  1. Shortly after the book was released, Van Burnham seemed to go into hiding, and the ROM for the game was never released.  Did anyone ever receive one of the 100 carts that were to be made?

I was supposed to get one copy of Supercade and I never received it. I sent at least two emails to Van and never got a response. I have no idea what happened to her or the game.

She shows up at CGE every year... maybe we should (figuratively), pin her down and find out what the deal is... ?

    Excerpt from supercade.com

"DUE TO THE REVISED RELEASE DATE FOR SUPERCADE, FINISHED CARTRIDGES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL FALL 2001. WINNERS WILL BE CONTACTED VIA EMAIL TO CONFIRM ADDRESS AND CONTACT INFORMATION PRIOR TO SHIPMENT. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE DELAY."

  2. I got Kaboom! today and I can't put the paddle down!

Does anyone know what the high score is on it?  Does the score roll?

    According to Twin Galaxies,

The Top 5 Kaboom (Diff B) scores are:

    1 100.000% 999,999 Robert Mruczek R

    1 100.000% 999,999 Todd Rogers R

    2 17.087% 170,867 Stephen Riesenberger R

    3 16.087% 160,866 Ken Vance R

    4 3.910% 39,101 Giovanni Flamand R

    5 3.823% 38,228 Ron Corcoran R

The Top 5 for Kaboom (Diff A) scores are:

    1 100.000% 4,951 Stephen Riesenberger R

    2 93.234% 4,616 Ron Corcoran R

    3 56.554% 2,800 Carmine Guida V

    4 50.313% 2,491 Brien King R

    5 16.906% 837 Shane Monroe R

...and no, the score does not roll.

  3. Yes, Twin Galaxies will accept scores for homebrew games. It is my opinion that they are just as good (and in some cases better) than commercially produced games and therefore warrant recognition. I do ask, since it is far more difficult for the masses to videotape a homebrew game, that all submissions be sent via an .avi produced by PCAEWin 2.4+. If you own a device that allows you to play the game on a real VCS, then by all means, please feel free to submit your score on vhs cassette.

  4. How exactly would one prove a high score on a game that rolls over anyway?  I could say I rolled over the score on Video Pinball, or I could say I rolled it over 37 times in one game.

Videotape :) You record your entire game on tape, which will show the score roll as you continue on your way. As a matter or form, TG requires videotape for any submission on a game in which the score rolls.

  5. You can follow either methodology. Either directly record your game as NE146 suggested (the preferred method) or use a video camcorder and use the "over the shoulder" approach you describe. If you do in fact sit back a ways from the TV, please ensure the camera is close enough to show all detail in the game.

  6. I have 4 copies of VCS Pacman and each have some minor variation except for one. The Sears Tele-games label, while similiar, has a completely different colour scheme. It is Red compared to Yellow or Orange on the others.

  7. However, with respect to age, by law there is an absolute minimum age requirement under which we can accept scores.

Speaking unofficially, I seem to recall that number being either 5 or 8, but Walter Day knows for sure. Now back on record...

Walter has stated in the past that 13 is the minimum age for which we can accept scores. This may have changed as this was a few years ago.

  8. HOLY CRAP!

My best Entombed!  score is 229!!!!!!!!!  It does roll at 99 every time and does reset to 00 (I'm 99% sure of this).

Running out of make-breaks is NEVER an issue if played correctly and the maze speed tops out after about 60 clicks.

Does this mean I can video tape a performance of mine and be in the TG database???

I am not goofing, I have gotten over 200 at least 5 times and can do it again with a little warming up and practice.  May I enter a video tape if I can get one made????

    Stan:

Awesome score! Yes, if you videotape your achievement, and send it to me (send me an e-mail for the submission form & instructions) I will get you into the database and Book of Records. :)
