  1. I agree. It looks like the correct power supply, but, the paddles don't say Atari on them, joysticks do say top, and the top side rails and front corners are certainly not a heavy 6. -K
  2. Hopefully, its not fried. It could be, but there is no way of knowing. Try a new P/S first. It may work. If you have a bad GTIA or ANTIC, for example, they are not that expensive to replace. The overvoltage problem commonly blows RAM chips, which are cheap. You may have a chance because you have some video, not just a blank screen. You have a GOOD chance of having socketed chips in your 800XL, and Best Electronics has any item you may need in stock. http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/ M-F 1:30-5 PM PST 408 278-1070 it *IS* worth fixing! Good luck -K
  3. *RIGHT NOW* don't ever plug that one in again, it can and will fry your computer! -K
  4. Check your power supply. You may have the 'Ingot' style supply that can damage your computer, Part # C061982. You may have a bad filter capacitor in your P/S. Try a different, properly regulated 5 volt DC supply 1.5A, or so. -K
  5. I agree, from the pattern of jumpers, it looks like 74LS244 or 245. -K
  6. David_P, If I remember correctly, the chip on the underside of the Sweet-16 is a GAL type chip, possibly a 22v10. Because of an 'oops' in board layout (that we discovered after the boards were made), that GAL is mounted UPSIDE DOWN with the PINS BENT OVER. Please observe CAUTION if you try to remove and read the GAL, you will most likely blow it if you put it in your device programmer as is. The security fuse is probably blown, but maybe not all of them got done. It was fairly simple logic in there, basically, the 'extra' logic on an old 400/800 CPU board, plus a little tweaking the timing through multiple gates to get it 'just right'. -K
  7. I have done a little Z80 programming. It is Awesome!, but I find that it is difficult to get back in '02 mindset after doing lots with Z80. ld c,9 ld de, msg jp bdos msg: db 'It is easy to display a string in CP/M (or MS-DOS), for the same reason.$' Bill Gates can NOT answer the question about the Dollar Sign, because he has NO idea... Only Gary Killdall knew that answer. May you Rest in Peace Gary!
  8. A clean drive is a happy drive... No, wait...It isn't... I should say "Use a Happy drive that is clean and in good adjustment"
  9. Those things are expensive (but NICE) http://www.ebay.com/itm/ECM-93-SMT-Pick-and-Place-assembly-machine-complete-with-feeders-fully-oporation-/281166556271?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4176d52c6f
  10. Could you please run several pages through this? So many of these 1027's printheads will either dry-rot, or go to sticky goo. If your printhead is OK, I may be interested. Thanks. -K
  11. I forget the name of it now, but there was 835/1030/XM301 R:Handlers that worked with most Term progs.
  12. I want an XL/XE/Incognito version! Maybe even a VBXE Ultra version. Please, make the subliminal messages in it say Conservative things, instead of COMMIE (64) stuff. Use as much RAM as you have, take advantage of 65816 accellerators, and any other hardware that will help. Ability to be run under SpartaDOS-X would be AWESOME! (you MAY use OS-RAM, and you MAY use certain XE / Axlon banks. (XE / Axlon are addressed TOTALLY Differently). Read the SDX docs. I think it's spartados.com. All the new techniques of pulse modding the GTIA would be great, as well as stereo POKEY support (if installed), otherwise, support single POKEY and GTIA sounds. Anyway, I think that this game would be GREAT on the A8! -Kyle
  13. I picked up a 400 from Goodwill in Lawrenceville for $10.00, but that's the only Atari item I have seen there. -Kyle
  14. That is awesome ! I would love to do this, This may lead me into cutting holes into my beloved 1200XL. OK, This will be an interesting project... -K
  15. Here is the reverse of that question... What if I would have ONLY a VGA monitor attached? Does the VBXE provide the ANTIC/GTIA output on the VGA monitor? -Kyle
  16. it's both top and bottom, but not too bad. I glued it. -K
  17. Hopefully, there will be enough demand for one more run. I really want one -Kyle
  18. Hey Bob, Do you have any (female connector) 800 keyboards? I bought an 800 from ebay, and it seems to have been dropped by the postal employees. The keyboard didn't make it. I was able to glue the cracked case. -Kyle
  19. I would also be interested in one. -Kyle
  20. Looks good, except for the help screens, where the PADCHAR appears to be a 3 character sequence [email protected][], where the a has an accent mark, and [] represents a space. -K
  21. Yes, it is. I was trying to think of something that most people will set once, and not normally change while using the software. -K
  22. How about a 40 col. line in gr.0? Would it be possible to gain a little space by removing the ^K function? Users could easily set their preferences in the LW.CFG file. Just an idea... -K
