STEs never came with TOS 1.04 in ROMs. All STEs either had 1.06 or 1.62 fitted - Mega STEs 2.05 or 2.06.

Is this safe to use with the lot of interlacing 2600 games do use? As I plan to buy one as TV and generic retromachine display...

Did I ever add myself to this list? Can'T remember, but in case I forgot: Falcon 030 with 14MB+FPU, Netus-Bee, solidstate flash drive running TOS I mainly conect it to my TFT via VGA but from time to time I use SCART and occasionally RF as well. Located in Friedrichshafen, Germany

Actually what should be special for US releases? European ones should work pretty well, esp if you monitor/TV can adapt to both standards. Many games will happily boot on 60HZ machine, maybe music will play faster (as most coders hooked into the VBL).

Actually you can get free samples of them from Dallas directly. They even ship to Europe (However you can't order huge batches as samples. 2 chips is the limit IIRC)

Such is a valuable choice if you already have the needed host adapters (ACSI->SCSI) at hand. Ofcourse it has almost no use if you have a plain ST with no additional host adapters.

Any one will do, in case it comes with TOS 1.0 or TOS 1.02, you can upgrade to TOS 1.04 with few hazzle. A STFM or STE model would be good - they have an RF output so you can hookup a TV with ease. Picture quality is not good ut then you can lways use a SCART lead too. STEs have the advantage that you can easily upgrade the memory + they have some additional features as hardware scroll, more colors and stereo sound. Take note that most games will still run on STF and STFM as well. Games for STE only are rare.

Sometimes just the fuse has been blown. Maybe you can replace it?

As a developer of what you call "homebrew" games I just want to say: Do what you please but take note: I do it for free (and surely it is for my fun), and I will tell anyone who is paying for a game released by Paradize that he should have spend his money on something else. And indeed, ggn is and was very helpful. Ofcourse such help between coders naturally doesn't have to happen in public... Just my 2 Euro cents

Yes this is really great work, and someday I'll migrate to the new compiler under TOS. Due to my preference of plain TOS GBE is not really useful Definitly go, it is esp. cool to have some who knows the inner workings of GFA. This is really useful when it comes to debugging more trickier code.

Ok..then I'll have to buy a 60Hz capable TV set Does this also imply that I can play NTSC cartridges on my PAL console as long as the TV copes with it? I made a photo of the two Missile Command cartridges, to the left the one not working on a 50hz only TV. (The topside label has been copied from another photo below the large one) Now I have spotted the P on the top label of the right, working, one. As the label is damaged on the left one, I didn't miss it. Maybe I should take care for this in the future... The Galaxians cartridge has no P markings..some of my other cartridges have small "p" stickers on the backside attached. Thanks for making clear

On STs without modulators, you can create a COMPOSITE VIDEO signal with the following scheme: This should give you a black & white signal but it is better than no picture at all, probably fully ok to check if an ST is working at all In case you have no COMPOSITE SYNC on pin 2, use the right scheme to create it... I have never tested those, being based in Good Old Europe, I can simply use SCART

I wonder..is the 2600 sensitive to the TV set you use? I have two PAL consoles according to the bottom sticker (2600jr), and I have two cartridges in my possession which depend on the TV set if they display a proper picture. On the large end 90s TV set of my sister they work fine, this set also supports 60Hz PAL with my ST(e). On my older early 90s vintage TV set, they display some sort of rolling picture, e.q. 3 frames in one, compressed. It doesn't do 60Hz on my ST(e). The cartridges are "Galaxians" and "Missile Command". Oddly I have another "Missile Command" cartridge which works fine on my TV, however I can't spot a real difference on the cartridges. Is there a chance to tell whether a cartridge is PAL or NTSC?

Any ST with 2MB RAM or more should do. http://ray.atari.org/ is the official distribution site, and v0.8a is the latest release.

Try http://ray.atari.org/ Take note that the last Wolf3D for ST was still a beta version which may crash from time to time.

There are Network card interfaces available for Atari ST, TT and Falcon, try looking for Ethernec, Netusbee and maybe Ethernat.

I'd always recommend the Competition Pro. For small hands there was also a sizereduced version. I personally prefer the late silver blue issue which has microswitches in all places.

No, it wouldn't be worth the effort. But basically you could connect the Jagpad to any DB9 joystick connector and let it act as your standard joystick. A schematic for this can be found in the "Extended Joystick Ports FAQ", EJP on the net or in the Atari-FOrum wiki: http://www.atari-forum.com/wiki/index.php/...stick_Ports_FAQ This would also have the benefit that you could use the Jagpad on other retro machines aswell, e.q. C64 and Atari 800.

Where applicable, the newer games by Paradize (http://paradize.atari.org/) support the Jagpad as well.
