  1. I found the connector and a pinout..

I found the pin out and the connector I had DONOT CONNECT LUMINA TO SOUND CONNECT IT TO COMPOSITE

connect pins 1 and 4 to gether if you want more color

Just solder pins 1 and 4 together and viola super color

if you want you can hook pins 1-5 w out 4 if that dont work !!!!!..

    pin 4 being composite video.

  2. Those components on the SIO socket are capacitors - probably added to reduce noise on the SIO. You see them in some 130XEs and I'm sure they're factory installed.

The best thing to do with the video is to use the s-video input on a TV, with 75ohm resistors to ground at the TV end. That should look pretty good. I use a video cable with four RCA connectors that plug into a little circuit box containing the resistors and a s-video cable stub for output.

Measured against the risk, I don't think an internal video upgrade is worth the benefit. Perhaps a memory upgrade or a dual Pokey on a board would be better returns.

    Hello everyone,

I salvaged this NTSC 130XE off Ebay a few years ago and finally decided to spend some time on it.

First, I tried the machine and, except for outputting black & white (instead of color - however that may be due to the cheapo video cable bought on Ebay), it works fine.

After dismantling it, the SIO seems to have been tampered with. :?

Anyway, what I'd like to do first with it is give it back its original color (will look at the pinned threads but if one method is better than another, let me know).

The second thing would be Video upgrade but I haven't used a soldering iron in 20 years so my question is: is it that hard to do such an upgrade for a novice ?

(or is there something easier to start with like piggy bagged pokey ?).

    Thank you,

    PA.

use din plug for color but tie chroma and lumina to sound + then use video out composite you must plug sound to tv and video to tv for color to work... its not svideo but color works..

  3. @ Bob:

Thank you for your input. One of the resistors has its soldering broken - will that affect performance ?

Those arent resistors. They are capacitors.. The only reason they are there is to make the 130xe meet rediculous FCC regulations concerning RF noise/interference.. Those caps were only installed on north american machines, and they screw up high-speed SIO operation..

REMOVE ALL OF THEM.. Don't worry,, just get a pair of dykes and clip them off..... If you don't, you are asking for flaky SIO operation.. Most NTSC XF551 drives actually wont work correctly even in normal SIO speed operations until you remove those capacitors from the 130xe SIO port..

the funny thing is it looks like they were trying to stop interferance comming IN TO THE SIO SO DUMB whell i couldbe wrong too!!..

the think that makes me FEURIOUS seeing those caps in the 1st place is how the hell do they expect the tape recorder to even work w that crock there you could never get a old tape to load w that crock shorting the lines out to Ground!..

    wow

  4. Whell as far as I have shorted together then tied to the sound and for some reason the color worked better. The Cable I use is a normal DIN PLUG AND ONLY HAS 4wires comming out of it 2 rca 100 foot white old radio shack cords so in a sence there is only 2 outoputs this leads me to belive i had shorted one of the

luma chroma together or one to video and the other to AUDIO + some how this made the color work great The cable is at parents house but next time I go there ill look at and send diagram on how i wired it.

IH yeah Before I forget ALways add a small amount of solder when desoldering to reflow and reinvigerate the solder as rotten solder never comes off ..

ALSO most chips are about 550'F or SO i have a 600 or 700 degree F soldering iron but some times I turn it off right before desoldering its weird cause if you solder a lot you know when its cooling down solder seems to STICK MORE also come off easyer ..

I also have figured out having a lot of refreshed sponge w COLD water helps maintain that IDEAL temprature needed..

I usually add a BIG BLOB OFNEW SOLDER THEN LET IT COOL THEN whip solder iron on sponge then put it to blob then desolder with solder sucker the one i got at MICROCENTER for $1.99 was and still is the BEST DESOLDERING sucker i have ever used its metal w a white plastic tip works great ..

sometimes I will re add solder and remove it 3 times waiting 3 minnutes between doing it untill i get a good resolder to be able to wiggle the pin sometimes it can be a real bitch to remove chips I always like to replace chips w sockets....

ANYWAY GOOD luck on the VIDEO but the chroma lumina not being connected to video and or sound is why you have or had washed out color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I figured this out cause Missile command pushing s and smart bombs level 9 smartbombs only till i get at least 1 Million points looks so mutch better w COLOR roasted!!..

I almost forgot this is for composite only and the color wont come on untill you plug the audio cable on.. AS SOON AS I GET THE CABLE BACK FROM PARENTS HOUSE ILL SHOW HOW I HOOKED IT UP..

  6. Auto-start was removed a long time ago (I can't remember the last version that had it) because there were a couple of unresolved problems when using it. The B&W switch just pauses the game in later versions. Since the game waits for a trigger press at the start of each level or life anyway, it was just something extra to assign to the switch.

Game reset cycles though the game modes, as you noticed. When I was hacking Jr. for speed, I noticed how easy it was to add it's method of easier games - by eliminating some of the monsters using the low bits of the game variation and using that as the upper limit to the monster's routines. I was already using a variable to track the variation, so that is another "why not?" option...it didn't "cost" anything to implement. Game select allows you to start on any level up to the 9th key. However, if you hold up on both controllers when starting a game, you will begin at level 254 (just a little split-screen development thing I left in...level 255 features a simulated rollover bug).

    Difficulty switches:

Left difficulty controls how well the monsters track the player. In B difficulty, only the red monster will seek out the player, all others move randomly. In A difficulty, each of those random monsters are given a variable amount of time to seek the player as well. The arcade's method of tracking the player is not implemented in either mode, so this game is considerably "dumber" than it.

The right difficulty controls how fast the player moves. In B, the player can outrun all of the monsters on any level.

The score's color will indicate what position the switches are in, as a reminder. White = both B. Red = left A, right B. Blue = left B, right A. Green = both A.

Changing any console switch (other than color/B&W) will restart the game on the level selected. At the end of a game, the player is given the option of continuing at the last level reached (while the X sprite is displayed). Press the trigger on the stick while this icon is displayed to continue.

Regardless of the mode chosen, the monster's movements are possible to replicate from game to game...so it's possible to create solid patterns so long as you keep track of your own movements.

BTW the Ms. Hack version was pretty much abandoned, because I could never figure out why it doesn't work on real hardware...what's the point of a 2600 game that doesn't work on a 2600? ;)

I like that You used the b/w switch as I needed it to change from built in and cart mode on flashback II rev D anyway I used the ch3/4 switch for b/w since

I used composite video OUT!!! witch is cool becuase I put my flashback into a old 2600 case and it looks cool .. I like that you need to push fire on every

level to start game in case you need to take a ''rest break'' or the phone rings right when pokey is on youre tail.

    UPDATE 5:05AM JUNE 3 FRIDAY 2011

    *******************************

I would never expect arcade movements since noone can reproduce real memmory chips in an emulator the bus on a real arcade machine lets you FEEL every chip in unison we all know playing old school arcade pacman is not the same as new pacman!..

ps I snipped the 7.5v power pack back off and left the 5v to the c29 cause wire got hot! /\ on arcade pacman SO WHAT if it takes 1 minnute to warm up.. at least it wont burst into flames ..

i ALWAYS TURN OFF OR UNPLUG AT NIGHT IT HAS A real SLOT TUBE...

SWITCH ON FB IS ONE THROW BUT DUAL POLE 3 ON ONE SIDE AND 3 ON OTHER W COMMON IN MIDDLES

ONE JUMPER GETS GNDED WILE OTHER GETS OPEN BUT THERE IS OPENS WHEN WIGGLING SWITCH SEEMS NOT TO DO DAMAGE CAUSE ITS NOT POWER I THINK IT SIWTCHES A10 OR 12 CANT REMEMBER ANYWAY CART STAYS POWERED ON CAUSE YOU CAN see INTERFERANCE WHEN YOU LOOK CLOSE i WILL WHEN GET SETTLED MOVING WILL TRY MSHACK ON BURN TO SEE IF IT WORKS.

PPS THANKS FOR THE intracate gui DESCRIPTIONS..

    Nukey.

also I Just FIGURED OUT MY PS3 USB JOYSTICK WORKS W stella!!!!!! on both machines ps3 and xp ON REGULAR COMPUTER AND JUST REALIZED VOLUME ROM LOADER AND MENU OPTIONS CAN BE USED SO I CAN SCROLL ROMS AND SELECT THEM AND PLAY EVEN TURN VOL DOWN FOR SLEEPING I love that the buttons swap on ps3 to regular usb now if i just could understand programming

    hmm letS SEE .

DOES THE 255 LEVEL CLEAR TO 256 OR DOES IT LOCK UP?..

    ILL TRY IT.

  7. Whell even though i had some long rants last five years I FIXED the DELUXE space invaders ORIGINAL ARCADE CABINET complete w unknown serial # original WELLS GARDNER

black and white sylvania TUBE still works need caps for underneeth the chasses .. hope i dont lose mounting screws when moving..

the original space invaders cabinet w the orignal

SICT number from cabinet MIDWAY number 0201

I finnaly figured out that the two bottom left chips on sound board can get STUCK

and the lower lm3900's can get it stuck its weird but after learning the non delux board had 4 bad lm3900's and those have differnt sounds each..

I finnaly got ALL SOUNDS working but the coin counter is gutted cause i broke it when i was 9 or 10 years old at

A Bally® Co. on the Glass hmm i need clips!!!

    ..

now as far as TAX on a coin counter youre RESTURANTS profits are based on youre GROSS YEARLY profits anyway and the COIN COUNTING machine at the bank uses LCD coin counter not a mechanincal one just like ATARI TETRIS KLAX witch use NVRAM SPACE INVADERS could not remember coin info but could display it on the screen!..

NOW A BRAZE kit may now work since i found some long pins on those PC104 VIDEO boards and i can always open coin door and play VCR into the RCA plug I added to the cabinet on the screen so i can play Atari when i want ..

OH i almost forgot it sometimes still shows the DOT when you shut it off..

also at the bank yesterday I laughed cause there so called new fangled coin counter was replaced by the older lcd one not the one w the SCREEN TUBE !! making me think there is a connection to mechanical coin counters and LCD coin counters or just using that exact coin counter not the on in the game cause the taxes are based on youre profits if you spend $300 on pcbs on ebay just to find 3 working lm3900's and only get one to work and you have 50¢ in coin box I see nothing to TAX..

although if JAPAN ran out of quarter sized YEN in 1979/1980 then LCD coin counters would probably work better but NVRAM would work even better but when you gamble on a 3 line slot machine and put 4 quarters in every time you put $ in and once and a while one comes back but you obvibously lose 1 quarter every bet but once and a while get it back DO YOU care NO as long as the odds on the machine are 75 not 55% witch depends on the c-mos revision..

the only thing you have to worry about is HEAT sink paste drying up THE ps3 has almost a half cap full on the mini toothpaste size tube for each cpu but a mame cabinet using a cpu needs checked every 3 months! especially on a DELL the good news is when i DELIVERED A enevlope to ACTIVISON once somewhere in MN I asked if anywone remembered ATARI 800 Pitfall and she said I remember that game I said I got a Cart from Good will cause I didnt have the $ to get one from K-mart when it came out and Told them How i didnt have the INstuction manual.

and how i had used a drywall screw to chomp the power on the 800 then figured out if i put cart in at angle and pushed it forward it would connect or disconnect and cause the wall to fail and screen to turn to chunks the sound scrambles untill you hit a void(entity) and lost points then of course the music changes and you go back to last RED marker anyway i didnt know about the Ballons untill my freind said dont you know you can JUMP an catch ballons i said I would just try to jump down then one time someone said catch the ballon i said what ballon and they said wait for the bats then jump for ballon on that screen you can jump higher then you can jump down from right side to left side to diamond chamber .I finnaly did that and got both guys then a NOTHER LEVEL OPENED UP and it had a whole nother chips worth of levels I was like wow it took 2 weeks of play just to do that I did it like last year and it took less time cause i used the save state to cheat on emulator .

but I did figure out if you short out birdie king sound it scrambles the sound but if you go out of bounds it corrects sound but gets croupt like you sometimes cant get into hole it thinks its not RED

colored then once you get the QUARTER NOISE to work it corrects that..

hmm I think its time to check pump 7's tape head opto siolator witch checks if card is all the way in.

  8. Just remembered something oh just to let SONY KNOW if i wanted a movie i wouuld get it from WALLMART NEW with the cool jewel case!..

anyway just remembered this i still have my macroscrubber!! and remembered this.

if you have a psp and atari800

    this http://psp.akop.org/atari800/ reminded me of

Moonpatrol on atari8bit if you push left up and fire fire fire keep firing andd then push 1 or 0 i cant remember but it starts a demo but w sound and repetes ...

a nother thing in atari800.exe if you have like 2 shared mirred disks and before you run atari800.exe you in dos using dosbox it even worked!!!!!

attrib *.* -r -h -s -a /s being that dosbox is in the subdir that youre atari/atr and atari800.exe is in if youre on say c: the /s would root all dirs out from that attribing the write protect since most atari800 emulation roms would be coming from youre cdrom burn if you wanted to modify a actual atari basic game or file you actually typed in youre self or created and wanted to fart around w emulation and save files to .atr you ave to share w everyone and system and copy security e everyone on the .atr file you want to modify.

say the DUEL program me and my brother typed in from COMPUTE or byte cant remember then me and him and some help from my dad and his math class I changed the explosions to sprite in

    my password protected .

atari basic disk w S.P.A.C.E menu program from Eugene, Oregon disk of the month

atari interest group Saint paul atari space group disk of the month menu program witch .

    .

I modified to fit more filenames and changed the disk to load w out dup and renamed my basic program to use traps and disable the break key to ask for password when you rebooted kind of like a kiosk so it would run menu.bas but i just renamed menu.bas to dir.bas then changed my boot trap file to autorun.sys and it booted in that file unlike a pc atari800 basic files can boot from just renaming them to autorun.sys so for information educational purposes the sound on the ps3 sounds like same the good thing is with atari800 emulation i dont have to try to steal 256k chips from my compaq PORTABLE II computer's memmory upgrade pcbs to run a 64K atari800xl and also dont have to worry about light ning ruining the atari800 disk drive cause those people who used to repair atari disk drives are busy activating cellphones way up north I mean WAY up north like evilith thought i was bored HAVE YOU SEEN a DIGIKEY CATALOG LATELY they have like

1528 pages in the 2005 catalog and its easyer to run an emulation file than to try to look for power supply parts for my original atari800 but I still have the original 10k rom cart in it why wouuld i want to find a10 when someone else did plus it stinks and i dont like fires.. so i would think it would be safer w emulation.

  9. the recipt menanig why would you want a 50gig game on the harddrive instead of the blue ray disk like unreal tounrment 2003 with the factory autorized crak and the ORIGINAL cdrom I MEAN

optical rom you can load patch no optical rom/ram patch and finnaly 436 patch you can run w out the optical disk what i mean is SONY would be making a mistake instead of charging to play online games online they could just charge for per movie bandwidth usage when like watching like netflicks.

i now see why sony wanted to lock the operating system cause with linux you probably get into the netflix cache witch would be since sony owns lots of MOvie they would not want you to beable to chomp a movie good thing i dont care about net flix but if i did big deal why would i want to play atari on a PS3 when my computer works fine w atari emulation and a blue way player that works on my tv would not be so bad if i didnt upgrade . I do wish i had a PMP or a psp since they are portable.

the good news is a ps3 takes exactly the same power as a 800 and a 810 power pack! lame huh but way neater looking wires and it plays BLUE RAY opticle disks and no compression feathers on a 50gig disk playing a 30 gig movie in 1920x1050 ! i probably could watch a movie on tv w out feathers and still play atari emulation.

  10. Hmm a google cache dragged me back here for more ranting..

its weird how long ago i downloaded a psp atari 800 file w no psp to run it on then my brother in laws outlaws my brothers wifes sisters husban gave me 2 ps3's

on red screen of death other no power at all .

1st rip appart both ps3's then add silicone heat sink paste then reput back together no hair dryer needed PUN..

then read up on how linux can be loaded if you have oldenough version ps3.

luckally then one that didnt power on booted w the redscreen of death's ps3 power supply and eventaylly stealing the red screens optical dvd/cdrom/blueray bdrom drive...

i got a working ps3 and since i never had a ps3 and dont have $ why jail break it so like the psp they could lock it down so i never upgraded!! i instead downloaded a back up of 2.76.

    ps3/update/updat.pup

    then burned cdrom.

then stole harddrive out of red screen ps3 and freind reseated power supply witch i thought was dead and got red screen powered up but it red screened again probaly because the silicone themo paste was so dried up and toasted it over heated..

anyway the harddrives turned out fine 2 80G sata laptop drive one seagate and one fujitsu..

anyway long story short got one usb ps3 joystick with home button and linux loaded using pititeboot and loading ubuntu 9.10{power pc ps3 version} in the OEM MODE who cares if for manafactures only whell its cool cause oem chooses even the VIDEO mode and isine i dont have hdmi the lcd screen wont work w it and using tv tuner would just be so lag why even say..

anyway back to ATARI I actaully after oem linux loaded i got the petiteboot to choose linux install and it actually loaded..... U used a usb spltter/hub its one of theose 1 to 2 usb dongles and even thougth no xp it worked how the F does that plug play work?? must be the linux NOT it worked in ps3 os browser but farmville wont work but castles of camelot works w ps3 browser...

almost got flash player loaded for .debien .deb firefox.. opera worked too.. then i loaded .deb packs for stellax from sourceforge and atari800.exe sourceforge.deb packs and to my surprise

atari emulation and linux ubunto works on the ps3 so since i cant afford ps3 games and never played one yet why upgrade and the other ps3 i probably part out on ebay for parts

cause heat sinks case fan power supply all work blue tooth adaptor an all that crap work on extra red screen ps3 and since hdmi didnt work on sceptre 22 inch gamer I probably will just leave ps3 at the 2.76 version if i get a lcd tv then mabie ill try it on hdmi but for now it loads stella and plays 2600 emulation wont fullscreen but none the less works w joystick the video mode in pitite boot lets me choose 480i only works 5 something rolls and wont synk.. so im thinking mabie ill bring ps3 to pawn shop to browse a lcd tv to see if linux boots to bigger mode or is it oem locked..

the good news is if atari800 works on ps3 why not linux on psp or just one of those atari800 ports.. remember you need actual basic cart to beable to run basic rom for informational and educational purposes now running linux on a ps3 not intening to jail break or use ps3 network seems ok to me and they even let you upgrade the picture app w out having to update to 3.6.

sorry for rerambling again .. but im glad i found my old cabinet pics HMM must have been the lead piosinging from soldering that gave me ramblings ..

oh its 4am insomina too or mabie im just a little geekey

  11. wow rambling again..

eliminating the need for dosbox and freedos..

then by mistake i had P III single pcb plugged into the back plane for power and left the extra ide power plug pluged into the single board pcb and took the back plane off cause the pci only back plane wont wake up the 486

YES I DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE WHITE POWER CONNECTOR WAS FOR UNTILL I turned on the BIG BLUE old 486 power supply freind wayne gave me althouh the power plug was wired wrong cause he said he had threw the case away i looked at a other 386 i had and figured out the poiwer switch jumpering and viola it came on the 486 powered on single board 486 this one had heat sink clamps too so at 33Mhz it booted then i heard the p III BEEP i was like huh no back plane where is power coming from OH yeah the extra ide power plug was still plugged into the P III single board computer and i was like hmm forget the mono soundblaster I stole the back plane i was using from my self and unplugged the 486 put a 66Mhz chip in and moved some jumpers found out i have like 3 working 33Mhz 486 chips and like 2 working 66Mhz chips then ran low on silicone heat sink paste... then decided to goto the single board P III board with its weird back plane plug but decided to see what it did w isa 8bit soundblaster anyway to make a long story short the word yamaha on the ibit isa soundblaster branded soudblaster reminded me when my freind gave me a 386 that he said locked up on sound SO I LOADED doom and changed levels to change the midi and it unstuck!

thats when i relized midi can get stick and if you have built in midi you have to diable it AFTER you move it out of the way of the external pci or 8bit isa board and you can only choose one midi device for playing keyboard at a time..

so selecting the correct GALAGA sound like midas or SEAL insteAD OF directx sound might speed galaga to not glitch or slow up a lot ...

also -noscanlines -nodouble -640x400 or something like that

mame 067 seems to be the best galaga but remember every single version of mame has a differnt version of galaga roms

and ON the pcb i had the GALLAG d-g-07 pcb the tractor beam cant be shot down in the demo and it just said

    1 9 8 2

    no ©

but the so called bootleg version of gallag could have very whell been the original version of the game..

NAMCO probably bought the rights before they licenced MIDWAY to make galagas in us aslso

anyway i foundf out using a tvview external vga to compoiste and nvidia and custom modes i figured out my 22 inch gamer monitor even thought the hdmi cable is toast with ps3 hdmi connector does not work ..

    but the vga connecor works!

great and will wake it self up and even once choosen to VGA mode it will sleep and wake..

also there are some cool modes for xp

    like

2048x1536 custom KLW-7000 sony monitor mode

2048x1536 30Hz 48Hz 43Hz but 60 Hz shuts off on lcd but stays on vga to tv box... even 200Hz 2048x1536 works on tvview but who can read that w out zoom

now 2048x1536 30Hz works but is so overscanned on this 22 inch screen it wont fit but 2048x1050 works in 30Hz but works great in 60Hz it seems that a 22inch lcd uses 1050 like my old compaq n610c laptop does any mode w 1050 after it looks great I even added 800x1050 and it looks tweeky like nesticle mode... but cool

as far as my eyes i can use 1600x1050 and still read..

    althogh 1152x1050 is really cool.

its strechy but not clock blury!!! hope this was not to

  12. I've had 2 XBunk 360s fry so far. PS3 makes loud fan noises but still works as I bought it (until I'm forced to upgrade to the no Linux bull).

I don't understand, really. Back in the day the Atari and Intellivision would literally melt the shag carpet before quitting.

I think it is funny that someone posted about their PS3 dying and the first response is someone trashing the 360, calling it names, and making sure to note their PS3 is working. It's okay! He wasn't dogging the PS3. He wanted to play it and he is sad it broke! I also didn't see anything in the OP in reference to the 360. To the OP, sorry your console broke. No matter the console it is a major disappointment when it fails.

Is this the console PS3 vs. 360 flame wars I've heard about? I'm sorry if I touched a nerve. I think BOTH suck compared to my older consoles. No Sony Fanboy or Micro-softie here! My point was this generation consoles seem to overheat and die. I'm not thrilled to hear a fellow AtariAge member having his PS3 die as it doesn't bode well for me either.

Again, didn't want to start a flame war. I realized it's a touchy subject and still posted my experiences anyway. Sorry.

have you ever looked at the state of the thermal paste you know it dries up with in 1 year to 6 months the ps3 i got was almost comepletely dried up..

its completely worth removing the warrenty sticker to replace the thermal paste..

you know on youre IBM compatible machine you check the thermal paste when it locks up or the c-mos battery whell the ps3 has 2 cpus huge ones really big and they have HUGE heat sinks otherwise it looks like a laptop w lots of memmory sticks built in other than the thermal paste and the 2032 battery witch could short out and make it shluggish and over heat check the thermal paste..

on a OLD xbox i seen a n610c compaq type cpu used and was able to replace the heat synk sticker crap... i would have just wanted to use the white paste sony used on the ps3 I used up the last of my thermal paste on my ps3 and it hardly runs the fan I bet if youre ps3 over heats that mutch to run the fan full speed youre thermal paste is dried out..

USE PAPER towel remove all thermal paste from heat sink and cpus then use the white stuff try to get the biggest toothpaste tube type thermal paste avalible cause the more the better I ran out so now when my regular computer over heats I have to get more..

for $4.00 its better than sending it to sony and its always better to do preventive maintnence before you see a yellow death light..

I hope mine doesnt do that as it would suck no more linux..

    oh I alsomost for got..

    PS

one day in 198? something 1985 i think I light ning storm came along and OF COURSE the atari was on

my dad told me once the electric bill is on a budget $150 a month or something like that it stays the same so i could just leave the atari on all the time I forgot to unplug the disk drive the 850 interface module and the modem DAMN anyway lightning blew up the disk drive the 850 interface module and the satellite reciver

the satellite splitter and the honeywell alarm panel all blew up

but the good old ATARI800 said READY it took a nother 10 years for the power supply to finnaly take a crap it still works but it stinks really bad now so i just replaced the power supply but it just goes to show they dont make stuff like they used to...

AT LEAST sony made it easy to get to the heat sink and didnt make it like MICROSOFT with those crappy bandaid crap heat stink stickers witch suck..

I like the huge fan they used too.. .

also i remembered if you turn it on pushing both power and eject the fan runs full speed.. dont know what that is for..

    probably to test the fan.

anyway all good luck keeping youre stuff cool..

    oh before I forget..

my n610c Compaq laptop is great EXEPT

1 the heatsynk is fan mounted UPSIDE DOWN lame

2 the harddrive is directly underneeth the ati chipset and the northgate witch DONOT HAVE HEATSINKS lame and stupid

the only good thing is it actally has white heatsink paste

3 the lame thing is the thing if you put a 2.4 Ghz cpu in it forget it it will literally start a fire..

    4 i downgraded to a 1.7 Ghz cause a 2.0 is to hot..

5 my harddrive used to show temprature in speed fan

6 speed fan could use a mod to make it change speeds by it self so you could run fan fullspeed

7 the harddrive temp seems to be stuck at 300'F wow whooly crap

8 i did get it up to 150'F once But i started to smell solder melting on the back side of the harddrive and said hmm time to let it cool down for a while..

9 playing UT 2003 goty will only allow 1 hour of play time before getting to over 166'F .

10 at least you can just pull the harddrive out and put in freezer for 1½ hour..

11 the only good thing about the n610c is its 1400x1050 screen its awesome i just wish i could find a nother laptop w same screen.

12 why is it that noone has a laptop w screen more than 720??? lame .

13 im now wondering if i should shut the ps3 off or is it like the laptop when not running ut2003 type games it probably wont matter

15 oh i forgot i think found a quake2 for power pc ps3 verison i think im going to try that.

I did get atari2600 emulation working on ps3 and linux ubuntu 9.10 using piteteboot..

  13. DID YOU rip it completely apart and replace the thermal paste!!!!!!!!!! there is cpu paste on both cpu's on the big black ones.. I replaced it on mine and it had to do good I cant belive someone would torch a ps3 using a hair drier that is the lamest thing i ever saw when i saw that on utube i started laughing rolling on the floor COME ON using heat to fix a heat related problem is so dumb... there also could be just a dead 2032 battery too! so try replacing heat sink thermal paste USE THE WHITE stuff and the battery and see if that helps .. it probably is just the battery but could be both I know i have two ps3's one didnt work when i got it and the other did so i stole the power supply from the one w the red screen and took the DVD/bluray drive from the red screen one and put it into the dead one and it now works but before i powered it up i replaced the thermal paste on the cpu's witch were almost completely dried up GOOD LUCK anyway..

I hope youre DVD/BLUE RAY drive is ok cause it seems that is expensive..

the good news is the one that works has 2.76 version UPDAT.PUP on it and it loads linux from pititeboot and linux works!!..

also I have tested both harddrives they both work in the 2.76 machine then other one made me update the firmware from 3.50 back to 3.50 witch i downloaded so i could see if it worked and it loaded fine then rebooted and started to work then came up w the red screen again I dont care i got one working ps3 ..

so I guess both power supplies work now I wonder if the c-mos battery is dead or weather something elese was bad my freind sais he sees pop on the board..

I dont know I hope you can figure out what it is..

  14. Whell I am afriad of using a jail break cause it might be wrong version or virus or just not the otheros.bld anyway I know you are going to say whimp but i dont want to ruin the ps3 I got it free I got two of them from relitive and one came up w red screen and is on version 3.50 witch is lame anyway and the blue ray in the other one didnt work so i stole the power supply and the working DVD blue ray player from the other one and have one new looking version 2.76 working ps3

I updated the photo thing and it worked w out having to update whole ps3 .

also I GOT LINUX to load I USED PETEBOOT the otherversion he made and used linux power pc ps3 version 9.10 and it I USED THE OEM INSTALL OPTION ON LINUX

that made it work with the pitete boot thing... I didn not use the graphical pitete boot I used this version

    http://ozlabs.org/~jk/projects/petitboot/downloads/bin-0.2/otheros-petitboot+network.bld

i renamed it to otheros.bld and made a PS3/otheros dir and put it in there and burned a cdrom I didnt even close the cdrom it worked petitboot loaded and then i put the linux 9.10 ps3 boot disk in and used pitete boot to choose it after rebooting and then choose oem install (for manafactures only) who cares it loaded..

and now it works i can play 2600 emulation and play castles of camelot on facebook.

I didnt get flash to work cause i dont think they have a version for ps3 power pc yet..

I was going to jailbreak the other ps3 but it still comes up w red screen ...

I did replace the thermal paste before i powered either machine up.

its kind of cool to use linux on a ps3 I think sony is stupid for removing linux cause you know full well its just going to make people want to hack it more now..

also i read on a google search there is some kind of v ram used for encrypting the harddrive and jailbreak already cracked it wow they could crack a government laptop drive encryption if they wanted the same way so DUMB SONY should have just changed the server where the thing logs onto and used a passsword logon instead but they are lame

  15. Got a new Win7 pc and was just playing around with the emus a bit. On mine, what happens with Atari800Win is that the colors look okay if you run in windowed mode, but get all messed up if you enter full screen mode. I've also found via trial and error, that if you right-click on the atari800win.exe file, select the compatibility tab, set it to emulate win xp sp2, and then check ALL of the check boxes below (256 colors, 640x480 mode, disable desktop, etc), it will then run in full screen mode with correct colors as long as the emu was in full screen mode the last time you quit out. (if you start out in windowed mode, you may have to enter full screen mode in the emu, then click the mouse pointer near the top edge to make the menus appear, quit out and then relaunch it.....at which point it should launch in full screen mode and work fine.)

use gdi for windows ? i have a older verison witch might work better

also i found a zipped version i just loaded month ago witch emulates paddles as MOUSE!! .

i forgot goto 800x600 16bit color before starting and check use agp mode also get all directx SDK from microsoft to chomp video card drivers..

windows 7 is a nother milleinuim no video card open gl or directx drivers they expect on cdrom w video card manafacture.

try downloading catalyst or detonator nvidia or ati drivers mabie it might work..

  17. [

    anyway good luck.

ps here is a chip number the 486 used its like flash memmory but acts like a eeprom? weird.

    Atmel Flash Memory AT29C256 , AT29C512 , AT29C010A , AT29C020 , AT29C040 , AT29C040A

    W29EE512 , W29EE011 , W29EE012 , W29C020(128) , W29C040 , PH29EE010(W29EE011)

    ASD AE29F1008 (AT29C010), AE29F2008 (AT29C020)

    Ver 0.992 up(DOS). Can run under win9x

(disable prog. CPUIdle or CPUCool) AT49BV512

  18. I was just wondering if anyone has, or knows how to convert an old cartridge to work as an adapter using compact flash memory or perhaps and old thumb-drive - I am quite handy with a soldering iron and and can find my way around a schematic circuit without to much trouble, but i know very little of atari or usb/ CF hardware....

I know how to use an old atari cart like pacman since there is a lot in my collection i thought i could get 20 carts and sell for $1. more on ebay THAT FAILED miserably anyway with 7 extra pacman carts i decided to try burning my own hackomatic III modified atari roms onto a real atari cart.

I got success I bought a homebrew copy of snoopy cause I couldnt find one and wanted to play then i used cart removed laBEL

and 2764 chip copied it w old eeprom burner i got from hamvention in dayton ohio may 14-17 some weekend in may anyway copied to new chip

I had erased for 30 minnutes it WORKED. then i used null modem cable and xmodem and burned my crockrocks asteroids changed rocks to look like

aw and ®'s since my name is adam w anyway it worked i had my own cart ..

then i modified the flashback II using the color b/w switch to switch between a10 and a10 on the built in memmory and since one disconnects and one connects I used the double pole double throw switch b/w switch I had to scrape all traces from board its like two switches in one.

I discovered when i was making a space invaders test chip for arcade pcb that you need to switch up the a10 line pin to switch roms on the fly I disconvered this when i was playing regular asteroids on the FLASHback II and switched from built in memmory to actuall crockrocks cart and viola it was weird only the rocks went from clear to the aw/® ones I went hmm cool.

so if you could figure out how to switch from a10 lines on a chip like mowerman's pacman 4 game menu you might beable to use a

270c10 or a 290c10 i just learned from my NAGASAKI single board pc104 computer i got for only $4.95 that a 290c10 ok ill get actuall chip number from manual lets you have 1meg on a eeprom type chip but its flash!!

so you pick witch pin at witch address its not easy but you could make youre own multi cart..

ok back to making a sinlge cart

you need only a regular atari cart a 8k rom and a 7404 chip w only 4 pins chop the rest off the 7404 flip over like dead bug and hook to cart you have to scrape some traCES AND rewire the cart but I was shopping at PAWN SHOP and got lucky they had all the ATARI carts in a drawer under the glass cases FULL OF ATARI carts sega carts and nes 8bit and snes carts I was like COOOL i bought A BLUE CART AND WHEN I RIPPED IT APART IT HAD A 2732 IN IT AND A 7404 ALREADY WIRED TO MY LIKING TO MAKE A HOMEBREW CART..

i BOUGHT A NEW WILLEIAM EEPROM BURNER OFF EBAY YES I SPELLED IT WRONG IT SHOULD NOT COST MORE THAN $20 i PAYED $15 3 YEARS AGO..

ANYWAY GET A 24v POWER PACK OR 12V POWER pack DC donot use the usb jumpers use a external power pack and make shure you have

    a

PARRALEL PORT for this type eeprom burner

THIS IS ONLY TO SHOW WHAT AND WITCH ONE I HAVE\

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 2507787776061?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=250778777606&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

anyway you can send direct .bin files w out having to convert them you must 1st test to blank check need ultravoilet light to erase 30 mn before checking

i think you get aal 04's or 0f's if blank

then you set dips using .97j software and manual for jumpers for voltages

DONOT USE USB FOR power input you need 12v powerpack to program 2732's

A great place to get 2732's is a old birdie king or other Taito arcade pcb there is 20 chips in a birdie king 2 pcb!! get like 9dollars on ebay if youre lucky..

so i burned the hackem to a 2764 or 2732 i cant remember I have two type homebrew carts one takes longer chips but it booted

i love listning to COMBATROCK IN THE MORNING.

I did however finnaly get windows 98 and succussufly got a video card drivers and network card drivers loaded onto a 1meg compact flash to ide connector on a single board computer..

my next goal now that I got the backplane w isa plug and found my old DOS soundblaster branded a240 i5 d1 sound card .

    sorry for punctuation errors.

I have a 486 w 3 sockets to take 27c010 chips as disk on chip sockets the 4th chip is the c-mos this board looks like a arcade pcb but its a 486! only if my 5x86-p133 chip wasnt blown..

aparanetly i can format the chips like a floppy disk witch would be cool if i had the disk on chip flash type chips i could just load old dos stella.exe and some roms and gamemenu.exe witch is a front end that allows joystick loads..

otherwise using a flash drive w real atari would take some work.

you might be better off using a super charger and a mp3 player .

    anyway good luck.

  19. OK back to watching TV untill Tommorow when I try to program Atari again I just got SUPER TIRED :sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::-o:sleep::sleep::sleep::cool::rolling::cool::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::?::roll::rolling::rolling::cool::D:):):grin::grin::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling:

  20. How bout that SUPER rant .

    oh PS.pS

PS. Back to the FUTURE was on all three of them on AMC the other day it was AWESOME.

    :arrow::twisted:;):D:lol::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::rolling::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::sleep::yawn::sleep::yawn::yawn::sleep::yawn::yawn::yawn::sleep::party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party::music::lolblue::dunce::grin::D:-D;-);-);-);-);-);-)1970;-):):):):):):):):):arrow::thumbsup::P:lol::rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling:

  21. Whoa!! So, did you also get a bottle or two for Christmas???

no i was just ranting a lot and got exited about mrchtree.txt from my old post and remembered it still loads.. txt again since its cool..

I know i rant and have crappy punctiuation and never use a . sorry anyway if you play atari basic enjoy the .atrs. anyway .

    and HAPPY NEW YEAR..

Oh, ok. Rants are fine with me, at least you are ranting about interesting things, so that we are entertained. Proceed.

if you want to play load txt files and rename to filename.atr and it will work!.

as far as atari800.exe i dont know if its © ed but atariages link just did nothing so i decided to load up my version i use rename it to atari81.exe from atari81.txt and it should load you might need zlip.dll for sound!..

here is my orange christmas lights..

here is a nother file i hacked w hackomatic II too its a coke wins varient.

    a01.bin is crockrocks!

i made a buntch of coke wins hacks too called adamwins

rename atariedit.txt,atariedit.exe hackomatic II renamed so i can find it in list faster.

zlib.txt is for atari8001.txt,atari8001.exe for sounds rename to zlib.dll !

    .

rename stella2.3.6-win to .exe then it for 2600

    atari81.txt,atari81.exe is for atari800 emulation.

needs zlib.dll for sound and roms for basic and for atariosb.rom find w google enjoy my hacks..

oh here are some atari basic .atrs i forgot. since im in the mood.

the .bins are 2600 roms..!!! no need to rename from .txt to .bin atariage forum computer bbs lets you upload .bin's cool huh.

password for basic(paddle(0)).txt rename it to anyfilename.atr to run is s a then push start to load menu!.

the mpp express is for a weird modem uses joy port 1 and can dial using pulse and takes cart or this disk works too its weird but cool at same time . ill look for bobterm too..

if its a .atr.txt just remove the .txt and leave the .atr ! ok that should be enough files for this year to keep me and every one else happy for the HAUL.. enjoy if something is © then just delete it or dont use it.. otherwise most every thing should be P DOMAIN stuff.. If i made a mistake sorry and DID Not do it on porpuse .. this is a archival upload anyway. the .bin files are all Atari hacks I hacked using HACKOMATIC II I renamed it to atariedit cause its easyer to find in c:\dir description mode.

atari81.txt rename to atari81.exe and then rename zlib.txt,zlip.dll to run atari400/800 files remember you need a REAL atari for roms witch you can find on google doing a search for atari 800 emulation rom search use atari800osb.rom and ataribas.rom for basic and leave in atari 800 mode osb and use basic uncheck hold option to disbale basic or it wont boot basic.. also uncheck run disk as fast as possible to load files that lock up on load when running normal games .. stella 2.3.5 works once you load a game push alt enter to keep gl mode otherwise delete stella.cfg and reload remember to check make icon on desktop to make icon on desktop

also choose rom dir then it will find roms faster..

on atari800.exe pick 48000 for sound and divisor 1 then pick alt enter 640x480 partial clipped and it works good there is also a newer version witch is a little different and has a more yellow GUI and works w mouse for paddle but is not as good as loading as this one is and this one SAVES files if you attrib *.* -r -s -h -a /s to atari rom dir and .atr dir then you can write to virtual drive and modify basic programs and save them I forget weather you need a ape(atarimax cable ) hooked to save on atari81.exe atari800 emulator to save changes to basic games.

    I do remember this

if you save a atari file basic game and rename it to autorun.sys it will boot to that game after dos and dup load!.

    also

the command for loading games in 400/800 basic is

    load"d1:gamename.bas"

    or run"d1:menu.bas"

list 1,0000 will list all lines from 1 to 10000

poke 77,128 brings attract mode on

    in christmastree atr file

stop program after you light lights donot push start to reload menu

    put new line

    741 poke 77,128

    then type goto 800

    or cont.

it should run but attract mode is on now.!

here is a small basic program to type in.

    for atari400/800 basic

remember in atari basic you need caps on!

    10 gr.8:poke 87,7:poke 710,0:poke 709,14

  22. UHU glue stick i think is the brand also scotch makes a CRAFT stick too or you can goto target

    and get

    YELLOW package

    3m double stick see

threw scotch tape carefull not to rip label before using double sitck tape sticks to paper lables real good.

the tape looks like gift wrap tape but has a yellow cardboard insert on the 3m holder to let you know its double stick

I always pull more than i need then stick one end to desk then using sicsor cut thinner than normal and use small strips smaller not as WIDE AS LABEL im repairing to the label and then align then affix to cart the double stick tape works best but make shure its evenly applied to back side of label or it will look bumpy!..

here is my own label CROCKROCKS and end lable says ADAMw a paste from screen cap off stellax of my modded Asteroid©® Atari©Atari®( tm) type game..crockrocks I used HACKOMATIC II to remake graphics.

i used glue stick 1st but it came off so i changed to double stick double sided scotch type tape.

Disclaimer crockrocks is not for sale and

Asteroids® is a © and of Atari Corp and Atari® is a TM of Atari CORP.

all other ®'s are rocks in crockrocks..!!
