48K board,

    what arrived was just a 16K board in a 48K box (probably the result

    of a previous upgrade :(), which I only found out after having opened

    up the 400 completely to put this in.

     

    So the question is - can the board I have (part C014700 Rev F)

    be hacked in any way to become a 48K board? (or anything else ;))

     

    I don't see these boards on Ebay (UK) too often, so could try from

    the US/elsewhere, or $19.95 from B&C doesn't seem too bad.

    YOu have to WATCH where you put the rams

    the ROM GOES 1st closest to the CART then my has 32K then 16k in the 800

    if I put the 16k then the 32K it thinks the 32k is only 16K..

    Look what I got off EBAY.

    SOMEONE thought they could over bid me but at 30 15 seconds left I just said MINE!!!

    RCA TO F converter so she could not test w tv although I think its ok..

    I have some 32K boards and am trying to figure out how to mod the 16k to 48k so I can mod a nother 400 to take 48k or 64k depending on the mod I do to the 16k.

    the mod im going to do to a 800 16k from the salvaged 16k's I kept from the one I threw away it was SO nasty the dirt would NOT COME OFF I should have saved the insides but the power section was toast I kept the rom ram though on my old 800.

    I took the PLAY idler to the hardware store and used it to measure a sink washer #6 diverter worked great you know those bins of sink parts.. they have..

    then the spring on take up wheel is to big not to wide but to tall long wise snip it in half and replace it and it will rewind and fast forward like its subposed to !
