Nope, not hard at all... http://www.mumbojumbo.com/rt.anthology.html

Yes and no. Some of the games are lower than original Activision standards. Take Kaboom. Activision originally stated 3,000 points for a patch. The Remix PC edition awards a patch at 800 points. All other games are pretty close. Although I did earn my River Raid and Laser Blast 1M point patch after crossing 100,000... On the other hand, H.E.R.O, Freeway and Pitfall 2 are dead on the money with the original requirements.

Those are the only three I've seen too. Perhaps with more gameplay I'll unlock more...

If you can link me to the BLL Dev, I'll give it a whirl on one of my XP boxes.

Posted online as a zip. http://www.snipercade.com/atari/docs/2600p...programming.zip

Well, this is a VCS tutorial... I know, I'm going to burn in hell for that one...
-
Absolutely. It was not, nor shall it be, my intent to have this pdf serve any other purpose other than off-line viewing/reference. Once you are ready to send your book (with far better quality images) to a publisher, my version will cease immediately.

I have an updated version (as of 18 Nov 03). This update includes Session 23 and some minor cosmetic changes. However, as the zip file is 1.1MB, I think it's over the attachment limit. I will host this file on my webserver (snipercade) when I get home from work this evening.
-
Thank you sir. Do you find it adequate or at least acceptable?

Here is an up-to-date (sans session 23) version with a few extras. Andrew: Is it o.k. to keep doing this? If not, say the word and I'll stop. 2600programming.zip

I too will do the same. Nothing better than constructive criticism to make one a better person/programmer.

The Inty Compatability List has been updated as of today. Very small update at this time. I still need to get a complete list of Inty games so I can test all available romsets. Anyone interested in helping?

Session 23: Moving Sprites Vertically

WOOOHOOO!!!! Time to do the Snoopy dance! -
Andrew: I have started a new project as a direct result of your tutorial. My intent is to create, at first, a simple vertical scroller shoot-em-up. I know it's been done a million times, but I have to start somewhere. Here is a link to my DUP bio page that shows this and other projects. http://www.darkunicornproductions.com/code...=Ron%20Corcoran Please, try not to laugh too hard...

For $5, I'd be all over that too!

Yes, the game let's you know when you've earned a patch. In fact, it also lets you know when you've unlocked special play modes, commercials, etc. as well. Frankly, I find it a little annoying as it disrupts gameplay momentarily by asking you if you want to continue. When you select a game to play, you also have the ability to view the original manual in the game, look at the box, and see a commercial (if previously unlocked). It's actually very well done. Hats off to Activision!
-
No such thing as a dumb question. No, Activision is not giving these patches away anymore. The patches you see are "virtual" given by the software in your "virtual room" within the game.

Well, I finally earned my Pitfall 2 patch tonight. What a pain in the rear that was... I hate playing games with unresponsive controllers... My Gravis pad needs to be DX'd.

Is there any interest in a course on Assembly language?

Is there any interest in a course on Assembly language?
RCorcoran replied to Robert M's topic in 2600 Programming For Newbies
Rob: I think that would be a great idea! I know I could use a refresher on ASM. It has been almost 20 years since my last course in ASM (graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1985).... I'd probably just skim the CompSci fundamentals though. If it were up to me, I'd say GO FOR IT! PLEASE! -
At first glance this looks AWESOME!!! Drooling until this goes "gold"
-
In this collection, I'm really not going for scores as it's not the real deal. I am, however, going after patches. 15 and counting...
-
I would also add to Thomas' suggestion getting X26. This is a nice little front-end that gives you a graphical interface to Z26. That is unless you like CLI.

Combat cart to travel worldwide...wanna help?
RCorcoran replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
I'm in. If it gets here around May 2004 or so, I'll take it to the Grand Canyon... -
Yes, I know this isn't a purist 2600 posting, but it is VCS related... Here's a screenshot of the patches I've earned so far in the Activision Anthology. I'll update this as I get more patches. Here is a list of patches earned in case you can't make out the pic very well... Beamrider (8 Nov 03) Chopper Command (8 Nov 03) Crackpots (10 Nov 03) Decathlon (Bronze & Silver) (8 Nov 03) Enduro (10 Nov 03) Freeway (7 Nov 03) H.E.R.O. (10 Nov 03) Ice Hockey (27 Nov 03) Kaboom! (this game sucks with a mouse. And, they programmed in too much "jitter") (8 Nov 03) Keystone Kapers (27 Nov 03) Laser Blast (8 Nov 03) Laser Blast 1M Club (8 Nov 03) Megamania (8 Nov 03) Pitfall (8 Nov 03) Pitfall 2 (15 Nov 03) Plaque Attack (10 Nov 03) River Raid (7 Nov 03) Robot Tank (23 Nov 03) Spider Fighter (15 Nov 03) Stampede (23 Nov 03)
