  1. I have already swapped out the TIA chip with a known good one and I still have the problem so I know the chip is good. I did resolder all components off of pin 10, but I have not tried off pin 9. I will try that and see what happens. Thanks for all your advise. I really appreciate it!
  2. Well just a quick update. I checked the voltage at pin 10 and I got 3.9 which is close. Moving the color pot increases/decreases this value so the pot is working. I also check it's resistance and it was good. I check the diodes and both are good. I found out that Radioshack does have a component cooler so I will try that because I'm out of ideas.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion of using freeze spray. I had thought about using it, but RadioShack doesn't carry it and I don't want to buy online. If I can't find the culprit, I'll have to find someone local who carries it.
  4. Sorry I haven't setup my profile yet, but it's an NTSC console. I've checked the color pot and it's working correctly. I'll recheck the diodes again to make sure they are working correctly as well as check the voltage while the color is missing. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks for the advise!
  5. I'm having a problem with a six switch that hopefully someone here can lead me in the right direction. I've tried searching for this issue, but have only found the opposite problem. I have a six switch that when turned on and cold, comes up black and white. After a couple of minutes the color will appear and it will worked pefectly until it's turned off and allowed to cool off say a couple of hours. I've swapped out the switchboard with another console and the problem follows the motherboard. I've swapped out the 3 chips and same problem. I have traced the b/w switch through the schematic and it's working. If I move the b/w switch I can actually see a change on the screen (what's black on the screen turns a lighter shade of black). I did have to change out the crytal on it because it was defective and the whole system was dead. I used a crystal from a 4 switch that was working so I don't think that's a problem. It sounds like a cap, but I've checked any cap that is involved with video for shorts and didn't find any. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
