BC quest for tyres: ROM available?
Gemintronic replied to Emanuele's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Well, there you go No official ROM download available. Either they feel another run is possible or they have a lot more projects going on then releasing this for free. That's my bet. I don't think they would not tell us when a free ROM is available. That would not make sense from a public relations standpoint. -
BC quest for tyres: ROM available?

Wouldn't contacting Collectorvision directly be the answer? -
Is Opcode EVER going to Release Donkey Kong Arcade!
Gemintronic replied to ValkerieSilk's topic in Opcode Games
I don't think he personally handles communication for his company. I could be wrong. Did you try the official website? http://opcodegames.com/WebApp/contact.html -
Atari 2600 Homebrew game on Kickstarter -- Bigfoot Family Search
Gemintronic replied to SoulBlazer's topic in Atari 2600
Sorry for necroposting but I didn't want to be rude (since I could be a potential answer-er to this question), I never asked about how he did the box production. I assumed Bobby did the art since he came up with the background story. Bet you could ask him directly here: http://www.4cfingerboards.com/contact/ -
Sounds good for a title screen. I'm not sure if it will butt heads with space needed for playfield data and sprites. bB programmers will have to find out A single channel low CPU usage version would be amazing for in-game background music.

Some of my Atari 2600 common boxes look brand new. My NES boxes don't like my lifestyle, though. I think you're right about different paper and glue effecting longevity. Starting to think those VGA rated sealed plastic cases would be a real good idea for my best stuff. Not an endorsement for VGA. Just the method of casing them.

SecondBASIC is made by an AtariAge member nicknamed dra600n. He's published physical titles including Veteas BOMB on BASIC City. I made War in the Machine for GoodDealGames Although SecondBASIC has its own official forum most people still lurk in the forum for the previous BASIC compiler: http://devster.proboards.com/board/1/basiegaxorz-forums

People who will be swayed by elitist developers will probably not appreciate or support bB made games anyway. Best to channel energy back into the community to keep the Atari 2600 fresh and relevant.

Substitute for SARA RAM chip?
Gemintronic replied to MemberAtarian's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Everyone I know who can make huge 2600 carts has said they must scavenge for SARA chips (or have me provide them). I don't think you'll find a better solution than AtariAge style boards. I think 64k ROM with SARA RAM is something that Albert doesn't need to do anything special for? -
Way back in 2007 batari BASIC enabled me to make my first real console game. I'm proud of my work and eternally indebted to Fred Quimby and the AtariAge community. For those that want to display their pride and lead others to similar accomplishments this serves the purpose. At least that's my take

Nintendo dashes hopes of an N64 Classic
Gemintronic replied to 0078265317's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Big brand names never reveal their cards until they see fit. I'm sure someday we'll see another cash grab like this - even though they're locked down emulators with games we've already played (and own!). Sigh. -
DREAMCAST: BennuGD - A BASIC-like language with many targets including the Dreamcast. ^^ I tried to make that clear. But, mainly my intent was to list the best for a particular target per link. If you have leads on targets I missed please let me know. It's getting harder to find these things.

I remember having a horrible infrared joystick attachment that never worked. Looked like a PSX controller. The other rare/horrible accessory was a real PSX joystick and TV out mod. Destroyed 3 PSPs trying to get it installed.

Has anyone made a version for the title screen kernel? If not: I have! bb48x96.bmp

Not sure what you're referencing, sir. I was talking about when the Idea Peddler thread was first made. Also, I don't see any post by you in that topic. But, I think the main points have been made. I wish you well.
-
Sounds a little defensive. Are you already getting flak for your reporting style? I personally have drain bamage that prevents me from writing articles over 400 words so I get it.
-
Totally get that. Seen that in action. Was hoping the original poster would be happy with a game that avoids even the potential for issues.

Someone has to take on the liability of unlicensed IP. Or, cough up huge amounts of cash upfront for a license. Would you settle for something that: * Has a similar but legally distinct name. * Has similar gameplay (and perhaps requested improvements) * Uses new artwork instead of stealing assets from the original.
-
I always felt uneasy about that topic. However, at the time there were an abnormal amount of rude people asking for free labor to make games. Normally I'm all for live and let live. But, people would PM me and expect work because they felt (and told me explicitly!) coding was easy and practically valueless. In any case, I think you got your answers here tripletopper. I'd mull them over before posting again. Even the comments that you think are wrong are intended to help here. Heck, from my experience especially the comments I find hard to take are the most beneficial!

I think people have been known to edit the standard asm include files in bB. I think a 2k game called Gate Racer removed some features to keep the size down. Just make sure the modified versions are in the same folder as your project. It may be easier to just include it as inline assembly. http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-commands.html#includesfile

No. Far better to create new games with original I.P. I'd rather not face a lawsuit when Nintendon't figures out I ported Popeye or whatever. ~_^ No offense intended. Just sayin' My own take is that Kickstarters are far from being a guaranteed payment up front. Although, I know some sega genesis and NES developers that have successfully done so. If I ever do a Kickstarter I'll be something I already have the means to produce regardless. ..'course, that kinda defeats the purpose. It's a complicated world!

Scrolling Data for Levels (Standard Kernel, MultiSprite, DPC)
Gemintronic replied to Lewis2907's topic in batari Basic
I think the key at this point is to split the game engine into a two frame system. On even frames do game logic and odd frames *just* scroll the screen. Hopefully I get a spare slack break to try out that theory There's also the matter of shearing when the screen is slightly down or up and it needs to scroll horizontally. The only two methods I can think of are: A: Redraw EVERYTHING and fractionally position the screen vertically. This is what's going over cycle for me at this point. B: Smooth scroll a whole playfield pixels worth vertically THEN scroll horizontally. Option B sounds the most promising right now. -
I know nothing about whatever is going on. I DO know all about having (unbeknownst to me) weird viewpoints. I noticed in the topics you're on that there's a bit of pushback on your statements and you (in my opinion) don't let up. You can't really change someones opinion most of the time. Also, sometimes it's not obvious when we care too much about posting. I've had to mentally back away from time to time. Maybe now is a good time to do that for yourself. If it stops being fun then it kinda loses the point.
