  1.

So...are these blank cases or something? I think I'm missing something here.

Well, I didn't really want 3D printed. I've never seen anything that was 3D printed that didn't look and feel 3D printed. Like I said, 3D printing is a wonderful thing but it's not for me when it comes to cartridge shells.

Ah, sorry about that. Didn't read well enough. You might have to explore silicone molds.

  2. User theloon had something planned, which is why I designed the board, but he seems to have disappeared.

Sorry to necropost on this. Caught it at random while doing a search on 256k a couple days ago.

Mid 2017 is when stuff really hit the fan with my mothers cancer and the job I thought I'd retire from. I did indeed go into lurk mode.

    @CPUWIZ:

Just to make sure we're on the same page I messaged you yesterday about pricing. This is still very much a project I am actively working on!

  3. There used to be a "Frog ASPI" driver that helped with CD burning on 95 machines. But, the honest answer is you need the exact CD that came with the drive for your best chance of success. Actually, breaking down and buying a SCSI card and SCSI CD burner might be the way to go.

  4. Yeah, it's going to be tough to find someone to make your game for free. A lot of developers are here to make their own visions come true. If not that, they're looking for grocery money like me :)

Your arguments against doing yourself would make sense if you're truly alone in this. We're a friendly bunch and the batari BASIC forum section is active. You need help or feedback? You got it!

Your passion for the project is what makes you a better artist and developer. People will recognize that.

To sum up, the great thing about 2600 games is that you can start really, REALLY simple. Make the simplest Cyborg game possible. Build on it.

The alternative is to use code-free options like NES Maker or YoYo Games Game Maker. If coding is something you don't want to grow into you might have to choose other platforms.

  5. Back in the day there were recovery and repair utilities that claimed to re-magnetize the media. Stuff like HDAT2, HDD Regenerator, Victoria, etc..

There was one in particular that was great for floppies. Of course, that's the one I forgot the name of :(

I wonder if using such a utility would restore disks to the point they could be re-formatted and used again.

  6. I made a game called Tornado Blast re-using the cut down kernel from Gate Racer.

I also took it as a personal challenge to re-create SpiceWares assembly tutorial 2k game in batari BASIC. Named it CollectbB.

  7. Is LumaBoost the name of a game or a technique? If it is a technique what does it do? Can it be applied to non- DPC+ games?

I did try to read through the code before asking :)

UPDATE: After some Google searching it looks like a flicker management system that uses a brighter version of a sprite to offset flickering. I'd guess you'd have to double the brightness if a sprite is on-screen half the time.

  8. Do you have any forum links to that sort of thing? I've only found bins. I have thought about that, jumping to another kernel that only draws the pf and bg and bitmap on top, So you could do something like the game over screen in WoW or titlescreen on top of pf and bg.

Probably have to ask SpiceWare for source of his bus stuffing examples. The tricky part is still making it play nice with batari BASIC. Whatever RAM he's using might conflict. Also, making sure there's enough time between the assembly bB runs and his display kernel.

I suspect we'll all have to wait until SpiceWares C compiler is ready before enjoying this kind of tile based display.

  9. The highest I could possibly buy a genesis board for a game is $10 bucks. Not including shell and label, obviously. Most people don't pay that much by sourcing new bare boards + soldering skills. Even cheaper than that is scavenging old genesis games and replacing the chips.

I have no knowledge of other peoples costs. But, it seems $85 dollars is still premium tier stuff. I really hope it isn't the new norm.

  10. Been using projectors for years. Literally exploded a bulb due to overuse.

50" or larger TVs will seem sad and wanting afterwards. Just make sure you get the most lumens humanly possible given your budget - starting at 3500. Also, use multiple sources for confirming lumen output. Sellers and even original manufacturers are sketchy about stats.

  11. Only if Atari pulled a Nintendo and fooled disillusioned retailers into thinking it was an entertainment appliance. Which would mean further divergence from what the 7800 was. Maybe adding video overlay functionality to make it a family friendly video editing box. Or, an early ActionMAX kinda video game system.

  12. batari BASIC is the easiest way (especially with Visual bB).

If you tried reading through Random Terrains website and asked questions in the forum and can't get it.. well. The Atari 2600 is not a good starting point for you.

It's OK to fail at something. Learn what your limits are and find a new direction. Once you have more experience try again.

I already suggested starting with YoYo Games Game Maker for PC.

If you must start with a classic console try NES Maker.
