I just wanted to publicly offer a HUGE thank you to Charles "Voltman3" Guinn for sending me an original Stella Gets a New Brain v2.0 CD with the manual today. Charles, YOU ROCK!!! On a side note, welcome to Phoenix.

If anyone is interested, I have one of the original three CustomArcade controllers ever made. As most of you know, CA went out of business due to a lack of venture funding and was never able to mass produce these. This unit is hand-made and is in EXCELLENT, WORKING condition. Here is a link to the specs and pics I have posted: http://www.snipercade.com/ca/index.htm Click on each picture to see an enlarged view with more specific detail. I would like to trade this for a GBA Turbo Advance 128MB. I would ask for the 128MB cart, software and link cable. If you would rather buy this controller, I am asking $150.00 USD + shipping and insurance.

I was a junior in college in 1984. I remember not being able to afford a good number of games prior to that due to the price of $30-50 each. One day I go into the store to find bins of carts with a bright orange sign that read "Atari games - $9.95" My only thought was "WOW!" Needless to say, I grabbed several...

I suppose I have two (2) defective brain bits... I actually like Tod Frye's version of Pacman (or whatever you want to call it). Granted, the version Rob put together is far superior, the original Atari production isn't as bad as say... E.T. Then again, I only play Game 6, Diff A. Just another opinion in the sea of opinion...

Your greatest game-playing triumphs and worst defeats
RCorcoran replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
Inky: That's a bummer. TG would love to have your accomplishments in the dBase and Book of Records as they are awesome! Can you videotape or, via PCAEWin, record an .mpeg of your achievements? -

RCorcoran replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
Manical laugh... MUUUUHHHHAAAAHHHAAAA!!! VCS Pacman? I can help you there. I helped Todd out, why not you too? Last year at CGE, I showed Todd my Game 6, Diff A pattern (and gave him a tape of same) and a light came on. He has improved his score quite a bit using his pattern and concepts from mine. Tote your butt back out to CGE and I'll hook you up. -

Here are the binaries to Cracked, Whales and Pickup!!
RCorcoran replied to pizzaboy's topic in Atari 2600
Thanks Pizzaboy. I bought all three of these at CGE last year, but my Pick Up cart never worked... Of course, I didn't find that out until AFTER I got home and tried to play it. At least now I get to see what it's all about. -

Yes, please voice your opinions/concerns in the Twin Galaxies forums regarding scores types, games you would like to see tracked, etc. http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/index.php We know we have problems with the data model and are working to fix them as rapidly as we can.

What 2600 game is the best metaphor for life?
RCorcoran replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
Chess. Easy to learn, difficult to master. ...and sometimes it even cheats... -
What's your highest score on Space Invaders, var. 16, dif. a
RCorcoran replied to Krytol's topic in Atari 2600
You can check out Twin Galaxies for all your Atari high score questions (and many, many more). I have been the Atari Editor and Referee for almost 8 years now and we have amassed over 30,000 scores in the database (covering all platforms, coin-ops, pins, etc.). Once at the site, click on Search the Scoreboard in the left nav panel. Once you're on the search page, type in the name of the game and select the platform. http://www.twingalaxies.com Here is a link directly to the Space Invaders (1B) scoreboard: http://www.twingalaxies.com/cgi-perl/searc...latformSelect=5 and here is a link directly to Space Invaders (7B): http://www.twingalaxies.com/cgi-perl/searc...latformSelect=5 -

There are more in "Off Topic" since they weren't VCS specific. They are however Atari related.

Same for the Inty II... I think the point behind the Inty 3 was a) make more money b) remove the block for Coleco/Mattel games (See note below) c) make more money Notes on the Inty II - it contained a revised ROM which was necessary for the System Changer, but also caused incompatibilities with certain Colecogames and some Mattel games (Donkey Kong, Mouse Trap, Carnival, etc.)

My first multi-cartirdge console was a VCS. While I also owned an Inty and ColecoVision back in the day, I always found myself coming back to the VCS. Most of my friends had a VCS too so we would share/swap carts (as we did for the Inty and CV). By the time I got my first 5200, most of my friends had moved to either the Inty or Coleco and had lost interest in the VCS. Once I bought a VIC-20 (and later a C64), I put my VCS away in a closet for several years. Sometime in late '92 (after I got off active duty), I pulled the VCS back out of the closet (yes, the original one from 1977) and haven't put it away since. I never hated Inty or Coleco. They were great systems and had awesome arcade ports (most better than the VCS).
