Atari 1050 overheating and slow rotation
Kyle22 replied to Fuji-Man's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Center stop? There is no center stop. It should retract to track 0 and hit the sensor. If it is already at track 0, it should move forward a few tracks, then back to zero, hit the sensor, and stop. A 1050 is NOT a head-banger. -K -
It appears to be very fast in the movie. May we see a picture of the device?

I like the Atari and Coleco versions. As for the music, is it a bug, or by design? Begin each level with music, then shut it off leaving just the sound effects to avoid distraction. I didn't know there was a 2600 version until now. Amazing it has enough power to run it at all. -K

Thanks!

I am also experiencing the same problem. It says: Flash ROM: ST39SF040, 512KB Erase 8*64 KB ... timeout error Bank 0: Read...Flash... ERROR: Programming Failed! Retry ?

I am also looking for the XEGS ROM. -Kyle

After reading your post, I looked over at my 1200XL, and it has the same issue. I installed my U1MB today. I assume it has the latest firmware. The Sparta TDline shows the correct day. -K

Atari 8 Bit Computers - real world business use examples?
Kyle22 replied to SINGLE TOOTH's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
The only one I know of that needs something "extra" is SpectraView I, which is a cart that needs a custom ROM in the BASIC socket. If you power up one of these Ataris with the ROM in the BASIC socket, but without the cart, they display a Rainbow pattern (and that's all). Spec uses a Disk Drive on the SIO to store its data. Most of the ones we sent out were 1050's, Indus GT, and a few XF551s. I would love to see any and all ROM images you have, though -K -
Good, I hope it works for you.

Atari 8 Bit Computers - real world business use examples?
Kyle22 replied to SINGLE TOOTH's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
No, it was the same concept, but a different program. Thanks for the link though. This http://atariage.com/forums/topic/207010-compu-cable-systems-spectraview-ii/ is the program. I already asked about a ROM dump in that thread, but had no luck -K -
Atari 8 Bit Computers - real world business use examples?
Kyle22 replied to SINGLE TOOTH's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Do you, by chance, still have the software? I worked at a company (back in the day) that produced Spectraview for cable co.'s. I wish I could find some of my old EPROMs. Also, I helped out a family business by writing a fairly simple mailing list database program that would print labels. The database was in RAM, I used BASIC-XE, but, it still had size limits. -K -

It looks good on Atari 800 NTSC OS-B 48K RAM.

Does anyone know if it's possible to put OSS bank switch MAC/65 style ROMs in the U1MB? Lotharek said (in an e-mail) : "That is possible à best check atariage forums for ultimate rom creator. " I don't understand how, because the logic would need to be re-programmed to switch the ROMs in and out. -Kyle

The game looks interesting.

It would be very unusual for the 6502 or ANTIC to show RAM failure in the self-test. If either of those were bad, I would expect a blank screen. Careful use of a dremel to cut off the pins as close to the chip as possible, then carefully heat and pull out each one. After that, careful use of de-soldering wick to clean up the holes. Please install sockets while you have the chance, it makes it much easier later if you have a problem. There are memory upgrades which use 256K chips. 320K is a common setup, that's 1 row of 64K, 1 row of 256K. There are some extra (small) chips and wiring involved, or, you can put 2 rows of 64K (like original) and use the Ultimate 1M upgrade. U1M gives you 1MB RAM, SpartaDOS-X, Clock, and more. All inside. Xirius defect - 4th place Abbuc SW Contest 2013
Kyle22 replied to matosimi's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It looks great, except for the PMG shows up as a garbled vertical stripe, and the pointer disappears near the top. I suspect it is because I have NTSC system. Is this game known to be PAL only? -Kyle -
I wish it would work on my NTSC 1200XL. The videos look AWESOME! Could I just put a PAL ANTIC in there, or is there more to it? -K
-
Great game! I don't last long either: a) because it runs too fast on NTSC or b) I'm too old Very challenging, and nice music. -K
