how about that bum out of Venezuela: ebay id: buysellven
41 negatives this month...made his feedback private...and no one is getting there items after 2 months.
now he is using another id to try and sell his stuff again, BEWARE!
I guess I didn't know you could change your feedback to "private." I don't understand what Ebay thinks this will do, or how this could affect anybody by the most distasteful of scammers.
I looked at their feedback just now, and see what you mean. What good does the withholding of information do?
I'm sure there are comments in the feedback about his new alterego... If you mark it private people can only see the scores, and you are unable to sell anything... So he hid it and moved on to a new handle...
Stupid really as now he has low feedback which is as bad as negative, especially when looking at an overseas seller in a suspect country (sorry any cool people from Venezuala)...
I'm actually wondering if it's a lot of negative feedback about shipping issues, which would be expected as I'm sure with his recent volumne some are delayed or lost and tracking/insurance is not very effective in this case.
I have herd of complaints about people not shipping there on ebay..

Just picked up an ancient hacked A800 on eBay. This person not only added a RAM mod (to save dumps?) and what looks like a printer port (check out the wiring to the controller ports), but they also hacked the notepad! (See screen shot.)
There's a tiny reset button next to the monitor port that I'll have to trace. I don't want to take the system apart for cleaning until other folks have had a look and offer explanations...
I think that was some vt100 morse code reciver transciever for ham radio for RTTY I think I could be wrong but that might be what it was for could be worth looking into seeing if it would still work w a kantronics modem..
I still have some old basic 232 serial programs and some vt100 terminal programs, I almost was going to try RTTY but never got morse code down and never upgraded my ham licence..

I also got some of the carts too!! for the 2600 .
I also got a 2600-daptor direct from the maker its cool lets me play 2600 stella games with PADDLES..
I did get paddles to work w 800 but using weird joystick to mouse for windows program then using the paddles as up down it was lame as noone wrote any interface for a800.exe for paddle ..
I also got a whole lot of paddles witch I replaced all of the 1Meg ohm pots with some REAL tight ones I got at AXEMAN in ST PAUL MN they are really cool non button paddles the surplus store barrel says TYCO I dont know but the grease in the pots DID Not rot like the red crap in Atari ones SO AFTER STEALING THE GREASE AND KEEPING THE ARARI PADDLE and stealing the bottom metal peice with the grease I was able to make some cool TIGHT paddles..
oh I also got some NEW Flashback II joysticks for $14 2 of them was good deal since I needed NEW joysticks..
ps I got some weird looking GENERIC PADDLES witch work good too!..
paddles 1st then whole pile including all I own exept one pair is on ebay..
and 410 mint pics too..
2703 is my fixed paddle melting inside to restrenghten it

the 1050 was only $14.00 plus shipping and the 410 was 6.95 plus shipping I got lucky no one was watching ebay..

What about talking to Atarimania and having them placed as an image along with it's entry on their site?? Would seem logical to keep it all together.
I hope you didnt bring any atari stuff to the dump I would buy some of it to save it...!!! since all you mostly have to do is wash boards then dry using air compresser I hope you saved that..
Atari Long Beach Collection
wow you must be rich to afford that mutch Atari stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW I thought i had to mutch Atari stuff /|\ WOW. NICE COLLECTION ,

Does anyone care about original cassette labels? I've got 6 boxes full upstairs.
I Actually got my Cassette player Repaired finnaly
I repalced the #6 diverter washer and some belts and snipped the take up reel spring to half its hight now it REWINDS AND FAST FORWARDS better than NEW!!!!..
410 mint are the NEW 410 I fixed the idelrs on It was SO NEW WHEN I GOT IT OFF EBAY the cord was stuck to the styrophome and looked never used I just wish they would have pushed PLAY AND PAUSE
FROM THE FACTORY the good news is the pinch roller was not damaged thats why when you push play then pause it unengages all pressure on rubber parts..
oh and because there there the cart labels too..
here is some mint 410 pics too not the same as the buthchard one Sorry for my off topic pictures but there IS LABLES in them

the crappy label was from the butchared 410 with the wire diagram I used to resolder the pcb in 198something and the new one is the MINTY one 410 I repaired off ebay BACK TO NEW working order
using #6 diverter sink washer and some belts from http://www.turntableneedles.com/search.asp?keyword=atari&search=GO

The link is broken and I only have instuction sheet w out diagrams if anyone has info on completing the 16k to 48k mod for a atari 400 please let me know..
I did an original atari 48k mod to a 400 but sold the 400 on ebay so now its off to find a nother 400 to butcher up again at least in will only be inside so noone will see it..
ALso I like the one where you change it to 64k chips I dont care if it only gives 48k though.. I also have 2 32K upgrade boards I recently trashed an 800 cause it was TOAST ugly stained and groose I should have kept the keyboard but
was cleaning.. I did how ever keep the rom and rams chips carts..
I forgot I had had 2 32k rom chips .. IS there a way to mod an atari 400 to use a 32k chip then later swap that to 48k w out having to change any thing??
the 32k chips work instantly in the 800 along w 16k to make 48k I assume if i put both in it would give 64k i guess if i use 2 32k and one 16k would that make 80k??? I dont know weather an unmoded 800 would let me use 80k.
I know I can use a 32k and a 16k .

found A picture of my Atari 410 Program Recorder I Repaired to NEW..
Replaced Main Belt Replaced (need new one still Rewind Belt) Replaced counter Belt works..
Replaced PLAY IDLER rubber.. swapped out MECH bottom part broke platter Replaced w old one keeping NEW HEAD MECH AND ALL new plastic parts from NEW PLAYER and NEW PCB..
Fixed TAKE UP REEL snipped spring in half to make it rewind normally and fast forward normally..
Here are Pictures of it I will upload pictures of Parts SOON..
I fixed a 410 tape player I got off ebay using parts from 2 other ones.. 1st off when taking the head off be super carefull not to break the plastic l shaped lip thing...
you have to pull at a angle as not to break it at a angle to the pulling the head to the left and up but dont break the lip thing..
I was lucky the capstan drive pinch roller idler rubber was MINT no DENTS the play idler was toast rotten and had a huge dent cause NOONE PUSHED PLAY AND PAUSE !!!!!.. on youre
410 if it works push play and pause NOW NOW NOW make play on and make shure pause is engaged too this will disengage all idlers from being pushed on by the pins..
ok I replaced the play idler with a #6 diverter sink hose washer from hardware store bring in the old one and they will match it up perfectly DONT WORRY IF ITS
bigger thick wise as if you wedge a screwdriver wilst pushing it in the plastic holder you will see as you roll it with youre fingers in a circle on table to seat it you will realize how rotten the old one is it seems to big and to tight but its exactly how its subposed to be.. as far as the fast forward idler you are just out of luck UNLESS SOMEONE FROM THE FACTORY WAS smart enough to push play and pause from the factory this will have some dented damage but moslty will still work.... all you have to do to compensate is take the take up reel off using a snipers to wedge the red pin plastic pin off be carefull dont snip it off once its up a little use youre hand to just twist it to get it off then remove the take up reel
SNIP THE SPRING in half I MEAN up and down wise dont cut the circle just make the spring half as high this way it will rewind and fast forward easyer... then replace the main belt then the rewind belt and finnaly the counter belt there might be a nothe belt i cant remember but its IMPARETIVE you replace the #45 diverter play idler hose washer and the MAIN DRIVE BELT you have to use soldering iron to replace most belts and remember to scratch the pcb or use marker to mark witch color wires go where this helps when putting back to gether..
NOW I HAVE A MINT LOOKING WORKING 410 cassette player witch has play and pause pushed now.. I got spanish loaded...!!!! and loaded a 5 year old program I forgot I ever saved!.
Here are some pictures of Mint Atari410.

No sense in creating a new topic since a lot of information is already here. I went to replace my belts in my Atari 410 and found there looks to be 4 belts, not 3. I've attached images for ease of description. The belts with the green arrows are what I've replaced. The one with the red arrow I did not. Currently the symptoms of the recorder are that it will not rewind very well and will not play. It fast forwards fine and the counter works. When I have the unit play, the pinch roller works but the spindle doesn't move causing the tape not to be wound into the cassette.
I ordered the replacement belts from Best Electronics, but it would seem that they do not have the 4th belt. I guess I'll try and determine how to get this belt out and take some measurements for a replacement.
you will also need a #6 diverter sink washer rubber hose washer for the little PLAY idler it comes off by removing the RED pin Also snip the spring in the take up reel in half so its half as high as it used to be and viola REWIND AND FAST FORWARD WORKS GREAT NOW!!! ...it seems as the rubber hose wahser seems to big but use small flat blade screw driver to push it in then run it along table rotating and spining it as you push the grommet into the ring once you SEAT it it will work as new and if you snip spring next to the felt in half so its not as high as it was half as high it will rewind and fast forward better than factory..
now push play and pause..

1st off its subposed to be TIP Positive!!!!!!!!!!!! DUHHHHHH and second if you fried all the resitors in the atari then you had something else wrong with youre atari like a shorted dioed or voltage regulator..
The Atari 2600 HAS to have at least 500Ma to run the chips in the cartridges see the flashback II mod pages and read up about the whimpy 100Ma power pack used in the flashback II.
anyway the Atari 2600 uses a 5v regulator witch changes the 9v into 5v ..
as far as the FCC complaning about a crock Atari 2600 causing interferance I would not worry about it Unless youre interfering with HAM RADIO communications witch would be Really hard to do on CH 3 or ch2 or ch4 with no power I really doubt they would care if you hooked Atari up wrong..
and as far as seizing it it would have to be interfering with every tv and or radio in the BLOCK witch would not happen..
here is what you typed.
because every resistor and capacitor on the board was fried due to a power mismatch and I HAD it being tip positive. you must have dislexia cause it is tip positive! ALWAYS use a volt/ (ohm) meter to check witch end is positive and all atari factory had the tip positive..
I always chopped any of those crappy polarity end things from radio shack off anyway and put my own ends on..
I wonder if youre 340t 5v regulator was bad or youre cap was shorted... anyway you can always find a atari 2600 on ebay cheap if you watch the bids and snag one up most of the time they start at 99¢ and have been not tested most of the time its just the RF cable or power jack..
I have never got a atari off ebay that didnt work!.. I got one w a PAL version RF modulator witch was bad and since i had taken my 2600 witch i BLEW up swapping chips 10 years ago and gave up on it I stole the RF modulator from it witch was good.. it was one of those nights up till 4am with soldering iron on going insane trying to hook to vcr w no luck.. anyay after throwing the sears arcade II in the dumpster from witch it came I kept the RF modulator witch i knew was good. I took that and put it into the PAL 6 switcher I got off ebay with its yellow lettering! small letters and 6 switch not old rounded heavy looking but still a cool woody now it works..
also i got a DEAL on some 5v voltage regulators at the hamvention SO I replaced one on a nother 2600 that stank when i turned it on it burned my finger when i touched the voltage regulator.. so I would be more worried about a fire than the FCC..
I bet if you replaced the 5v voltage regulator and the dieods and that cap it would work..still.
GOOD LUCK.
PS I forgot youre restoration looks great.
I have blown many voltage regulators hooking power packs up backwards..
once I was hooking two power packs together in parralel to see what would happen board turns out Pitfall II music goes faster the more power you use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. even though its subposed to run at 5v

That's good to know - I would have been scared to try with the lettering there.
Mild abrasives and acetates will take off the lettering, but the peroxide has no effect on it whatsoever, so you have no worries at all.

Purple SPARKLE is the best Windex type product I know YOU sometimes have to RINSE it off w windex ifyou use to mutch cause its a degreaser but it works great.. it wont fix coloring but will clean all the dirt off and make it look so clean the coloring will look clean..
