  1. Action Max would have worked better in the age of DVDs. There's enough scripting language in DVDs to make fancy menus. That same basic scripting could've been used to make advanced Action Max games for sure. Unfortunately, the art of manually coding that scripting system in DVDs is a forgotten, black art.

  2. I guess this confirms a pattern of M$ caving in to public pressure. They should stick to the evil things only Technicians and Developers understand are wrong. If we can't explain it to the general public and media then its as good as done. That's why even server operating systems must be activated today. Oh, and good luck activating Office without a Microsoft Live account *groan*

  3. The last time I heard of bus stuffing was for the CompuMate. I think they used it to get better resolution? Rescue Terra I already looked pretty high res. Nice multi colored sprites and three stat displays. Rad!

Ahem, what is bus stuffing to you and what will it do?

  4. I can't speak for the other bB enthusiasts but I've been satisfied with my ability to generate sound effects. Although it is tremendously gracious of you to even consider porting libraries to bB.

I've been trying to figure out a good way to implement 4 way scrolling and the ability to load in playfield data as needed. batari made an example that I modified to run on newer bB builds here:

Sadly, manipulating level data is non-sensical. I don't really understand his code.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you ever get to thinking about bB again I'd appreciate any help you could offer simplifying 4 way scrolling (and loading in playfield data) :)

  5. Actually, they did a pretty good job of taking care of my RROD consoles. I still experienced it more than once due to it being a inherent defect.

I can't explain how much better your spin is. I can say that their slow burn strategy for revealing potential drawbacks isn't working at all.

At least on the software side they have the sneaky creepy tactics down. When you introduce a negative feature like license keys and activation you allow an out AT FIRST. Once Joe End User has accepted things the IT staff have no choice but to accept as well.

Many University copies of XP for students were activation free. A few years later activation was mandatory even on those discs. Now even server software has it.
