I am almost finished converting this to a PDF. So far, it's 143 pages and that's leaving a bunch out. I can also convert the ENTIRE thread to PDF but it will be MUCH larger and contain quite a bit of discussion...

I have yet to see the show. Am waiting for laudy32 to send me a tape. Did they actually show the interview with me? I didn't expect them to since they interviewed sooo many people that weekend.

$$$ is stopping me right now. Plus I am a bit nervous about getting a 5200 off of eBay. Gotta make sure it's a 2-port, the controllers work, etc. 5200 seems more susceptible to problems than most other systems. Scott: I highly recommend http://www.4jays.com I have purchased several systems from them and have not had a bad experience yet. I can't speak for others, by I am very happy with their service, quality and support.

Crossbow: Yep, that last boss was a toughie. I've updated the ingame screenshot above to show the game complete message and my final version # (9.6.4). Now I have to crank up the difficulty to Insane and play again.
-
Cart Commander, without a doubt.
-
Updated: Version 9.2.2 now and still going.

Greg: Sad, but more than likely true... I love the game and think it has great replayability. However, I don't think it will appeal to the younger crowd, at least not for very long. I have to admit, when Doom 3 and Half Life 2 come out, I'll be all over those too.

Here's an in-game screenshot of my game progress in Tron 2.0. Yes, I am addicted. I am currently Version 7.4.0 and am trying to figure out a good route to finish this particular mission.

Russ: As you can see from the list, I am by no means an expert... however, the really long jumpers did dash several times on thier way down the ramp. I managed two dashes and you can see the results... pathetic...

I have photocopies of all the press releases from Activision from the CES shows back in the early 80's. Todd was invited by Activision to attend and demonstrate their new games and to "compete with different celebrities" on their various titles. At no time was Todd ever on Activisions' payroll, though he was compensated for his travel expenses. When I get some time, I will scan and post those articles so everyone can read them.

Here are the various contest results from this years Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, NV. In total, there we 86 registered players, although many did not submit their scores for whatever reason... The TG Crazy Bounty on Crazy Taxi was not claimed as the 400m threshold was not broken. This means the $200 is still up for grabs if you can crack 400m using TGTS. Be sure to check out our Crazy Bounty page for more details. http://www.twingalaxies.com/cgi-perl/news_..._Taxi_Bounty.pl Sega Dreamcast - Crazy Taxi - Crazy Jump -> Competition was fierce as the gamers swarmed around poor Brien all day Saturday. This was by far the hotest event at the CGE show as gamers stood in line waiting their turn to make their jumps going for the 400m jump and the prize money being offered by Robert Mruczek. The top jumper, Roddy Toomim was awarded a TG Certificate for his achievement as well as being spotlighted on G4 TV in our awards ceremony. Roddy Toomim 373.02 Todd Rogers 366.43 Ian Baronofsky 365.64 Elliot 359.24 Erik 355.10 Steve 352.22 Jesse Alexander 351.17 Ted 349.56 Russel 347.87 Brien King 346.64 William 346.60 Chrisopher Drum 346.22 Mike Ruppert 343.08 Jason Cram 337.43 Jason Wilson 336.58 Evan 336.31 John Christovasilis 335.56 Kevin Schaller 324.37 Rogelio 316.42 Chris Dunlap 313.62 Greg Erway 311.62 Charles Beaudion 311.48 Nicole Schultz 290.58 Anthony 289.50 Ron Corcoran 253.23 Jered hritz 250.40 Dave 221.93 Thomas Taylor 215.62 Kory Shaw 175.34 Atari 2600 Decathlon - Javelin -> This event drew lots of attention as gamers lined up to see if they could out throw Todd's 90m toss. Todd made his event winning toss infront of 30+ competitors/spectators (including Brien and myself) and won a TG Certificate and was spotlighted on G4 TV for his achievement in our awards ceremony. Todd Rogers 90.04 Jason Cram 83.62 R.J. Ferretti 83.29 John Christovasilis 83.29 Robert Flores 83.29 Craig Harris 82.96 Evan 82.96 Chirs Alexander 82.96 Ron Corcoran 82.64 Jered Hritz 82.31 Joe Grisaffi 81.98 Brien King 81.33 Roddy Toomim 81.33 Shawn Cram 81.33 Chrisopher Drum 81.00 Jesse Alexander 80.02 Greg Erway 79.70 Kevin Schaller 78.06 Christian Cram 76.76 Steve 72.51 Erik 72.18 Brett Weiss 66.63 Mr. Do! (Settings: Hard, Hard, Hard) -> This event had the smallest draw, but that didn't stop Mr. Linderman from claiming the $50 prize, a TG Certificate, a spot on G4 TV and setting a new, live event, Mr. Do! record with 1.975M! Tongki Linderman - 1,975,150 Don Hayes - 320,200 Malcom Moore - 295,400 Ron Corcoran - 259,750 Rick Fenick - 146,850 MAME Robotron (TGTS - Diff: 5, Lives: 5) -> Another event that drew LOTS of attention as the overall winner got to walk away with a Hanaho Deluxe ArcadePC cabinet valued at $3,000!!! Donald Hayes won the event, gaining him a TG Certificate, a spotlight on G4 TV and the Hanaho arcade cabinet. Here are the details to Donalds prize: http://www.hanaho.com/products/ArcadePC/De...luxe/index.html If you're asking why were the scores so low... it did take a bit of getting used to the HotRod Ultra controller layout. The joysticks are a good distance apart and we all had to adapt. Robotron was also the spotlight for this years TG practical joke. Billy Mitchell played a practical joke on Dwayne Richard, who drove down from Vancouver, BC to win the cabinet. We taped the entire 2 hour ordeal and may publish portions to the TG server in digital format so you too can be in on the joke. Billy has a famous saying when it comes to things like this: Do unto others and run really fast. Don Hayes - 334,275 Ron Corcoran - 279,175 Rex Sorenson - 229,700 Joe Grisaffi - 215,000 Brien King - 213,025 Conway Ho - 182,525 John Sieker - 138,525 Heather Corcoran - 101,025

I will have ALL CGE contest standings posted tomorrow morning. Sorry for the delay but computer problems have kept me busy the past few days...

19" Sony TV/VCR combo. I bought this just for the gameroom so I could record my games for TG and review games for TG. Problem is I watch more than I play...

O.K., time for Ron to give his $0.02 and explain some things. First, let me state that I agree 100% with Thomas, this has gotten blown way out of proportion. Everybody take a deep breathe and relax... we are talking about video games. Secondly, how Todd got the title Mr. Activision. Two and a half years ago, when Todd made his comeback in the video gaming scene, he was introduced to me, the Twin Galaxies Chief Editor and Atari product line referee. Todd and I talked at great length about his past gaming achievements and what his plans were for the future. I immediately started doing my own research on Todd to see if he was for real. As it turns out, after almost a year of digging, he was, in fact, very real. I acquired videotapes of him appearing on local and national news stations playing various Activision titles. I have videotapes and photos of Todd at several CES's in the early 80's where he was employed by Activision to demonstrate their new products, often before those products hit the streets. I have photos and other related materials from promotional events around the US where Todd would meet with celebrities to play them in the games they were endorsing for Activision. The list goes on and on... Well, after this period of discovery, and the simple fact that Todd held, and still holds, more world records on Activision titles than any other person, Twin Galaxies officially bestowed the honorary title of "Mr. Activision" upon him. It is not an ego trip on Todd's part, nor did he seek or ask for that recognition. We, the TG Board of directors, decided to award it to him for his lifetime achievements. Until another individual can post those types of stats and accomplishments, that title will stand. I hope this explains how and why Todd has his title. I also hope this doesn't offend players like David Yancey and Alan Hewston, as they too are both exceptional video game players as well as Activision experts. I'm sure there are more out there, but you see the point I'm trying to make. At this years CGE, Todd will be there, as will I and many other TG officials. We are going to run some great events and give away some awesome prizes this year. Be sure to drop by the booth and chat, register for any of our events, or whatever. Just try to remember we are all in this hobby to have fun collecting or playing these great games or just for the camaraderie. AtariAge, and it's citizens, are a great bunch of folks and a fun place to visit. I hope it can continue to remain that way. P.S. How I got my title is a completely different story I'll share another time.

The Lynx, to this day, is still IMHO the best "handheld" system out there. It may not be on the edge of the technology curve, nor will it fit neatly into a pocket, but it still kicks butt...

Tell me I'm not the only 1 keeping a log of my high scores!

Awesome news! I look forward to seeing your name in lights soon. -

Most likely, the answer was no due to insufficient evidence. If you had Polaroids or other photographs from back in the early 80's, I wouldn't see it being an issue. However, just a set of scores written down on paper or what-have-you, just isn't enough evidence for TG consideration. I know this sucks, but we have to be fair to everyone. I hope this one experience won't stop you from recording scores and submitting them. -
Yes, Bosconian '87 was released for the Commodore 64. Here's a few details: Year Released: 1987 Publisher: Mastertronic Graphics: Chris C. Lee Music: Jason C. Brooke

I converted both of my 2600 Log Books into Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets, which then were converted to MS Excel which found its way into MS Access and finally landed in SQL Server 2000. I have notebooks of personal scores dating back to Jan '78 and even have friends scores from Jun '78. Oh yeah, did I mention I'm also the Chief Editor for Twin Galaxies and am responsible for about 40,000 other scores? -
I love VP and DMM as well. Don't have BB so I can't comment on it.

I think this is, in fact, the longest running World Record to date, in the video game world at least. Todd set this record in early 1980 and no-one has come close to beating it to this day, including a program written by the Activision folks.
-
Todd has never expressed either a like or dislike for sports games to me. I too am not a big fan of sports games (sans NHL on the Genesis).

Stay tuned folks... just shy of 86 hours later, a new World Record has emerged. Here are some key facts: -> The longest a human being in TG recorded history has played a challenging video game on the same credit (85.75 hours) -> The highest ever recorded score on an Atari 2600 title, ever -> Proof that an Atari 2600 title ACTUALLY has the provision to track scores past the 100M mark, though not via 9 digits, but instead by the 10's and 1's digits Give up? Todd has SMASHED 100M on Journey Escape for the VCS. Details and a full write-up to follow once the tapes arrive and I review them.
